I love happy hour here. But the quality service & margaritas keep me coming back. We walked by & beautiful woman was marking fresh tortillas in the window & the kids wanted to stop. I have been her so many times & I’ve never eaten anything bad. Today my son actually got French fries & they were great. Kids meals are reasonable with good choices. This is a nice combo of authentic mexican food with options that people who don’t want authentic would like.

If you like a variety of tequila then you’ll enjoy Que Pasa. If you enjoy waiting 15 minutes plus for a shot, you’ll especially enjoy Que Pasa. The other reviewers are right. The wait time here is insane. Even though we sat at the bar we waited a good 20 minutes for our drinks. Of course, my boyfriend’s beer came right away. My margarita took forever. I sat and stared at my cocktail napkin anticipating the arrival of my cold margarita. It was gosh darn tortuous. We came for a pre-movie drink. And by the time we got our drinks I had 5 minutes to enjoy it. Boo. If you manage to get the right bartenders, and they’re well staffed the service can be amazing. The last few times, however, were difficult. The salsa here is peppery and mild. I actually enjoy it, while I know many others do not. Food is basic. There’s plenty of other Mexican restaurants in town that offer equal, if not better food. Que Pasa is convenient though, which is why they’ll continue to do well.

I haven’t been to this place in a while, we recently came in during lunch time and it was pretty empty. We come for their Molcajetes which is a mixture of meats+shrimp, vegetables, and cheese in this thick salsa type sauce. Its a Mexican dish anyways must have! You can technically find it in any Mexican restaurant. Anyways we got the«supreme» one and it only came with hand made tortillas. I was really shocked because I have gotten this dish everywhere and they at minimum serve it with rice, beans, and guacamole. Not a lot but still on the side. Yes they serve a lot of meats and it was really good. I believe for it being«supreme» they should include those side dishes. It was happy hour so I decided to try their margaritas and they were good and strong! thank you bartender! The service was a tad slow and they forgot a few things here and there, but nothing over the top.

FYI they allow smoking on their patio. While eating here on Mother’s Day with my two small children, some ladies started smoking and about three tables of families left. So gross. We moved inside because it smelled so disgusting. Also, we waited for 30+ minutes for our food. During lunch. So unorganized and poorly managed.

If I could give this place zero stars then I would after tonight. Seated fairly promptly. It took 10 minutes for them to take our drink orders. Took about another 10 to bring them out(three small margs and three waters). Five minutes later we alerted one waiter we hadn’t had our order taken yet, but that we were ready. We waited. And waited. And then we… waited! It took another 12 minutes for them to come and take our orders. It was taco tuesday so my friends got a good mixture of soft and hard shelled tacos, both beef and chicken. The hard-shell tacos were SOGREASY it was ridiculous. I wish we had taken a picture. It was dripping off in big, fat puddles. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. No sides. No sauce. A plain, simple burrito. Usually costs about $ 2.50-$ 3.50 depending on where you go. Keep in mind, it’s a standard size. When compared to other places in the area, it’s a small burrito. I was charged $ 10. TENDOLLARS for one flour tortilla, about a quarter cup of beans and maybe an eighth of a cup of cheese. Ten bucks. They wouldn’t adjust the bill. I feel like I was robbed. To top it all off, the manager just told me «that’s what menus are for,» when I told him I wasn’t aware it was that much. Keep in mind my plain burrito was NOT on the menu, but the components(if purchased individually) would have cost me less than $ 6 according to the menu. Anyway, I’ll never go back to this place again.

Came in here for a drink after waking out of Johnny Garlic’s due to their rude bartender ignoring us. The bartender and servers here were super friendly and got us a drink as soon as we walked in!

Typical Mexican food. It has previously been a nice watering hole prior to catching a movie, but no more. I have been seated, ok only to not be served while the staff chatted with friends and served them multiple rounds of drinks. The last time I went will be the last time, took me about 10 minutes after being seated to realize I should take my business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and hit up one of Bakersfield’s hundreds of superior Mexican eateries.

I HATE this place. The food is mediocre with the exception of a decent fresh guacamole. My fiancé really tried hard to like this place because they serve huge Medelo beers on draft, however their CONSTANTTERRIBLE service is so glaring it is not worth it. The last time we were here we waited 30 minutes and no one even acknowledged us after we were seated. We ended up walking out. Clearly they prefer to serve a certain element which resulted in a shooting in their parking lot. Also, they like to cheat their customers as evidenced by the attached picture. Do the math.

Hey, want to be treated poorly by a bunch of people who pretend to have a restaurant, but are really just running an overpriced bar with bad service? Come to que pasa. You deserve it. Are drinks are reasonably priced though.

This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Bakersfield! Every time I come home to visit my parents, we make sure to go here. Great place for vegetarians. Tasty food and drinks, awesome ambiance, and wonderful service.

Was craving a margarita«rosarito style» and found it at que pasa, the mango margarita prepared by Enrique was very delicious and for $ 3.50 you cant beat it definitely coming back.

Our friends from out of town came here and were raving about how Que Pasa was the best Mexican food they’d had in a long time. I was a little doubtful since I’ve been to Que Pasa in the past and found the food so so. Nonetheless our friends were so impressed that they bought us a gift card to eat here and so we ate dinner here tonight. Wow! Que Pasa has really come a long way and does a fabulous job. Great service and excellent food! Thanks to our waiter Carlos for a great experience and a new favorite close to home

Came here for a quick bite to eat since we were in the vicinity due to shopping. Star Wars at Edwards Theatre was in full action and lines waiting to watch so the area seemed busy but not Que Pasa. We walked in and had to wait about 5 minutes to be greeted but no biggie. The waitress provided us with a full menu but also the happy hour menu for apps and drinks so we opted to take advantage, why not? We ordered the Street Taco Trio which is three tacos, duh! We chose one carne asada, one pollo and one carnita and each one was topped with onions and guacamole. Before our food came, they did give us tortilla chips and the house salsa, I don’t know if we were just really hungry but that salsa was happening! Back to the tacos, we were also provided a mild and hot sauce which we didn’t care for. The chicken was a bit dry but had good flavor, the carnitas was somewhat juicy with great flavor and the carne asada was very tender, juicy and had great flavor. The other item we ordered was the Super Nachos and we added chicken. It had refried beans, sour cream, two types of cheese I believe, guacamole and of course the chicken. When it first arrived it was really good but as we ate more of it, the middle of the nachos was almost all refried beans only. The chips at that point were extremely soggy and we had to use a fork to eat it. The service was a bit slow but didn’t really impact us all that much, I just wish my drink was refilled more frequently. Other than those I mentioned, it wasn’t too bad and who knows, the next time we are in this shopping area we may just come back. It could’ve been an off day for the cook, the waitress or Que Pasa in general so I can’t fully commit to the two stars, but it will have to do for now.

Wow! The poor service reviews are no joke. Hostess was nowhere to be found, decided to sit at the bar. The bartender took our drink order, I asked for an iced tea, my boyfriend asked for a bud light… took almost 10 minutes and that was after having to ask the bartender if we were getting our drinks! We did order food, my order was wrong, I asked for cheese enchiladas I ended up with beef, but I ate it anyway because I didn’t want to wait longer to eat… not sure if I’d even get the opportunity to tell him my order was wrong since he avoided eye contact and never asked how our food was. Chips and salsa are bland and the food was okay. Probably won’t come back anytime soon.

Worst service ever. Walked out. Manager on cell phone on Facebook… Came on taco Tuesday. Only the bar had 10 people at it. Sat at table for 15 to 20 min. Never been and never will return. You just lost a valuable customer. Didn’t even deserve one star!

Every week me and my gf go out for Mexican food. We’ve been getting tired of our usual spot and wanted to try out a new place. We were seeing a movie here in the Marketplace anyway… So we decided to stop at this que Pasa… Being the guacamole fiends that we are… Of course we had to order some. They came out and made it right in front of us. We got to say what to put in it and what to not put in it since they had all the ingredients right there. It was the best guac I’ve ever had! Our meals were great too and the deep fried ice cream was delicious! We will be coming back here again and again! Waitress was very helpful and sweet. Que Pasa, 5 stars!

Atmosphere is good and service is fast. Drinks are not out of the world but they are nice. Price is good and they have good options for food and starters. They need to add beer pitcher in their menu. They have draft beers so pitchers would be good.

Reason(s) why I come here: My friends like this place. Reason(s) why my friends come here: They like tequila and the proximity to the movie theater. The service is spotty and the food is mediocre. My friends like to have pre-movie drinks here so I put up with Que Pasa because I like spending time with my friends. Otherwise, I would never suggest this venue for other gatherings. Of the various times I’ve been here for happy hour(HH) on weeknights, I’ve had servers that don’t check on us often, don’t bring menus, don’t refill water, and look like they hate their jobs. Sometimes, the manager shows up with a fake smile to check on the table, but I’m not buying it. I love the HH disappearing trick where the servers are nowhere to be seen the 10 minutes before HH is over, but magically reappear at 6:01 pm. I even had an incident where our group was charged full price for drinks ordered at the end of HH and the server argued with us saying we ordered at 6:00 pm instead of a few minutes before. The street tacos are dry and bland. The nacho plate looks like a hodgepodge of stuff haphazardly thrown together and then pushed into the oven for a few minutes of heat. The dips are lukewarm and congeal within a matter of minutes. Very underwhelming, all around.
