Good food, decent price, service was a little slow. Salsa was amazing. They serve breakfast all day long so I opted for breakfast tacos.

Hidden gem located in North Austin! I love this place and eat here on a regular basis. My absolute favorite is the combo fajitas for dinner and Migas for breakfast. Definitely a place to try.

Damn in from Detroit and living in Cali I thought I could find authentic Mexican food. It was just ok. It’s next door to my hotel but I won’t be back.

I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant as it seemed like a hole in the wall. The food is well priced and very filling. They constantly have deals which are friendly towards your wallet and delicious for you.

Not a fan of Maria’s. I have been in the restaurant industry for over 25 years and I know caned beans when I taste them. When we received the taco it came with no cheese. The servers were very attentive, maybe a little to much. The waitress at the end bussed our table and cleaned it while we were still there making me feel very rushed. The only good thing was the green salsa.

Delicious well priced food that always fulfills my craving for authentic mexican food. I come here at least twice a month for the amazing breakfast deals. The service is always quick and my order is always right

As I walked in the two servers were doing their side work(rolling silverware, cleaning/bussing tables), and didn’t really pay me much attention. She finally stopped cleaning and told me to sit where I wanted. She got my chips and drink rather quickly and since I knew what I wanted(fajitas) I ordered pretty quickly. I also wanted a small queso with my chips. She seemed new cause she didn’t really know the menu very well, which is understandable but then she returned multiple times from the computer to ask me to repeat my order. Still, no big deal. I’m a very patient person. 5 – 10 min of waiting I asked about my queso and she looked confused about my question. She apologizes and goes to the kitchen to get it. The kitchen is separated by an old buffet wall and you can hear clearly what’s going on in the kitchen. Now, here’s where I get upset. I’m a blonde, blue eyed white boy that has been in kitchens for years. needless to say I know a lot of Spanish slang. I can clearly hear them talking shit about the queso situation. «the big white boy wants his cheese to dip his chips and probably drink hahaha». Still. I’m patient and just smile about it. I had a plan. My fajitas come out and looks rough. The rice and beans are very plain and didn’t wow me. No spice, no heat, portion was fair though. The corn tortillas were sub par as well. The bell peppers and onions that accompanied my flank steak strips were not cooked long enough for my liking. That’s just my personal opinion I suppose, but I feel like they just tossed them on the flat top and warned them up. Now the meat! It was dry and lacked flavor. I wanted the juiciness and spice that I find in great fajitas! I wanted to get the aromas from sizzling plate but all I got was steam and disappointment. Bummer. Throughout the meal she didn’t stop by often. She had pleasant conversation on her cell phone by the front door and then again with her fellow server. She finally got around to refilling my drink and went back to the hustle and bustle of her job. I finished my meal and she circled back to grab plates I turned to her and asked her ‚” can I have a ice tea to go” in Spanish. Her face made my meal worth one star. Be careful what you say about your guest. They might speak Spanish.

The loud videos with all the scantily clad dancers are a bit much during breakfast. Little kids were in there having to see all of that. Service was slow despite having what appeared to be three wait staff on duty. Charged for a soda I sent back since it was flat-when I pointed it out on our receipt she said she didn’t know how to take it off(though she did try to just give us the 1.99 in cash). Food was pretty good– but not good enough for us to be willing to sit through the rump shakin’ glistening party yacht videos.

My husband and I tried Maria’s for the first time tonight and overall we were disappointed with the food. We got a side of chips and queso and split both a quesadilla and a monster burrito. The queso was good but definitely wasn’t the best we’ve had. The quesadilla we got was small for $ 3 and was kind of soggy and sad looking. When we got our burrito we were confused at first because the menu said it came with lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole, but we were expecting that to be on the side instead of in our burrito. It was lacking much chicken and the taste of refried beans overpowered the dish. The staff was friendly but the waitress didn’t notice when we needed refills on chips and drinks. We probably won’t be going back again which is a shame since it’s so close to our home.

Great tex-mex place that’s conveniently close to work. Inexpensive and filling — don’t expect many frills. This place is meant for a quick hunger fix.

Their coffee is delicious. The breakfast tacos are cheap and the fillings are tasty, though the tortillas are a bit stale & obviously store-bought. The green salsa is the perfect level of spiciness. All in all, a decent whole in the wall place in the area for cheap, filling food.

Not very friendly but they make good breakfast tacos. Expect good food for a good price, but don’t expect a smile.

So we saw the good reviews here and decided to see for ourselves what the hype was about. It is a small unassuming place in a little strip mall… wasn’t too crowded on Friday night. Service was excellent, our waitress was pretty attentive and quick to get everything put in for us. We enjoyed the chips and salsa, the green salsa was a bit spicier than I was expecting! So we got a side of guacamole, it was pretty standard but good. Bf got an Aztec enchiladas plate and I got a combo plate with an enchilada, small torta and taco. The rice was cooked well, bf asked for charro beans and got refried but they were still fine. All in all it was an OK meal, not the greatest but not the worst. We probably wouldn’t return as there are better spots closer to home but if it’s not out of your way then you should check it out for a fairly cheap meal.

Very good Mexican food! Pretty close to authentic you’d find my my moms kitchen! Also a huge plus since they have vegetarian options, including rice and beans that are veg friendly! Definitely going to be a regular.

Growing up in Mexico it’s hard to find a TRUE authentic Mexican restaurant, but alas I found Maria’s! In just about everything the food reminds me of my days back home. They even have Aguas frescas which Im noticing is almost impossible to find here in Austin. The girls are really nice and super friendly, their English is a tad bit broken, but have not trouble communicating. If you speak Spanish, use it! These girls are, like I said, super friendly! I come almost everyday and not one day goes by where they don’t satay«hi» or assume my order(9 out do 10 times, it’s usually the same)

Pretty good stuff. Don’t ever think I’ve seen a «Mom and Pop» joint pack to go food so well. Had to take lunch for my sick mother and she was very happy! Nice Job Maria’s. Food was good, fresh and staff cared. A bit more $ that I expected but in the end, I’d rather pay a bit more and get folks who care that your sick mom is going to be eating this in a few minutes! BTW, note to self for future reference… Mexican food and Sick Moms do not mix well ;)

I’ve been coming here fairly regularly for over a year and it does seem like the quality and service are slipping. Just note that you will have to ask for things from the waitstaff — they aren’t necessarily paying attention to your tables anymore. I find the waitstaff paying more and more attention to the TV than to tables or the kitchen. Recommended: gorditas, flautas, enchiladas Not recommended: taco salad(it’s a normal taco bowl, but with less lettuce than a side salad — it comes out less than half full, and most of that is sour cream and fajita meat.
