Try their Sunday Brunch… the Jalapeño Bacon stuffed Rellano with egg is On Fleek! The rest of the brunch menu is solid as well, but that Rellano is hella good.

Sorry folks, this place needs better service, better food and we visited during the day. Here’s idea, greet customers at table, tell them that they are training a new person and that your meal will be served slow, Let the customerw know that drinks will be refilled slowly, employees in training might not enjoy being trained(lack of smiles) and are just training because they must. Let customers know that their meal will be discounted ½ price for being a guinea test customer. This place has the potential for so much more. Maybe«B» team is working days and«A» team night has the customer service being No. 1.

I love love love Tex-Mex and Mexican food and always look forward to trying new places when in Austin. I met a couple of co-workers here while traveling on business and while the company was great, the food was a little disappointing. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great and the service was on the slow side. The chips and dip trio were pretty standard and were very good. For my entrée, I ordered a fish dish which was good but not great. All in all, this place reminded me of a chain restaurant more than an authentic Tex-Mex restaurant. I am not against chains but Z’Tejas was an underwhelming dining experience for me.

We came here on a weekend and it was pretty packed. They got us in fairly quickly but our food took a VERYVERY long time to get out to us. Our party was 6 people so we were not a big party but we weren’t small either. I did expect to have a bit of a wait but we ended up waiting about 20 minutes just to get our appetizers out to us! It was painful. The service was excellent other than the timing and she was very nice. For this location. it definitely was missing a lot of stuff to be desired. There is no partition like the location in the Arboretum so the sound just bounces around everywhere and in conclusion the noise level is quite terrible. I ended up leaving with a sore throat from yelling at my friends and a headache from all the ambient noise. The food was ok. We got two queso’s to start and they are really skimpy on the portion!!! We had one guy who was able to eat the one appetizer by himself. The rest of the girls in the party ended up having to share the other teeny tiny queso. The enchiladas seemed ok, the«chicken artichoke mushroom stack» was a bit of a disappointment due to the overcooked(dry) chicken, and their«serrano pepper pasta» was really oily and kind of drenched in sauce. Overall I would say that since Cedar Park/Avery Ranch area does not have a restaurant like this one, the residents will still be giving this place business but it just does not measure up to the more centrally located branches. That’s all I’m sayin’~ hehe There is plenty of parking and they have a good sized patio(although it faces Parmer so you hear a lot of cars) so there’s that.

I can’t believe they got rid of the Miso Salmon, Pot Stickers and some other really popular dishes? Not a fan of the new menu at all. Please bring back the most popular dishes and why why why are you charging for the cornbread now??? Disappointed.

I was very disappointed it was purchased first time we wanted something different as I took my husband for his birthday I was bummed to say we both had bad taste. Service was wonderful! The food was not so wonderful I had a chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, the chicken was so dry no flavor at all it tasted like it was dipped in water. hub had a steak that was being promoted & our waitress offered us. Steak with scallops. When he recieved his plate we were in shock to find a itty-bitty steak with 2 pieces of scallops. He was not happy. Corn bread tasted kinda like cardboard. We were more disappointed to see the $ 75 bill which was just not worth it. I felt horrible since it was his birthday. At least we could say we tried it.

We had lunch at ZTejas today and our waiter, CLAY, was AWESOME. We haven’t had such great service at a restaurant in a long time. Clay recommended great appetizers and entrees that we loved. I got the mushroom enchiladas and they were excellent. Clay was so friendly, fast, and gave great suggestions. Please let CLAY know that we WILL be coming back to the Avery Ranch ZTejas because of our great experience today. Thank you CLAY!

A lot of people recommended this place and the food wasn’t bad. We went at night and sat outside in the dark, but there was no lighting around. There was only one heat lamp turned on so people kept coming over to crouch under it. The staff was super nice though. It was good but nothing amazing I thought.

Came here for drinks on National Marg Day. Boyf and I each had 2 Hard Days. We were preeeeeetty buzzed after that, so we decided to order the cornbread. Worth. It. !!! Not sure of our waitresses’ name, but she was so sweet and super hospitable. She was from Africa and my boyfriend and I loved her accent lol.

Very disappointed on my last visit to Z. I’ve dined here before with family for happy hour and dinner and it has always been a bit above average. but after my last visit with my best friend, we will not be coming back! We got there a couple Saturdays ago around 6 pm for dinner and were told by the host stand that the wait time for a table would be about 10 – 15 minutes. We were given a pager and grabbed a couple spots at the bar to have a beer and kill time. The only positive thing I can say about my experience was that their bartenders at this location are awesome! Both men working behind the bar were friendly, outgoing, and attentive. About 30 – 45 minutes later and a second beer later, our pager still had not gone off. The host stand(which is RIGHT next to the bar) kept looking over at us, but we were never paged. Finally. the bartender asked for our pager number and told us he would check to see what was taking so long(Thanks again!) Immediately after he spoke with the hostesses, we were paged for our table. Once seated, our server told us he would be right over. 10 minutes later, he finally came to greet us. The service was definitely lacking, but we knew exactly what we wanted to order so we didn’t need much from him. Once the food hit the table, our server never checked back on us to see how everything was… the food was okay; miles above the service. We ordered the smashed guac and ran out of chips… wanted more for the rest of our guacamole, but the server never came by. At one point, I got up to use the women’s restroom. It was disgusting! There was a dirty diaper sitting right on the floor as soon as you walk in, paper towels all over the counter, and one of the toilets definitely needed attention. I warned my best friend to use the bathroom at home! We ordered a couple beers with our entrée which were dropped off by our server, and then he immediately ran off again. There was BRIGHTPINK lipstick on the glass and it was not ours! EW! I’m a server as well, and I know that glassware sometimes needs to be checked. but how someone could miss this, I have no idea! We could see our server in the kitchen(as it is open), just laughing and talking to another girl server the whole time. It took us getting another server to replace the lipstick beer, and he was very professional about it. The manager passed by our table several times. never stopping to apologize for the obvious mistake of loosing our pager number, or the lipstick stained dirty glassware. When the check was dropped, the cashier or server read: Cord/Zach. Hopefully this review will help the staff at Z find some ways to improve. but as for me, I will not be back.

Came here for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting something along the lines of a Tex-Mex Chili’s but it was a nice experience. We had no plans for Valentine’s Day brunch but woke up starving so I was able to snag a last minute reservation on OpenTable. We were greeted by a nice young lady who prompted us to the other hostess who showed us to our spots. We ordered the cornbread but I was a little let down. It was a little bland for my taste. But we ordered the breakfast quesadillas and the scrambled egg & bacon chile relleno which was out of this world! The muffins that came with it weren’t anything to write home about but it was a nice side item. Neither of us touched the muffins as we were stuffed with our entrees and the corn bread. I would return because it was extremely easy to get in and out of, good service, and tasteful food.

Always good food and a good atmosphere. This one is located right outside Avery Ranch, but I also visit the Z Tejas on Great Hills as well as downtown on 6th. It’s TexMex with a flare. Delicious food. Try the street tacos, the corn bread, the pork chile verde, green chile macaroni, the ruby trout, the chicken fried steak, the diablo pasta. … all are great. And the service is second to none. You can go to any of the Z Tejas in Austin and expect great food and great service. I also recommend their Sunday brunch with bloody Mary bar. Yum!

We enjoyed lunch here recently, and will definitely return. I’ve eaten at the original Z-Tejas, and the one near Arboretum, and like to go there for an «occasion», when you still want to be casual. My chicken enchiladas here were great… made«stacked» with a rich, roja sauce, and served with black beans and rice(both perfect). Service was very good. I love the restaurant interior… definitely upscale for Cedar Park area… a «gem» in the midst of suburbia. They had good drink specials, although I’ll return later for those. But… no cornbread anymore? I missed that.

Wasn’t impressed with the food at all. Drinks were subpar. Waitress took forever. Won’t be going back. Sent the first dish back, so bland. Atmosphere however and décor was pretty cool.

Z’Tejas is a favorite because prices are reasonable, the food is always good, and the restaurant is modern, good looking and comfortable. Service is good, nothing extraordinary. We always get the shrimp tostadas, they are fantastic. The burgers are very good, above average, and some of the best in this restaurant category. The patio is comfortable and in our list to visit once we get back into this 50 degrees winter weather :-)

I love this place but they changed a few things that I loved the most. The happy hour menu has changed and the cornbread is no longer free. They claim it’s cornbread for a cause and you pay $ 3 for it but I doubt much of that money goes to charity. The appetizers are $ 3 off and it’s a smaller selection of things so the Tejas trio is no longer $ 5 but $ 8.50. Pretty disappointing. The 4 stars is for everything still tasting good and the Tejas mule still being $ 5 during happy hour but I was not thrilled with the new menu changes.

Came for lunch on a weekday, so pretty quiet. The food was not good. I had some beans on my plate, and they were not edible. There were also a ton of small flies. They were everywhere! The waitress said they were an ongoing issue they’ve yet to resolve. It was just awkward swatting flies in between bites. The service was great, that’s why I gave 2 instead of one. They also gave me a complimentary dessert because it was my first time eating at any Z’Tejas location. That was really nice! Sadly, it will be my first and last time dining with them.

Same as the rest, superb. From the cornbread to the skinny rotas this place never fails to please. They have a great selection of TexMex meets Americana… Great happy hour! Brunch is delightful as well. I’m glad to see they opened this up north they need to know the goodness of Z’Tejas up there.

I used to go to Z all the time, Sunday brunch was da bomb! I know the original GM’s and owners, they created something special back in the day, but they sold it several years ago, and when they did, the quality and service went way down. Those original GM’s are now owners of Cover 2 and Cover 3. Z’Tejas today — not what it used to be… I wish it was because it’s right there in my neighborhood.

My wife and I attended Z’Tejas while on a date this week and were quite pleased. The seating area was non-traditional(not a rectangle dining area) and the seating provided an excellent amount of privacy for us to talk without being overwhelmed by those sitting around us. Some very positive aspects were: a wait staff that was neatly dressed, worked well together, helped each other out in clearing, and serving, and the gentleman who refilled our water glasses had the class to stand off the side of the table and wait until we finished our sentence before catching our attention to find out if he could refill our glasses. I mention this because my main objective when dining out is to dine well and to enjoy the company of those with whom I am dining. I find it incredulous for the water pitcher wait staff to exercise zero compunction about interrupting the diners who are involved in a discussion just so they can pour water. It was easy to notice the Manager cruising the floor, greeting guests and checking on his staff to assure their success. For entrees, my wife order the Seafood Enchiladas and I ordered the chicken, mushroom, artichoke stack. Both dishes were presented nicely and tasted quite good. The sauce that covered my dish was well blended and complimented the chicken and vegetables. We found the prices very reasonable when considering the quality of the site, the wait staff, and the preparation of the dishes.

I’ve been eating at Z Tejas for years and I have to say the quality and service has consistently declined. My latest lunch, with my wife, was no exception unfortunately. The service was slow and forgetful and the food was disappointing. Our waitress forgot silverware and was slow. With so many new and better Tex Mex restaurants available we sadly won’t be returning here…

My boyfriend and I haven’t been here in a while and decided to come back! Our waiter, Eric was very friendly and professional. He was attentive throughout! We started out with the Z’Tejas Trio which was really tasty! Love the queso and guac the most! I ordered the Diablo Pasta with Jerk Chicken which was very flavorful, with a little kick! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast quesadilla. He really loved it! We were offered muffins, apple and banana and those were the best muffins I have had ever! They make them fresh and were so good! We will definitely be back again sometime soon!

went here for lunch and was presently surprised, i got the crab cake salad which was HUGE(definitely split or anticipate taking a box home) the salad had 3 medium size crab cakes on it that were good, defonetly not the best quality of crab but it wa a good edition to the salad. The service was friendly and helpful but i think they were a but uncomfortable with such a large party(10) at lunch with a time crunch to be fair there is indoor and outdoor seating instead of chips and salsa they give the table cornbread and butter, ask for honey makes it so much better!

We used to come here every couple of weeks, if not more, and it was consistently great. However this is not the case anymore. Apparently there was some business/legal shifts in the past year and the managers/partners(not entirely sure on their exact role) left and opened Blue Corn Harvest(which is the bomb). So if you’re like us and loved Z in the past, check out Blue Corn. You can see by the Unilocal reviews that we’re not alone in our love for this place.

I finally tried Z Tejas in Avery Ranch. The service was terrible. I came at 8pm on Tuesday(the restaurant was roughly a quarter full) and waited close to 15 minutes before a server came by to welcome us and take our drink order. I had to stop another server to ask for a straw, a different person brought out the appetizer and entrée, and another person brought the complimentary cornbread. Our server came by once to ask if we would like our water refilled and we didn’t see him again until he brought the check(15 minutes after we were finished eating). We never got our glasses refilled at all. Not once. The food is over priced. We got the Tejas Trio(queso, guacamole, salsa) for an appetizer and spilt the blackened catfish tacos. The queso was likened to Velveeta with a bit of spice and the guacamole was flavorless. The tacos were tasty but not impressive by any means. We ended up asking to speak with a manager about the service and he was very friendly about our critique. Still, I probably won’t be coming back.

Jalapeño margaritas, great appetizers, and a good menu to choose from. Need more? We come here often for a local simple night out or as the first stop on a long night to come, but whichever the reason it is always a good time. I have eaten quite a few things here, from the Ahi Tuna, Seafood Enchilada, the specials that they have and even the salads. It really is a treat to come here. I always appreciate the attentive details of the staff, the comfy fires, and soft atmosphere of the place. Additionally, I enjoy using the«Open Table» app on my phone to get reservations ahead of time and walk through the door like a «boss» when we arrive knowing a table is waiting. The indoors and the outdoor seating is great, but as first mentioned. Jalapeño margaritas are really great. This last time there I didn’t see it listed on the menu, but trust me, they make them and make them very well. Just ask!

great place! Happy Hour was fantastic but I’d love to come back for lunch or dinner. FOOD: we ordered 2 apps not knowing 1) how huge they were and 2) they give you cornbread that was going to fill my tummy. We ordered 1) ahi tuna. It was good. I’d give it 3 stars but it was kind of bland. I would have enjoyed some sort of dipping sauce similar to Outback’s ahi tuna app. 2) green chile pork tostadas. great. omg so good. DRINKS: eh. I ordered a skinny marg. it was way too sweet for me. I would have sent it back but eh. I just let the ice melt to mask the sweetness. my love ordered the mexi martini, it was ok, again too sweet for me. I just don’t like sweet and sour mix. Would I come back. yes absolutely. would love to try other items. the day I cam here it was my lunch and dinner combined and it was perfect :)
