Got takeout and this place far exceeded expectations. The food was sensational, even after brining it home. The order was accurate. Proportions were more than enough to share. Not really much else to say, food was fantastic. Highly recommend!

We are not from the NJ area and almost bypassed this restaurant based on the amount of Unilocal stars. However, the proximity was right. My husband, who grew up eating his grandmother and his mother’s Italian meals, wanted to try Veneto. And we were happy to report we were not disappointed. My husband ordered Nonna Angelina Sunday Dinner which was Braciole, Meatball and Sausage Over Rigatoni. My mother and I ordered Zuppa Di Pesce which was Calamari, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels And Scallops over Linguini. Not only were the portions generous, but they were nicely plated. All the ingredients tasted fresh. The tomato sauce tasted light and smooth. It was well balanced — not too light that you did not taste the fresh tomatoes, but not too heavy that it would smother the delicate taste of the seafood. Each Italian family has its own signature recipe for braciole. My husband described the meat as tender and flavorful, reminescient of his childhood Sunday dinners in Brooklyn. The meal came with garlic bread, small knots that melt in your mouth. I could have made a meal of them; they were that good. I see from other reviews that service is a problem. Personally, I thought the waitperson was cordial and efficient. He took our order and brought out our drinks and the bread while we waited for the meals to be prepared. He glanced at our table intermittently to see if we wanted or needed something more. I don’t know what else I could have expected. The service was above average. I certainly would recommend this restaurant, and I look forward to coming back.

The Food is Good But The Kids Behind The Counter Are Horrible. I called in a pizza order, and remembered they had a deal for ½ off a meal. I questioned the kid on the phone about it, and he said yes, but it was pick up only. So, I ordered an eggplant parmesan. When I got there, the kids behind the counter charged me full price for the eggplant parm. I questioned him about it, and he said it was buy one, get the second half off. He never said that on the phone when I asked about the deal, or mentioned it when I ordered one eggplant parm. So, I ordered the second parm and waited for it. They just wanted to sell two parms that night. The kids thought it was funny, and laughed out loud about it. I heard the one say«I got another one». They lost me as a customer, and my friends will know how they jerk you around. I hope the $ 20 in sales was worth the $ 500+ in lost sales this year. I threw both parms out when I got home, I was so mad.

I just so happen to eat here often. They have a great staff and they often cater all of our corporate events. Our staff really enjoy their pizza and other menu items. I personally am a fan of their BBQ wings. They have great parking since they are located in a mini plaza. They offer outside seating as well. They are clean and orderly as well. You really can’t go wrong with this place. Gotta love Veneto!!!

Not the best Italian in the world but it’s not bad either. Try the fried calamari and penne arrabiata. The pizza is pretty good too. They have many gourmet slices available. They also offer gluten free which is also nice.

The slices and the convenience of Veneto’s are essentially the only good things about this restaurant. The cheese and pepperoni are greasy and unappealing, but the buffalo/Sicilian/Margherita slices are very tasty. Pastas are merely palatable. The one star rating is for the terrible service at Veneto’s. As an actual restaurant(and not a freaking fast food establishment) the staff should have some professionalism and actually resemble some FRIENDLY people. My friends and I visit Veneto’s very often, and we spend a significant amount of money on group dinners/luncheons. Personally, I’ve been to venetos over fifty times as it’s very conveniently located in the Hills. Every single time I’ve visited venetos I have ordered very standard fare, including pizza/chicken fingers/fries. For the past four visits, they have forgotten the fries completely. After I order, they immediately crumple the receipt(perhaps because I’m a HELPLESS teen??) and throw it out, giving me lots of stress because then I had to remember my order. When the cashier took my order, he did absolutely nothing after a few minutes. He did not tell anyone what I had ordered, and it was apparent that he was keeping my order INHISHEAD instead of actually writing it down. Thirty minutes later, he came around and asked me if I had received my fries. I hadn’t. After happening again, I began asking about my order of fries(and they NEVER remember!!). The more elderly italian gentleman(perhaps the owner)? has a HORRIBLE attitude and treats customers very terribly. He looks frustrated whenever taking an order and seems to hate his job. This restaurant should be less successful, but it’s still the only restaurant within walking distance for my little community.

Ok pizza and wings. We come here often only because it is the only local pizzeria. Expensive compared to other pizzerias

I’m definitely surprised by the overall low rating for this place and, I must admit, I actually avoided this place for a while due to the lower Unilocal ratings. However, I actually think the pizza is pretty tasty. They’re located in the Hills and they’re pretty convenient to where I live. Here are some things I like about this place vs some things that I think can be improved: Pros — Good pizza. This is probably the biggest draw but I’ve been pretty impressed with some of the specialty pies they offer. I don’t know the name of it but they make a great specialty pie with sausage, tomatoes and ricotta. Give it a try — it’s good. — They deliver. Delivery is huge and they accept credit card payment upon delivery which is really cool. One of the only places I’ve ever seen that does this. Cons — No website. Come on, guys. It’s 2015. It’s actually a drawback and prevents me from ordering from here more often. I hate having to ask the guy who answers the phone to go over the specialty pies with me. — They messed up my last order which wasn’t too big of a deal because they did bring another pie that was good. If they had a website, this definitely would have been avoided. I do like this place but I also think they could make some quick improvements like adding a website. Prices are a little on the higher side but we’re in Basking Ridge so I get it. The good part about this place is that the pizza is good. I’ll definitely continue to work this place into my «pizza rotation».

Best pizza in the world! I’m a born and raised New Jerseyian, so I know good pizza. Excellent family owned restaurant. Besides having good pizza, all their other food is delicious as well.

For crust lovers, Veneto Trattoria is your #1 stop. Veneto’s strongest point is that they always cook their pizza’s perfectly– even with thick crust and a heavy layer of cheese. Their specialty pizzas always come with a generous amount of cheese and toppings– quite a feast! Their Chicken Caesar and Chicken Marsala Pizza are clear favorites for me. I also get my Broccoli Spinach fixings here on their white vegetable pizza; this essentially allows me to eat pizza every day and not skip my vege’s! Unfortunately they no longer do deep dish pizza, which was so well balanced with all the cheese and toppings. However, they still make a mean Sicilian. Over the years I see that the staff are very nice people too. I didn’t get that at first as they don’t smile a lot. One could say they are tsundere!

We order from them once or twice a month because they deliver and we’re local. Delivery can take up to an hour. Check your food when they deliver to make sure it’s all there! Their tomato sauce tends to be thick and quite good. Their pizza cheese quality is OK, nothing to write home about. Crust is standard. Prices are higher than we like. A large chicken parm pizza can be pricey at $ 22 but it’s substantial enough that if you add some salad or sides you can feed four people with average appetites for about $ 10 each. Their sicilian-style pizza is one of their hidden gems IMHO if you like the thicker crust, and you get a lot of pizza for the price even with a plain cheese. I suggest asking for a double-cut on their sicilian to make it easier to eat. If you like lots of tomato sauce on your pizza, order extra sauce on the side for dipping, because I’ve found they sometimes tend to be a bit light on the sauce on their pizzas. I’ve also enjoyed their rice balls — quite good. As a takeout place, I’d rank it as a strong average. We will continue to order from them.

Their pizza is pretty good but tonight I ordered takeout Risotto with Filet Mignon for my daughter who does not enjoy pizza.(over the phone, I heard him ask if they had any filet mignon left). To my surprise and dismay, half of the meat in the dish was chicken while the other half was some type of thinly sliced cheap steak that did not resemble filet mignon in the slightest. Will stick to their pizza in the future.

Could be the worst excuse for an Italian restaurant in New Jersey. The food was overpriced and barely edible. They had no bread at 730 Saturday evening. The one waitress for the dining room was in shock when two couples entered… and her service showed it. No salad or any accompaniment was served. No décor. No music… you had to whisper not to bother the other few diners in the room. The wait for service and later a check was interminable. My God! One star is too many.

I have only had menu items from their entrees, but they are yum. I love the eggplant parm because it has all the great aspects of the dish without being too salty, which is rare. That’s the only thing I’ve ordered because the rest of the reviews online make the pizza seems horrible. I’ve had various other hot entrees from different catered events and they are always scrumptious. I only give it a 4 and not a 5 because I have never tried their pizza!

The pizza at Veneto’s is the best around. I always order a larger pepperoni which has a little spice to it for delivery and it always arrives in perfect condition and on time. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere in there when I pick up is really good. Venteto’s is the best pizza I’ve had in NJ!

This review is for the restaurant side. Food is not good at all. What do you expect from a place that serves half price dishes M-Th. Pasta was burnt and flavors were bland. Go elsewhere.

I often go to this Restaurant and bring a friend for the 2 for 1 special, Sun through Thurs. Being a Trenton native and a fan of DeLorenzo’s, I love the Gnocchi with the Bolognese sauce. I often scoop it up with their plentiful garlic knots. Two dinners are only $ 15 and change. For an additional $ 5.99, one can munch away on their crispy, ample Calamari with a spicy tomato sauce for dipping. I think that this is a great mid week deal for a delectable dinner. I’m working my way through the back-page specials, but try their shrimp, it’s so fresh! The restaurant also is a BYOB. With a liquor store only steps away in the same Mall in the Hills, how can u go wrong? I’m surprised that folks only try the take-out pizza next door. They also have several tables outside for Alfresco dining! Read my other reviews, I’m often critical and picky. This place is a real find for a sit-down, pleasant dinner.

This place is OK. If you live in the Hills or have nowhere else to go. The pizza is average, the prices are a little high.(I paid $ 8 for the smallest piece of garlic bread I’ve ever seen and actually laughed out loud when I was told the price thinking it was a joke.) Their gelato is pretty damn good though and was a nice surprise to find that they served it there after my rude awakening that the Dunkin Donuts next door didn’t come equipped with a Baskin Robbins… grrrr There is also a restaurant attached to the pizzeria which I’ve never been to but from the looks of it I’d just as well stay away and order pizza from the other side. I give this place a C+. If you can manage to drive a mile or two in either direction though you might find a better place.

I’m very surprised at the previous reviews. Venetos always has a steady business(and, given the location and the number of retail failures in the same shopping center, that says a lot; there are many options). My family has always adored their pizza, garlic knots, and neighborhood/family appeal. Their Margarita pizza is the best we’ve had. And the pasta specials most weeknights offer a great combination of quality and value. I’ve twice sampled the pizza at the Raritan establishment mentioned below, and I can’t for the life of me fathom how that reviewer recommends that one over Venetos. Reasonable palates will differ, I guess.(Though I will give a nod to the Ridge Restaurant in downtown Basking Ridge for a slightly better pizza crust). On a «price/satisfaction» scale, I give this 4 stars. So get in line and enjoy!
