Great oyster poboys. Portions generous. Don’t be swayed by the amount of cars in the parking lot. The restaurant is huge and can accommodate lots of folks.

This place will be here for a long time. The entire staff, from management to bartenders to oyster shuckers truly give a s$&@ and you can tell. Parking seems daunting at first, but it won’t take long to find a spot, and it’s worth every second!!! Great seafood and specialty drinks, what more could you ask for!!!

Food was good and service was fast. I would have give 5 stars but the air conditioner was out. I think they should add another $ to the site.

Alright, overall this place is a big hit! Megan, our waitress was amazing. The place was super busy, but it wasn’t loud like you would think it would be. The portions are HUGE!!! The Seafood platter was enough for 3 people. I have had catfish all over the country, and I will say that this catfish was as perfectly prepared as any I have ever had. It was crispy on the outside, yet moist on the inside. The bread pudding is a must, so be sure and leave a little room at the end of the meal for that! Overall, it was a great experience.

The oysters were great and the beer was cold. I hope I get to heaven and find out it’s exactly like the inside of Roux 61 on a Louisiana afternoon.

I had the pleasure of having lunch at this fine establishment and was amazed by the great service from their awesome looking staff and the delicious cuisine. The prices weren’t too bad and the food came in a timely fashion. I’d definitely be returning and recommend to others as well.

Dined in with my wife and daughter the other day. The service was certainly above average, and the establishment was very clean. My family enjoyed watching the ducks, turtles and hoping to see a gator in what appears to be a storm drainage creek that can be observed from the back patio. As a family we shared the meals, but I picked the Combo Platter with coconut shrimp and popcorn shrimp and substituted sweet potato fries(for a $ 1) while my wife ordered a half dozen of char-grilled oysters and personally paired it with a Rouxlaxer(margarita) that was ½ off during happy hour. The parking lot fills up quick! I enjoyed what I ordered, but was not a big fan of my wife’s oysters.

Great local spot in Baton Rouge. Highly recommended by my hotel on my stop here… I totally agree with the recommendation! Cool casual Southern atmosphere with a cool menu. — Seafood Smothered Potato was OUTSTANDING! Many other things on the menu if love to try on my next spin through!

Fast. Friendly. Delicious! This Mississippi establishment is a great addition to Baton Rouge. The place is enormous, but the lay out is such that it has a nice atmosphere. The menu is comprehensive and includes many seafood favorites. The food comes out super fast, even when the place is slammed. We’ve been for dinner and lunch and both experiences were great. I find it a bit pricey, but worth it overall.

Delicious! We had the gator and shrimp cheesecake, seafood platter and delta queen. It was all great! Excellent flavoring and large portions. I also recommend the Roux Rita and the Natchez mule. The service was friendly and on top of everything. We will definitely be back!

My mom and I ate here for the first time after a relaxing massage and it was an overall good experience. The side salad was rich in fresh greens, feta, pecans, and mandarin oranges. Very flavorful. The fried pickles were fried just right. I had the shrimp poboy– it was ok, nothing special but tasty. My mom had the seafood potato which was really good. It came with shrimp, crabmeat, and oysters and a sauce that was amazing. Had really good flavor. Beware-the serving size for the seafood potato is enough for two people.

Ordered take out tonight and my guy approves of the gumbo!!! This is a really big deal because in the three years we’ve known each other, he’s never given more than a «it’s okay» for gumbo — ever! This gumbo ranked«pretty good!» I asked him about three times in utter disbelief just to be sure. Roux side salad was phenomenal — baby greens with cranberries, feta, candied pecans, orange slices, tomato, thin slice of garlic baguette. Caesar was also good — came with lettuce, croûton, shredded parmesan. Club sandwich on wheatberry is packed with delicious ingredients. Etoufee is pretty good, but the blackened catfish is reeeeeally good. Considering that this was take out that we picked up 15 min til close and everything still tasted awesome half an hour later, we’re thinking we’ve found another go-to restaurant!

Burgers were greasy, gator bites were good, did I mention the burgers were greasy!!! Super greasy! The bun on the bottom was soaking wet. And what did four burgers and an appetizer cost? $ 70! I spoke to the general manager and store manager on the phone and both didn’t care. Didn’t offer me anything? It would have cost you a whole lot less to compensate me for the burgers than to have potential customers read about your greasy food and lack of customer service.

Really good food! They serve mostly seafood with some burger and steak options as well. I would like to say that the shrimp and alligator cheesecake was delightful! It’s not quite as good as Jacques-Imo’s in New Orleans but it’s a close 2nd. The salad dressings are awesome and taste like they’re made in house; we had Caesar and Italian. I had the Coconut Shrimp and my friend had the Crawfish Pasta they were both good. Portions are HUGE! Really! Share. For dessert we ordered crème brûlée, unfortunately the top of it wasn’t as torched as I like. Overall the experience was good but it could have been better. The waitress had absolutely no knowledge of the menu. I asked her for the sauce that goes with my coconut shrimp and she said it didn’t come with any, although I should try the Caribbean sauce [what it’s supposed to come with]. My friend asked for parade ground on tap and she she told us that they didn’t have it. I knew they had it because I saw it myself. I asked if she was sure and she told me that she asked another waiter and they said no but she would check again with the bartender. It’s their seasonal beer… They should have known that. I’ll go back again but they really need to school their waitstaff on the menu!

Dining with my super picky 78 year mother can be ultra challenging. Too spicy, too this, not enough that. Grrrrr Thank heaven for Route 61! Finally!!! a place where not a negative word was uttered! They were hungry and we did order some food. Chargrilled oysters — ultra critical of them after Dragos — not here, really tasty and big! The raw oysters were plump and perfect — not too salty. Fried green tomatoes — best I’ve ever had. Soft shelled crabs’ batter was a bit on the spicy side for the folks, but they ate it, and enjoyed some good hearty chunks of delicious white crabmeat. They just might give a few of the more established seafood and steak places a reason to amp it up! Oh, I need to mention that the service was spot on. Now I know why the parking lot is always full!

Stopped in for a quick bite to try the new place in town. Friendly staff, nice décor inside, open feel but also some divided nooks which would serve small groups, office gatherings, etc. Some nice views on the east/northeast side of the restaurant. Sat in the Oyster Bar and ordered a cup of seafood gumbo and a stuffed portobello mushroom, sipping on an Old Fashioned. The gumbo was good. Solid. Nothing surprising or inventive, just solid seafood gumbo. Best part was the roux — dark and rich. Portobello mushroom was tasty and a generous portion for an appetizer. Plenty of popcorn shrimp, crawfish sauce, spinach bed was fresh and crabmeat stuffing was very tasty. Would definitely order that again. Old fashioned was good. Definitely above average. Tuesday night is half off on all oysters. The chargrilled menu on that looks like it’s worth a try. Will come back for that. All in all — solid is the word I’m sticking with for this review. If you’re looking for crazy inventive dishes — the menu doesn’t scream that. But what I had was nicely done and there may be some surprises in the menu — we will see! Taylor was the bartender — very helpful, seems to know her way around the bar. Went back for a second visit — with a friend. I tried the Roux 61 House Salad — topped with Blackened Grilled Catfish — and Honey Mustard Dressing. In a word — DELICIOUS. The catfish was tender and moist — the salad was generous in its portion and creative in its compliments. Particularly like the combo of candied pecans, dried cranberry, feta cheese and tomatoes. Definitely worth a repeat!

The restaurant seems a bit smaller than it looked. It wasn’t packed like it always seems because it was an early dinner/late lunch. The waiter was really nice and friendly. Their house salad is unique in that it has cranberries, mixed greens and feta cheese maybe crushed walnuts not sure. The Cesar was normal not amazing. My boyfriend is picky so they made him kind of a more normal house salad with bacon bits on top. I had chargrilled oysters since it was the end of oyster season I believe they were called oysters Diablo they had jalapeños and bacon bits in them. My boyfriends parents had grilled shrimp which I thought were seasoned extremely well. My boyfriend had a catfish/crawfish étouffée house specialty dinner. Not sure what it was called exactly. It was good could always be spicier in my opinion. Overall we picked yummy plates thus to me it’s 5 stars.

After hearing the hype, I was excited to try Roux 61 for lunch. The restaurant layout is huge and they can serve a lot of people. I will have to give our waiter two thumbs up. He was extremely attentive(but not a pest), friendly and fast. He also provided recommendations on the menu, which is always appreciated. He quickly brought out drinks and stayed nearby. We ordered two appetizers — stuffed portobello mushroom(not bad) and fried mozzarella sticks(they were huge, cheese quality ok). They arrived within minutes of us ordering. My house salad arrived before my meal and was packed with yumminess — cranberries, pecans, feta. It is very awkward to eat in the small bowl it is served in. There is an up charge if you wanted to substitute coleslaw in your meal. I ordered the combo catfish and popcorn shrimp seafood platter. Yowzah —gigantic. It was $ 20.95 and packed —easily shareable for two. I was disappointed to find a blonde hair in my food – eck. Although the waiter took it away quickly and returned, I’m not sure the food was redone as it was not piping like when it first arrived. Also, it would have been great to have a manager stop by to apologize as that left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, not bad. The food was decent and on par with others in town. The whole hair issue is why I’m leaving three stars. The thing that differentiates them would probably be the speed and service.

Bring your appetite!!! As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the service is great to say how busy they are. The food was awesome and the portions are huge. Soon as the waiter arrived with our orders, we immediately asked for To-go boxes. We had the alligator & shrimp cheesecake for a appetizer and I must say it was different but pretty good. So do be cautious to give it a try. In my opinion, Sammy’s Grill is in trouble if this restaurant continue to perform at this level in the future.

Normally when I check out a restaurant that is barely a month old, I expect some service flaws and inefficiencies but in my 2 trips to Roux 61 I’ve been impressed at their staff’s professionalism, speed, and accuracy of orders! Not only is the bar service spectacular, their happy hour between 4−6pm cannot be beat with ½ off most drinks on the menu. If you are in the mood for a snack, their raw oysters are fresh from Plaquemines Parish and shucked right before your eyes(if you’re lucky enough to snag a spot at the oyster bar). Need something a little more substantial? The steak bites and seafood nachos hit the spot and fill that void in your belly. Ready to go back after the holiday to try some entrees and more of their specialty cocktails for sure. This is my new regular hang-out :)
