The food is pretty good however depending on the night you go, the service lacks. We always get sushi rolls. Yummy yum roll, ninja roll, mango roll are delish. We get the salt/pepper chicken dish which is our favorite. It consists of chicken onions and jalapeños I believe sautéed.

Came here on a Tuesday for lunch and it wasn’t crowded at all. They have two areas to be seated. It actually seemed empty and almost out of business in the first half of the seating. Kind of awkward. They have pretty good lunch sushi deals. I think they were pick 2 types of rolls for $ 10 and pick 3 for $ 12? Something close to that. We tried the spicy salmon roll and eel roll. The quality of sushi was surprisingly good. Too bad I live in Fed Hill to actually make the hike here all the time. The reason why I gave this place a 3 star over a 4 star is because the ramen. You would think a place serving ramen would know how to cook ramen. But… I was wrong. Deeply disappointed. I’m just going to list a bunch of problems with the ramen. 1) The soup base was watered down. 2) There was a lack in amount of meat. 3) The egg was supposed to be poached? Even if they express that it isn’t supposed to be poached, the egg seems to be overcooked. Those are just some of my concerns. I would have given this place a 2 due to the ramen(which costs $ 11!!!), but their sushi and customer service was commendable. I will not be coming back here anytime soon.

Ramen is one of my favorite foods, so naturally I was ecstatic that a place opened in my neighborhood a few months ago in the form of Katana. I really really really liked this place, but sadly it has gone downhill quickly and I don’t know why. At first, I was in love. The pork belly was crispy, salty, spiced, and caramelized to perfection. The broth was rich and complex. The noodles were expertly cooked. The egg yolk was perfectly soft and gooey. Not the best ramen I’ve had in my life, but certainly worth $ 15. Naturally, I became a sort of regular. I’ve been back several times and unfortunately, since my first few visits, the quality has deteriorated rapidly in almost all categories. Today, my egg yolk was dry and crumbly, the broth was one-dimensional, and worst of all, the pork belly wasn’t even cooked(like to the point that it was inedible). Truly. The pork belly is what killed it for me. I love pork belly, and all you need is a good sear. Instead I got a bunch of goopy pork fat, sans flavor. Ugh. The noodles are still good, so they have that going for them — but package ramen can fulfill that craving. $ 15 for something I could get in the grocery store for less than $ 1!!! The saving grace is that the service is always excellent. They give you a free item from the kitchen once in awhile. And the bartender Jason is the nicest! I know katana has it in them to make great ramen. And I’ll come back again to make sure this was just a phase. But not more than a couple more times — eventually my disappointment will just be too much to bear :(

I ordered sushi from here for the first time with Order Up and was hoping for a delicious meal. What I got instead was warm(raw) sushi that was a little funky tasting. It is by far the worst sushi I’ve had in Baltimore. I actually had to throw away the majority of my meal because I was afraid that the sushi was bad. What sucks is that the prices were pretty steep too, I could have had quality sushi from RA(for cheaper) if only I wasn’t too lazy to drive to pick it up. If you have the choice between this place and Shiso Tavern or RA Sushi, do yourself a favor and pick the places that are guaranteed to deliver quality every time.

Pretty good food but shoddy service. Mango roll was the shining star for me. I could eat that ish for days, no joke. This is the 3rd sushi place I have tried in charm city. Others including Azumi and Namami. Quality is(shockingly) on par w Azumi(sushi at least) but with way better prices. Now to the service: the appetizer came out after the entrée but Christ forbid you take 2 min to sign the check! Literally had servers trying to rip the check out of our hands lol. You’d think we were the last party there closing out the restaurant or something(we weren’t).

Mediocre at best. Only went here because the parking was terrible at the better rated sushi place around the corner. I should have walked.

I had driven by Katana multiple times, but never had a chance to step in until this past week. some of my friends were craving noodles and I suggested we give Katana’s ramen a try. My table got an order of the Fruity Ninja to start. Sweet sushi seemed a bit odd on paper, but it was a pretty good in practice. Food came out hot, on point, and worthy of my friends instagram accounts. I can’t speak for my friends ramen, but I was very pleased with my Spicy(pork) Ramen. Broth was a good consistency, not too thick and far from watery. I found it to be less salty(for ramen) than some of the other offerings found in Baltimore. Overall service was overall was great, except… The only reason they lose out on a star is due to no free refills on coffee. I know this ultimately is on me for not checking for the fine print, but it would have been polite if they had mentioned this fact when I asked for a refill. Despite the double charge, the coffee was pretty good. I definitely will be back again and will stick to the tea next time.

A tad pricey, but worth it. I got the crazy spider roll, which was fantastic. Thought I’d try the safety of a California roll, and it was also delicious. My last pick was the sweet potato roll, which ended up being dinner. The portions are quite generous. I ordered carry-out, so can’t comment on the service. My order was ready just as I arrived to pick it up, and both employees I encountered were very nice. I will likely come here again.

This is definitely one of my favorite sushi places in town. They have the usual fare, including some inspired maki rolls, and something I have never seen before — no rice rolls. In lieu of rice they are just fish and veg, and they are fantastic! In addition to great sushi(fish is always fresh and tasty) they have ramen. I don’t eat it but my neighbor has and she swears by it. They’re also really fast for take-out. Our sushi is usually ready to go in 5 – 10 minutes. It’s a little pricy, hence the 4 stars, but it is definitely worth the price. As an aside, I have heard that there is another restaurant by this name out in the county. I’m not sure whether they’re affiliated but I have heard that the county one is not as good. So if you’ve been disappointed there don’t hold it against this location!

Such a happy day when Katana FINALLY opened. Canton was severely lacking in a really great sushi joint. Sushi are rolled perfectly. Not too much rice, which is refreshing bc most places have an inch thick layer and you could barely taste the fresh salmon or tuna you’ve ordered! They have all the basic rolls, but also some specialty rolls which are just as delicious. Their lunch special is pretty similar to most sushi joints. 2 or 3 rolls for a set price and comes with soup or salad. I was incredibly excited for the ramen – which is okay, not the best… But totally hits the spot when you have a craving. Baltimore needs to get on this ramen grind! Service is great – everyone is super friendly and attentive. My go to sushi spot in Canton for sure.

I cannot say enough for this place. It’s in a spot that appears to struggle and has changed many times since I have lived in Charm City. I sure hope they make it though, because the service and people are so great, and the food is even better. The first time I went, we ordered a bunch of sushi from the menu and special board. I totally recommend checking out the special board and step a little out of your comfort zone. It is fresh and different then what you would normally expect. On that day — there two cuts of blue fin, which we also combined with the salmon skin roll, and some other sushi classics. I have been back and I will definitely be going back. We spent a few moments deciding on drinks — I am still struggling a little to figure out what I will be drinking there — I don’t love the wine list, nor sake. So I have been trying out the cocktails, especially since they are on happy hour. I started with the Hey Jealousy a reference to the Gin Blossoms, combining gin and little St. Germain. Enough already, on the food — it’s fun to watch the chef make the dishes — he is so focused and his pride shows in the flavor and presentation. We started with the live scallop, which astonished everyone sitting around us, since most, including me, had never seen an actual scallop shell. The thin slices of sweet scallop, placed on a tart lemon slice is a great combo. The center of the slices is a slaw style salad with a little seaweed and some of the sweet meat that attached the muscle to the shell. This chef is definitely introducing me to some new tastes and textures. I can’t complain — I’d get it every day. This week, they also had red and black snapper sushi. The two fish were so different. The red was a little fattier and slightly buttery texture, I liked it slightly better than the black snapper, which was a little more delicate. Still both great. One more time, go for the specials. We then shared some sake with the chefs, and finished the meal with a few slices of sashimi.

This is a great little new Sushi restaurant off of Boston street between Fells & Canton. The location seems to have had a really unlucky streak in the last handful of years with unsuccessful business having to close down within months of first opening. It looks like Katana is finally here to stay! The place is run by Chinese servers, chefs, and employees. But the quality of the sushi(fresh fish and other Japanese ingredients) is pretty excellent. For example, when I go to Japanese restaurants in Baltimore not run by Japanese people, I definitely don’t expect the best quality and variety of fish, especially when the menu indicates that the selection of sushi or sashimi will be «Chef’s choice». But this place the first place in Baltimore to have surprised me. I ordered a sushi platter/bento box for dinner and the components of the box were all good. Some great. Some just good. They include soup, tempura assortment, shumai dumplings, salad, etc. And you have a choice of a main. I decided to try the nigiri sushi bento. The choice of the 5 nigiri blew me away. Some were quite delicate and I know my fish… they were quite exotic and expensive fishes that you would normally have to pay a lot for if you ordered them by the piece on a specials board. I was very impressed. The presentation of food is lovely here. So is the service. They renovated the space a lot and they did a fantastic job. The inside is spacious and welcoming. I would recommend this place for lunch and dinner. Great deals. Great sushi and Japanese fare. And they also offer other Asian/Chinese dishes, if you’re looking for something a little more garlic or spice-infused. Bön appetit!

I don’t get it. Really. Lots of great reviews, and then I go and am vastly underwhelmed(insert sad face here)! First of all, In a big believer in the quality to price ratio. If I go somewhere cheap, I don’t expect a gourmet meal or anything innovative. Conversely, if I’m paying higher than average for my victuals — as was the case here — I have higher expectations. Alas, I was disappointed. The good quality was just okay, and the quantity rather sparse. The biggest villain was the scallops appetizer, which was virtually swimming in a substance that strongly resembled thousand island dressing. Yick! Our sushi and sashimi selections were nothing to write home about, with smaller quantities than the majority of sushi places. With so many sushi joints in easy reach, I’d be surprised if I find myself forking over substantial bucks here for less than stellar sushi.

I hope this place lasts! Sushi was great and there was lots of interesting special combo rolls to choose from. Some others at the table got ramen, chicken teriyaki and a noodle dish. Consensus was the ramen was great, chicken teriyaki was so-so, noodles were good. Service was quick and attentive and I love the new décor.

This place just opened up. The atmosphere inside is pretty chill and comfortable. There’s not too many choices, so the menu isn’t overwhelming. There is a lot of tempura sushi and cooked sushi on the menu. I got the Koto Roll and the American Dream. Both spicy yellow tail with some differences. Spicy mayo on one, salmon on the other, wasabi sauce and avocado on both. They were amazing! My boyfriend got spicy pork ramen with an hard boiled egg. «It wasn’t great» he says. I tasted it, it was okay. I’m not a ramen eater though, and much preferred my sushi. It wasn’t super salty which was nice though. We got the gyoza for an appetizer(a fried pork dumpling). It felt nice and light and the texture and sauce were good. The inside of the dumpling lacks unique flavor though. Service is okay. Definitely fast if you need a quick meal.

For as much hype as Unilocal and other online reviews had for Katana I was sadly let down. The sushi was just average and they had far too many rolls that were similar to make any quick decisions. If you like everything tempura’d then this is the place for you. The service was a little awkward and we received our food before our drinks… hello people get drinks out asap to make better money! I probably won’t electively go back but this place will probably be out of business like the other 82 restuarants before it at this location.

Stopped in for lunch and tried some miso soup and a half dozen pieces of nigiri. I was very favorably impressed! The fish was excellent, fresh and flavorful. Overall the sushi was well prepared. Good miso soup … even the glass of house Pino Grigio I had surprised me. I will definitely come back to try more of the menu and would recommend it others. This location has seen the death of many restaurants. I hope this one survives.

Was really excited to have more ramen in Baltimore! My husband and I ordered the Spicy Ramen with pork and a bunch of different sushi rolls to share. The ramen was very flavorful and came with pieces of pork, half of a hard boiled egg, corn, one fish cake, seaweed, and bean sprouts. It came with a LOT of noodles, which made me wish that there were some more add-ins. The noodles were of a good chewy consistency. I liked that the broth was spicy but not overwhelming spicy that your mouth just burned the whole time. We ordered the salmon roll, Philly roll, sweet heart roll, and the American Dream roll. All of the fish were fresh and tasty. We were expecting the chef’s rolls to be a little bigger because of the price, but they were still filling. The service was okay. It was a relatively busy Friday night, so we didn’t see our waitress much. She also forgot one of my friends drink order a couple times.

Very excited to have a new place in the neighborhood. I’m not a sushi eater, so I was happy to see that they had a full menu with plenty of other options. When we arrived, it was packed and we didn’t have a reservation. We were told it would be around a 20 minute wait. We ended up only waiting around 10 minutes. The space is SO nice compared to what a dump it used to be. They did a really nice a job renovating it. Our server greeted us immediately and had our drinks to us within 5 minutes. We started with the edamame and the vegetable dumplings. Both were very good. I hope they add some specialty seasonings to the edamame instead of just plain salt in the future. For our main course, I ordered a chicken ramen and my husband ordered a spicy tuna roll and a spicy pork ramen. He really enjoyed his dishes. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of my ramen at all and decided to order something else. It was nothing that Katana did, but I guess I realized that I actually don’t like ramen! I ordered the chicken udon noodles instead and they were perfect. I look forward to visiting again and trying other dishes.

Let’s kick it off! This place was better than I expected. As a tuna sushi lover, I was happy to see that there was a dish called ‘tuna lover’. So off the bat I was pretty excited. I can’t say that it was the best tuna I have had, but definitely something I will get again since the price was also reasonable. The ramen… for what it is worth is ok as I feel it has a Chinese twist to it. Definitely my favorite in Baltimore. My favorite part of the ramen is the pork meat that comes with. Although the pork was not prepared/finished with a torch, it was still good. The cha siu add-on, was not as good. The broth does in fact need to be mixed as they do somewhat of a double broth method of ramen. The servers are awesome, hard working, and had a positive attitude throughout the evening I was there. Which was very busy since they were having their grand opening. I give this place a generous 4 stars as it is taking the ramen game in Baltimore to the next level. Will definitely return to see if their ramen game gets better with more feedback. **PLEASEMIXTHEBROTHFORTHEFULLRAMENEXPERIENCE**
