It feels wrong to write a negative review of a place with so much buddhist imagery but nevertheless, this place could use some improvement. While it has a peaceful atmosphere, some of the calm is lost for me in that the goods on display are overpriced from my point of view. I have been to Kathmandu twice and the latter time spent 2 weeks combing through handicraft wholsalers to find goods to export back to the u.s. The items at mandala seem in comparison to those i would run accross in kathmandu to be entry level and cheap. With import costs in consideration they dont seem to befit their prices in relation to quality. While i am glad this store exists, i would challenge them to improve the quality of singing bowls, thangkas, kukuri knives, and for god sake a rudraksha necklace should not be 29 dollars. They can sell for a dollar in kathmandu.

I can’t describe the feeling when you walk through the door to the place. I was having a rough day at work and I decided I wanted to buy a new wrist mala and needed to go somewhere where I could feel some peace. This store was exactly what I needed! The selection is amazing… I was overwhelmed with all of the wonderful mala choices plus the cases are filled with gorgeous Tibetan pendants, rings and necklaces. Gorgeous Dzi beads… beautiful stones… singing bowls… this place has everything. The woman behind the counter was so nice and helpful too! I highly recommend this store for getting your Buddhism on! What a beautiful place to look around, shop, and just plain be inspired after a long day!

I think all the other reviews have expressed my same feelings and thoughts. This is just a great little specialty store.

This place is super cool! Had to go pick up a gift after losing a World Cup bet and didn’t really know what to do since they have SOMANYCOOLBRACELETS. Leslie saved the day when she approached me, answered all my questions and helped me find the perfect items! Probably will go back and get something for myself unless I lose more bets ;)

So happy I stumbled across this peaceful Buddhist sanctuary. It is filled with a huge selection of Tibetan singing bowls, prayer flags, meditation rugs, incense, prayer beads and statues. The merchandise is brought straight to the store from Nepal 6 – 8 times a year. The selection of Tibetan singing bowls is impressive, they would really make great gifts. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and it is an overall welcoming atmosphere. My friend and I got matching Tibetan singing bowls, festive prayer flags and some incense as well. Happy with all of my purchases and will be back again.

I’m oh so grateful this shop is here. After being surrounded by ‘new age’ shops in Austin all my life, I’m glad to have finally found a store focused around Buddhism that isn’t that. I originally found them online, on Amazon of all places. I’d found a bodhisattva statue that I really liked, but am always hesitant to purchase something like that online, much less for anything around $ 100. I found the shop had a warehouse, then found that warehouse had a store, and that’s how I came upon the Tibetan Shop. I walked in and was so relieved. It’s full of everything you’d think you want(malas, singing bowls, cushions), plus things that I’ve never been familiar with until now(blessed locks, fabrics). Each and every time I’ve gone in here, I’ve a wonderful experience with the staff. They are always friendly and very helpful. No issues trying out singing bowls, they let me play to my hearts content. They do change their selection of bowls, and once had antique bowls and then now have crystal bowls. I am so hoping I can get one! They carry such a wonderful assortment, I found a wonderful Boddhi tree seed mala, didn’t even imagine that would be the one I’d choose! It’s such a personal experience, I recommend going in to meld with the options and see what resonates. Love this place. Prices are within reason of an import. Not the cheapest, but these are good people, and I’m always happy I stopped by.

Awesome shop-lots of beautiful things and very well thought out store even down to pics of rugs on an ipad so you don’t have to unroll all of them. Very nice lady working there as well as helpful and engaging even down to the specific deities and what are their meanings. Even on a random note we talked about good tacos in town!

This store is a(slightly overwhelming) wonderland of beautiful jewelry and art and… things. Like most of the other reviews say, it really is impossible to come in for a quick visit. There is so much to look at, and you will want to come back for a second trip after absorbing everything from the first one. The store clerk was very helpful in explaining the things I was unknowledgeable about, but there are also helpful frames throughout the store that describe the significance of different things. Definitely come here!

I love Tibetan and Nepali Buddhist art and jewelry and have visited quite a variety of stores, both in and out of the States, which cater to such interests and I can say hands down that Mandala Tibetan Shop is the greatest one I have ever visited. I don’t live in Austin, but I had the luck of finding this little(or not so little!) gem during my first stay here last summer and could not wait to revisit it this time around. They have a beautiful selection of statues and an exceptional selection of singing bowls! They also have wonderful, unique jewelry items, and beautiful, beautiful thangkas. In addition to the items, and in my opinion just as importantly, they have a wonderful staff. Leslie, one of the young ladies who works there, is an absolute gem and such a warm and welcoming person. She genuinely cares about her customers and takes the time to both make them feel welcomed and to answer any questions they have with genuine care and concern. I really love everything about this store and can’t wait to visit again when I’m in Austin! Such an elegant and calming atmosphere and such wonderful items :)

Amazing shop with a great selection of East and South Asian gifts, handicrafts and spiritual tools! Don’t let the variety and sheer amount of stuff intimidate you… I spent 2 hours during my first visit and would definitely go back. The sales woman is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I stopped in to buy a singing bowl for my Thai massage class this weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful and I purchased a small«starter» bowl that’s perfect for my classes. In the future I’d like to buy more tapestries to adorn my yoga studio. Really nice stuff if you’re into Tibetan art and Buddhism.
