Lumani’s Barber Shop

Found my barber shop. John and Sara are pure awesome. The hair cut, atmosphere, conversation, etc. It was all great.
Do yourself a favor and try them out.

John is super friendly and does a great job. The interior is really cool, it’s a former bar with old hardwood floors, tin ceiling, antiques, and a portion of the old bar remaining. He has a wall mounted flat screen TV with ESPN on and really comfortable leather couches and chairs. I highly recommend this place.

Found Lumani’s barber shop when I moved from the UK. Both me and my 17 year old lad go regular. John is excellent and the banter is great too. Nice little place, comfy plenty of seats and a TV. Fair price for an excellent job.

I can not say enough to justify how great of a place Lumani’s is. As with any great small business, it’s about the people and John is good people! I have actually been using John as my barber since 2009. He’s been in 3 different locations (even though 2 of them are next to each other) and I’ve followed him to each one. I now come up from NYC to get my hair cut, just because I couldn’t find a place like Lumani’s. Yes, the leather chairs, tv, drinks, and décor help with the atmosphere, but you go to a barber because of the barber. John takes the time to understand you and what your looking for. He knows his way around a guys head and you’ll definitely get a solid cut. And as plenty of reviews have mentioned, the hot towel and neck shave are a great way to end. As someone who feels like he’s been along for the ride as Lumani’s has become the Barbershop it is today, I HIGHLY recommend every guy to come by for a cut and just experience first hand what a real barbershop is like.

My friend told me about this place so I checked it out. It is a such nice, comfortable barber shop. I highly recommend!

Can’t say enough about this place. John is a great guy and an excellent barber. He is 30 minutes out of my way since I changed jobs but I still travel to see him. Every time I stray, I end up coming back. Every haircut is consistent and he knows exactly the look I am trying to achieve. John brings a relaxed atmosphere that is great for old school guys or suburban families. He is always there with a smile, a story and an update on the progression of his shop.

This place is fantastic. I had to get out of my hotel room so figured I’d try a local barber for my spring cut. The owner is a great guy and did a great job. The place has a pool table, magazines, and lots of comfortable chairs. First class.

Hubby comes to this barbershop frequently. Owner is funny and gives great cuts. Cute little shop with great prices. He won’t go anywhere else. Men should give this place at least one try, they won’t regret it.

I drive by here every day to go to work, so I finally decided to stop in and and give it a try. First off, the little shop has tons of character. Decked out with old school barber chairs as well as an antique register. Not worth much in the long run, but the atmosphere is enjoyable.
When I sat down for the cut, I told John that I wasn’t too sure what I wanted, but if he had any ideas that seemed to fit me, go for it. We talked for only a minute about it, and he got straight to work. After some decent conversation throughout, twenty minutes later, and a lot of hair gone, we were done. He gave me a brief tutorial on how to style my new cut and I was done. I have to say, off the bat, this is my favorite hair cut I’ve had in many years.
He did an excellent job. So much so, I’m excited to go back in the future.

Great atmosphere and conversation from the man Johnny. Really gets to know exactly what you want before he starts cutting. Sports Center on the tv and one of the few shops I’ve been to that includes a straight razor shave outline after the cut. The man takes his time to make sure its just right. Just stopped in today and I know I will be going back again and again. Thanks for the great experience!

Stopped in on the fly after getting out of work early. Was ecstatic to see shop hours that are welcoming to the 9 – 5 office crowd. John was very friendly and welcoming. Sat me down, cleaned up my bushy head and beard and sent me on my way. Best cut I’ve had in a long time. Looking forward to going back on the regular.

Stopped in one Sat. morning before taking off for a vacation. My barber was on vacation himself and I decided to give Lumani’s a try. John did a good job, and has the shop setup well. I like when I can glance at the TV while getting my hair-​cut, especially when getting the run-​down from Sports Center. I particularly liked a couple of things, so much so that I’ll be switching to John going forward.
— As with all my chosen barber shops over the years, I like that you don’t have to make an appointment, you either wait a few minutes (John is very efficient), or you drive by again later and maybe it isn’t as busy.
— John seems like a really nice guy that is genuinely interested in his customers and having an in depth discussion about any number of topics, sports, life, weight loss, kids, what you’re up to later, etc.
— I love a nice hot towel on the neck at the end just before shaving the neckline, it just makes you feel like you got a good clean, close shave and feels great.
— The atmosphere brings you back to that old school barber shop feel, you know that this is where men go to get a good hair-​cut, talk about sports and just shoot the breeze for a bit.
I’ve already recommended to a number of people, a few of whom were like, «oh yeah, I switched to John when he opened about a year ago, he’s great». So word is spreading and I hope Lumani’s is here for a long time.

I have been searching for a barber in the area for the last few years with no luck. After getting my hair cut in NH and MD on the road the last few years I’ve finally found my shop! John is great and it is a legit Barber shop with the old school feel. Great guy that gives a great cut. Def my new shop, finally, stop by and give him a shot.

You will not find a better barber in the Farmington Valley than John. Lumani’s is the real deal, classic barber experience. The cut is outstanding and John takes pride in ensuring you are happy with his work. The classic environment adds to the experience. No need to go to one of the chain haircutting mills. If you want a great cut, friendly service in a classic barber style, Lumani’s is it!

Good atmosphere, good product, competitive price and a local business. For almost a year I wasted my money by going to the local chain salon/​barbershop feeling awkward while I waited for my mediocre haircut to be completed. Now that I found Lumani’s I don’t ever want to go back. The owner John is a great guy and he has a deal where you get your 6^th haircut free!

For years, I passed this tiny little abandoned barbershop on my way to work, wondering what would become of it. Two months ago, it sprang back to life in the form of Lumani’s. Today, I checked it out… and it’s worth the wait. Got a great haircut, finished off with a hot towel to the neck and a shave, accompanied by pleasant conversation with John, the owner (included a discussion of the five greatest baseball players, although I tend to disagree that 4 out of 5 were Yankees). And they take credit cards… always a plus for cash-​challenged people like me. Recommended to Farmington Valley residents!

Love the décor inside this barber shop and the owners are awesome! My husband tried this place & he received a great haircut at a great price. Definitely going back!
