I was charged $ 3 per taco and i wasn’t drinking(yet). They don’t list their prices so maybe it fluctuates depending on the time of night or how wealthy you appear. I was looking pretty sharp i’m not gonna lie, but far from wealthy. The whole experience was awful and i’m trying so hard to forget it. I mean, i can’t even drive past the joint without having thoughts carnita inadequacy and feelings of moral distain. I wouldn’t wish this experience on the worst of any eeny meeny taco affiliate.

One night I got drunk and ordered tacos, and one night they made the exact opposite of what I asked. My allergy/aversion to cilantro is met with gasps, sighs and many other negative feedback, but I cannot help my situation. But you can, by making my chicken fajita taco on flour, with no cilantro. But you didn’t. I forgive you for making them first on corn, with beef fajitas and with only cilantro, because hey, we all make mistakes. But really, twice in a row? How many times do I need to send these tacos back? How many variables are there? I don’t know, don’t ask me, I don’t work there, and don’t eat there anymore.

This is not the best taco stand I’ve experienced but something about it makes me come back over and over again. Fave meats are the carnitas and barbacoa by far. The chicharron has good flavor but isn’t crispy and that really detracts from it. As mentioned in other reviews, the al pastor lacks pineapple which is lame. Best bang for your buck is to get a tostada(personal favorite), torta, or quesadilla. The individual tacos are not worth buying as they just don’t put enough in them. The salsas are wicked good. I prefer the green salsa(crazy spicy though… be careful!), but the orange sauce is great too. Even on busy nights, they hustle to get your food to you in a timely manner.

Pro: Good Tinga tacos, I get them on flower. Shares the location with the Grackle so good right after they close. Con: Very down east side of 6th.

When you are at the Grackle with your friends having a beer, be sure to go to the parking lot and order yourself some incredibly delish and cheap tacos from this little gem of a trailer. You won’t regret it. Just go out, place your order, tell them you are inside the Grackle and they will give you a number. In no time, a very nice man will run your goodies in to you and you can dig in to the taco-y goodness. All of their tacos are excellent, and of great quality considering the cheap cost per taco. We initially ordered only two each, but they were so damned good, that we ended up placing two more orders because our table kept devouring those babies. They will make them however you like them, so feel free to add or subtract ingredients. But, for heaven’s sake, be careful with the green sauce. It’s delicious, but that stuff is no joke! It’ll clear your sinus congestion in a heartbeat! Lastly, they do accept credit cards for amounts over $ 5, but when I tried to pay for my two tacos with a $ 20 and they had no change, they let me use my credit card for the $ 4 bill. Nice guys!

Out on the town, late night with some friends, on East 6th… shoot — — if you want tacos from a trailer, this place is pretty darn good. About 2 bucks a taco, they even have fish too. I kept reading about that wonderful green salsa — — and they were making some fresh as we walked up. For comparison, it’s similar to Taco Deli’s green«Dona» salsa. But OMG — it was hot as hell too and woke our asses up. Portions were unspectacular, based on some of the pics we saw on Unilocal — ours looked more like a $ 1 taco. Quality was good, however, nothing game changing when it comes to the Taco Showdown. But she definitely could have put more Al Pastor and Chicken meat. I think if they would have stayed consistent with the portions then it would be close to a perfect rating, but on this night it was just… meh. It’s cool that they’re connected w/The Grackle — so you can get a number and sit inside the bar and they’ll bring the food to you. They have 3 sauces, 2 reds and that lovely green — which is my fave, although be careful — — because it will certainly(in the words of Debbie Boone) light up your life.

Okay so I was really disappointed in the quantity and quality of the food. My three tacos were: tripa, lengua, and bistek, on double corn tortilla for maybe an ounce of meat. I couldn’t really taste the meat in all three tacos. More of the onion flavor came through than the actual meat. It really sucked. The service was good. Too pricey for what we got. definitely won’t be returning to this establishment.

This place is great. The only downside is they use pre-packaged tortillas. Otherwise the tacos here are so good. The hot sauces do not fuck around. I prefer their verde one but both are spicy. The girl that regularly works the window is also hot, for whatever it is worth. Tacos come optionally with onion, cilantro, and lime to squeeze on the side. Some highlight tacos for me: –Al Pastor No pineapple which is disappointing but the meat is not dry and is tasty so I still like to order it. –Barbacoa Real cheek barbacoa, I enjoyed it. –Chicharron Comes with a flavorful stew type sauce. –Lengua Amazing flavor. Really nicely prepared. –Tinga Another good choice although not the best taco they have. –Tripa So good, it is going to sound weird but the best way I can think to describe this is the taste if you made a beef pepperoni. But it is super chewy and fried.

Started going there when it was Primos, albeit not a ton, and kept going back after late nights at Liberty down the street. the 3 am closing time is the tits. I still think the taco truck in front of Bingo on Riverside has the best mexican street tacos in the city but this place hands down has the best«everything» else tacos. This place has withstood the hipster invasion and held its own. glad to see that they are doing well despite competition moving in literally right next door(who does that anyway!?). their tortas are awesome, and i had the breakfast tacos(bacon/bean/potatox2, sausage/bean/potato) there saturday afternoon and they slammed. if you don’t like them, then you probably moved to austin in the last 3 years, grew up in califas, and should watch out for white on white crime in the area(which fyi sucks). hope they and the grackle do very well. fyi, the girl working the truck is pretty cute too but honestly, the food is so good i almost don’t notice… almost. oh yeah, they accept credit cards. not sure if any of their truck competition within 3 blocks does. no reservations should have come here instead of the overpriced spot down the block but that is probably due to this place’s perceived lack of culinary imagination. lets face it, its a taco truck. but its meat options are more extensive than most Brick & Mortar restaurants and why get all Alinea chicago style when you can literally make the best tortas, breakfast tacos, and basically top 5 anything mexican dish in the city for under 6 bucks?

In my quest to deconstruct the myth surrounding the atx taco scene as one worthy of praise, I have eaten at Tacos Selene(TS) numerous times. Like the rest of austin’s taco scene I find much lacking in TS’s tacos but I appreciate the consistency of the flavors and the mom & pop flare of TS. 1. Barbacoa resembles pot roast more than barbacoa, however I understand that to make barbacoa is a long and somewhat difficult preparation process. Most molinos only serve it on the weekends but TS serves it all the time. This near barbacoa resemblance is both good and bad since is available at 2:30 but is ultimately disappointing because it is really pot roast. 2. «Salsas» are more Jalisco style, and very good. It would be nice if there was a tex-mex style salsa available. I ask for this because they serve, the quintessential tex-mex tacos… breakfast tacos. 3. Breakfast tacos are ok. Their chorizo was really dry the few times I’ve had it(they over cooked it) and their papa con huevo barely passes muster. Its clear that breakfast tacos are an afterthought in the TS repertoire. 4. Their Al Pastor and Fajita tacos are much better than their breakfast but achieving this is a fairly easy feat, as you only need to pick a decent cut of meat and a seasoned grill to make these taste good. They do provide fresh fixin’s for these which is nice. 5. As I will continue to state(see my other reviews of tacos), good tacos require good tortillas. TS fails to provide a good tortilla, both the corn and flour are from a bag. Fresh in-house tortillas make tacos a million times better. Of course the lack of a taco palette present in most Austinites tongues leads this to be a recurring problem I have with most austin taco stands/restaurants. Ultimately TS is a good place to go in austin at any time of day(if they’re open before 7 and/or on a Mon, Tue, Wed, or Sun). However, this is much like stating that something is brilliant when its competitors are below mediocrity. I appreciate the existence of TS but I must reiterate that we need a higher standard for tacos in the atx area.

This place is a godsend!!! It is the perfect place to grab a taco at 3 am !!! The green sauce is very spicy and will melt your face!!! I love how cheap they are and friendly the workers are! They are the best hand made tacos on the eastside for sure!!!

When you catch this trailer on a day that it’s open, it’s in your best interest to stop by and take advantage of it while you can. The owners of this trailer are super friendly and always all smiles. They cater to vegetarians(they don’t even charge extra for avocado), are nearby some of my favorite bars, and at 2 $ a taco, are super affordable. As a plus, their salsa is some of the best around.

This small Taco Trailer outside Club Primos on the East side of 6th Street rocks! They have moderatly priced tacos, but they taste as Mexican tacos should taste. Brilliant, served hot, zesty lime on the side, onion and cilantro on your choice of flour or corn tortillas and many many ‘toppings’ to choose from: Lengua, Chicharron, Oreja, Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Fajita and many many more… they also have Breakfast style stuff, you know egg and bacon/chorizo/potatoe etc… but I’m not the breakfast kind. The service was great, this stand is operated by owners Bejamin & Selene Gomez. I went to check it out because one of my friends told me about it. I got four tacos and a bottle of sangria — they have by the way, a kick as green and red salsas… mhhh. I just came back from there and I want to go again!

Spicy creamy magical green salsa that will leave your mouth on fire wishing you could gather some kind of composure so you could express how freakin’ amazing that taco experience was, but you can’t because your mouth is dumbfounded by the unbelievable greatness of Tacos Selene and your brain has transcended to another dimension of heaven and happiness. THAT is Tacos Selene.

In a town where the 2 dollar taco is a rare encounter… much less a GOOD2 dollar taco, Selene’s little taco truck on the Club Primo’s parking lot reigns supreme. The taco choices are plentiful and authentic. From basics like bistek and pescado, to chicharron and tripitas. All with your choice of green or red salsa(both equally as picositas but very very sabrositas). Service is prompt and friendly. Nothing fancy here. which is precisely how it should be.
