One of my favorite parts of Austin! Lots of choices because of the many food trucks parked here. I forgot the exact name of the truck I got my shrimp tacos at, but they were great. It can come grilled or blackened based on your preference. My favorite truck was«Hey… You Gonna Eat or What?» based on their truck decorations. I wasn’t able to try their food since they were closed at the time :( Be aware of the flies and the homeless population.

If there is a place with food trucks then I’m there! We scoped this location out before we headed down here to Austin and new we HAD to swing by. I hit up The Mighty Cone while my husband waited in line at Brunch Haus. This place obviously has something for everyone! I enjoyed the Deluxe Combo Cone(Shrimp & Avocado) and my husband inhaled his Chicken & Waffles. It was pretty hot and sunny that day, and the picnic area was packed from the tour bus that had just dropped of tons of people, but this was definitely worth the visit!

The Picnic refers to a small area in Barton Springs that houses several different food trucks. In essence, it is a food trailer park. The city of Austin is known for having many different food trailer parks throughout. It’s a nice way to park at one location and have multiple food choices.

Great little food trailer park. Lots of choices. BYOB at most of the trailers(though they do serve non-alcoholic drinks). The parking is usually full, so I’d suggest cycling over or walking over. Every visitor definitely must try«Hey… You Gonna Eat Or What?» They are, easily, the best food truck in Austin. And, they have the best Monte Cristo ever.

This place is awesomeeee but this review is based on the«you gonna eat that or what truck». In the long run, the food was worth the try but we had to wait 30 – 45 minutes for our food in 50 degree weather, without the attendant even letting us know that there was a wait, etc which might’ve been a kind thing to do considering there were other food trucks we really wanted to try too. Anyway, by the time we got our food it was ok as I mentioned but almost rushed. I got the monte cristo and it was almost limp and not fried all the way. The turkey sandwich with green tomatoes(forgot name) was the highlight of the meal, accompanied with fresh cut potato chips. Definitely coming back but to try other trucks.

The only thing better than eating at a food truck is being able to craft a food truck smörgåsbord feast due to having many delicious options all in the same place… that my friends is The Picnic Food Truck Park. Do your self a favor, get over there and get prepared for deliciousness overload!

Location, location, location! Barton Springs is a great location, ‘cos its not too far from South Austin, which is a huge plus(at least for me). They have some amazing food trucks here, ample seating, plenty of PARKING! It’s our THE go-to hangout spot.

I love food trucks. Sort of obsessed I guess you could say. We ordered a gyro from Kebabalicious. It took a long, long time like 30 mins, but we realized the guy taking the order was making the food as well. It was soooooo good. Probably one of the best gyro’s I’ve had. It had a lot of meat, good flavor, not greasy, and the pita was soft. My boyfriend and I split a cupcake for dessert from the cupcake truck. It was moist and delicious. Great idea! I wish Houston had more places like this.

Great food truck spot in a prime Austin location. They have free parking and covered seating and restrooms. The variety of trucks is great. They have Chi lantro, Hey you gonna eat or what?, a kabob place, turf and surf, tapas, food in a cone, a juice truck, and cupcakes. We tried something from three of the trucks and everything we had was really good.

I love the vibe here. The land owner has done a great job of making this a nice and comfortable place to enjoy truck food. The picnic has its own parking lot, indoor clean private restrooms, and a roof to provide shade. There’s plenty of seating around the area and the tables are usually kept clean pretty well by the vendors. The Picnic has some of my favorite vendors: Hey you gonna eat or what? Mighty Cone Turf and Surf Definitely check those out!

Great food truck park in Austin. They have the number one rated food truck and the chef is a super guy. They have a nice assortment and it is covered in case of rain and to keep you shaded. They have indoor restrooms which is a plus and a perk at an outdoor foot truck park. It is worth checking out and there is a good amount of parking too.

This is hands down the best food truck park in town. There is a parking lot directly behind it with ample parking. The tables have awnings over them providing plenty of shade. There are bathrooms there. AND the selection of food trailers is phenomenal. They have a wide variety of cuisines and every single one of them is good. Our only complaint is that at noon on a Friday a few of the trucks were not open yet, which seems like a big miss on their part. But there were plenty of other options open. It is a great spot to go with a group when people have different tastes and preferences.

Plentiful seating, great location. Lots of parking and easy access to trash cans. Bathrooms and ATM on site. Quite a variety in the food trucks but so many of them close early or don’t have a full menu. I was disappointed that 3pm on a Monday only four out of the eight or nine trucks were actually open. I expected more. Facilities are wonderful though.

This is the former Barton Springs Food Court moved to newer and better digs. The Barton Springs Food Court was a former empty lot on Congress filled with food courts all of whom moved en masse to better digs because they were evicted. That said, this son-of-a-son-of-a-place aspires to be the premier court for food trucks in Austin — and they have a credible claim for the title. You need all of the above to make it as an outdoor food court: a)excellent food trucks b) a strong location c) strong facilities They’ve got the package. They have a fine pavilion to eat under that is architectually well designed, and looks cool-keep-Austin-weird. The ceilings have giant fans to keep you cool in hot weather — a definite plus. They have pleasant permanent bathrooms, kept clean by zealous control with lock and key. They play music.(Top 40 hits from a year ago but you can do worse.) They are on Restaurant Row near Zilker Park which is a fine location. Frankly — as soon as they moved in — they IMMEDIATELY became THEBEST restaurant on Restaurant Row. This is a sad commentary on the lame tame places that comprise the Barton Springs Road competition. The food trucks there are legitimate premium contenders. You have Hudson’s on the Bend’s spinoff the Mighty Cone serving elaborate wild game concoctions and vegan alternatives for the cowardly or principled. They have Hey You Gonna Eat or What? which is a fine fine sandwich establishment. There are serviceable kebab and mexican and grilled whatever trucks. There is a good for you juice and smoothie truck if you are not quite healthy enough to make the walk over to Casa de Luz. There is Hey Cupcake which is considered to be the best cupcake business in Austin. (Why, oh lord, why???) But the landlord can say she has a number one cupcake truck on her premises to go with Hudson’s Mighty Cone and Hey You Gonna Eat? So there are good things for the having at the Picnic — and the physical amenities are certainly first rate. And when you get down to it, this may in fact BE the best court for Food Trucks in Austin. It is certainly worth a visit.

Totally genius idea. Finally, a trailer park with tons of space to sit, bathrooms, and a private parking lot! The fans keep it cool in the summer, as well as the well-designed awning. When it comes to food, each and every trailer has something delicious to offer. –Kebabalicious: Get the Beef/Lamb wrap, be sure to add Ka-Baam sauce. Amazing! –Mighty Cone: I dig the avocado cone & the cheese sticks. –Turf N Surf: Pulled pork tacos for life. –Tapas Bravas: Meatballs! –Hey! You Gonna Eat: Monte Cristo. Duh. –Hey Cupcake!: Miss Shortcake is to die for. –Skinny Limits: all about how you like your smoothie. All ingredients are fresh and delicious, so you can’t really go wrong. Bring the whole family, cuz this place is a haven where you can feed everyone what they want.

Overall, pretty cool food truck court. Shhhh… don’t tell anybody,. but I think I like this locale better than the old spot.:/ Tons of picnic tables, bathrooms, and PARKING is a breeze. Did I mention easy parking? Oh, yeah. Plus, all the carts(I’m pretty sure) take credit cards if you don’t have cashola, some stay open pretty late, and there are enough choices in «The Picnic» to please any palate. I understand the advantage of food trucks and their mobility, but I wish more would take a more permanent residence at The Picnic(although 6 have been there frim the beginning). For example, it appears Ms P’s Electric Cock has relocated… and I really wanted to try because of a.) the name(hoot hoot) and b.) REALLY wanted to sample some the Truffle Mac N Cheese [gosh dernit Keri B! — ;)]! Some of the current trucks are: Kebabalicious — must get the lamb kebab! Hey Cupcake! — meh. Tapa Bravas — really great tasting duck pâté slider(no texture) and spicy hummus slider. Hey…You Gonna Eat or What? — try the Monte Cristo. The Mighty Cone — haven’t tried. Turf N’ Surf — haven’t tried. …and a few others. So come hungry, bring some friends(all the better to buy some of everything and share with), be adventurous, bring booze, and be happy! Picnic on!

I really need to visit this place again — but the Friday afternoon that I went, I had an amazing monte cristo from«Are you gonna eat or what?» and looked longingly at the seedling truck which I dearly miss from it’s Draughthouse residency days. I’m no food truck expert, but I think this is the nicest food truck park in town. Shade, BIG fans, nice picnic tables, wide variety of food choice, and restrooms!

Heeeey Boo Boo, let’s have a picanic! I think Yogi Bear would love this place even tho I couldn’t find a single jelly sandwich. I know I loved it and that’s saying a lot for me about food trailers. I mean, I love the food that comes out of trailers, the creativity the chefs produce out of a tiny truck, the freedom they have to produce some interesting stuff in a low overhead, non-brick and mortar place, but trailers in general are very frustrating for me. So what are the 3 Terrors of the Trailer Park? Do they have parking and a spot to actually eat your food? We figured this out pretty fast… lots of parking, lots of picnic tables AND big fans to help you stay cool under a covering awning. Do they take credit cards or do I need to dig in my car seat for quarters? Yes, yes they do take credit cards here, some even have the nifty iPad payment/signature thingy. There is also an ATM on site, however unneeded. But, you say, what about the H.O.B.‘s??? Hours of Business, I ask? I don’t think they exist. But here they do! According to their FB page they are 11:00 — 9:00 and on the particular Wed evening I went, all but one trailer was open and happy to serve(shakes angry fist at Hey, You Gonna Eat That or What?!). Yes, I could be quite happy living here for some time… with a smörgåsbord of food like giant fish tacos from Surf n Turf, truffle mac n cheese from Ms P’s Electric Cock, and the brussel sprouts and churros from Tapas Bravas. Can’t wait to return, booze in tow, to try Seedlings crab cakes and pork belly buns! You can’t take this girl out of the trailer park, naw.
