Definitely some service and management issues as others have pointed out. Not crowded so a little hard to understand what the issues were. Enjoyed the food — biscuits, dates, fish tacos, popcorn, kimchi frito pie and wings. Continually had an empty glass of water, finally went to the bar to get my own refill. Had to ask for plates. Red wine was served too warm and in a dirty glass. To the waiters credit he noticed the dirty glass however, it was after he had poured wine in it. Instead of replacing the wine with fresh wine in a clean glass he took the wine in the dirty glass and poured it in to a clean glass. Also did not have us taste the wine before pouring two full glasses(one of which was in the dirty glass). It was next to impossible to get anyone to stop by the table. And there was someone who appeared to be the manager but clearly seemed to lack the experience to handle a restaurant. Went to the ladies room and a staff person was in front of mirror of an otherwise empty restroom. I noticed rolls of toilet paper across the floors of the stalls and the first one I went in to was completely out. Did she not see the toilet paper all over the floor? Clearly the staff doesn’t feel it is their responsibility to take care of this or mention it to someone who can clean it up and stock the place(early evening by the way around 7:30pm) — it’s not like it was late and closing time. Not sure if we’ll go back. Luckily the food was good but the poor management and service is pretty much a deal breaker in my book.

Food is ok, but the service is terrible. Seemed to be two waiters for the 15 tables beyond the bar including two 10+ size parties. To the waiter’s defense it seems more like an operational issue. One bartender noted at 730 on a Saturday night. Drinks took 15 minutes to come out and the appetizer took 5. Good luck and be patient

Made a last minute decision to come here and was able to snag a last minute open table reservation. However upon around at 8:15 pm, we realized we did not need a reservation. It was not busy at all. Service: We were promptly seated and served water. The server was very attentive and provided great service the entire night. Food: We could not decide on the appetizers and took the servers recommendation to order the biscuits and andouille sausage corn pups. Very delicious. We decided to split the Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries and a side of mexican street corn. Greatly appreciated that they split the plates for us. The portion was hugh. I could not imagine eating the whole sandwich on my own. It was a little too battered but was nicely flavored. I ended up picking off half the battered skin. The sandwich got spicier with each bite. The mexican street corn was nicely flavored and seasoned. I recommend this place and would definitely come back.

I can’t imagine a better place to grab a beer and some comfort food in downtown Austin. Two musts if you visit: creole corn pups and a side of their dirty rice. I could imagine myself getting a double order of both and calling it a meal. We also enjoyed the blackened fish and Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The service was also spot on. I can’t wait to come back and try their burger!

Stopped in on a self directed bar crawl across Austin. They had great service and an excellent drink selection. Happy hour is a great deal and with a location near the convention center I can see this place doing well. They also have a pretty nice patio with a few games. The food was so-so based on the two items we ordered but I would still recommend Revival.

I meandered into this establishment on the last day of camping at Pace Bend. We tried getting in at other places but to no avail. We got shafted with 1.5 hour wait times. I’m not about that life. So I took to the Unilocal-verse. We had no wait and the place was pretty open, surprisingly. My gal and I took to the brunch menu, but first needed that thirst taken care of. I’m not normally a Bloody Mary kinda guy, but I decided to give it a shot. It was good! The spice… oh the spice… the gal went with mimosa. We both ordered and split. I went with the Pork Carnita Crostada. Let’s take a moment to break this down. It’s like a tortilla breakfast pizza. It’s piled with your favorite breakfast foods, and pork. In addition there is a fried egg lurking below the surface of the toppings. Once stabbed, it bleeds golden greatness. The gal went with Texas Breakfast Sandwich. It has your basic breakfast food, with some thick cuts of bacon(aka fried pig nectar), and another fried egg that bleeds awesome into the rest of the mix. It comes with a side of breakfast potatoes that is seasoned very well. The facility was very clean and open. Ambience was sociable, and relaxed. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. Drinks were cheap, food was mid priced. Location was good. Definitely a good spot for a no hassle brunch in the Capitol.

Should have paid attention to the latest reviews on Unilocal rather than going with the overall reviews. The restaurant was horribly understaffed for a Friday night and our server was obviously overwhelmed. I was poured a very heady beer which never really«settled,» Resulting in less than the full pint I paid for. We had to ask twice for water as well. Also, the atmosphere is very loud, hard to hear my hubby across the table. The menu also needs to be streamlined as they seem to have a bit of an identity crisis going on. Is it a beer bar? A tex-mex place? A BBQ joint? Or a spot for southern comfort food? With a focus on one of the above, they could really knock it out off the park. Unfortunately Revival misses on all counts, except for the beer menu, which features almost entirely Texas drafts. Hubby ordered the half rack of ribs. While they had a tasty flavor, they were a bit uncooked and therefore tough. I’ve never seen him fight to get the meat off the bones before like he had to tonight. His sides of Mexican street corn and Mac and cheese were average. The Mac and cheese had great flavor as well. Unfortunately penne pasta isn’t the right vehicle for the yummy sauce as it was left laying at the bottom of the bowl. My fish tacos were well cooked. Even though the mahi was grilled it had a nice crunch. However, the accompanying sauces/dressings of chimmichuri, pico, pickled slaw and crema were too contradictory. The strong Flavors battled and wiped out any taste from the fish. Was hoping for so much more and left not Wanting to ever return.

We are from out of town and saw the menu online. We were greeted by an unenthusiastic hostess and her lack of hospitality was noticeable immediately.(Later, we figured out she was the bartender). Our waitress took a while to greet us, but brought waters to drop off so we were ok while we waited for her. The food was delicious and worth the price point. I had the salmon, mac and cheese, and kale. The salmon was some of the best I’ve had and the mac and cheese was the real star of the show. The kale was basic, but tasted good. My husband ordered the ribs, mac and cheese, and potatoes. He enjoyed the ribs and the Mac and cheese. The potatoes were delicious minus that they sat in an inch of oil. The reason I gave three stars is because the service was terrible. Our server looked like she was the only one in the restaurant besides the bartender and a manager. It started to get busier and she couldn’t manage the tables. We asked for a ketchup we never received and our water was empty three separate times. We weren’t mad since it seemed like a scheduling issue and not her error, but it did take away from a good overall experience. I looked around and it seemed like other patrons were in the same situation. A guy came in a seated himself because no one was at the door to greet him. This place has potential, they just need more staff.

First night in Austin and chose to eat here for dinner. When I entered the business I was greeted and I asked if I could eat at the bar. The gentleman told me sure, just sit anywhere. I sat down and started watching the Sharks game. There were only three other people at the bar. 14 minutes later I was still sitting at the bar watching the game and the bar tender talking to a waitress. Got up and left. Sorry, no food rating on this one.

I usually don’t like giving out 1 stars because you know, general principle, but I have no qualms in this particular case. I was with a trio and we were quickly sat outside, which is great. There seemed to be a big function in the back of the restaurant which we were well-aware of and understood. I’ve also been in the service industry so I know how stressful things get when there are main events being hosted. We sat outside because of the event indoors and our server looked so miserable from whatever she did the night before. I couldn’t believe she didn’t just call in, but who gives? Other tables were seated upwards of 20 minutes later than us and they were still served their food(by a different server). We were cranky and we wanted answers but we couldn’t locate our server in any capacity. I figured our food was delayed because the whole staff was accommodating the big party indoors but they all started leaving, which meant they had been served long ago. When the food came out, I was less than thrilled as the eggs looked like they were perhaps cooked in a dirty pan. I mean, my poor/sad/gross looking scrambled eggs looked like they contained mushrooms or other dark substances that were clearly not supposed to be in the mix because of the gray/brown parts conglomerated on my plate. The bacon looked absolutely artificial and guys, I’m by no means a snob when it comes to food. I happen to think that breakfast items are some of the simpler foods to prepare especially when they are easy basics i.e. scrambled eggs and bacon. I wasn’t in a position to say anything because our server was apparently abducted by aliens in broad daylight. She did come around for a hot second to «check on things» and her only comment to my untouched plate was, «Oh, are you not hungry?» before immediately walking away. My friend had to walk inside to order a drink at the bar. Absolutely not acceptable. I was embarrassed because I was with an out-of-towner who had never been to Austin, and two others who generally trust my choice in restaurants that are made possible through other Unilocal reviews. Unilocalers, you really missed with this one. Honestly, there are so many good restaurants in the area – I’m not sure what made us choose this particular place but I will not be returning nor will I be making recommendations for others to visit.

Not impressed. They position themselves as upscale southern cuisine. Great concept and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. Unfortunately that’s the only positive. We came for brunch and there was only one other table in the entire restaurant. My girlfriend’s food came out 5 minutes before my pancakes. They forgot the appetizer of biscuits altogether. After inquiring they did admit they forgot them and comped them so that was nice. But how can you not time 2 dishes in an empty restaurant? I noticed the same thing happened to the other table in there. The pancakes, biscuits n gravy, and breakfast tacos were pretty crappy. The fried were actually pretty good though. They had an onion flavor to them that was similar to a hush puppy. I think they have a bush puppy thing on the menu as well which is probably where the flavor came from. Also upon being seated and served water both of our glasses were dirty with stuff stuck to them. There was a slightly foul smell in the back area of the restaurant as well. Like sewer. Sorry to rail on them but it’s all accurate. Anyways, very unimpressed. I really wanted to like this place because of the concept and appearance. I guess this is why it was deserted though.

I stopped here with a friend before an Alamo show on Thursday night — the place, the entire street, was a ghost town. We walked in and there was only one other table seated. We opted for the bar, as we just wanted snacks and drinks. The barback/bartender(delightful gal) was my hero that night. I didn’t see anything on the cocktail list that stood out, but noticed they had St. Germaine. When I described my usual go to she simply stated«I got you». And boy did she! Strawberry muddle, champagne, vodka, and St. Germaine. Perfect! And she even brought me the left over bit that didn’t make it in to the flute. We ordered the biscuits, brussel sprouts, and mac and cheese(side). Not too shabby. The biscuits were good; just a bit sweet and served with options of honey butter, pimento cheese, and bacon jam. Warm and delicious with the pimento. Mac and cheese was pretty straightforward, and met the craving. Not sure it convinces me to order the full $ 17 portion. The brussel sprouts were bright, tangy, and easy to shove in your mouth. I would definitely return if in the area. It was a quite night, but the service and the food & drink was good and this will hopefully be a upscale casual Happy Hour spot for the area. Plus, they have a pretty comfy looking patio area with couches and chairs. Great for cocktail afternoons.

What to say about this place??? It was interesting. I’ll start with the food because that’s what’s most important. It wasn’t bad, but it felt like some of the items could have been better. Here’s what my party ordered and what we(there were 7 of us) thought of each item… Parmesan Truffle Fries — pretty great! Fried Pickled Zucchini Chips — OK, too thin and had a slightly weird flavor Bacon Wrapped Dates — OK, but not exciting; this is usually something amazing at other places Kimchi Frito Pie — others said it was great, I didn’t try it BBQ Pork Sandwich — Good. Nothing I’d rush to have again Siracha Maple Sweet Potato Purée — bland Piggy Popcorn — no bacon flavor, just mediocre caramel popcorn Roasted Chicken — good Macaroni and Cheese — good Lemon Drop Martini — good! Margarita — very good! Peach Mojito — OK Buttermilk Pie — BLAND So, all in all, I wouldn’t go back for the food. The atmosphere was nice — pretty, modern décor. The service was attentive. Our server was VERY enthusiastic and claimed everything on the menu was amazing. We quickly learned we couldn’t trust his opinions. But he was nice and a good server. This place wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t necessarily go back.

We were looking for somewhere that had happy hour on a Saturday and I stumbled upon Revival Public House on Unilocal. When we walked up I noticed that it was in the same spot where Crave used to be. It’s a pretty large space and it was quite empty inside at 5pm on a Friday. I think we were one of two other couples in the restaurant. The bar was completely empty, so we had a seat there. What really enticed us to visit Revival in the first place was that a.) they had Happy Hour on Saturday and b.) their menu said $ 3 taps, well drinks, and wine. When I asked for the wine list, the bartender told us that the only wines on happy hour were their house white and house red. They should probably specify this on the menu. However, if you’re a beer drinker, they’ve got plenty of craft beers on tap, so $ 3 is a steal for some of them. For food we ordered the biscuits, which came with honey butter, bacon jam, and pimento cheese. All three spreads were fantastic. I ordered the Kimchi Frito Pie and it also was really delicious. Good size too. They used beef short rib instead of the standard ground beef/chili and it had some sort of glaze on it that really set it apart from other Frito pies. It was also topped with spicy mayo, and I mean, who doesn’t love spicy mayo. Boyfriend ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, which is an open faced sandwich served with fries. When they say hot, they mean hot. It was super spicy, but the breading was nice and crispy. I’ll also add that our food came out really fast. Kind of expected when you’re the only ones in the restaurant, but still. We ordered the mini milkshake and chocolate chip, bacon, caramel cookies. They were good, but the cookies were a little tough for my taste.

My husband and I came before it was Revival. It used to be Crave. The first thing I noticed at Revival was the terrible service. I think my husband and I stared at each other before a woman gave us menus. Then we stared at each other some more before we actually got to order. It was a man who finally helped us. This lack of service was the same issue we had at Crave when we got the unlimited prime rib dinner. Our prime ribs were sitting on the counter for about 20 minutes before the server brought it to us. She was too busy chatting with her buddies. For food and drinks: I ordered the corn dogs, both of the EastCiders ciders, and kim chi frito pie for appetizers. We ordered the ribs for dinner and shared. The dogs were just corn dogs, nothing special. The kim chi frito pie was pretty good. The ribs had no flavor and took a long time to arrive. Along with the ribs, i got the sweet potato purée and brussel sprouts. The sprouts were fresh and good. The purée was a bit too buttery because that’s all I tasted. The two beers from EastCiders were great though! In general, we won’t be coming back. Their grand opening party was good but it required no service.

I wen there based on the high Unilocal reviews. I was a little disappointed. It was average and only average. Let us start with the food. The truffle fries were nothing exciting. In fact, I did not really care for them. Minimal flavor. I had the tuna entrée. Again, it was cooked rare as I requested, but there was nothing special about it. The garnish was a tad on the spicy side. The brussel sprout side were just like any other brussel sprout side. The corn side was blah. My friend had the redfish. i stole a piece. This was the best thing there. it was light and flavorful. Kudos on this one. The mac and cheese appetizer was also bland. I had the sundae for desert. the brownie tasted like pure sugar. Too much for me. They do have a nice beer selection. Lots of good choices and many of them from Texas. We sat at the bar and our server was helpful and pleasant. The ambiance was upscale pub. Basically, this one of many ‘upscale gastropubs.’ If you are in town for a convention, go for it as it is close. It is decent enough in a pinch, but there is nothing to differentiate it from the other gastropubs in town. If you live in Austin, you have better choices

Awesome place!!! Went here to celebrate a friends party and couldn’t have been better. When all the other restaurants dt were full and seating was over an hour this place sat us right away and got a table ready. The hostess was super friendly and helpful, always smiling. Lots of room and very relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful bar also. Our waitress Erica was super upbeat, friendly, and made the experience better. We had trouble deciding on a beer and she was very helpful and picked one to try for us. Appetizers were the bomb(dates, Parmesan fries, fried pickles, and warm biscuits), and came out fast. Loved this place, great experience, and will definitely come back.

If you are looking for a restaurant with great food and even better Austin/Texas beers, this is your place. My wife and I came in because we loved Crave(the former restaurant) and decided to try the new Revival Public House. First off, we loved the new look. It felt warmer, like a modern take of a old town pub. Everyone was very nice and made us feel welcomed. We brought our 9 month boy and before we could ask, we had a high chair at our table. We were also very impressed with our waiter Zach. From the start he started telling us about all the different beers they have on tap. It was cold and rainy and we asked for a few suggestions. He suggested two and brought us a sample of each. Bother were amazing, but we both decided on the stout. This was the first of several beer suggestions that worked out awesomely. It took a bit of explaining to really understand the new menu, but it made a lot of sense after Zach explained the concept. We started with the Gulf Red Fish Tacos which were really tasty. Both yummy and refreshing. We also had Parmesan Truffle Fries, I literally had to eat those as fast as I could before my wife could eat them all. Even my son enjoyed the fries. I can see this being a crowd favorite. For dinner we decide to go big. I got the Char Grilled Bistro Steak and my wife got the Blackened Saku Tuna Steak. We couldn’t decide which we loved more. Both were amazing. The bartender Teresa gave us some great suggestions on a white wine that went so well with the Tuna. All in all, we will be coming back a lot. One of the best restaurants in Austin!

Decided to have a dinner with friends at Revival last night. We ended up ordering a good portion of the menu and then sharing it between everyone, because honestly everything sounded so good. We snacked our way through the small plates, and then ordered dinner as well. We were not disappointed! My personal top three favorites of the night were the 737 burger, the Kimchi Frito Pie and the Bistro Steak. Other stand outs were the Nashville Hot Chicken(spot on!), Biscuits w/bacon jam & pimento cheese and the Truffle Fries. Happy Hour is an incredible deal. $ 3 taps and well drinks. And their selection of beers is incredible. Sadly missed taking pics of all the small plates, but took photos of the main dishes that everyone ordered at the table. All were outstanding. Definitely will be returning when I’m in the downtown area.
