Good place to dine in and take out not authentic Indian place but ok. Hakka noddles are good chicken lollipops are just like American wings not so good. Biryani is ok.

Went to the Tech Ridge location this weekend. Looks very average on the outside. When I entered, I was surprised at the amount of people dining. This was a good sign of a successful restaurant. The counter help advised me well, I ordered the KORMAMASALA. It was devine. I can’t wait to go back and try the Asian(Oriental) food this time. My only complaint is that I would have strongly preferred easy listening background music as opposed to the jarring music they had. UPDATE: I was so impressed with my Indian dish I went back for Oriental take-out. The Oriental dish was very bland and the container was too small. Better to eat it there and get the full size portion.

Amazing fried rice bowl with chicken and stir fry veggies. Huge portions, more than enough to share. We weren’t expecting great things from this place — I mean, it’s a chain restaurant in a shopping center, so we were thinking quick and easy lunch not super good food. We’ve been looking for a good Chinese place in Austin for years and years, my favorite place in San Antonio is a family-owned Szechuan Chinese that has been in the same location for 35 years — they are GOOD. Masala Wok won’t replace Lung Fung in SA as my favorite but it’s the best we’ve found yet in Austin — and we’ve tried a BUNCH based off Unilocal reviews.

I live closer to the other location in the Arbor walk, but I work closer to this one. I like this location for it’s parking, not as many speed bumps to go through. There is up front parking at this location too if you are lucky enough to get that spot. The owner always seems to be at whichever location I go to, I’m starting to think he is a twin haha. But anyways, the service is always great and the food is always spot on, I never have an issue here. I love the food, it’s always to order and delicious. I always get the Butter Chicken Masala and it’s delicious every time. The nann has it’s up and downs, I’ve decided that it never tastes as good togo, it gets all soggy and not as fluffy and nice when you eat there. The best thing ever is the chicken quesadilla, sounds crazy, but it really is amazing, just try it once you won’t be disappointed. They have a frequent member program that just uses your number, it’s a pretty good deal. I would say that if you like it definitely sign up for it. It can get busy at this location during lunch hours so be aware.

This place… oh wow, where should I start? At first glance it appears to be some run of the mill food chain. neat, clean, bland food. Talk about looks being deceiving! The smells coming out of this place on the daily are so mouth watering so I finally decided to follow my nose. Friendly, helpful staff… asked the right questions which helped me decide on what I had a taste for. settled with my favorite flavor & sensation… SPICY! So the cashier dude recommended the vindaloo. I got that w/chicken .you have a choice of basmati rice or brown. I went w/the fragrant rice of course! And got some garlicky naan bread that was heaven… do you hear me? Heaven. Annnnd it’s in close proximity to me so you bet your bottom dolla I’ll be back!

Masala Wok is great for a quick and tasty meal. We ordered take out tonight and it didn’t disappoint. Yes, yes, I realize there are a zillion Indian restaurants that are better, but not for fast and friendly take out service. Our meals were packaged nicely, but not marked. The malai kofta and curry lamb were the same color! Since the koftas weren’t balls and I’m not sure what lamb looks like, I was afraid to try it. Matt quickly figured out which was the lamb so I didn’t have to accidentally eat a cute nursery rhyme animal. The koftas were strangely shaped, like thumbs not balls, but were flavorful. I ordered the malai kofta extra spicy and it definitely had a kick. The gravy was little oily, but yummy. This has long been my go to comfort meal and boy did it comfort. I’m so glad I have half the meal left for breakfast tomorrow. The rice was okay. Not outstanding on its own, but great to mix with the spicy gravy. The nan was blah. It was a little tough rather than soft and pillowy. Samosas were crunchy in the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. Paired with the chutney, it’s always a winner. Matt had no complaints. He said his was«real good.» That’s about all I could get out of him. Masala Wok definitely stays on my list of go to places.

My recommendations: Manchau soup and Chicken fried rice. Really yum! This place is open somewhat late(till 10 pm) and is definitely a good fix if you are craving some late night Indo-chinese munchies. So far I have been twice and it has been ok thus far. The last time we went, we arrived at 9:35pm and I do not think the staff was happy to see a family of 4 coming in so close to 10pm. I would understand their discontent if we were to walk in at 9:55pm, but oh well. I think they are worth a shot, so we will be visiting them again.

Masala wok was pretty cool a few years ago. Now Austin has several good Indian restaurants cropping up and the oldies can’t keep up. I recently retried this place after about 2 years. The food was exactly the same like few years ago. Awful. I regret wasting my Saturday night dinner at this place. We went at 9.30 and place was empty. You know If you’ve followed my reviews that I don’t respect Indian restaurants with a mild medium hot option. That’s a big cop out. We ordered the Manchow soup, paneer butter masala, mango lassi, veggie manchurian and blazing noodles. Manchow and manchurian had like big chunks of undercooked ginger. Although I appreciate the medicinal value, didn’t expect that in my dish. Everything was just ok, no umami of taste. I couldn’t even finish the nan and paneer butter masala. The mango lassi is always a joke, no mango, only essence and lots of sugar. Paneer was obviously frozen and curry just had lots of cream and oil. The service was pretty sad. There was no owner it manager, the hourly employees were checked out, busy gossiping, they even shut down the tv while we we eating and started cleaning all around us. I think they are still in business due to some decent chicken dishes and a good location for the Parmer lunch crowd. Wonder how long that’ll last with some really good restaurants coming up in this area?

This place is ah-may-zing! Ordered the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma masala with basmati rice and naan. They were both extremely delicious. Service was quick and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Ambience was great, there is even a small side patio for outdoor eating!

I guess the owner or cooks changed since this place was like a 5 star place for me about 3 years ago. I moved back and now the food does not taste like it did for me about 3 years ago. Chicken Tika masala tasted like a tomato bisque and the nan seem like it was store bought. Nothing I tried was the same. Unfortunately I will not go back.

I really like Masala Wok. A very nice woman owns the 2 franchises here in Austin at Arbor Walk and Tech Ridge. She is as friendly and helpful as can be. The concept is similar to a Pei Wei, but for Indian & Chinese food. Pick your sauce, pick your protein, pick your rice, pick your level of spice. Fresh, flavorful, friendly. I have enjoyed pretty much every dish I have had. The butter masala is not exactly healthy, but warm and delicious and perfect for a cold day. Lamb vindaloo, also great. Korma and Tikka Masala, yep!

Judge all you like, you connoisseurs of fine food. I like masala wok and I cannot lie. I’ve been here around 50 times. I’m not joking. I’ve always come back very satisfied, except for the rare occasion. Indian fusion is a very diverse range of flavors, and Indo Chinese is definitely one of the most popular. There’s just a few dishes that hit the spot, and I’m here to talk about them. 1) malai kofta — creamy gravy, just enough spice and always served with rice /naan(garlic /roti/regular). The koftas can be a little small and have more potatoes than paneer, but they’re still very tasty. 2) Thai basil fried rice with vegetables– well balanced, well sautéed, and goes well with a lot of indian entrees. 3) mughalai(paneer/veggies). The best dish, by far. Creamy, wholesome and beautifully crafted flavors. Naturally spicy — don’t order the extra spicy if you’re not a chilly eating contestant !! Also come with the rice and naan. 4) paneer wrap– nothing like chunky paneer tossed with spices in a deep fried wrap. CAse closed. I love the reward points, for every 75, I get $ 10 off my meal!!! The décor is ok — what you’d expect from a fast food indian place. The owners are really nice — and they make excellent recommendations. Listen to them, and you will not be disappointed. My little one and husband both love this place — they eat in silence — which gives me time to lick my food shamelessly off the bowl. Yea, I’m that person. Make this your lunch spot. Believe me when I say, you will definitely like it.

The Tika salad with mango dressing was huge and very tasty, lots of fresh greens and big hunks of grilled chicken, the mango sauce was recommended by the lady that took our order… I asked her what she would put on it if she was ordering… smart move on my part… «i can’t believe I ate the whole thing» is not just a flashback to an old alka seltzer commercial, i really did polish it off, they won’t even have to wash the bowl. My wife loved her bowl of corn soup, most places have lots of broth and a little corn and other veggies, this place is the opposite, you can eat most of this delectable soup with a fork

In my culinary brainspace, there’s two types of Indian food — the kind you sit down and plunk a wad of cash for on special occasions(lovingly referred to as Teji’s) and then the kind you run in and grab for dinner when it’s 8pm and you don’t feel like driving to Round Rock after a long day at work or in the field. Masala Wok is clearly the latter, but with the bonus of Indo-Chinese cuisine, so whether you want lamb curry or gobi manchuria you can’t really go wrong. The ambience is definitely quick-service formica so you’re not going to come here for the suit-and-salwar-kameez experience, but I’ve never been steered wrong by the folks here. For reasonably fast and shockingly affordable Indian and Indo-Chinese food, there’s really two places I go, and since the other place doesn’t know how to tune down spice for my gringo missus, this is our current best option of Indian takeout. I would like to give props to the management, as they kept the takeout window going(and efficiently so) even during the hosting of a very large private meeting of businessfolk at the franchise. Shukria and namaste, y’all.

You know you’re doing something right as a business when you can get my «I don’t eat Asian food» husband to eat Asian food. In fact, he actually SUGGESTS Masala Wok for dinner on occasion. Mind. Blown. Masala Wok is pretty tasty and has a variety of Asian and Indian meals to choose from. So far we’ve tried different noodle bowls and fried rice and have yet to be disappointed. Also, it’s great that you can order your meal at different spice levels. I go for mild because I’m a wuss, but my husband can order his meal to be super spicy. I definitely recommend this place — there’s something for everyone, in taste and spiciness.

Got take out from here last Friday. The food was delicious and, best of all, a lot cheaper than other Indian food places! First I want to point out that the information on Unilocal is wrong. They don’t do delivery directly(let alone online ordering) and the address is different as well. But once we got that sorted out, the rest of the experience was smooth sailing. Second, the food is crazy cheap for Indian food. $ 9 for chicken tikka masala, rice, AND naan?! Normally you pay at least $ 15 for that at an Indian restaurant. My boyfriend got the lamb curry and we also got an order of paneer and vegetable manchurian because I love manchurian! Total bill came to $ 30 which is pretty reasonable. Given the price I wasn’t expecting a lot of food but they actually give you a good bit. The whole thing lasted us 4 meals. I also loved the take out trays! They had compartments so the rice stayed on one side and the curry on the other which made for perfect lunch packs the next day. The chicken tikka masala was delicious. The lamb curry was also good but a bit spicier than the medium level we asked for(and definitely spicier than the tikka masala medium level spiciness). The paneer manchurian was great, but normally my favorite is the cauliflower which was good but I’ve had better. Overall a really good take out place! I can’t speak to actually eating there but for my experience, the service was quick and the food was delicious! I would definitely order take out again!

TOGOREVIEW: Kind of one of those fast food meets sit down dining option type of places(think Pei Wei) so is an ideal option for to-go food. [Probably half their business is to-go] Can even order online — so convenient and absolutely no wait. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. The menu: Quite extensive!!! Asian; Indian; Asian Indian Fusion… noodle bowls… salads…what to get? What to get? Answer: Way too much food because wanted to try a variety on first visit! Vegetable spring rolls: Sliced veg in non-greasy, crispy wrap goodness. The tiny kind, but I think 5 per order with yummy duck sauce for dipping. Chicken lollipops with hot chili sauce: 4 to an order. Very large drumette pops! Cooked to perfection. Crispy, moist, not overly greasy. Dangerous. If you’re a wing lover, could eat at least a dozen of these. Chili sauce strange overly think consistency, but great flavor — not really spicy. Chicken Butter Masala: What?! Have had several places before, but after reading Kelly S’s review and her reference to «fat ass» of course had to try it from MW! The buttery the better after all! Yum! Some of the better Butter Masala I’ve had in Austin. Decent portion, tons of rice, but one limp piece of nann with the order? Hmmm… Chicken Masala Quesadilla off the kids menu?: You bet! Had to try. With cheese? Yes, please! Oddly delicious. Actually one of my favs of the evening. Stuffed full with chicken, gooey yummy cheese… yum yum! And huge portion for only 5 bucks. Definitely ordering this again. My only wish is that it had some sort of dipping sauce(think salsa for traditional Mexican quesadillas)…maybe a side of masala sauce. Going to ask next time. Overall: For a chain and fast foodish style — A+. Fast, good eats, fairly inexpensive. Great for takeout!
