Twice, we have been to J&E Restaurant Supply this year. Each time has been a good experience. They have inventory in two buildings situated across from each other. In one building, you will find all their large heavy duty equipment one would find in restaurants. We go to their other building which holds a large selection of kitchen supplies for both the home and/or business. Do they have the lowest prices? Nope! I researched prices ahead of time and we could have saved money if we ordered online. Are they expensive? Nope! The prices we paid were not much higher than if we had purchased online. Although it did not save us money, we did save on time by making our purchases here. Will we be returning? Yes, we will. Good selection. Fair prices. How is customer service? We have received nothing but 5 star service here.

The company I work for has been using them for various items over the past 2 years and we never had a problem until recently. Not sure what’s changed But they’ve become so rude and difficult to work with. We’ll be ordering from elsewhere from now on.

I love this place. Come here to get my kitchen supplies. Prices are reasonable, folks are always helpful. Always seem to leave with more gadgets than I came for.

I have been in the J&E Restaurant Supply store many times and am always amazed at the inventory they have. It is an experience just to walk around the store to see everything that they carry. I must say that I have only positive experiences with the employees… always polite and helpful. And prices are hard to beat… much better than the department stores. We are fortunate in Bakersfield to have a store like J&E. Their primary business for years was commercial and now they let the public come in to enjoy the wide assortment of products that they carry at great prices. They for sure have the largest inventory of kitchen items in Bakersfield… so maybe we need to consider them as the Costco of kitchens, except we get much better customer service here than at Costco!

I had to grab a couple of things for work today and of course time is money. I couldn’t get anyone to take time to help me. I felt like an inconvenient rather than a valued costumer. I am not about to explain the situation but when you are asking questions and they act like they are to busy to help it’s enough to make me walk out of the place. Would it help if the associates understand and are knowledgable about their products? Would it make sense that they avoid questions then? I wonder. I’m just going to say this, I know the manager wasn’t there so I will excuse what happened today. However, when you are helping a guest, it’s rude to ask other people if they need help when you have not resolved the initial costumers needs. It was a frustrating experience please please please be respectful to your costumers.

As an avid cooker who has recently been thinking about replacing some of his ancient and lackluster kitchen equipment, I was pretty excited to find out this place existed from a television commercial. I went to look at sauce pans, and also for a new chef’s knife and/or sharpening equipment for my current cheapie one. I looked at the wares and came up with a few questions about them. Then I approached a salesperson and began to ask him, first, what I might want to get to sharpen my current knife. He pretty much cut me off and gestured to some cheap, low quality knife sharpener and said, «get that.» I began to ask him for the relative merits of a sharpener like this as opposed to a whet stone, but he reiterated his instruction and walked away. I had further questions about knives and sauce pans, but felt they weren’t welcome. I usually don’t review the service of a place, because a) multiple people work at a given location and b) people can have bad days. But since I came here specifically looking for some sort of expertise(as opposed to the lonely internet-research-and-purchase schtick), I was a bit disappointed with my experience here. This is a restaurant supply store, so maybe the salespeople are only interested in assisting people shopping on large accounts for a lot of equipment. But no one else was in the store at the time, so I wish I was actually listened to and given decent answers :/. Google may be unfriendly, but it will have to do. 3-stars because they have a lot of stuff and to my knowledge it’s the only such place in Bakersfield.
