If you want to eat authentic delicious Chinese food then this is your place. The double lobster is fabulous! The seafood is kept fresh and clean in the tanks. The ambiance is pleasant and the service excellent. I could make a meal of their egg drop soup and rice alone. That’s just how good it is. But of course why stop there when you can order up the lobster three different ways. My favorite so far is black bean. Enjoy!

I always take my parents whenever they visit Austin and even though it’s not as good as Houston Chinatown cuisine it’s still pretty good if you’re craving Chinese food. We always get BBQ pork and roast duck and eggplant.

Random pick from Unilocal before getting to Austin for weekend getaway, and comfort food for my Asian stomach. Very crowed on a Saturday evening — lots of customers waiting to be seated while there were quite some empty tables inside… Picked BBQ duck and pork, and Singaporean style chow fun for to-go… It was quick to pick up. Extraordinary taste, esp. The BBQ pork, tender and juicy, can match, even better than what some Chinese restaurants in San Francisco can offer… What a pleasant surprise to find this gem in Texas for a spoiled Californian Chinese(cantonese)! Edible family style Chinese American restaurant. It’s not the most authentic Chinese food and many dishes reek of «made for Americans»(i.e. Orange chicken) but it should satisfy a large group if you need it to. Service was absolutely fine by Asian restaurant standards. Not the best Asian food around but I find it passable if you just need something to eat.

Excellent cuisine, great prices, I would have given 5 stars but the lady pouring water couldn’t speak a rick of ingrish and when you’re in the middle of dinner and you need chopsticks to eat it was slightly annoying, but the food was incredible.

I have been coming to HoHo’s since they opened when I was a little kid and they’re still just as delicious as they were years ago. This is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Austin area and we drive from Georgetown anytime we are craving it! I think their food is similar in price and taste to Din Ho, but the customer service is a little bit better. I grew up in a Chinese household(cantonese) so buffets just don’t cut it for my taste buds. The only thing that I feel like throws people off when I recommend HoHo’s is that it is a family style restaurant. Meaning the portions are very large(which also means more money) so go in understanding that. My favorites are the BBQ pork and wanton noodle soup, the combination(beef/chicken/seafood) chow mein(crunchy noodles) and you can’t leave without getting the BBQ duck. Delicious! Your appetite will definitely be satisfied!

My go-to family style Chinese bbq restaurant in Austin. Good dishes to order: –BBQ Pork: juicy and sweet!(We always get 2 with a big group) –Peking duck: if you feel like spending extra money but it’s never a bad option –Vegetables: water spinach or snow pea leaves, whichever’s in season –Roasted pork: pork with extra crispy and crunchy skin(no bones) –Walnut shrimp –Salt and Pepper Squid –Beef flat noodles: the beef is the best part They basically have everything that any Chinese BBQ place would have so lots of options! They’re pretty busy during dinner on weekends so be prepared to wait with a big group.

My friends and I went here on Christmas day, kinda as a joke, the line was long, the servers weren’t the friendliest… but dear God… the food… it’s incredible. Absolutely remarkable. I’ll deal with the snarky waitress as long as I can have more won tons, egg drop soup, and more fried pork.

This place is in the top tier of Chinese restaurants in Austin. It and its near clone Din Ho are on the bottom of that top tier. Eat here and you will do better than you will at any of the normals. You will do worse than you would at the great classic Chinese palaces. Asia Café and A Plus A Sichuan are the reigning king and queen of all Chinese food in Austin. They are both Szechuan places. First Chinese BBQ up in Chinatown on North Lamar is the reigning archduke of Cantonese. P F Changs is the reigning court jester of American Chinese. Being court jester does mean you are the best of the clowns. Ho Ho BBQ is a noble aspirant in the Cantonese food dukedom. They have some of the street cred. All meat parts such as tripe are on the menu. They have tanks full of serious live fish. (If you were waiting to be ordered and steamed alive, you would be serious too!) The menu is huge — a necessary requirement for a good Cantonese place. Execution is … mixed. You are never very unhappy with your food. You are never ecstatic. My most recent visit was typical. A fish with plum sauce with bland but beautifully textured fish, not much plum taste. Lots of flavor bits mixed with the fish like steamed jalapeño and steamed orange peel. The garnishes covered well for the thats-nice-dear fish. The snow peas were completely lovely. The clams in satay sauce were fair. The clams were huge — but Texas has a hard time getting good clams. The clams themselves — net of any cooking technique– were fresh but not all that good tasting. There is little a kitchen can do to save a mediocre clam — even if everyone in the kitchen is an iron chef. Other visits have been about the same. Parts of every dish are pleasant enough — but there is always one thing on the table about which one can realistically complain. That said, the cooking is authentic enough. Their refusal-to-sink-to-American-standards merits applause. Not every restaurant in Hong Kong is wonderful. Think of Ho Ho as a real deal not-very-wonderful Hong Kong restaurant that would not be out of place near Sheung Wan. I think of it as Ho Hum. But, they are light years better than New Fortune or your typical chicken-with-cashews joint.

I came here a few times already. Many Chinese friends recommended it to me. I had studied abroad in China for 3 months so I have authentic Chinese food. This place isn’t that authentic but one of the best in town that I know off. It is a bit pricey, the fish tank is scary and usually waitresses are not friendly. The food is good, I liked Sea Bass in Plum sauce and seafood veggies stir fried. But all food has very similar taste and a lot of MSG. Afterward, I feel very thirsty. Good thing is if you pay cash, you get 10% off.

This is our absolute favorite Chinese place to get take out or come to. The food is amazing and everyone is extremely nice. It is a must try! I love the orange chicken or seafood Lo mein. And the fried dumplings are a must try! Almost everytime I call in an order it is ready within 15 minutes which is plus! If you come on a Friday night it is packed, I think that is a good thing and shows how well liked they are by everyone!

My first experience with Ho Ho was back 4 years ago before I even lived in Austin. I remember leaving with a positive impression yet I never made it back until now and boy have I been missing out. I haven’t had all the Chinese BBQ places in town yet, but this one beats Din Ho easily in my opinion; especially as it pertains to their BBQ Pork. I’ve had a fair amount of Chinese bbq pork in my day, and theirs here is the most tender and juiciest I’ve ever had. This including some fantastic stops in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York. I don’t know if it’s always this good, but man oh man was it exceptional on this visit. It has a deep complex flavor to it. You get the meatiness of the pork, richness from the fat, a nice crisp and very flavorful outer shell with hints of cinnamon. I will definitely be back for that. I have had better duck, and with more meat on the bone, but theirs was still good here and not dry which is always appreciated. We also got their spicy Sichuan chicken which may have been a rookie mistake. It wasn’t spicy at all and while it wasn’t bad, it was definitely Americanized. They seem to specialize in more Cantonese style Chinese anyway. I have no complaints about service and the atmosphere, for me at least, is pretty traditional hole in the wall type Chinese joint. Looking forward to returning again and much sooner than another 4 years.

The location could be a bit hard to see coming off Mopac. I suppose just follow the GPS and you’ll get to it. This venue has a private lot and usually there isn’t any problems find parking. If the worse comes to the worse, there are also other establishments close by with adjacent parking lots so there shouldn’t be a problem in finding parking The interior of the restaurant isn’t anything special. There is a small waiting area in the front in case you are waiting for a table or picking something up to go. And trust me, if you go on a weekend evening, you probably will have to wait for 10 – 15 mins on average, and this was at 8 pm. Times may be even longer during peak dinner hours. There are a variety of tables and booths that you can use. Most of the tables are able to seat 4 people. They have about 4 large ones that can seat up to 10ish people. A couple can seat 6. The service is pretty good. People are pretty friendly and generally pretty quick. The food is pretty awesome. I’d say this was the best place for Cantonese-style Chinese food in Austin(maybe the best Chinese food place in Austin). The portions are pretty large and you’ll definitely be satisfied when you leave. I recommend the beef-flat noodles. Top notch! Bonus: Rice is free!

Pretty solid Chinese food! I’ve eaten here twice, once at the restaurant and once for carry out. Service is a little crazy here on Friday nights, so if you don’t want to deal with having to wait a little longer for food come some other time. So far, I would say the pot stickers are the best appetizers. The egg rolls you can skip, and the crab rangoon are just okay. I’ve had Kung Pao Beef and Beef Lo Mein, both of which are delicious. The portions here are HUGE, I’ve had about three meals’ worth on each of these dishes. My boyfriend usually gets the sesame chicken and it is also delicious.

Food is family style here mainly. Great flavors! Service can be better but they got the job done. We had the maw soup, Chinese broccoli, lobster stir fry, orange chicken of which all were delicious. We also ordered a whole BBQ duck to go, very juicy and moist. Runs $ 20. We will return!

Hoho is probably the best Chinese food you can get in town. It’s cheap and tasty. It’s located right by red robin on Parmer and 35. My favorites: BBQ duck(a must try) Marinated chicken Roasted duck (Basically any of their Chinese BBQ) Try pairing the meats with their wonton noodle soup. My absolute favorite is the dungeonous crab fried rice that is not on the menu. It’s a very LARGE portion so i suggest sharing it with 5 or more people! The fried rice has shrimp and fried crab meat, topped with deep fried crab. It’s amazing!

Sunday evening had a 15 minute wait for a four person table. It’s a bit confusing when you get in, but make sure you get your name on the list and a number tag if you want to be in the official waiting line. There’s a bit of confusion between the take out line and waiting for a table line. I’m not really sure if it was the same line or not. We ordered basic dishes: beef flat noodle, combination bbq, tofu with bok choy and mushrooms, fried sea bass, and water spinach. The food came out quickly and was tasty and fresh. The vegetables were luscious and well made. Service was quick and courteous, although do not expect special attention. The service is similar to typical Chinese restaurants. My only quibble was with the roast pork — it wasn’t as crispy and meaty as some other places I have eaten at. Perhaps it’s preference, but I do like to have a little bit of meat on my roast crispy pork and an extremely crispy roasted texture and flavor. This one seemed a bit lacking. Cha siu and roast duck were delicious and all the other dishes. Food wasn’t as lily and overly salted, so that is a plus as well. And, we were given oranges and fortune cookies to finish the meal.

Ho Ho is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in Austin hands down! The taste is on par with many of the Chinese restaurants that I have been to(across the U.S., Canada and Asia). It’s definitely our place to go when we crave BBQ Congee, Noodles etc. BBQ duck and pork = very delicious! The meat is tender, juicy and very flavorful. The only thing I would have to comment on is that sometimes we would be served pieces of meat with lots of fat attached. This dish is served with white rice. Lobster yee mein. Fresh lobster from the tanks by the front doors! There are many different types of seasoning for the lobster to choose from. We choose the classic, ginger & green onion and complemented the dish with a bed of mushroom yee mein on the bottom. The lobster was cooked perfectly! Walnut shrimp. The shrimp was flavorful, didn’t have too much breading or mayo(unlike most restaurants) with small chunks of walnuts. This dish also came with white rice. Will be back next time to try the Beijing/Peking duck and more fresh seafood from the tanks. 5 stars for a chinese restaurant in austin. In my honest opinion, I thought ho ho was slightly better than din ho.
