Whomp Smoke Shop

Womp has a wonderful selection of functional, non functional, and scientific glass. As a collector I was very pleased with the section available, I really did enjoy checking out all the wonderful local and national work. . Now the only part about the trip that was not phenomenal was the interaction with the employees. It was clear there was a pretentious higher than thou attitude given off by one of the gentleman working. This is not uncommon when visiting galleries or smoke shops, most of the time it’s expected. I’ll save a story and just say that the guy behind the counter is a casual rude, condescending, unhelpful employee which you can find at any shop across the country. I think it’s something with the glass scene these days or maybe it’s the entitlement that undeservingly comes with working in a head shop. Regardless womp is a awesome shop and if you’re visiting atx I would recommend stopping by.

Unprecedented oil, herb, and accessory variety. The employees were knowledgable and helpful. I went with my friend who was buying his first rig and I observed how they worked with him to get him exactly what he wanted.

This place is an awesome place when looking to purchase a new piece or other smoking accessory. I always go in with a budget and the guys working are always really helpful and friendly. From all the smoke shops I’ve been to in Austin, The Womp is my favorite for sure! The prices are perfect for what you’re getting and they have a wide range of different pieces from many artist.

Went to get a few pieces and a cigar (for Mother’s Day). This was the closet shop near my new apartment so I decided to check it out. Was blown away by the variety and quality of glass. Great artists featured here, including 503 Liberty from Portland, and many more.
I’m surprised to see that people have had bad experiences with the service here. When I went in, there were two guys working — both very friendly, and joking around with us. In some headshops the employees watch you like a hawk and follow you everywhere you go in the shop (even when things are locked up under glass. Here, they were very chill and let us explore on our own. When we needed assistance in checking prices, they were happy to help. There was also a really sweet, well-​behaved dog in the shop. Maybe HE was the one watching out for shop-​lifters. :)
All and all, great experience here. Was given free Vatra cases for each piece I purchased, not to mention got a great cigar recommendation. Would definitely recommend, and I will absolutely be returning!

After reading the negative Sweeny S, James C, and April F. comments, I told my self in no way do I want to support some young troll and his business. Little did I realize that THERE COMMENTS ARE THE TROLL!
I made my account so I could write this review because Unilocal and these «SEEDY COMMENTS» detoured me away from one of the greatest shopping experiences of my life, and made me waste 3 whole flipping hours going to other shops that were NOWHERE near as amazing as this store.
The SELECTION in this store is absolutely incredible. I saw just as many bongs in this one store as I did at the BC, Smoke-​ATX, and Drip City COMBINED. I was so disappointed that this was the last store I visited, because I could have already been smoking. They probably have 2 pipes for every day of the year, and there «heady» section is incredible.
As soon as I walked into the Whomp (which I found out USED to be a BC), I was immediately greeted from behind the counter while the gentleman was ringing someone out. Shooter (manager) and Todd (owner) were the ones who assisted me during my time shopping. I was never ignored, I was never mistreated. In fact, They let me do my thing first and foremost before I asked for help (they were very attentive and definitely ready to aid me). As soon as me or my wife would really notice something, they would come over and ask if they could take it. Fully attentive.
The younger owned came in too, who they called, «Shorty.» I can’t believe the ignorant things quoted about this young gentleman. He brought his employees food, and much to my delight had an extra serving of Nookies from Torchy’s Taco’s which he offered to both me and my wife (which are our absolute favorite fried treat).
These negative reviews will do nothing but mislead you. I spent the whole day looking at overpriced glass, visiting the ones listed before, along with Oat Willies and GRN up north. Where did I spend $ 1,344.00 on my anniversary presents to me and my wife? The very last stop. The Whomp Smoke shop!
So thank you Whomp for making my anniversary the best one yet. The Storz & Bickel Mighty and the Plume PAX that I purchased was listed at internet price which no other store offered. In fact, no one else carried the Mighty, and the PAX was $ 40 more EVERYWHERE ELSE!!! The Sovereignty g-​line was $ 100 dollars cheaper here than Smoke-​ATX even.
So please, I urge you not make the wrong decisions! You will not forgive yourself if you give any other store your money. This was an adults wonderland, and I am so thankful I waited and listened to my wife who said to give them a shot. Yall really deserve this review.

This place is great. The staff all seem to have some ownership in the shop because they go out of their way to be friendly and they are all very knowledgable. The prices are a bit high on some things, but the quality and selection make up for it. Huge selection of hookah materials. I will absolutely never go to Planet K again. For whipped cream cartridges, they have the best quality and price that is only beat by ordering it online. And some of the glass pipes they have could be in a museum. It’s also conveniently located at Lamar close to Riverside

Whomp is one of the best head shops I’ve ever been too! They have a ton of heady glass and everyone in there was really helpful and nice. I ended up getting a piece made by Salt who often does glassblowing there.

Lost my vape pen before a trip to Austin. I thought why not just buy one in Austin. It was a great decision. I went here based on Google reviews. The «young guy» many other Unilocalers interacted with assisted me. I went in looking for one of three pens but he sold me on another brand. He would have let me get the one I went in looking for. Though after he explained everyone uses it there in the shop for their own personal use. I was sold. I love the Purchase and the «young guy’s» recommendation.

The twerps behind the counter were awful people. I wish I has never wasted my time. The awful attitude of the losers behind the counter and someone who appeared to be the owner was just more than I could deal with. What did I do do deserve being treated so poorly. I went in there with the intention of buying something and I was treated as if I was there to waste their time. Sorry to WASTE your time losers. I just wanted to check it out and that somehow bothered you right from the get.

I went in with an open mind. A week later, I regretted it.
I ignored the fact that it is a seedy head shop and that the slack jawed pubescent behind the counter had his over sized tacky base ball cap on side ways. In my fervor to quit smoking cigarettes, I chose to over look the 80 dollar price tag on a vaping starter kit. I walked out of the store proud of myself for taking the first step away from tobacco addiction.
Cut to one week later. The o ring comes off of my Ego C Twist mouth piece. The pungent juice drips on to my pants, and I have to dig out an old pack of Pall Malls to tide me over until I can return to the shop and get a new o ring. I try to call ahead and ask if they have the o ring or will replace the tank, but no one answers the phone. I leave a message, but there is no return call. I decide to just go in to the store, confident that they will make things right.
Big mistake.
The smirking twit behind the counter informs me that they do not carry replacement parts and that it is my own fault that the device malfunctioned. I give him every opportunity to make things right. I even offer to pay for a new tank, if he can just give me a discount or throw in some wicks… or anything to just make me not feel ripped off. … No dice.
Don’t buy anything from this place. They are wholly unprofessional and do not stand behind their products.

The only reason I’m giving them one star is because they had what we needed. We experienced terrible customer service when me and my husband came in here and I’m not sure why. The guy at the counter acted like he didn’t want to have anything to do with us. Also if your into vaping their e-​juices are super expensive. We will never come into this place again. Super high prices and bad customer service.

Ive been to several other shops in the austin area since moving to Texas and I agree with the other reviews. This is the best all around smoke shop in Austin.
The selection of glass is high quality, and the staff are eager to boast of the local artist’s work they carry. They also have nice pendants and jewelry, and a selection of eCigarette accessories and oils.

I have to say this is a very nice shop. Not another gimmick store with shelves full of crap. Went there with an idea of what I wanted and the guys behind the counter were incredibly helpful in narrowing down exactly what I needed. I got all the info I needed on the various styles and features of e-​cigs and felt very well informed. On a side note, I’d researched a lot of this online and they only confirmed what I’d found. Didn’t try to upsell me on crap, props for the honesty.
I got an eGo e-​cig while in the shop and was looking for 0 nicotine e-​fluid and two of the guys spent 15 minutes digging around in bags full of the various flavors finding all the ones with 0mg and letting me smell them. Customer service is king here. The shop is very clean, centrally located and again not full of crap you don’t need. Go to Spencers or some other crap store for that. These guys are about smoking.
I’ll be returning.

Great location! Never got so many compliments than on my new opal wire ring i picked up, and can’t stop staring at it…
