Went in because I was having professional photos taken the next day and couldn’t afford to go to my normal salon. I was nervous going into it and almost walked out and gave in to the salon next door but they called my name. I should have listened to my gut. I needed to get a few inches trimmed, from my shoulders to mid neck. I wasnt expecting the greatest hair cut of my life for $ 14. The woman who cut it(slightly older asian woman) did cut it the length I asked, but while it was wet and without considering the my hair is slightly wavy. So once it dried, it ended up at my jawline. I now have to straighten my hair or it will be closer to my lip line. Now, instead of having a cute wavy cute, I’ll have to straighten and pull back the sides. Do youself a favor and just shell out the extra cash for a true salon.

I have been going to Great Clips at this location for 14 years or so. I went in there one Saturday afternoon and I got there around noon because I had put off having a haircut for a few weeks and I wanted to come in and get it done. I signed up at the register like usual, checked in by a woman I always see there and who has cut me and my son’s hair several times over the years. I knew what I wanted but I wanted to find it in the haircut book to make sure the hairdresser had a good image to work from. They took my name and told it would be about 30 minutes. No problem, I looked at the haircut books for 5 minutes, then decided to walk outside. I knew they had my phone number because that was how they check people in. I walked up to the woman who had checked me in and told her I was going to walk around, I smiled and told her I was Laura number 1. I said this because another Laura had just walked in and I did not want her to be put in front of me on accident. I set my clock, went out and walked around and came back in 20 minutes. You can guess what happened. I see the other Laura, the 2nd Laura standing up after getting her haircut. I wait till she leaves. The hair cutter calls my name. I walk up and say«I am ready for my free haircut». He says what? I repeat what I said and then add, «you put that woman in front of me». He said with a snotty voice«you weren’t here». «I said before I left I was Laura number 1 and you have my number why did you not call me? That woman was the 2nd Laura, I was first». He looked at me like he was having a fight with his friend. He did not treat me like a customer. He said back«did you tell us to call you?» No I told him«you are the business you are supposed to be the experts in customer service». I told them all, because now the whole room was watching including the woman/hair cutter I always see there, «I had worked in customer service 20 years and you don’t do that». The woman said«but we told you the wait was 30 minutes» which is obviously a stupid thing to say because it seems they were ready to cut my hair in about 6 minutes after arrival and has nothing to do with anything. I said«I understand that and I do not mind waiting to get a haircut but this is different». Obviously I don’t recall all of it now this was a month plus back. I told them more tips about good customer service. They came back with lame excuse after lame excuse of why they had effed up. No apology, no offers to make it up. The male hair cutter who was supposed to cut my hair threw his hands up in the air like he was disgusted!!! He had the social and customer service skills of a cretin. That was it I said«i don’t want a haircut, I am leaving I have been coming here 14 years but that’s it» I left and I am not coming back. This place is ghetto. If your the business owner and your losing money-you now know why. If a customer is not happy because someone was put in front of her are your employees trained to argue, throw their hands up in the air and come up with any lame thought that comes in their head? Because that is what I GOT.

When I walked in the door, the hairstylists looked at me, and continued with their work. A simple smile or «hello» would have gone a long way. After a few minutes, One stylist acted as if I were a bother, and said, did you need something? I obviously walked in to get a hair cut, it doesn’t take much of anything to come to that conclusion. I sat patiently, doodling on my phone. About 10 minutes pass and a woman walks in, same manner as me except this time, was greeted with so much enthusiasm I was taken aback. It was obvious that it was her first time, none of her information was in the system, yet she was being treated with the utmost respect that any guest or client should be treated, i was confused as to why I would be treated any differently. My turn was next, and the stylist who cut my hair the last time decided that I would be skipped over and could wait for the other stylist who was more than rude when I walked in. Why would I be OK with that? Why would I do the right thing and tip equal to the cost of my cut like I normally do to someone who doesn’t care about repeat business. Stay away if you want a good cut and normal respect like any human should expect from other humans.

Terrible haircut. Uneven length. Too ashamed to post a pic. The guy spent maybe 5 minutes cutting my hair. He seemed more interested in his own silver fox coif than the customer’s hair. Wish I could make my hair grow faster so I can go somewhere else to undo the damage.

Had literally the worst haircut experience ever: When I walked in, two of the barbers was cutting hair for customers. Only one women was sweeping floor. She was pretty much indifferent and didn’t almost say a word when signing me in. After being seated, all she knew about cutting hair was asking how long do I want it. And then all she did was running the haircutting razor through my hair, pretty much finishing in 3 minutes without even touching the scissors or asking my how I like it. Now my hair is shockingly shorter than I had wanted. Again, WORST experience ever. Highly recommend against anyone from going to this place!

I was in DESPERATE need for a trim and didn’t really want to pay more than $ 35 to get it done anywhere, so I figured Great Clips was the way to go. When I called to try and make an appointment, I was told it was a Walk-In basis only so I was a little hesitant to go at first because Walk-In usually means«You’re going to have to wait 30 minutes or more». However, that wasn’t the case here at all. It was Monday at around 6ish when I showed up and was acknowledged right away. The assistant manager was very friendly and checked me in. She offered to wash my hair for an additional $ 4, so I said«why not?» and I am SO glad I agreed to do it because it was awesome! I have some crazy, crazy hair and she understood where I was coming from. Not only was she really friendly, she was very knowledgeable. Throughout the entire time I was there, she kept the conversation going & definitely gives a good vibe. I’ve been to a few salons in Austin and never had an experience where I was happy with the entire visit(those salons were also about 3 times more expensive than here). The stylists elsewhere usually don’t talk or really listen to what I want done. I got my hair washed, trimmed and relayered while having a good experience all for just $ 18! Ask for Victoria! You won’t be disappointed :)

This is my first post. Unfortunately negative, but I do plan on posting positive on good experiences from other business(not a negative person ATALL). I have been going to great clips for a LONGTIME. Hit or miss pending the hair dresser. I am leaving great clips, and my hair is not short enough after telling her 3 times it needs to be shorter. I finally just stopped telling her, and figure Ill get a haircut in 2 ½ weeks instead of 3 – 4 weeks fine whatever. Upon getting home I look in the mirror and one side burn is longer than the other!!! She didn’t even touch one side! I had to trim it myself for length but cant thin it out… scared of messing it up. TERRIBLE experience. I will be going to great clips but NOTTHISONE. FYI-She was a short Hispanic girl with a mole on the neck, and black long hair kinda wavy. Also my hair is easy to do. I ask for it to be flipped in the front and shortened thats all!!! DONTGOHERE go to another one! Its worth an extra 10 minute drive!

Horrible. I have never been to a Great Clips before. I was looking for a mid priced chain because I have had good experiences in the past. They were completely unprofessional and when I asked for him to measure my hair for locks of love he took a quick glance and said it wasn’t long enough. I asked him to measure and he refused. I had measured twice at home both times I was a little past 10in. I had pictures with me that he completely ignored. I wanted to get it very short but after telling him twice to go shorter I gave up. I asked for layers and got none. I didn’t think what I wanted was that difficult. If you want anything other than a 5 minute straight cut then you’ll be fine although I would not go to this location. Horrible customer service. Now I know.

Just needing a trim on our long locks, my boyfriend and I went into this place not looking for anything fancy just a few inches off the bottom. Well, the people working there don’t look like the typical hair dressers but OK let’s overlook that. The one guy that cut my hair had a big belly that kept coming very close to my face just by sheer size but he knew his stuff. He was careful not to be over zealous and cut off more than I wanted. I had him cut off a little more and he then French braided my hair afterward. My boyfriend had… well a scary woman in desperate need of waxing her chin. I think she had more hair than he does there. A few teeth missing to go along with her bed hair. She cut off just an inch and was chatting with him non stop about not cutting his beautiful locks anymore. I could see he just wanted to be done and get out of there. We were there not long at all and it cost us with tip about $ 25 total for both of us. They did a good job and we’ll be back. I would have given them 5 stars but well you know why. It was entertaining to say the least and not the usual trip to a salon. If you’re looking for it, it’s in the Central Market shopping center to the left, right behind the old Borders.

I haven’t had fancy hair in a while, so I’ve always gone to the discount cutters to trim my hair every so often. Typically, I’ll head to this Great Clips because they’re fast and convienent and there is barely any wait time. Also, the prices are pretty good. You can almost be in and out without too much hassle(and the stylists don’t try to sell you crap shampoo like at some fancier salons). But why do I give this place only 3 stars? I have had one majorly bad experience that really turned me off from this location. My current requirements for a haircut consist of trimming X amount of inches straight across. So I go in and I have a lady with an Eastern European accent who was really pretty nice. I had an interview the next day, so I wanted to trim off some of my damaged ends. So she cuts my hair in about 10 minutes and I’m out of there and running errands the rest of the day. However, when I was out I kind of noticed the weight of my hair was different on each side. Hm. Maybe I was just imagining things? I just got a hair cut, so obviously my hair wouldn’t weigh the same. But when I get home, this strange lopsided feeling I had been feeling all day turned out to be that my hair on one side was about an inch longer than the hair on the other side. I confirmed this by putting my hair in pigtails and lo and behold, one side was definitely longer than the other. So I go back and she doesn’t believe me until I show the manager one end versus the other. The original cutter fixed the hair, but still had to cut more off than I wanted in order to fix her mistake. I’m guessing that you get what you pay for, but then again, I thought a straight across trim was one of the easiest things you could do!

Ok just to be clear, the five stars is for Diane. I have never been a loyal person when it somes to hairdressers… until now. Actually about 3 or more years ago I called Great Clips(near Central Market) and wanted to know what time they closed, drove super fast from North Austin where i work to get there on a Saturday, I walk in the door 20 min before closing and the little receptionist tells me i am too late, Diane offered to cut my hair, she told me she really enjoyed her job, i had never had a better hair cut. Well, almost 4 years later and I still go to Diane, she is awesome! You only pay $ 14.00 for the best hair cut so give her a try.
