Visit Date: June 10, 2016 Came here with hubby for a romantic dinner that turned out to be a little weird. I was a little upset about that because I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant forever. It is a good restaurant but it’s meant to be a place you will spend a few hours in, drinking some wine or other drinks and eating your meal very slowly. Because we didn’t have any drinks with our dinner we did not enjoy the languishing over our meal that we were supposed to enjoy. For an appetizer I had the pizza which was great. But I had to pick prosciutto off of it because I’m a vegetarian and didn’t realize they topped it with prosciutto. I’m not sure if they mentioned that in the menu and I just didn’t notice. I didn’t get mad at them though I just picked it off and hubby ate it. For our main course he chose the salmon and I chose the rolled lasagna with spinach. It took a long time for our main course to arrive and hubby started to get mad. He’s not friendly when he’s hungry. When our main course came out he just wanted the check. So we asked for it. The manager did come by to see if we were okay and if everything was good so he did try to speak to us to find out about the slight disappointment but hubby just wanted to settle the check, eat up his main course and leave. The food was good I did enjoy it very much, the tomato sauce on the rolled lasagna tasted like fresh tomatoes. Overall it’s a good place but I would only come if you were prepared to spend a long time and probably have some drinks.

Back to Gemellis for another delicious meal. My wife and I met there in 1999 on a blind date. We used to return just for anniversaries, but wondered why we didn’t come back more often. Nights out are at a premium due to having 3 young kids, so when we do go out, we go where we know we’ll be happy. Great apps, perfectly cooked dinners and great service. Thank you again… Dave

I wish I could have given 3.5 stars, because while we enjoyed our meal, there were some bumps. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really wowed us. In Gemelli’s defense, we came on Mother’s Day, so they were very busy. Still, we made a reservation in advance and it seemed like no one knew what to do with us once we got there. We went to the bar ourselves and had to sort of wait for the bartender to notice us. Had a glass of wine at the bar. We were seated at a nice table and ordered the hot antipasto to start. All of the items on the antipasto were tasty, except they put a cream sauce over everything, including the fried calamari. It gave everything a slimy, soggy feel. The entrees were okay, but I felt like my salmon was overcooked and a bit flavorless. I had ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc at the bar and taken it to our table. Then, when I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, the waiter brought it over and dumped the remaining couple of sips of my Sauvignon Blanc into the glass. He honestly had no idea it was different wine, and they were both white, but I’ve never had that happen at a restaurant before. The best part of the meal was the limoncello cake for dessert. That was delicious. All in all, I’ve always been impressed by Gemelli’s catering, but the restaurant was kind of a let down.

We heard good things about this venue, so decided to try it for restaurant week. We were six couples, twelve of us. The service was outstanding, the food delicious, but the portions were very small. The guys all left hungry, something we’ve never experienced after eating at an Italian restaurant. Still, no one wanted to complain because the experience was otherwise positive.

A great meal at a great venue! Walked in about 20 minutes prior to reservation, hostess was very polite and offered to seat is right away but decided to have a drink first. Bar area a little small but suitable. On to Dinner, once seated greeted by what has to be one of Long Island’s finest waiters. Giuseppe was attentive without overbearing everything you want in a waiter. Started with the Calamari, my GF and I make it a point to order calamari everywhere we get a chance and have probably had it from 30 – 40 different places, this was hands down the best. On to main course of Ossobuco and Shrimp Saltita both excellent dishes that wowed us, finally to cap off the meal with an apple pastry and coffee both delish!

This restaurant has been open for 18 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it. First I want to thank Unilocal, because without this app I would never find all these fabulous places to do what I love to do… And that is dine! Where do I begin, dining here is like having a great meal in a specialty restaurant on a cruise ship, those who cruise will know what I mean, all the best of ingredients and preparation under one roof. Eating here is like being back home at Grandma’s 25 years ago, thanks for the memories, all dishes prepared with the utmost care and a touch of love. Bella!!! Beautiful atmosphere, very intimate, still decorated for Christmas and a gorgeous Nativity on a mantel above a burning fireplace. Thank for you putting a Nativity in your restaurant. Now to the food, Warmed Italian bread, Arthur Ave style if not brought in from the Bronx. So very good. Dishes filled with pitted black olives and roast garlic cloves in EVO to spread on this Devine bread. Spinach salad with sliced avocado, bacon, and a side order of rigatoni bolognese(pork, beef, and veal) sauce, so homemade! We had two veal dishes, veal saltimbocca, veal chop Milanese(pounded on the bone). Both veal so tender, melted in your mouth. As I said earlier this is home cooking at its best. Ernesto was our waiter, and what a great guy. Funny at times and a true professional. He has been here since they opened 18 years ago and I noticed as the other tables started to fill Ernesto was hugged by all. Great wine list, very unique martini list… Never heard of a cannoli martini… Have to try it next time around. Finished with a dessert called Migliaccio(Italian cheesecake with raspberry drizzle) great way to end a memorable evening or come to thing of it, a great way to start a new beginning at Ristorante Gemelli. Ciao

We ate there Christmas eve and had one of the best dinners ever. The wait staff was very efficent and knowledgeable even with the high volume of people dining there. We had a variety of dishes and they were all cooked to perfection. We eat in many top restaurants in Manhattan and Gemellis compares to the best. We already booked to return Saturday night.

My girlfriend and I hadn’t dined at Gemelli’s in years and decided to try a Friday night dinner. Coming from an all Italian household I don’t often go out for Italian fare and when I do I’m very critical. From what I remembered of Gemelli’s; both the service and food were excellent, unfortunately on this past Friday night’s visit the service was the only thing that remained the same. We started with the fried calamari which was as I remembered, with the calamari tender, enrobed in a perfectly crisp coating. For our main dishes we ordered the Lobster Risotto and the Amalfi with white wine sauce, the risotto was cooked perfectly, slightly al dente, however the broth tasted slightly over cooked and the lobster although portioned properly was also slightly over cooked, leaving it chewy. The Amalfi was also properly portioned, the shellfish was cooked well, not chewy but the white wine sauce was lacking in flavor detracting from the overall quality of the dish. For desert we had the NY cheesecake and the Crème brûlée, both were acceptable but not exceptional. Pricing is reasonable and service is excellent but for us to frequent it, an Italian restaurant needs to be well above average.

Ate here two times. Originally picked this place to eat because I heard amazing things. I have nothing to complain about here. Yes, it’s fine dining so you get what you pay for. The food is five stars hands down. It’s a beautifully designed restaurant with five star service. I wouldn’t be able to afford up eat here all of the time but it’s definitely a great place to splurge. Probably the BEST Italian food I have ever had in my life!(Besides mom and grandmas). It’s northern Italian cuisine — so no saucy cheesy dishes. Very high end fine dining. Very very happy with this restaurant. Perfect for a foodie, impressive for a date night. I booked my baby shower here — coming December 2015. Will update review about their catering.

Once again. Food off the charts. The swordfish special was amazing. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The help is friendly and can’t do enough for you. A must!!!

Gemellis gets an A++ for service! The waiters and busboys are extremely knowledgeable and attentive. Some favs on the menu are the meatballs and veal milanese. I love the outside patio for dining also. The only thing I would change is the fact that they have seafood in A LOT of their dishes… not everyone wants seafood.

Beautiful décor. Food is good, but not as good as the prices would indicate. Service is slow, one shouldn’t have to wait 20 minutes for desert(how long could it possibly take to scoop gelato in a cup?) A bit too pricey for the quality of food, but otherwise a good place for dinner.

Very beautiful restaurant. We had reservations and were seated on time. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary so I only wish the seating arrangement didn’t feel so tight. So I wouldn’t suggest if you want a more intimate setting to dine. The waiters we really good and we received our entrée in a timely manner. Food was great. Good portion and flavor. I ordered and drink and it was amazing, perfect blend of not to strong not to light. Fair prices. I would also like to suggest maybe making a separate menus for specials. The waiters had pretty heavy accents and spoke fast so it was hard to understand and hear. Not to mention we went at a busy time so the noise level was already high. Overall a great experience. Would recommend to others

Food is not bad, staff is very friendly and wine selection is very good. All veal dishes I had were always good. Host needs to be nicer greeting people at the door. You can sense a little attitude when you walk in but if you have the patience to get passed it the food is actually good.

First time dining here and i must say i was impressed on how nice the restaurant looked. I made reservations and was seated immediately. Valet service was a plus. Our server Maria was excellent. Very attentive and made us feel like regulars. The food was pretty good and would love to go back and explore the menu more.

It is really pleasing to see so much improvement in this restaurant. I have had three recent dinners at Gemelli’s and all have been very good or better. I see improvement everywhere. Physically the space has always been good but that was the high point. Now the food is good, service is excellent and management seems to show a renewed interest. My latest dinner was Friday night — 6 people. No complaints at our table which included some very hard to please diners. Prices are moderate as are portions. Everything better than in the past. We were greeted by a manager(owner?) when we arrived and shown to our table. During the meal he came over to check on us and as we were leaving, he again came over to say good night. Wow! To me this improvement deserves a raise to four Unilocal stars. Another couple of good meals and Gemelli’s can rise to the five star elite.

I wish that I could give this place more than 5 stars, everything about it was perfect! It is definitely in my top three best restaurants on Long Island. We arrived very late with a large party and the maître d’ politely informed us that the kitchen was in the process of closing. We asked if they could still serve us if we promised to order quickly and not to stay too long. After a few minutes of deliberation in the kitchen they told us that we could stay but the service might be a little slow because they had to turn everything back on. The dining area was exquisite. The room was formal yet rustic in terms of the décor. They immediately brought us a few baskets of what seemed like freshly baked, crusty no-kneed bread with small bowls of olives and roasted garlic in olive oil. The service was impeccable all night. We actually had three people working the table: the head waiter, a server and another person who re-filled the waters and replaced the plates and silverware. Each of the servers were extremely pleasant and detail oriented while maintaining the charm and wit you would expect from a traditional Italian waiter. You would think that they would be short and surly with us because we made them stay open for another hour, but that was never the case. The staff was also very accommodating to our two-year old son and made him feel very comfortable in terms of seating and interaction. The food was sublime. The menu offers an eclectic mix of pasta, fish, veal, beef and lamb dishes as well as daily specials. For the appetizer we had two orders of the Antipasta Calda which had grilled herb marinated shrimps, baked clams, grilled artichokes, fried calamari, topped with garlic, crushed red pepper with a basil white wine lemon sauce. We also had a few orders of Prince Edward Island mussels in a white wine sauce. All of the appetizers were freshly made and well executed. Since most of us were stuffed from the bread and first course, we decided to skip the beef and veal entrees and go with the pastas and fish. The best dish of the evening was the the filet mignon tips penne pasta with portobello mushrooms served in a rich brown demi-sauce. I spent the rest of the evening thinking about that dish! The bill wasn’t cheap, however I would gladly pay a little extra for truly memorable service, food and atmosphere. It was the perfect evening. I can’t wait to go back and try the lamb and veal dishes. Thank you for an amazing dining experience!
