Junior League of Austin Resale Shop

This location is still open. I think they were closed for a short while during a remodeling of the building but it is open and still has some great quality stuff. Prices are higher than some other stores but benefits local causes and is worth checking out.

Quality pricey stuff. It’s not a standard thrift store

This isn’t the cheapest thrift store in town, but the stuff here is generally high quality and I usually come away with at least one thing I have to have which isn’t exactly a «bargain» but is still a good price if you consider what it is. The people in the Junior League have to donate a certain quantity of items to the thrift store every year, which ensures that there are always plenty of things to look through. As with any thrift store, you have to dig through a lot of dated/​downright ugly stuff to find the treasures within, but that’s part of the deal with thrift shopping.
I just wish their hours were a little better — it never seems to be open when I want to go here. They do have periodic sales when certain categories of items are ½ off, but I can never seem to catch them because it’s so hard for me to actually show up here at all when they’re open!

I grew up in this store. I can remember from a young age my mother dragging me to the junior league thrift stores where she would inevitably force me to buy something that I would never let my friends know was second hand. Oh boy times are a changing. Who knew thrift store shopping would become the hip twenty something thing to do.
The junior league has a small selection, but the clothes are good quality. My sister found a black and white prom dress for a ridiculously low price, and from picture frames to books, to slightly glam shoes they do have a bit of everything.
It’s not really my scene any more, but for those looking to check out the Austin thrift stores –don’t discount the junior league. Every once an awhile they have some items that can really surprise you. They have some great business attire… however for more laid back clothes, you might want to look elsewhere.
