Disappointing to say the least. Way way over priced. The 1980s décor is terrible. 15 $ for a glass of wine. Some«hospitality» in the hospitality business. We got in late. Had no other choice. They know that. Chicken and potatoes 17 $. Way overpriced… Did I mention it was a huge disappointment?

We first went to The Onion on our anniversary and had a VERY bad experience, I contacted the manager and he invited us back on our own time, we went in did not say a word until after we got the bill that we were being taken care of(via letter in hand) by the manager … It was GREAT! the service was what you expect from anything connected to an Omni hotel and the food was wonderful. I do wish they had a better selection(hence the 4 not 5 stars) but all and all a great experience!

This restaurant is in the Omni hotel at Southpark. We visited this spot, despite the not-so-great Unilocal reviews. The service was good. They have some local beers, but not on draft. They offered warm bread with oil/seasoning/parm cheese blend that was yummy. Our server also brought us complimentary bites to try: bacon wrapped dates with a balsamic drizzle. Delicious. Hubs had the slider trio app with fries and I had chicken spinach salad with pecans, strawberries and goat cheese. No complaints all around. Great service, convenient, and good food.

I heard there was a restaurant across the street in the Omni. Sweet, a decent hotel will have a decent place to eat. It was empty, I asked if open. Scary vibe. Ordered scallops, 3 for $ 23. Cooked fine, but sauce underwhelmed. Overall, won’t be back, will Über to some local fare.

Very little service. Took over an hour to get food. No bread offered for the table. Food not cooked to order. Burger was medium with pink all the way through, but was ordered medium well. Very limited menu. There were only 3 in the party and one order was for a spinach salad. The restaurant was less than half full. If you have time to waste and you are not hungry, this is your place for dinner.

Amazing pasta bar! The pasta is made to your specifications. Variety of meat, veggies, pasta and pasta sauce to choose from. I love their spinach pasta, marinara and pesto sauce combination. Hot and fresh bread sticks are served as well and plus everything is All-you-can-eat! The ambience and staff is nice too :) visited this place twice and had good experience both times.

My review is solely for the Pasta Bar, as that’s the only time I’ve eaten there. I like the place personally, Pasta is one of my favorite dishes and it’s awesome that you can build your own plate from a big array of choices. Want to go with a lot of meats and red sauce? Sure. I’m more of a seafood and white sauce kind of guy. Along with the vast array of vegetables and meats, you pick from one of about 6 sauces and maybe 5 pastas. On the sauce side there’s your typical marinara and Alfredo, but also pesto/dill, Cajun, pomodoro and something else. For pasta I think you can have spaghetti, fettuccine, farfalle, rotini, spinach fettuccine. With the buffet you get bread sticks which are OK. For an extra charge, you can add the salad bar, soup, and assorted fruits and bruschetta. Dislikes: They don’t sautee your food long enough in my opinion. You get more flavor if the meat and vegetables get a little caramelization. The other is that soft drinks are very expensive. Overall a decent place if you want to get a heaping mound of carbohydrates, vegetables and meat covered by a sinful sauce every once in a while.

The food was decent but the service was horrible and down right racist. I was given my check with my meal and never asked how my food was or for a refill but was asked how I would like to pay. I hadn’t even finished ¼ of my meal when asked this. The manager was apologetic and said it was customary but I’m not so sure.

If you are staying at the Omni Hotel or nearby, this is a good experience. Personally, of you are visiting Austin and you haven’t been here before, find some BBQ or Mexican and live music. Get out there! You can do it! If you are a business traveler like me and want something more upscale than fast food, you will be satisfied here. My server Adam gave the perfect amount of attentiveness. I was seated quickly, no wait. Lots of open tables. The bread comes with a wonderful light olive oil over a base of Parmesan and Italian herbs. Perfecto! I had the mushroom ravioli. Great combo of exotic mushrooms but the base sauce was… well…odd. It was not a cream sauce at all as I pictured. Very thin not creamy. Not bad, but I couldn’t place it. The two bad things on the experience were the incredibly slow bar service and the noisy party that was going on in a room nearby. I recommend this restaurant if you are not looking to really take in the local scene.

Pretty gross place. Visiting Austin for a wedding and then got stuck overnight here bc of a medical emergency and checked into the Omni hotel, which this place is connected to. They served good hot bread with the food(bread was good, weird dip that came with was not). Lame choices(house salad) for vegans or vegetarians. Coffee was disgusting. Green tea wasn’t very good either.

I had a bad feeling about this restaurant but since it was so cold and I did not wanna go outside, I decided to eat within the hotel. They have limited menu and I had a hard time finding what I actually wanna eat. I was in the mood for pasta so I decided to order the only pasta dish they had on the menu: mushroom ravioli. Then server told me they were out of mushroom so instead it was going to be lobster ravioli. That was no problem to me. They gave me a basket of bread with a cinnamon butter… cinnamon butter? Really? I was so hungry and I was not in the mood for something sweet… I wish it was garlic butter or just regular butter. My meal came out pretty quickly. So they ran out of mushroom ravioli and changed to lobster ravioli but they never cared to change the sauce… my lobster ravioli came in pesto sauce. And to answer what most people would wonder, they do not go well together. They even put sauteed vegetable on top of the pasta and that did not go well at all either. It was edible but below average. I can make pasta way better than they did. I overheard a guy who sat next to my table saying he did not like his entrée either. Whoever the chef works at this restaurant clearly has no idea what the heck he is doing. P. S. The service I got here was good. The waiter was very polite and prompt.

This restaurant was a horrible experience. I ate here while staying at the omni hoping for a good convenient breakfast. The buffet was disorganized and I only settled for it because the server dropped off a menu and then disappeared for 30 minutes. Everything tasted old. They had strange looking cereal options and dense gelatinous oatmeal without even having bowls to put them in. The fruit section consisted of a plate of sliced melon and pineapple. When we finally got our check the server took off again and didn’t leave us with a pen to fill it out. Eventually we asked the hostess for one but she seemed incredibly inconvenienced by it. Overall terrible food and an even worse experience.

Great meal. All you can eat made to order pasta. My little man was all over it. He was just so happy. Everyone was so nice in there. It was just wonderful to see my son so happy.

Went here for Easter brunch on April 24, 2011. Food was decent standard brunch fare with lots of variety, but nothing truly outstanding. Was very shocked and disappointed when the bill came. There was two in our party and they added an automatic 18% to the total for a «large party surcharge». Absolutely infuriating when you consider that obviously two people does not constitute a large party AND at a brunch you go get your own food. Otherwise, we saw the waiter less than a handful of times for water refills. The kicker was that I checked my bank statement online and the amount authorized on my debit card was a full $ 19 more than than I signed for on the charge slip. One star for arrogance and dishonesty at the Onion Creek Grille.

I am regular at Omni’s so I guess maybe I am unfairly rating this restaurant compared to others attached to Omni’s, I came to this Omni for a weekend alone time away from kids, husband, stress. The hotel itself was ok but the restaurant is extremely lacking compared to other hotel restaurants. I had the breakfast buffet which at other Omni’s just blows me away. Here… not much of a selection, restaurant seemed run down, waitstaff not too great. Food was average at best. Go to Omni Las Colinas or even San Antonio Colonnade for a great breakfast and superb service.

I’ve eaten at the Onion Creek Grille a few times because I’ve stayed at nearby hotels when I’m in town, and it’s really convenient. Also, it NEVER seems to be crowded — even on a Saturday night, you can walk right in and be seated. They must get busy sometime in order to stay open but I can’t figure out when. Maybe they do most of their business catering for events in the hotel or something. On to the food. The menu has been different every time I’ve been, which is slightly annoying when you find something that you like and the next time you go, it’s gone. But most of what I’ve eaten has been ok… not amazing, but just fine. The first time I went, I had a veggie pasta that was too salty but otherwise good. They used to have a really yummy mozzarella and tomato appetizer that I wanted to order this last time around, but alas, it’s no longer on the menu. This time around I ordered the quesadilla sans chicken… meaning it was just a cheese quesadilla. It was pretty good but the tortilla could have been crunchier. Service is pretty good. Overall I can’t complain too much. Next time I’m in town and I am hungry I’ll go back, knowing I’ll be able to sit without having to wait!

I stayed at the Omni during SXSW and my friend Jason could not stop raving about the pasta bar. Apparently he frequented the place when he worked at the nearby AMD office. Pros: Pasta was delicious. I felt a little fiesty so I got the pesto and cajun sauces mixed together. It was a risky choice but ended well in the end. Full range of meats and vegetables with 4 – 5 choices of sauce. Cons: SERVICEBLOWS! I walked in there with my suitcase after checking out, clearly looking like I have a flight to catch at some point. They sat me at a table, with the restaurant practically empty, and left me there. I sat there for a good 10 – 15 minutes with no one coming by to ask me what I wanted to drink or to take my order. I finally got up and asked the hostess if I just get my own food at the pasta bar, even though there was a full menu to choose from as well. I order my pasta and sit back down. Still nothing to drink. Finally I flag someone down to get the check and I leave for the airport perplexed by the whole experience. Basically, there was no service. Thank god it was a self-serving pasta bar or else I would have gone starving.

I’ve only been here for lunch so all I know is the pasta buffet they have. This restaurant is located inside of the Omni hotel at Ben White and I-35. You have several pastas to pick from and you can add whatever sauce and toppings you want onto your pasta. They give you a pretty hearty portion that you probably won’t be able to finish, let alone go back to the buffet for more. I think I spent about $ 11 bucks, but for the amount of food they give you, I think it’s worth it.
