The floor was filthy under the table. Menus were in similar need of cleaning. The sake we ordered was presented to me looking as though it had been extracted from a recycling bin, and also appeared to be already opened(with some missing from the bottle) when it was served. Surprisingly, the food wasn’t terrible. When my friend complained about being overcharged for two of our items(the bill showed them priced higher than stated in the dirty menu), the server manning the register said they could not change the price, because there was no manager on the premises. Instead, he offered my friend $ 5 cash from his pocket. WTF?!

I love Suzi’s. The jalapeño chicken is great and the portions are good. The service and everything here is the best. I will definitely be back.

This was our first time back since they shut down and remodeled. The food stayed the same and is excellent! The looks and feel have changed 100% and that’s not a bad thing just different. Suzi was in-house that night and it was great too see her!

Utility American Chinese. Better than average execution. Not as lush or as good as P.F. Chang’s but reliable and comforting.

Food is mediocre, service is terrible and they are super stingy on the liquor… that’s pretty sad! There’s no reason for me to ever come back given the other great surrounding restaurants. Should’ve known better than to try this place out.

I’ve been to Suzies many times and always have a great experience. Their avocado bombs are worth driving across the state for! Service is good, food always delicious. I will be back!

In a word«meh». The dumplings were really disappointing. Very little meat, too much won tom and the won ton paper didn’t appear to be very fresh. I’m not sure what their specialty is, but we didn’t feel that the sesame chicken was anything special either. I know it’s hard to find good Chinese food in Texas, but these guys aren’t really helping the cause. The search continues…

This is one of the better restaurants in Austin for lunch. The lunch menu is quite affordable and delicious. For a reasonable price you get a portion of soup, an egg roll, and your main dish with fried rice. The kung pao chicken is really delicious, as is the buddha’s delight and the spicy blackbean beef. Great customer service as well as the great food. Read with caution any of the reviews prior to the re-opening. I was a customer way before the remodel and now that I’ve visited a couple of times since i can honestly say that the quality of the ingredients has improved to the point where I’ve become a long time returning customer! The uni, sashimi, and the unfiltered Japanese cold saki have become my newfound favorites also. Give this place a try!

My parents are Suzi’s regulars. She knows them by name and they come here often. I have been once or twice, both before the renovation. This was my first visit after the renovation and, continuing the family tradition, I brought my daughter. The restaurant has a modern, open design, very different from the old place. We were greeted immediately with a warm, friendly smile and seated immediately. We opted to start with soup, egg drop for her, shrimp wonton for me. Both soups were served nice and hot and both had good flavor. I really loved the shrimp wonton soup. For dinner, I went with the happy family and my daughter got her usual beef with broccoli. The ingredients were obviously fresh and brightly colored and crisp. The happy family was full of shrimp, beef, chicken and pork, tasty vegetables, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and a flavorful sauce. I can’t say it was the best version I’ve ever had, but it was nice and fresh. The beef broccoli was rich and flavorful with a nice ratio of meat and veggies. The brown sauce wasn’t my favorite, however, but my daughter liked it. I just felt it was lacking in flavor. The last little item we had was the egg rolls, which were my least favorite thing. The two sauces served with them were not to my liking. In all fairness, I don’t like the horseradish mustard sauce anywhere, so maybe I’m not the best judge, but even the red sauce tasted bad. I ended up giving the rest of my egg roll to my daughter… and that never happens. Overall, Suzi’s is pretty good, uses fresh ingredients, but is pretty plain vanilla and Americanized for the price point. If I’m going to spend $ 40 on Chinese food, I’d rather it be a little more traditional or a little more inventive. I don’t want to walk the middle of the road for that price. I’d give 3.25

This is a pretty good place for Americanized Chinese food. The food is good. The service is excellent. The noise level is LOUD! Hard to talk no matter where you sit, though outside would be a good choice nowadays. I had the sesame red snapper. The snapper could have been a little fresher. The egg drop soup was some of the best I have had in years! The egg roll, meh. My friend had the Chicken Delight and scarfed it down in no time exclaiming, I am FULL! With tax, tip and iced tea it was a $ 15 per person lunch. I’d go again with a friend who likes this kind of American Asian food but I’d prefer somewhere more authentic!

Lunch specials under $ 10 and come with fried rice, soup and egg roll(similar to spring roll from Panda Express). You can upgrade to wonton for $ 1. Service was quick and they brought out white rice for my son almost instantly. Weird that their booths sit 4 so you have to share a table of 2 with another table of 2, separated by a divider. I don’t think many people want to sit w my 1 yr old ;) I thought they’d have big bowls of wonton and my bf said it was good so I was excited. No extra goodies(ckn, shrimp, veggies) so not sure why he said that… Fried rice nothing too special. Sweet and sour chicken was okay, but nothing to write home about(I usually like my sauce on side so I can dip but forgot to ask). I’ll be back since its next to my bfs work and try sushi or some other dishes and update my review. Maybe should’ve went for the phở place across the street since I was in the mood for soup…

Suzi’s delivers it all: location, ambiance, service, and quality of food and drink. I put it right up there with Chang’s and Chinatown for overall value and experience. Today, instead of ordering one of my usual chicken dishes(Sesame, General Tso’s, or Jalapeño), I tried their Lemon Chicken, which could also be called Pineapple Chicken because those are its two most obvious ingredients. The lemon part of the dish is a lemon sauce, which is really more like a lemon preserve sauce(sweet not sour), Overall, I’d call it one of the best Chinese dishes I’ve had here in Austin, ranking second only to Chang’s Mongolian Beef. The chicken is just fantastic: lightly breaded, unbelievably moist and tender all-white breast meat. The pineapple chunks are deeply infused with the lemon preserve sauce, creating the best tasting pineapple chunks I’ve had since my last trip to Maui. Because of that, maybe they should call this dish«Hawaiian Chicken.» And the lemon preserve sauce is so tasty that I actually put down my chopsticks and gathered up every last drop of it with a spoon. Suffice it to say I’ll definitely be getting this phenomenal dish the next time I dine here.

BIG things come in SMALL packages. The old restaurant was cavernous and hard to fill. It was also dark and dark and dark. Welcome the new Suzi’s China Grill and the new kitchen. Fresh, crisp, exciting food that begs to be eaten. WE had lunch there today after having to wait SO long for the reopening but it was worth it, The new restaurant layout is open, friendly and is well laid out. The new bar is well lit and displayed for the whole world to see. All in all Suzi’s has come back to the top of the mark except for one thing… we need one is South Austin.

My coworkers and I went here for lunch yesterday as a last minute decision. When we arrived it was very busy. The parking lot was quite full(we had to park by Mattress Firm) and the restaurant was also full. Unfortunately we had a group of eight and there are only a couple of tables that were large enough to accommodate a group of our size so we were told the wait would be 20 — 25 minutes. Being that we work on an hour lunch break we told the hostess that this wouldn’t work for us. She apologized and stated that if we call ahead next time they will reserve a table for us. As we were walking out we noticed that there were tables and chairs outside on the patio that were empty so my coworker went back in and asked if we could sit there(it was the first decent weather day in Austin for the past couple of weeks). We were told yes and they helped to pull some tables together. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and we were all impressed with the flexibility they had with the menu as well as the food itself and the value. I ordered the three delight which is beef, chicken and shrimp with vegetables in sauce. They were happy to prepare it spicy for me and it included fried rice, an egg roll and my choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup(wonton soup was $ 1 more) for $ 9.50. My coworker is vegetarian and they also gladly allowed her to substitute tofu for the peppered beef entrée. I’ve never had an egg drop soup I liked so much and the entrée was great too. Out of eight people dining here everyone walked away happy and with a full tummy. I’m sure we will return again.

Great little Asian fusion restaurant. I had the spider roll and the dumplings appetizer. Spider roll wasn’t as big or flavorful as I am accustomed to, but not bad. Dumplings have a spicy peanut sauce that has quite a kick. Super tasty. Also tried one of the crab rangoons from our table and a lettuce wrap. Also tasty. If you are here with someone with nut allergies, but sure to double check menu and ask your server before ordering. We didn’t have any issues, but better safe than sorry. Server(guy with ponytail) was super cool and overall, the place had a fun vibe. Would definitely come back!

I just don’t get the Suzi’s love. My husband and I decided to check out the newly renovated restaurant a few weeks back. Despite both of us having underwhelming experiences at its previous incarnation, we were lured in by the frequently crowded parking lot and raves on our neighborhood listserv. The new space is brighter and more modern than the old outpost. It’s also loud. Not the place to bring your hard-of-hearing parent or to hold a deep conversation. Service was efficient, albeit not particularly friendly. The food was alright, but not worth the higher price point. We had the chicken supreme, which was fine, but not memorable, and pan-fried noodles that were completely devoid of flavor. We left much of each dish untouched and didn’t bother to bring the leftovers home with us. We both remarked that we must be missing something because other patrons seemed so happy with their meals. Maybe we need to read up to find a go-to dish?

Suzi’s is in my neighborhood and I have anxiously waited for their reopening. The interior is certainly smaller, but we were able to get a table on a Thursday evening without any trouble. The floor plan is fairly open, so we requested a booth. They have nice large booths, but probably less than 30 tables in thr whole joint. Now I realize that I give a lot of 5 stars in my reviews, but if he service is great, the food is delicious, and I want to return, I give it a 5star. The service at Suzi’s is fast and prompt, and no funny business. There servers get to the point, but are efficient and polite. They have a nice wide menu, plus sushi menu and nice wine list. Sorry, no beers on drafts and no liquor. We had two egg rolls for an appetizer(only $ 3!) and they were awesome and came out in less than five minutes. I ordered the Chicken with Pine Nuts, which was lightly breaded, served with tons of yummy veggies. I loved the sauce and flavor. Hubby ordered the Beef Mimosa and also thought it was delicious. The restaurant was clean and modern, the restrooms smelled like a garden and we were in and out so fast. I’ll be back to Suzi’s.

We stopped in at Suzi’s north a couple of weeks ago around 8 pm and surprisingly for a Saturday night it wasn’t totally out of control. We were immediately seated but we never got served/waited on so we ended up leaving. Probably for the better though. The new place looks to fancy for my taste and much of the dinner prices we saw were for the new breed of Austinites, not the people that have been here for 25+ years. Oh well, that’s progress I guess. We might come by for lunch sometimes to see if the food still taste as good as I remember but I’ll miss the ambiance of a «mom and pop» type of restaurant feel I remember.

I do not like the new atmosphere here. It is less intimate than befire and table stuff. Long line. Giving us 2 soups for free: egg drop soup and hot and sour for my husband and all. The hot and sour is very hot and all. free noodles for soup and all. Egg drop soup is good but dont love sweet and sour sauce. Waitresses are very friendly here. mongolian beef is good.
