I normally wouldn’t go to a place this far out, but got invited to go for dinner and drinks for a friend’s birthday. It was a Thursday night but we were kept for FOREVER waiting. Ok, 35 minutes. They kept telling us it would be «1 minute» but it went on and on. Once we got seated, service was pretty crappy but the foo and drinks were really good so it redeemed the experience. The mango margarita(frozen) was yummy! The piqueso(basically queso dip with a little pico on top) was also really good, as were the chips and salsa. The guacamole was fresh and a large serving. I also got the esquites, which was street corn. It was topped in this lime chile powder that was really good. I greatly enjoyed it. If this place were closer to my house, I’d probably go more often!

Señor piqué is the best Mexican food in west county. It is always fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is fun and inviting and they have an excellent staff. I have been going here for years and many of there servers have been with them for ages. They have a balloon artist on Thursdays, so it’s a great place for kids. I recommend the Altas Margarita and Enchiladas con Mole. I go here several times a month and I’m always pleased.

Had lunch here today. Great atmosphere with good food. I had the steak tacos they were pretty plain nothing real special about them. My friend has the steak and shrimp fajitas which were also good but nothing different than any other Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa was refilled and the wait staff was attentive.

Ambience and service was good but the food left a LOT to be desired. The fish tacos were pretty bland and gross, the batter on the fried fish was way too thick and it’s basically all I could taste. The rice had an interesting flavor to it but I wouldn’t classify as good or bad. The Alambre Baquetero(?) was mostly cheese. The Jalapeño Quesadillita reminded me of the«food» I made as a kid — it was melted cheese on a corn tortilla with 5 slices of jalapeño and no flavor. The menu is very, very limited and if you’re looking for something healthy you’re out of luck. I didn’t try any alcoholic drinks but I imagine margaritas paired with the live music on the patio is the only redeeming factor to this place — just don’t go there hungry because you’ll leave the same way.

I have to drive past El Maguey to get to Señor Piqué, and it’s not worth the extra drove. My husband and I used to go occasionally when they were in their old location close to 141. They had really unique and more traditional Mexican dishes that were really outstanding. Now they have condensed their menu to the basic American Mexican that everyone else serves, and they don’t do it better. Today I had the shrimp tag is. They started wrong by using tiny salad shrimp instead of regular, full size shrimp, so the texture was wrong. The sauce was very creamy and heavy, and there was no lettuce or cabbage to provide much needed crunch. They were a bummer. My husband’s chicken enchiladas verde were ok but nothing to write home about. El Maguey makes them better. Kids meal macaroni and cheese was good. Cheese sauce costed almost 6 dollars. From now on, my family will stop at El Maguey or head into Kirkwood to Amigos for Mexican.

This place is above average considering the limited authentic Mexican food here in St. Louis. I wish they had carnitas though. The street corn was pretty good. They serve it to you on its own corn stand that was pretty cool.

This is our go to place for Mexican food in the area. We’ve always had a great experience service-wise and the food is consistently way above the norm for most Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. Great dishes with more variety than the standard combo plate platters.

If I could give a negative rating for this charade of a Mexican restaurant, I would. I had the chicken enchilada in green sauce and the chicken was boiled and absolutely tasteless. My wife had a vegetable taco, which consisted of a boiled veggies, and was equally tasteless. My stepson’s meal of fish tacos did have taste, just a bad taste. The service was good. It had been a while since we had been at this restaurant, which used to be pretty good; however, now you are better off eating a Chiplote to get a better meal.

The staff is very friendly but the food is low quality and over-priced. El Maguey is not great in my opinion but it is at least two times better than this place. We will not return and do not recommend.

Pretty normal Mexican place. Food has a slightly more sophisticated spin. Service was great. Definitely a place to try

Not thoroughly impressed with the staff or food. I got my own menu and sat myself. No hostess in sight — walked to the bar and asked if they were still serving and was told 10 minutes. Lunch menu is so limited like under 10 selections and the portion sizes were like an appetizer.

The place is inviting and clean inside. The bar area is festooned with soccer scarves and banners but only ESPN is on the TVs. The margaritas vary from handmade to out of a beer tap. Not kidding. The handmade Avion Margarita is light and quite nice but still has a slight artificial lemonade taste to it. The cheaper Margarita Altos off the tap is stronger in flavor and somehow better. Quite a few people around me were complimenting the mojitos. I saw one bartender drop a knife to the bar floor and pick it up to use again to slice limes. Shit happens but he should know better. People are watching. The guacamole is well done but for the avocados not being quite ripe. The salsa tastes like canned tomatoes with no much going for it. The chips are good. I had the tacos al pastor. They were nice. There was a lovely flavor to the pork that complemented the sliver of pineapple. In addition, a creamy salve verde accompaniment went well with the street tacos. The rest of the menu is small in options but a good selection. The kids menu is $ 5.99 which should be cheaper if they want to draw me in to eat a $ 10 adult platter plus guacamole and drinks. Kids are free on Wednesday or something so maybe that’s the day for people with kids. The staff were attentive and food arrived in good time. In all, it was a good first visit but it would not replace my favorite Mexican restaurant Pueblo Solis though they have the pork dishes Pueblo Solis lacks. Nor does it compete in the high end of margaritas and Mexican faire with Clayton’s Cantina Loredo.

The Margaritas were weak, the service was beyond terrible and the food was mediocre. I would prefer Taco Bell. If last evening was typical, I don’t know how they remain in business.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant for their Margaritas! The wait staff are all fun and enjoyable also. If you are a regular, get ready for hugs and extra smiles. Chips and salsa are good, salsa verde is my favorite. Definitely order the green rice. My only complaint is that every once in a while they change the menu and end up removing something that I order all of the time. Like the refried Black beans.

Today on Cinco De Mayo we went and had a great meal, grwat service and enjoyed the grwat great atmosphere. The only negative is they offered you to join their text messages and get 15% off and you couldn’t use it because of the maritagita specials.

I usually come here for happy hour where steak and chicken quesadilla and chips and dip are cheaper w the purchase of a drink. I like the quality here better than some of the other places around the area. Service and atmosphere is fine. Definitely recommend the fish tacos.

NOTICE: If you like the Mexican restaurants where you order your dinner by number and it is the same number regardless of the restaurant… stay away from this place. If, on the other hand, you appreciate hand-crafted food then you need to check them out. Notes on the meal: — They use Serrano peppers in their salsa. This is great for me because I can’t eat jalapeño but love spicy stuff. Also, I think the Serrano imparts a more flavorful heat. — The steak in their steak tacos has a great charcoal taste! — Their tortillas are house-made, small like you see in Mexico, and paper-thin. Also, they are a delicious ingredient as opposed to just serving as a vehicle for transporting the goodness to your mouth. — The waitress recommended the shrimp tacos for me and I loved every bite! Delicately cooked and served in a smoky, creamy chipotle sauce along with avocados, black beans and queso fresco. Simply amazing! — Mine came with cilantro rice. Not rice with flecks of cilantro but green rice flavored with cilantro. Delicious! — Tasty flan… big enough to share. — Pig sinks in the bathroom! Don’t take my 4-star rating as an indication that anything was wrong with the place or the meal. Everything was great but somehow it just wasn’t quite a full 5-star experience. I took a couple of photos on this trip and may add others when I go back… because I am most assuredly going back!
