Killer killer killer killer. Damn good sandwich. I’m bringing out-of-town company here.

The Il Padrino sub is the best, everything is fresh and made to order. Could use a bigger selection of sides, chips etc. but these sandwiches are like what you’d expect to find in an Italian deli in New York. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. I just went to Luigis about an hour ago & got the tuna sandwich — forget the real name. There was hardly any tuna on it & ive been there 4−5x since they reopened & every sandwich I’ve gotten hasn’t had much meat on it. Idk what had happened to them but they are not as good as they were before they closed & reopened. For $ 9.50/sandwich I expect more. I won’t be going there anymore.

Delicious sandwiches & great byob dine-in with front– and back-patio area! Also, conveniently located next to the wine source, a liquor store with great beer and wine selection!

I ate here a few months back and got the Gandolfini. It was tasty and I was happy with the $ 10 sandwich though it was not«stuffed» as some reviewers have noted. I returned today expecting the same quality. I ordered the Scooch. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as good as the previous visit. There was, literally, one piece of meat and barely a slice of cheese. The greens where just shy of moldy as the taste was quite clear they had outlived themselves. The smeared hots didn’t mix well with the completely drenched balsamic bread. The sandwich was mostly an overpowering acidic mouthful. With a dozen great Italian Sandwich shops in Baltimore City and County including Mastellone’s, Scittino’s, Isabella’s and more, I might think twice about heading here again. I’ll wait and see.

Terrific sandwiches! The Scooch and Vesuvio are my go to menu items, but everything I’ve tried here has been delicious. The bread in particular is top notch. I also frequent here just to get deli meats. I really haven’t found anything as good as their peppered turkey.

We’ve visited a few times to get their consistent sandwiches to go, and while they’re not perfect or a destination place for us, they’re definitely decent. I usually stick to the caprese, which always needs a bit of salt and pepper but does have good fresh tomato and the right ratio of tomato to basil to mozzarella.(Marked down on flavor a little because of how much better Atwater’s tastes because of their pesto and good olive oil; and Stonemill’s bread has more flavor.) D gets their Italian cold cut with the usual few modifications, and definitely appreciates that the meat is always freshly cut and the dressing is good. Pro-tip — if you’re doing to go and not having it immediately, ask for the dressing/sauce on the side and they’ll very happily give you side containers so the bread doesn’t get soggy.

Where can you get a big-ass hot sandwich loaded with Italian deli meat and cheese, then eat it while you people-watch from the front porch? Luigi’s, that’s where. And thus, they get my 400th review. The subs, whether cold or hot off the panini press, run $ 9.50 per. But they are, as I previously stated, fairly Big Ass Sandwiches for the price. I should have eaten half and taken the rest with me for later, but the hot drippy porchetta with melted provolone, sliced tomato and herbed olive oil combo in front of me wasn’t having it. I scarfed the whole thing. No regrets. The goodies were layered into a sub-type roll with a good crispy crust and a tender, chewy interior. A sane person would have made two meals of it. Take-out’s no problem, there are a half-dozen tables in the front dining room, another couple on the porch, and a row of stools fronting a counter that overlooks the 36th St. sidewalk. Great place to scarf lunch, drink a cold fizzy San Pellegrino citrus soda, and watch Hampden stroll by a few feet away. Bonus — there’s a BYOB deck/patio out back. Definitely something to consider once hot summer days roll ’round again.

Really delicious deli sandwiches. Took a little time but worth the wait! The bread is insanely good.

Not a very good experience dining here. Definitely not a place to take a child(as there is nothing for them to eat – not even mayo for a basic sandwich!). The employees were very rude and unfriendly. We spent over $ 50 on 3 sandwiches. My sandwich was wrapped in such a way that when I went to open it, it rolled out of the package onto their dirty floor. When I mentioned it to the owner, he shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes. We were the only customers in the joint and just spent $ 50 and he wouldn’t even OFFER to give me another sandwich. I truly didn’t expect him to replace it, but he didn’t even offer. He just looked at me like I was stupid. Luigi’s is a disgrace to the DiPasquales name. You should definitely make the trip to Highlandtown for the real thing, not this place. Will not be going back.

Since they opened the vegetarian food sucks. Got the fun-gi, totally regret coming. Got the sandwhich as it were off the menu, should have asked for more stuff, it was very sparse. Lettuce wilted cause they heated it up. Worst part was the sandwhich was soaked in balsamic. Couldn’t finish it, basically was a soggy salad dressing soaked piece of bread, a few pieces of arugla and some mush.

Amazing sandwiches! Fresh bread, delicious meats, and friendly service. A true Italian joint. My boyfriend got the cold cut and I got the skooch and they were both delicious. Will be coming again soon!

I want to say i loved this place but my sandwich wasn’t really that good — however the boyfriends sandwich was phenomenal. I had the Pandrino. I mean the flavors were ok, but there was just a huge part of me that wanted something crunchy along with it, it was all just mush in my mouth. Boyfriend had the Italian cold cut — really great. Very quaint setting — weird ordering/waiting area because its so small. They do have outdoor seating though.

Really good subs. The owner is really rude though(not to clients, but about them). He talks about anyone that comes in there. I had the joy to listen to him trash talk his clients.

They were briefly closed to remodel, and it was worth it, the place looks great. I stopped to get a sandwich, and picked up a small order of caprese salad. My only regret is that I didn’t get a large. The best caprese salad I’ve ever had!

Love, love, love this place! Everything I’ve tried is delicious and high quality. I keep coming back to the Vesuvio and Tonno Diavolo. The bread is fresh with just enough chew to hold up the heavier, wetter sandwich fillings but also yields pleasantly to teeth. The meat, cheese and vegetables are always fresh and flavorful. The Italian coldcut is actually heavy and I usually get three meals out of it by taking out some of the meat and cheese for subsequent sandwiches(cheapskate student talking here). The last sandwich I had there was a bit skimpy on the fillings and I felt a little ripped off but it was a new young woman putting sammies together solo during the lunch rush so I’m assuming that wasn’t the start of a new trend, just a stressed out new employee. Best sandwich place around hands down. Come back to us soon!

The sandwiches here are the jam. Had the meatball hoagie and it was gigantic and very tasty. Another great spot to add so that you have a good Italian deli in the north in addition to the west(Trinacria) and the east(D’Pasquale’s).

So ze battle continues: Will it be Trinacria? Di Pasquale’s? Or Luigi’s to take home the best sammich in Bmore? Well, I like them all three, almost all equally(I see haters seething now, but be calm, it’s just a sandwich…). What I love about Luigi’s is that 1. it’s in Hampden, 2. the bread is always delicious and crunchy, 3. and the toppings are flavorful. Only downside is that after they make it for you, the entire place is smoky like grilled bread. And you will smell like grilled bread for the rest of the day. Not that it’s a bad thing: D

I really love the bread at Luigi’s and I always get the Gabriella(chicken, pesto, mozzarella) or a sausage roll They’re usually pretty quick and I’m always happy(except one time they messed up and gave me the wrong sandwich but I didn’t say anything, which was my bad :/Whatever they gave me was fine but really not what I wanted) Also I wish they had hours in the evening during the week ;(

Nothing here except juice for a vegan! There are, however, a few vegetarian options. i love that they have cold-pressed juice on the menu, but the first time I came, I couldn’t order juice because they stop making it at 11 a.m.(sad) and the second time I ordered it(came in the morning!) they girl told me that she«couldn’t find the juicer.» How does that even happen?! After reading all the rave reviews about the meatball sub, I picked one up for my boyfriend on his birthday. He liked it, but it is literally an entire loaf of bread, hollowed out, and stuffed with meatballs and cheese. I think he prefers a more traditional meatball sub, but he did manage to finish it(in two sittings).
