HORRIBLE… Whatever you do… DONOTUSETHISMOVINGCOMPANY. DONOTUSETHISMOVINGCOMPANY! I requested quotes from several moving companies. Elephant was not the cheapest but I did like Orna the scheduler. She seemed honest and wanted to earn my business. As a regional executive, I have moved many times in the last 5 years. I explained that my company needed a binding flat rate and a 1 day move. She came back with the quote for an additional $ 400 which I accepted. I asked if there would be any hidden cost. She said absolutely NOT. She said the price would not change unless I had more belongings than on my list which could not exceed a 24 foot truck. This was a move from HOUSTON/THE WOODLANDSTOAUSTIN!(4 bedroom house) She scheduled for Saturday morning at 8am. Then called back and said she would rescheduled for Sunday morning because this would be the only job they would have for the day. The movers(2 teenagers and 1 older adult) showed up at 1pm with a 24 foot Penske truck rental. No identification, no uniform, t-shirt etc. They finished at 5:30pm. Then said they were going on lunch and would leave at 6:30pm for Austin. I knew he didn’t have our address and so I tried to call him over 6 times with no answer. I got worried and thought they were going to steal our belongings but we arrived in Austin at 8:15pm and still no answer. Finally at 10pm the dispatch answered and said she sent the home because it was too late. She hung up on us and wouldn’t answer. We had to sleep in an empty house on the floor with our son. They arrived at 8am on Monday.(We both missed work) They took 4 hours to unload the truck and we thought they worked diligently but slow. They had trouble assembling the furniture. So we gave them a $ 240 tip and lunch. 1 hour after they left and received the company check, I received a call that I need to pay them for the 4 hours. They called and harassed me about paying an additional $ 480. She said she estimated the move to take 7 hours total. The travel to Austin is 3 hours alone. So why would it take only 2 hours to load then 2 hours to unload a 4 bedroom house? BEWARE…this is an awful company.

BEWARE!!! If I could give a minus 5 stars, I would. This company sucks. Initially, we felt really good about them. And then, not so much. The first piece of furniture broke in their truck before they had even loaded half of our items. Shame on me for not reading these reviews, and for not stopping them right there. Not only were many of our items broken or ruined – most of which were vintage pieces that aren’t replaceable – but they have not once returned any correspondence regarding our claim. DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY, unless you’re moving pillows two blocks.

I’m finally getting around to writing my review from my move at the end of May. Initially I felt good about these movers and felt confident in them. Expecting my stuff within about 2 weeks, I patiently waited and tried not bugging the office staff too much… Almost a month went by and then I got angry. Long story short, I finally received my items 31 days later. Funny that their website states TX dot regulates it to be under 21. I paid a lot of money for such a delay and unneeded stress. I wish I would have complained more but I was so over dealing with them. Oh well, hopefully no one else makes mine and many other of the negative folks decision to use this company.

FIND A BETTERMOVINGCOMPANY! When I got my furniture delivered from out of storage when I moved into my new place, most of the furniture had scratches all over and looked like it had been manhandled. Worse, the furniture was delivered outside of the time frame that we had mutually set up, resulting in my furniture being delivered to the wrong location, which completely defeated the purpose of using a moving company. I had to call the office around five or six times to schedule an additional appointment to have the furniture moved properly, but once we would agree on an additional time, no one ever showed up – for five or six straight times! Very bad experience.

Reflecting back recently on my cross country move experience last year with Elephant moving brought back nightmares. First off, Elephant Moving is an appropriate name for this company — after un-boxing items weeks later after a cross country trip of which I can only assume that while sitting in storage on the truck for two weeks, things were kept safe; instead we found several cracked or broken dishware, ceramic plates etc. It seemed like an elephant stomped all over the items! When finally moving in to a new rental place, they scratched the laminate floor! Now it’s hard to scratch laminate — it’s designed to resist pets and furniture scratches, yet the Elephant movers were able to do it with one move. When we spoke with the move coordinator Johanna, she promised that we would get a $ 300 credit back. Several days later of calling her with repeated messages, she never returned the calls and did not even make an attempt to follow up with us on that promise. Finally, the movers who moved us in to the new place had a poor attitude, didn’t speak very good English, and seemed to be rushing through the move as though they were being inconvenienced! It was a horrible, costly experience and I hope no one else has to suffer through a move with this company again.

DONOTDOBUSINESSWITHTHISCOMPANY! Given that we gave this company our business(very large move) twice within a little over two months you would expect us to give them a good rating. NOTSO. The movers were hard workers. We had no issue with them– normal scratches and bruises you might have with a move. We have moved many. many times all over the US and abroad, but this was the WORSTEXPERIENCE we have ever had with customer service. The furniture that was scratched in the move could easily be touched up by a repairman. One dining room chair was broken and also, is repairable. We expected as in our past moves, that damage would be repaired quickly. However, after numerous claims with photos submitted, 5 months later, no repair work has been done. At least 15 phone calls have been made to resolve these issues. We were told that the owner/manager, Joanna, would return our calls or send us something in writing about our claim. NOTHING. To treat a customer so poorly is poor business sense and poor management. Word of mouth is the best form or advertisement and our intention is to contact every real estate company and make them aware of this disreputable company. It has put our real estate agent in a bad position because she suggested we call this moving company. A report will go to the Better Business Bureau and unfortunately, we will have to bring Elephant Moving Company to small claims court. This has been a horrible experience and I hope that that this review will prevent another person from having this type of experience.
