This place has consistently gone downhill since it became Sap’s. The other day I was there and ordered seafood mix with my noodles, I noticed the squid looked different. Then to my horror I realized it’s imitation squid made from pig rectum. Cheap, disgusting ingredients!

My experience with Saps is very bipolar. On good days their food is fresh, perfectly spiced and prepared quickly. On their bad days it can take forever to get your food and when you do it can be somewhat under-cooked in my experience. I love the atmosphere and again when it’s good it’s great. I just wish it was more consistent.

Has gone totally downhill… Pad thai looked and tasted like it came from a box.

I’ve never had anything here I didn’t like. The staff can be very helpful with suggestions, especially if it’s your first time here and/or ever eating Thai.

474 reviews … why am i writing another? because it’s that good! the flavor is intense! they do need to re-arrange their to-go line. sometimes you can stand in the doorway and wait several minutes to be seated, but no worries… once you are seated the staff will take care of you. Patrick is my favorite wait staff. he is very friendly, keen, and loves his job. the others should take note! I could easily eat here several times a week.

Came on a Friday evening and the place gets packed! As an Austin transplant, I’ve been trying to find that perfect pad-see-ew and I think we’ve got a winner! Lots of flavor and you can smell the wok seared meat. Also try ones the amazing green beans with ground pork… AMAZING. Clean and nicely decorated. We only had a short wait and they were busy! Extensive me u so we will definitely be back to try other dishes!

Excellent food! Ask for Doad. All I asked was a suggestion on curries. He read my mind and gave me exactly what I was craving. I always enjoy coming here.

If you blow the fried tofu, you are fired. Sorry not that good. To me that’s one of the essentials of East Asian quisines. kind like bread at Italian and French restaurants.

Me and my wife used to go there very often. We loved the Pud Khing and Masmand Curry, the Pud Khing here is really special. I have surprised my wife so many times by taking food from here … :)

A satisfied customer for Thai craving. This place is a really great place if you are looking for great food with humongous portions. I had the chicken pad Thai and it had enough food for 2 people! I ordered it togo and it was delicious! Ask for spicy sauce with it. They gave me a spicy sweet and tangy sauce that went really well with the pad thai!

The boyfriend and I were hunting for a good Thai place on a Saturday night that a) wasn’t a food truck and b) didn’t have an outrageous wait-time. We found Sap’s on Unilocal and headed over. This isn’t to say the food was bad… it just wasn’t that good. The menu is extensive and for someone who isn’t familiar with the many different Thai dishes, the number of pages in the menu was exhausting. It was hard to decide and even harder not to second guess myself after! While the décor is cute, the restaurant itself felt dirty. The menus, tables, floor all felt like there was a layer of film left by previous diners. One thing that struck me was the diversity of the clientele and how welcomed that was. Overall, I wouldn’t seek Sap’s out, but if I was nearby and craving Thai food, I might return.

We love this place for the fish tank that entertains the kids and, of course, the delicious food. The menu is long and everything we’ve tried has been great. The staff is always very friendly.

This is my favorite place for Thai food in Austin. Delicious, consistent, with a great staff. I have never had a bad experience here! I have ordered many things from their(exhaustive) menu, and never been disappointed, but easily my favorite is their Pad See Ew. I get it with beef, flat noodles, and extra Chinese broccoli. Also their special beef masaman(I think) curry is amazing. Like a curry pot roast. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, I eat there regularly, and their pick up is fast and delicious!

Green Papaya salad, pad see ew, yum! The only downside is the service is very slow & inconsistent. Will be back though when we come back to town.

I have been going to Sap’s also known as «Madame Mam’s», for as long as they have been open. It was always a very consistent and tasty food source and a staple for dining out. I had not been in some time and decided it was time for some Pad Thai, and looked so forward to the familiar flavors. Well, it was absolutely disgusting. I mixed in the bean sprouts and began to eat and realized that the bean sprouts were mildewed and tasted like mop water. The flavor of the pad Thai was not much better, overly sweet, and I must have gotten the bottom of the crushed peanuts because when it was mixed together it tasted like peanut butter and ketchup mixed together. At this point I am hoping I do not get sick. Service was friendly but if you notice your guest eats none of their food and does not want it to-go you should inquire. I did let my server know it was the worst version of Pad Thai I had ever had. I will never go back to this restaurant again. I will go to Thai Fresh, or Tattiya. From some of the reviews I have read, they may have lost their chef at this location. My suggestions as someone who has been in the restaurant business for over 30 years get a good chef and pay them well, also find a good FOH manager to make sure things are getting done on the floor. I suggest you step up your game or you will not be around with all the competition in this town. I would have been happier eating at Taco Bell.

Went in for a lunch with relative that visiting Austin. We had to wait maybe 5 minutes until the server greet us. Food served in timely manner, we didnt wait long for the food. The pad thai always my favorite. Everything else was just okay this time. We asked for chopstick, had to wait another 5 minutes with the guy at the front never come back with it. So i had to walk to the front to get them myself. Server rarely check on us. They have mean look on their faces. Going to buy togo next time around. Even if the food is good, it wont taste good if you get bad service

This is definitely one of my favorite Thai places in Austin. We always get the Thai pepper fried rice –its amazing, though pretty spicy. I dream about P41! Thick coconut curry with beef and lots of flavor(from the special menu). Magrood is in most of their dishes n i just can’t get over how good it makes everything taste! Another time we tried a special pork ribs soup which was really greasy but absolutely delicious(not on their online menus) .Not the greatest fan of the fish cakes appetizer. But this is one of those few places where we find it difficult not to order what we always order and try something new. Just because we keep reminiscing how good it was the last time :) Portion sizes are pretty big and we almost always bring some back home. The coconut curry based dishes especially taste even better after a day or two!

Green curry tofu, large portion. Relaxing atmosphere. 11:33 am an barely half full. Serve curry in bowl and large plate of rice on the side. Menu has tons of options, I just stuck with my normal Thai order. Cheap! Curry and Thai tea for $ 11.37. Place pretty full by 12:15

It has taken me a few months for my stomach to not lurch when I speak of this place. I should have listened to my husband when he said the place seemed dirty. We braved past the sticky menus and tables and ordered. He felt that the service was lacking and I assured him it was going to be great – after all, it had great reviews on Unilocal! Oh I mourn the moment I said, «no, let’s stay». The food arrived. Mine was very spicy, but that was okay. My husband thought his was good. Until… As I scooped up some noodles, to my horror, there WAS A FLY. Yes, A FLYINTHEFOOD I HADALREADYEATENFROM. My stomach lurched, I felt queasy. We hurried the waiter over to out table and showed him THEFLY. He called someone else over and she looked at THEFLY. They said nothing about it!!! I told them I was leaving and not going to pay. They said nothing. We left. I will not ever go back. You shouldn’t either.

Get the Gury Beef #42 is soooo good. Little spicy but I get it once a week here. :). Menu is w WAYWAY too big. It can be very confusing. I admit I try few things here because of too many options. But I have enjoyed what I have ordered. Food can take a bit to prepare during lunch but I bet it would be faster if the chef had fewer things to cook. I think the menu is 8 – 9 pages. Too many things. Suggest best sellers perhaps?

The food is consistently delicious, even though their menu is very large. The beef masaman, beef noodle soup(NS1) and omelette soup are some of the best we’ve ever had. Their drunken noodles were also good, but not amazing. They also have brown rice, which is a big plus.

Really enjoyed the Thai here. I had the udon something something with chicken. The broth was tasty though slightly too much basil. I also sampled the Thai pepper fried rice that had great spice too it and wasn’t greasy. The pad Thai looked delicious and look forward to sampling on my next trip.

I’ve been a long time fan of Saps, even when it was still Madam Mam’s. The environment is great with lots of seatings for larger parties, food’s always on point, and service is good. Tip: I love spicy foods, but their #2 chili pepper(out of 5 chili peppers) is extremely hot! I can eat jalapenos straight, but Sap’s peppers are in a much stronger category!

I have recently been on a kick to find the best pad Thai in town. Actually when I was in Seattle last spring I had some that was out of this world and I have been trying to find something similar to it here in Austin … I did not find it here. I went in here by myself for lunch one day last week. I ordered a Thai tea because I am obsessed with their deliciousness and can not seem to get enough of that sweet goodness in my body. Then I ordered the chicken pad Thai. When I got my food I was not impressed with the presentation of it on the plate. It was just on there and nothing special. I immediately noticed that the pad Thai was much more red than I am used to. I have learned now that this is more traditional and it means there is more tamarind paste in it. I did not care for this traditional flavor. It was ok just not out of this world. The atmosphere was cute and comfortable. I loved the umbrellas on the ceiling. I want to go back and try more of the menu and not alone so we can DO the menu up(order a bunch of food).
