Poor service. staff is not showing good attitude like other resturants. I went there for dessert but they want me to order dinner which i refuse because i wanted fried ice
they charged me double as mentioned in the menu as well as served me with simple ice cream. I personally dont recommened this resturant

Lunch specials are a great value and provide quality food. The service was quick and attentive. I came here for a casual experience and was not disappointed.

Good fast food, great service! Obviously the wait staff are very well-​trained, and have the comfort of the customer in mind at all times. Well done.

Inexpensive and above average quality good served quickly. The chips and salsa are addictive. If you want really fresh, order entrée, otherwise most items seen premade. Still delicious for a quickie. Order a grandee margarita lite on the ice for a fun time

I had a really great experience tonight! Our service was great considering the fact that we had 12 people! We called ahead because I specifically came to this location for their patio and we had a large group. They were very helpful and accurate about our wait time, we were sat very quickly. Chips and salsa were served right away, drinks were refilled often! Our waitress was very kind! Food was out fast and hot! Will be returning soon!

My family and I have been coming here for years mainly because it’s close to us and the atmosphere is pleasant. The food has always been mediocre at best.
Today however things reached a new low. As we walked by the restaurant a strong odor surrounded the place. It was so strong you couldn’t sit outside. This should have been a warning and we did consider leaving but old habits die hard. I had to ask and the waiter said it was their trash dumpster. As we were taken to our table we noticed it was filthy. The table next to us has been left untouched after previous guests left and stayed that way until the end of our meal.
I had fish tacos that were way too salty. My family had fajitas and burritos and seemed to enjoy it.
The service was slow and the waiters seemed stressed. The place was not busy. At the end of out meal we were overcharged by two extra drinks.

Best margaritas in town. Love their mushroom quesadilla and their pollo feliz. Fast and friendly service too.

Step above Taco Bell. Terrible food quality. Chips and salsa stale and tomatoe sauce salsa. The Mexican rice overcooked. Beans bland. Fajitas veggies over cooked and salty. Seafood was terrible. Fake crab embarrassing. Burrito was a large taco. Chili rellano had hamburger meat no cheese. Worst part about this experience felt sick all night.

I’m shocked at the poor reviews El Maguey is getting; I’ve only had exceptional service, and I think the food is great (it’s probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in STL). Plus the décor and ambiance is a lot of fun.

The wife and I love the El Maguey in St Charles so when we saw this on while running errands, we decided to stop in. First off, the atmosphere is nicer than normal Mexican places but it does but make up for the lack of quality in the food. The chips and salad were stale and cold. We ordered guacamole to make them better but it was from a can. The carnitas were dry and unflavored. My wife ordered a chicken dish that ended up being boiled chicken dumped over soggy tortilla chips. Even the flour tortillas were dried out and stale. Needless to say, we won’t be stopping back in here.

Arrived at 3:30 in afternoon. Left at 3:50 when no one came to our table. Onto Vallarda“s

El Maguey made me fall in love with Mexican food. I have visited all of their locations. This particular location seems to be the one I go to most. The food is great. service is good not great but good. It takes them a while to bring you your check once you are done and want to get out of there. I also noticed that quality of food has been declining lately. Last time I was there the chips were over fried or baked… whatever they do to them. That is the reason I am taking away a star. It seems like they are becoming too Americanized. No offense but real Mexican food should be made by Mexican

Food tastes like it’s fresh from the microwave, service was horrible. Bathrooms were just nasty and unsanitary. I got a visual of their cooks using the bathroom and going back to the kitchen to prepare my food. YUCK. The overhead speakers were playing some kind of Muslim chant, not Mexican music. Very inappropriate. We will never go back.

Love everything about this place. Great location and easy to access their parking lot which wraps around the entire restaurant. Patio looks huge with tons of string lights. Colorful interior and always playing Mexican music. Chips and salsa, which are amazing! This salsa has a kick! Margarita happy hour price $ 3.99 12oz and 5.99 27oz margarita!!! $ 4 nachos. Their cheese dip OMG make sure you get that and guacamole!!! Food was good, our waitress Rosa was great! We will be back every Sunday at the bar! Oh and we will get the same waitress! The pregnant hostess is a joy as well! Just so happy with this place!

WE ARE NEVER RETURNING.
My wife and I tried to give this place a chance. I personally went here on two occasions with her. The first time our waiter just kept ignoring us and wouldn’t even take our drink order. Finally a manager came over a little after we got our drinks and asked us how everything was and ended up placing our order with him after a brief conversation. The waiter brings our food out and never comes back. The manger came back to check on us and we told him we were ready for our check. Needless to say the waiter did not get a good tip.
Our second visit the same thing happened so we just walked out before we got a chance to order.

This place was horrible it was my first time last night there and they were Beatles all over the ground and the bathrooms were not kept up meeting there was no paper towels and the people there did not put in paper towels after I told him twice and the chips were hard as a rock and they were not warm when I asked for warm chips. The ambiance was nice the chairs were hard as a rock I don’t think I would go back. This salsa was tasty. Homemade

I know this place that issue in the past.
But today great food, great service and will comeback’

I love going here. I typically just get a chicken quesadilla but I go for the queso. I can’t get enough of it. I do have to say I have experience poor service the last few times I’ve gone, but the food is so tasty and cheap I can’t stay away. Fun place on a Friday with friends!

AVOID!!! UNSANITARY!!!
The recent news story about this location having standing raw sewage covering the kitchen floor and remaining open while patrons unknowingly dined in the next room was beyond disgusting. The conditions seemed to be unsanitary even without the sewage.
The news story also showed an incredibly pathetic owner who does not deserve any of our hard earned money. Apparently he owns restaurants in Chesterfield and Wildwood as well, I would avoid at all costs.
