I don’t like contemporary furniture, but did find a sofa for a good price at this store. I loved the fact that the back could be converted to lay down and created a second bed in my studio apartment. I ordered the sofa and scheduled it to be shipped. Well, the day before it shipped I found a sofa that did the same thing, but was more mid-century modern and more my style. I called Eurway and figured they wouldn’t let me cancel because I had already set up my shipping time. Well, they let me cancel and were very nice about it. Good business in my book!

My bed from Eurway held up slightly better than the Ikea-crap I’ve bought… I’ve had it about 7 years, and it did the trick, though it was the platform kind with the cardboard slats(no box spring), which needed replacing. It wasn’t exactly the most comfortable thing ever, but it served its purpose. Eurway has some totally ‘80s stuff, some overpriced stuff, but also some ‘50s inspired stuff I totally covet.

Like any furniture store, you’re not going to like everything they have. I’m not a huge fan of their platform beds, for example. However, I got a great kidney shaped retro-modern coffee table there, and my dining table to match my 50s diner style chairs. They fit a unique niche in Austin when we didn’t have an IKEA. I’m not sure how they’ll do now, with the competition, but they are slightly more upscale, with more upscale prices.

I’ve been to Eurway a couple of times and I just don’t get it. I think in order to understand Eurway you need to arrive wearing a white suit coat, sleeves rolled up, with a neon shirt underneath and turn on some Foreigner«I’ve been waiting for a girl like you»… that will set the mood. It’s a little 1980s… not that I don’t love the 80s, but it’s not something I could integrate into my house. Eurway is kind of an «all or nothing» type store. If you don’t already have a «modern» décor in your house then you’ll have a hard time integrating any of their pieces into your collection. Lots of glass furniture. Which, as I’ve learned from many 1980s movies, is perfect for working with cocaine. So, if you are into the 1980s and handle large amounts of cocaine… this might be your place. If this same furniture was at Ikea prices I still think I would have left empty handed. It’s not for everyone… but some 1980s cocaine users are going to flip when they find this place.

Eurway and IKEA are sort of in the same space. Eurway is a bit higher end(and a little bit more expensive, though not much more). But the selections aren’t nearly as deep, and I don’t get as many ideas wandering through here as I do through IKEA. It a nice alternative, as the country is becoming familiar with the IKEA look. It’s less likely that someone’s going to walk into your home and say«Oh, that looks like it came from Eurway.» The salespeople are a little pushy for me, a step closer to some traditional furniture stores or some high-end electronics stores from the 80s. Frankly, home furnishing and accessories is one of the places where I don’t see the value or need for salespeople, unless I’m trying to outfit an entire room. In that case, they better be an interior designer. The salespeople here definitely are not, they are simply people taking commissions off of those who walk in.(And if they’re not commissioned, then the management needs to seriously think about their reason for being.) Don’t get me wrong; It’s not like they follow you around the store or try to steer you in a specific direction, but it’s just a little disconcerting when a person walks up to you saying«Hi, how can I help you?» while wiping the drool from their chin, and then intimates that you need to go to them and them only with any questions or if you can’t find something. We got a business card on our way out. Hey, if I thought you hadn’t just picked up this job because CompUSA is going out of business, I might have more reason to actually call you. Anyway, it’s worthy of checking out, and we have some things that we are very pleased with. And they were far easier to assemble than most things that come from IKEA.

The furniture looks better online than it does in person. If you are wanting some cool modern furniture, but you are on a budget, this might do the trick. But the quality is about equivalent of what you’d find at Ikea. However, I do like some of their accessories, so I’m sure I’ll be back from some funky clocks and cool lamps. Take Eric S’s advice: If you need stuff that looks cool, but won’t actually use everyday, Eurway is a great solution, but if you need furniture that will be around for the long haul, go somewhere with better quality items.

I like modern furniture and live in north, so I went there often. But it seems they have more tables, sofa and chairs than other furniture in store. I particularly like shopping for art. So I didn’t get too many things from there. Every time it was a window shopping. I got more stuff from IKEA. But I have to admit IKEA quality is not that good and it looks cheap too.

Well, I went here because at the time Ikea was not open yet and this seemed to be the only place that met the contemporary-design furniture on a budget and purchased a bed and mattress. I have to say that looks and price, they are definitely on par with industry-leader Ikea. I have to say that even with the declining quality of Ikea over the past few years, they still blow away Eurway. Within one year of use the Mattress is already uncomfortable and when the flimsy boards to support the mattress started giving out the best response they could give me was wait 3 months for replacement parts that will also die in a year or go to home depot and get some plywood. Aside from that, I love cool chairs, but they have to be comfortable. Eurway has a great selection of cool looking chairs for reasonable prices, but going to the store and trying them out, not a single one was comfortable. If you are trying to get cool looking stuff for that guest room you never use, consider this place an option. For those items you actually use every day, save your time and go to Ikea.

Eurway sells modern contempary furniture at moderate prices. Most of their items look good w/out being cheesy, although the impression one of my local friends had of the place was different. I stopped by here a few years ago and really liked one of their dining tables, but really didn’t have a need for one at the time. Fast fwd a few years and I finally ended up ordering that italian made floating glass/wood extending dining table I always wanted. It was massive, so it had to come by freight. The first table they sent ended up being broken, but Eurway’s customer service was great and they promptly sent a new one. Unfortunately they don’t sell that table anymore, so I’m glad I got it. I did also end up getting the ‘Sleek TV Stand’ and the quality of that piece is very good as well…4 stars better than Ikea quality.
