Sonic Drive-In Restaurant

This Sonic can get really busy since it is located on one of the busiest streets in Bakersfield. Around happy hour, the line and extend out onto the side street. But, the drive-​thru moves fast and efficiently. We have order food, drinks, and shakes; never had a bad experience. Our order is usually correct and hot. They also have an outdoor play area which is nice to let the kids run around while you eat.

Honestly the worst sonics I have ever been to in my life. The staff Is extremely rude. I ordered the cheese cake shake and an orange float and when I got to the window the man told me a different name when handing me the shake and I simply asked if it was the correct one that I had ordered and he said with an attitude «this is the THAT and this is the orange float.» He’s lucky I didn’t through it back in his face.

I only come to Sonic for three things: drinks, onion rings, and tater tots. Other than those items I do not order anything else. The Route 44 Cherry Limeade is life and so is the cherry cream slush. I could live off of those two drinks. The onion rings and tater tots are decent but still satisfying enough to make me happy.
The reason for the two stars is because their customer service is just horrible. I’ve been her a handful of times and every time the employees are rude and unfriendly. Even if you say hello or want to ask a simple question they give you a dirty look. Extremely disappointed on the service but the drinks though. Still enjoyable.

Just went here got 2 bacon cheese burger combos… the buns were hard the 2 pieces of bacon were hard as a rock… 1 huge tomato and a little lettuce… soggy tater tots… i am very disappointed. … i payed 19 $… are you serious… horrible food 7.20.15 830pm I can’t put no stars

Great food and service. Price is on point. And location was good. Only thung was mic was hard to hear on bc it was low volume on speaker. But it was a great place

Worst experience. I went through the drive-​thru and had ordered. Got to the window and had asked the cashier to throw something away for me ands she just stared at me. I got my food and drinks and my coke was watered down and flat! The service and quality of everything was not acceptable.

I love sonic, but this one just gave me a water down milkshake, milkshakes are supposed to be thick and I could pour it out. They tried to tell me that’s how they make their milkshakes, bitch please

I honestly have never really eaten food from sonic. I usually come for the drinks. I’ve never been disappointed w the drinks as they do an incredible job in quenching my thirst. I recommend this place for drinks.

Arrived at 12:45 for drive through service. Order complete at 12:49. Restaurant walls and surfaces look dirty and dingy. Workers standing around chatting. No one appears to be cleaning (and the restaurant really needs it). Order received at 12:51. Staffers were nice and friendly. The parking lot and play area were dusty and dirty.
I have come here many times and never got bad or inedible food. Sonic food is always tasty. I always feel uneasy about the sanitation there though. They really need to clean that place thoroughly and make the grounds more presentable. As a customer, I have to wonder if my food receives the same neglect as the interior and exterior of the restaurant.
Management really needs to clean it up before it gets any worse. If it does get worse, I’ll stop eating there. It isn’t worth the health risk.

went on my break to get a sonic blast went back to work and found some plastic in it called talked to manager her name was annet informed her of plastic in my blast she just sais bring it back very rude didnt even say sorry or anything i told her i dont have time to go back because i was just on a break so upset that i had to go back for there mistake i didnt want the blast but my refund she took forever to refund and then charged my card again im very upset that i wasted my break and took longer and she was so rude about it never will i go there again.

I was here at 9:50 yesterday morning. I ordered a number one cheeseburger combo with NO mayo, but with mustard instead. It took a long time, but eventually my food came out.
The cheeseburger had mayo, NO mustard. I sent it back. After another long wait, they bring out a half warm attempt at my order. I take one bite and realize they have served the same pattie over, and it still has mayo on it. I gave up, they cannot get an order right.
There was one car at the drive-​thru, and I was the only one in the car-​hop side. Good luck at this Sonic you are gonna need it.

The girl who served us (I think her name is Steff) she was not very friendly, did not even ask us if we needed ketchup or anything. It was so annoying to find out that there aren’t any in the bags, I had to walk back to the store to ask for some. But the worse part about this visit was that the tater tots were soaked in oil, when we finished each of our tater tots, we found literally oil about almost a quarter of the container. Yuck! The tater tots is the only reason why we even go there, considering that we don’t have any Sonics where we’re from. We loooove their tater tots but this time it was just disgusting. If the owner/​franchise owner happen to be reading this review, I hope you consider this oily tater tot rant coz I would like to keep going to a Sonic restaurant whenever we are in the area.

Don’t get the supper crunch chicken strips dinner and they were super hard and it wasn’t crunchy at all it was just supper hard we just eat the friends and the onion ring and I just ask to change the Chicken nothing else and the manager said it wasn’t possible because we eat the fries and when it’s less than the half the can’t do anything about it I really disappointed after wasting money for food that taste like rubber chicken hard as hell.

Workers looked like they literally woke up, put on a uniform and went to work. nasty! There is also a nasty desk with all kinds of junk on it in plain sight from the drive through window. not sure if I want to eat my food now. I guess if your leader is nasty your workers will be nasty as well.

I cane here with my son to eat outside and use the play equipment… filthy! Graffiti and filth! Bathrooms unusable due to filth! Will never go back! Back to the East side sonic!

I came here last night to pick up some half off milkshakes with my friend and her friend. We pressed the button, and it took a while for them to take our order, 4 vanilla milkshakes (which were really good) and an order of medium fries (which was really small for a medium, but the fries were so good, I can forgive that). After that we waited about 10 min. for them to bring it out to us. The lady was very nice though. Service was slow, but the food was good for fast food. Food gets 4 stars. service gets 2. The Drive-​thru was really backed up also. I really like Sonic’s selection of shakes and slushies, so I hope they can reduce the wait, because I foresee a Cherry Limeade in my future.

Sat in a stall forever and never got helped. Pushed the button again and still never got helped!

Location has a fully gated playground with sand and several old non-​working coin drop vehicles to climb and play on.
They charge extra for extra cup.
No ones empties the playground trash can even though it was full and we asked them to. We were there over two hours, plenty of time to empty it.

What a disappointment !!! I really like Sonic and was surprised to see quite a few bad reviews, but I thought o myself, how is that possible, Sonic is pretty good as far as fast food goes.
Well… I ordered a breakfast burrito, it was COLD and salty — YUCK!
The tater tots were under cooked, lacked the normal crispness — YIKES!
and the French Toast sticks, really oil soaked over cooked pieces of bread — BOO!
So the only decent thing was the Watermelon slushy, though it tasted more like a Jolly Rancher than Watermelon.
and to top this all off, the person that brought out our food to us, didn’t provide a single napkin!
Total bummer of a visit.

It’s all about the Route 44 diet cherry limeades, the diet cranberry limeades, the diet cranberry cherry limeades (yes, they’ll mix in all those syrups for you!)… do you see a trend developing here? The moment when you take the top of your drink to count your lime slices and cherries — YES!!! THey have literally thousands of possible combinations of sodas and syrups from which to create your own personal favorite beverages.
Except when it’s about the tater tots; because it’s ALWAYS about the tots. Golden brown crispy crunchy outsides, moist and flavorful insides. It’s got the perfect texture ratio of crunchy to chewy. Are they REALLY better tasting than french fries? Do you even have to ask? I know this is a pretty lowbrow kind of craving to get, but then I never claimed to be a foodie — at least not professionally. At sonic you can get your tots straight up or covered with thick and hearty chili then sprinkled with shredded cheese, Mmmmmmm… Let’s all have a moment of silence to remember the sweet potato tots. I was just informed today that Sonic no longer carries them. I’ll be wearing black for at LEAST a week.
Sometimes it’s even about the breakfast burritos. Actually, it can always be about the breakfast burritos because they serve the full menu all day long. I know, hard to believe, huh? I pulled up at 4:45 pm and ordered the ultimate meat and cheese breakfast burrito, and they brought it right out to me (take THAT McDonalds who won’t serve them to me after 10:30 — Sonic’s tastes better anyway!). It was chock full of sausage and crispy bacon chunks smothered in cheesy sauce and tots (see, it really is all about the tots). I could taste the individual flavors in the bacon and the sausage — two of my favorite things EVER! The only downside is that they didn’t offer me salsa to go with it.
And you even get a little peppermint candy for dessert to cleanse your palate, or at the very least keep you from having chili cheese breath!
This Sonic has a two outside covered areas with tables where you can sit outside your car and eat, and even a kid’s playground area. Or you can sit in your car drive-​in style like Sonic is famous for.
