Great neighborhood bar. The beer is typically more pricey then some of the«off the square» bars but its always a good crowd, nice staff and good food. They have great food happy hour deals too and yummy brunch. The sushi is average but cheap at happy hour. Also fun to have a sushi burrito. The burgers and tots are great. Get there early if you want a seat for thurs/fri happy hour or brunch.

Had heard about this place and their craft beer selection along with their stock market like pricing. The stock market thing was a draw for me just because it was different and I was curious about how it worked. Upon experiencing it, it’s pretty gimmicky for me. The price fluctuations weren’t really enough to drive me to purchase a different beer than what I wanted to but then again, I like trying beers I haven’t had before so I was focused on those.(Stupid Untappd addiction). I think the cost of a drink varied by $ 1 – 1.50 at most. If you’re not picky about what you drink then, it may help keep your costs down for the night. I ended up doing a few sample pours for $ 2.50 each before buying a full pint of something. Anyway, food wise the menu is pretty much a mix between standard and gastropub. They have some items that are little more out of the norm but not way out there. Most of the menu was the standard wings, burgers, and fried food standbys. I was there in the afternoon so sushi wasn’t available, but I don’t think I would have gone that way anyway. It might be fine but beer bar sushi is not a far cry from grocery or gas station sushi for me. I did have their poutine which was pretty good. The curds were cubed instead of the natural round shape which was strange but still tasted fine. Fresh cut fries with a little old bay added on top of the gravy gave it a nice flavor. Service was decent. The bar was busy and the bartender paid enough attention to come by when we looked like we needed it. Food and drink was delivered quickly upon ordering. This is a Liverpool and NY Giants bar(was tempted to take off a star just for that… j/k Go Skins!). Décor was cozy, lots of wood and high topped pub tables. Good amount of TVs all over the bar for any sports event. Definitely worth a stop by for above average pub fare and a pretty solid craft beer selection.

These guys are great. A good friend of mine, and also a regular at this bar, was fundraising for cancer, and Smaltimore helped her out, but giving her a percentage of the proceeds from that night. I had been a little anti this place since the name is such a local joke, but the flags that hang outside are all from NY. Meh. One visit changed my mind. As far as sports bars go, this is the spot to watch a game and grab a bite. There are a ton of TVs and high top communal tables which makes sports even more fun. The TVs are smaller than say Mussel Bar, but the ambiance, service and food is SO much better. Plus, they have specials every night. Specials on food even during happy hour — Woot Woot! My group was there on a Wednesday, so we had 2 sliders with fries or tots(not sure who ever chooses fries when faced with this option. hah) with a beer for $ 10. I went with the bison sliders with LTO and a side of mayo. I thought these were good. Not the best, but hey, they are sliders — so temps are always going to be a little off. But, I’ll be coming back here for a burger before going to many of the«burger» spots in the city. It’s also kind of fun with the beer — they do a supply and demand style pricing — «The more pints of beer X that are sold the higher the price goes and the price of beer Y and Z goes down respectively.» I am sure it helps to keep their supply fresh and current. Smart.

Brian, the bartender, was cool and engaging. The chicken wings were awesome. This was the first time in my life that I got wings and they had enough old bay seasoning! Perfect! The burgers were great too. Very tasty. Nice atmosphere!

Wow! How have I NOT reviewed Smaltimore?! First and foremost, I really enjoy this place. They do a worthy job of rotating their brews, which are offered on a «stock market» style basis, with variable pricing that fluctuates based on demand. The result is that you can sometimes get a quality craft beer that is fairly hard to find for around the same price as a crappy Natty Boh(which, consequently, hasn’t been brewed in Baltimore for quite some time, and is brewed by the same outfit that brings us the similarly cheap and crappy PBR!). The food we’ve had in numerous visits here is generally above average, though the sushi is kind of mediocre and I was disappointed by the smallish size of a burger we once split. On the plus side, the pierogis are awesome, though we were recently quite disappointed when they were out of them! Service is typically average to above average, and — quite logically — a bit less attentive when the place is super busy and they’re running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I like the long tables on the left after entering the bar, which are communal and often good for interacting with other patrons. It can get very crowded here, so unless you want to chance things or really like crowded bars, come early or pick a less busy night of the week.

This place has a dumb name but great food. We had wings, sushi, and waffle fries. Odd combination but it was all really delicious! Buy one get one free sushi, and free beer with wings on Monday? Yes please! Not a very extensive sushi menu, but then again it’s not a sushi restaurant. Just wish they had something with shrimp tempura in it!

We would give smaltimore a 12 star review if we could. We love this place! We usually come Monday’s when they have 10 wings and a draft for 10 dollars. I don’t like beer so I usually get whatever cider is on tap, they have had not your fathers root beer on tap before also. They have bottles of Henry’s green soda and ginger ale too for the people who don’t like beer. But then they have a full bar! They give testers of the beer which is nice! They have a happy hou r everyday for sushi, buy a speciality roll, get a traditional roll for free! They have all kind burgers which are good too. They have sushi burritos which I though was amazing, I had the volcano one! defiantly a place to go!

Disappointed! I was so looking forward to trying this place. Friends had raved, the menu looked amazing from lunch to dinner to brunch. The beer selection is extensive and they do «exchange pricing» so demand drives the popular beer price up, and the price of other choices goes down. Too bad they couldn’t live up to their hype. I went for an impromptu lunch after seeing a social media post for a burger special. The male server was nice, helpful and efficient though not smooth. My companion got a veggie burger, which though tasty, is not a good consistency for a soft potato roll-it falls apart. My burger came out, and the roll was burnt. I asked a female server if I could get another roll and she acted like it was an imposition. She didn’t take my plate to investigate what had happened, she just went to the kitchen leaving my burger to get cold. When she returned some minutes later with a new roll on a plate, she did not offer or attempt to remove the burnt one. Then worse, I realized that it was not just an oversight in toasting the bread– one side of the burger was burnt too! As a 20 year industry veteran, I know that means that the cook got lazy and left it to burn, then didn’t have the integrity to make it over and sent out something substandard. What a shame that the social media campaign was a total waste! To tout a menu item to bring in new customers, only to have a cook too tired or lazy to give a damn about quality and servers not looking out for that quality is a shame. On the way to lunch, we had mused over trying brunch. After this experience of complete indifference and very disappointing meal, we will not return to eat and would not recommend it to others. It is a nicely done interior with hidden acoustic panels and lots of sports teams represented. For Premier League fans, this is a Liverpool pub. Perhaps meeting friends for a beer and to watch a match, but unless the kitchen manager steps up his game I would pass on the menu.

I really enjoy this bar! The burgers taste like your having a summer BBQ, fresh off the grill, with a potato bun just like your mom used to serve them as you were diving into the pool over the summer as a kid. There are some standard toppings for free and the rest of the add-ons are between .75 and $ 1.00. If you have or purchase a large glass, they fill it for $ 8 at any time. 10% beers for $ 8 in a large glass… you may be taking an Über home… but it’ a great price for what you’re getting. The staff are super friendly and will let you sample one of their many beers. There are about a million TVs here also, so if you’re looking for sports, this is the place. They have pretty great weekday burger deals such as 2 sliders, tots or fries, and a pint of beer for $ 10(wednesday), or a burger, tots or fries, and a pint of beer for $ 10(tuesdays). You can’t beat it! For some extra tactile sensory needs, touch under your table. Oh la la.

Came here with a small group to grab a few drinks and a bite to eat. The staff was very accommodating and allowed us to move tables around a bit to fit everyone in our group, which I appreciated! Of course most people have heard about the beer stock exchange system where the price reflects the demand. This is fun for a few minutes but then you realize that you’re probably just going to pick what you want to drink regardless of if its 6 or 7 dollars. However as far as gimmicks go it’s pretty smart and fun. They have an extensive beer list but I would have appreciated more of a description on the list to make it easier to find what you want. The loaded tots were tasty but I would have liked more ‘stuff’ on it if you were gonna call it loaded, it was a bit dry. The turkey burger was tasty but standard. Overall a nice atmosphere. Come here for the beer, not necessarily the food.

Really fun atmosphere and impressive beer list! Perfect place to go to catch a non-Ravens football game(but they did have Ravens on some tvs too!). Particularly great for Giants fans– with a giants fan BF and myself being from Baltimore, it was a perfect balance. Their draft list is SUPER long. My only slight complaint was that ¾ of it was pumpkin beers. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a pumpkin beer, but often one is enough to and I want to switch to something else. Four stars because of that beer note, prices, and because I can’t speak to their standard ambiance– I have only been once on a game day, and did not eat while there. Definitely will be back though!

Food mediocre, but service extremely poor. The bartenders suck and are extremely rude and on a Sunday you would think they could accommodate 1 of there 20TV screens to the Dolphins game for my boyfriend and 3 other fans, however they decided 15 screens were for the Ravens(which I didn’t mind) and 5 for the eagles fans. I use to love it here but the service has gone down for sure So Jayson Z just posted saying he offered to put the game on and offered our table a round of drinks. That is completely false. I guess he has such bad service normally that he has to offer a lot of people drinks. He did nothing to accommodate our requests other than saying«no» and«there is nothing I can do.» I’m more upset that he lied and tried to cover up the poor service than trying to actually accommodate us since he believes he did so. Whomever you are referring to Jayson Z was not the group that I was with Sunday September 20th. Jayson we never had an interaction. You must be referring to the other table that was closest to the door. No one in my group was watching the cowboys vs Eagles none of us are fans of that. We were 2 tables away from that group. The only person we dealt with was our server who we watched walk up to you and ask if we could change one of the channels which you immediately said no to. You never once came up to us to apologize or see if there was anything you could do. You may have done that with the other table but definitely not with ours.

Went for the first time tonight to catch the Giants-Redskins game(since I heard this place was a Giants bar). It certainly didn’t disappoint in that area… The place was packed with blue, & I’m pretty sure it was well beyond capacity since there were so many of us standing & getting in each other’s way. We only had 2 beers each(bottled domestics), but I’m not even sure what the prices were. They weren’t on the ticker screen, & when it was time to pay the bill, there was a snag due to the pre-paid card balance leaving a remainder of $ 8+. I’m fairly certain that there had been at least $ 20 remaining on the card… but I didn’t get a detailed bill, so what was I paying for? We paid the $ 8+ balance & some tip, but it would have been better to see the actual bill & not just the receipt. Of course I should have asked for this while I was there, but the amount of shouting necessary would have been a bit much. I was also surprised they held the card instead of just swiping it & giving it back like so many other places do these days. I guess if we go back for game day we’ll need to be verrrrryyyy early to get a seat.

Bad from beginning to end. After 20 minutes of circling to find parking(gotta love Canton…) I entered Smaltimore, excited to take advantage of the notorious drink specials known for being dependent on the stock market. Not only were the specials not impressive, but the bartender had a hard time explaining them. I ordered loaded waffle fries and chicken tenders, and was disappointed by both. The waffle fries were covered in this weird, powder-tasting cheese and the breading on the chicken tenders was not fully fried. I order a sushi roll as a last resort, and it fell apart before I could even touch it. $ 50 later, and I still had to go home and make some Easy Mac. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Not my favorite. The ticker tap pricing thing is annoying. I don’t really like gimmicky things like that. Their sushi is a joke. It is actually some of the worst sushi i’ve ever had, so don’t bother. Overall, I don’t have too many nice things to say except they do have a wide selection of brews and their growler prices are reasonable.

LOVED this place! I’m usually a West Side girl, through and through, but the specials here were attractive and hard to beat! To kick off a long weekend, me and the boothang came here for the promised $ 4 burgers, 2 for 1 sushi rolls, and $ 6 premium tequila drinks. We tried a lemony tuna roll and a classic salmon and avocado roll for an appetizer; the sushi was ok. I’m a sushi snob 100%, so this was definately not my favorite sushi ever, but it was fairly tasty and came out quickly. We also tried the exotic meat burgers. For $ 3.95, you could get a basic burger; some toppings are free and some are $.50 to $ 1.00. I had a wild boar burger with sauteed onions, horseradish cheddar, and bbq sauce. DELICIOUS. Mr. B had a lamb burger with some sort of house«yum yum» sauce, which was actually better with the order of super crispy tater tots we split. For dessert, we had an oreo mousse pie, which was to dieeee for. The atmosphere is great with large communal-style bar tables and lots of TVs. We were also pleased to find out this is a Liverpool bar, for when premier league soccer comes back. The service was super friendly and super prompt, which can be rare in a bar environment. At $ 6 per drink, I MAY have had too many premium tequila drinks, but I do know that this was a fun, delicious date night.

It’s an interesting concept: stock market for beer and burgers + sushi on the menu. I think that it’s a fun way to try different types of beer based on what’s priced lower based on the«market». They also have a $ 20 stein deal where you buy a $ 12 stein + $ 8 beer and you can get any beer in the future for $ 8 with that stein(25 oz so the equivalent of 2 beers). It beats the stock market. The service, though, seems not quite in sync. I came here on a Friday and the place was packed! The server told us that if we waited a few minutes, one of the large tables would be leaving soon and we could take their table. Several people came by to try to take our order, and then towards the second part of the dinner, no one came by. They took my card at the bar when I ordered a drink while waiting, but when we got the bill, they didn’t bring my card… The food is find. I a few sushi rolls and their crab tots. The crabs tots were a bit much… Very, VERY cheesy! The sushi was fine, not really wrapped that well. Their prices are a bit lower than other places, but their sushi isn’t quite as fancy as other places. Apparently they have a happy hour here from Monday — Friday from 5 — 7: half off rolls and a drink special on some of the nights…

This place was great we went there for the first time on Saturday night and it wasn’t too busy, being off the beaten path, and that’s how we like it! We actually ran into friends there which was hilarious because we were at Smaltimore! Anywho… Let’s talk about beer… The way they do their beer prices is kind of like the stock market, the prices are constantly going up and down based on the demand. I was a little disappointed that a natty boh was $ 4.50!!! I feel like they need to keep at least a couple beers on the cheap end… No beers were cheaper than that. On the flip side, that means you can get a really good beer with more alcohol content for a great deal! I got Brewer’s Art Resurrection for $ 4.75 and that was 7% alcohol by volume and was the only beer I needed all night! So even though I am cost conscious I do love good beer, so you can definitely get a good beer here and for a reasonable price. Will definitely be back soon! Mmmmmmmm beer. — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Now onto food food. Let me preface by saying the burgers and tots are phenomenal, the sushi is not… avoid at all costs. Let me explain… We went for BOGO sushi rolls during happy hour. Needless to say everyone was ordering sushi and we were notified by the bartender that there is one person making sushi so it would take at least a half hour to come out… I should have known not to order it right then and there. But I didn’t. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and the Philly roll… I think the Philly was 80% rice, 19% cream cheese and 1% salmon… essentially a rice and cream cheese roll(ew). The spicy salmon was not much different on the ratio of rice to salmon. Absolutely terrible. Do not write this place off though! THEBURGERSANDTOTSAREAMAZING!!! I would probably say best burger in Baltimore! And I will ONLY order burgers and tots from here from now on(no sushi, they should just take the sushi off the menu, it is confusing to be there in the first place and not worth it). Burgers and beers! Yum! Hands down is why Smaltimore keeps it’s 4 stars.

Where else in Baltimore can you get sushi and burgers? Came here one weekday evening when we were craving burgers. We are pleasantly surprised that the backside of the menu had an entire sushi selection. We both got a burger and an order of sushi. There the burgers weren’t humongous, but they were good. We had the smaltimore and the BBQ. Although there was a little initial hesitancy in getting sushi from a neighborhood bar, the sushi was good as well. *Note, happy hour sushi rolls are 2-for-1. The service was excellent, We were frequently visited, and didn’t have to wait long for food. The atmosphere is inviting and warmed by the glow of TVs, wall-to-wall flatscreen TVs that is. Everything in the bars clean and new. Worth checking out, especially if you are in the mood for burgers and sushi.
