What the hell happened? After watching The Biggest Loser I was really craving a burger and when I pulled up to the Burger House it was closed. Closed down. A blue tarp over the big Burger House sign, and a Keller Williams«for lease» board right on the entrance door. What’s goin on?

Continuing my burger search, I am always looking for the best. I have been to The Burger House before but it was a long time a go. I also remember going to this spot when it was a Hot Dog place I don’t remember the name. So I went again last week to try the burger and fries again. I ordered the standard burger with cheese, a hot dog with onions and a shake. OK, now I remember, the famous spice; they use the seasoning salt on the burger and the fries. I am not real thrilled about the seasoned salt. The burger was fine so was the hot dog, the fries not to my taste, maybe without the seasoned salt it would be better. The shake was thick and creamy just the way I like my shakes. There is plenty of parking and the service was very good, I ate my burger at the outside tables. There are a lot of nice big trees around. It was a pleasant afternoon. The inside was clean and well kept. There service was very good. The staff was very courteous and friendly. When you leave you can only turn right due to the one way street, it took awhile because there was a lot of traffic at the time I wanted to exit. There is a drive thru service for those on the go. Overall it is OK for burgers some will like the spice and some will not, so you must try it to determine for yourself if it meets your expectations. Will I go back? Rarely but I will go back.

Salty! I have eaten hear probably five or six times now and only the first time was I pleased. I don’t know if it was because they forgot to put a pound of salt on my burger the first time or if I just had no taste buds that day. Every burger since the first here has been seasoned in a non pleasing way. I hope to come back and try the place again in a few months to a few years to try the burgers again, but at this point I really would not recommend it to anyone. I am sure there must be something I am missing, since I read other peoples reviews about the shakes and what not, but I just don’t normally do shakes. The outdoor seating area is nice :)

PROS: polite service, accurate order, outstanding seasoning salt, fresh veggies, yummy – albeit sticky – buns, good fries, excellent outdoor seating, make/refill your own drinks, supports local people/businesses/teams. CONS: thin burger patty to accommodate the large buns, small parking lot

I actually liked this place. Good burgers and pretty quick.

This is what I get for not Unilocaling before I go to a restaurant. This place has been open sine 1951? Really? Did we have a shortage of good burgers back then? I will say the place looks nice from the outside and the inside is small and cozy, but not bad. They have an outdoor seating area, which is pretty nice too. There must be a high school or middle school nearby because there were a bunch of of those types of kids there. The«famous fries» are probably famously unoriginal. They look like McDonald’s fries, but they don’t taste half as good. If you don’t like McDonald’s fries, well this place has fries that will make you like McDonald’s. The burgers«look» big. The buns are sesame buns that were actually pretty good. Maybe they fixed the sogginess everyone’s been complaining about. The burger has a high ratio of surface area: volume. The patties are flat and they fit the size of the bread, but meh. The burger also tastes like mustard. I love mustard, but not when it is all I taste. However, the staff people are nice. Kudos to them.

people need to quit hating on the burger house. i am from california and spots like this: neighborhood burger spots that are a part of the community are everywhere. it’s not meant to be fancy, super amazing food. i find everything that i have had to be solid and consistent. the onion rings are awesome and the salsa they serve with the breakfast tacos(which have improved markedly since i first went there a year or so ago) is really unique. i like the burger house, people need to quit expecting something fancy when it is exactly what it is supposed to be: yummy, fried, local, homey, goodness that reminds you of sunday afternoons as a kid.

Just moved to the area and I am so excited there is a Burger House so close. My girlfriend and I were moving in so we ordered two cheeseburgers, fries and a shake to go. Cheap, greasy burger that was absolutely perfect. The chocolate shake was very yummy. Can’t wait to eat here again. They have a drive thru as well which is good to know. We are accustomed to the original location in Dallas so they have a tall order to fill. So far, it looks promising. Not good for my fat belly, oh well!

I didn’t have a bad experience, but the burger was… well lets just nothing spectacular. Actually I’ve had better at Wendy’s. However, the fries were really good.

Add me to the soggy-bun column. With all the burger choices out there in this town, I can’t imagine why anyone would choose Burger House, except for convenience of location. The burger wasn’t terrible, it was just blah. The fries are not worth your time, and the special seasoning, well, I don’t get it. It’s basically salt. The best thing this place has going for it is the staff. They are very friendly and the service is quick.

I’d passed by this place a couple of times and was curious, so I finally stopped in. It looked like a cool little dive that just might serve a great burger. Blech! Their burgers and fries might taste a ton better if they didn’t drown them in their«famous» seasoning. Gross.

I drive by this place all the time, and the conditions finally came together to give it a try. I wasn’t incredibly hungry, I was in a hurry, I was alone, and I craved a burger and fries. It was average, and beat my very low expectations. It looks live a dive. You get a burger, fries, and soda for $ 6-$ 7. It’s quick. It goes in a category with Top Notch, Dans, Frans, Mighty Fine, etc, and I think it’s better than the fast food places for the same price. Everyone likes a different type of french fry. These were similar to McDonalds with seasoning added. The burger tasted like one you could buy at the supermarket and grill at home, but that takes effort. I can make a sub at home, too, but I never do. You can sit outside, which is surprisingly rare for a burger place. It was reasonably crowded at 12:30 on Wednesday, but the manager made it a point to greet me, ask if it was my first time there, and then followed up partway through my meal. Most of the people in there were eating alone. So, if I didn’t live in the neighborhood, I would never go there. Even being within walking distance, I will hardly ever go there. There’s many better burger places around town. For what it is, it’s OK, though. There’s tons of restaurants I’ve gone to once and won’t return to.

How do you screw up a simple hamburger? Maybe you overly season the meat. Or perhaps the quality of meat is such that little nuggets of gristle or whatever those things are end up in someone’s meat patty. Oh and the price? Not really so great – because, to really make it taste decent you have to add the grilled onions, cheese, bacon, jalapenos(at an additional cost) and by then you’ve got an expensive crummy burger. I can make a better burger than this wearing a blindfold drinking tequila shots in my kitchen. The fries are too highly seasoned and there is literally no ambiance. Plus, if you are a business that is one block from the neighborhood high school you might have thought twice when you said you would not buy a $ 25.00 advertisement in the sports program. Two stars.(One because my kid likes to eat here). UPDATE: So the owner sent me a message and explained he had fired his general manager who apparently dropped the ball on community outreach and working with the neighborhood schools. He explained that community outreach was a big part of Burger House’s philosophy and has offered to host a fundraiser for the lacrosse club. Awesome. In turn, I promised that I would try the chicken sandwich since I was not too crazy about the burgers. Today I had the Zoe’s chicken sandwich supreme and it was very good. It came dolled up with bacon strips, grilled onions and swiss cheese served with fries, and I can get those without all the salt for a total of $ 6.00. On little problem though, the bun was soggy – I think other reviewers have complained about this. Next time I will have them hold the mayo. I do hope he follows through on the fundraiser… it’s been almost a month… no returned call.

Stopped by for a burger. My bun was soggy, the fries are covered in chilli powder(yuk!). Here’s the kicker, the meat had NOFLAVOR, the lettuce was wilted and on my first bite I almost chipped a tooth on a nasty, hard piece of fatty gristle. Grossed out, I threw it away. Won’t be back. I now remember thinking«What’s the big deal?» back as a child in Dallas where everyone raved about Jack’s Burger House across from SMU, the memories came rushing back…

I grew up in Dallas with the original, so I also compare it with that one. It has the same seasoning, which some people don’t seem to like. In my opinion, they don’t use enough on the fries. That’s the only thing that makes them good, so I like to load it on. The burgers are decent, but I think Hut’s or Casino are as good or better. The prices are reasonable, not super cheap or too expensive. It’s difficult to say whether I would recommend eating in or out. It is nice to sit on the patio when the weather is nice, and to be able to season your fries accordingly. Also, it helps to eat your burger immediately, as the bun will get soggy quick. However, yesterday, like in Dallas, the abundance of sorority girls made me want to take my burger and run screaming out of the place. Seriously, there was a whole conversation that went something like this, «Smell my cell phone. Does it smell like something to you?» I felt stupider for having listened. Usually they don’t stray so far from West Campus, but on weekend mornings, I guess they like to take field trips to nurse their hangovers.

In a age where Health is a issue in every place you go sometimes its hard to find a good olé fashion Burger. This place looked like a hole in a wall, family owned, and no where near clean, it was a ideal place to find a greasy burger to hit the spot. Instead it totally missed, dry burger, not fresh veggies, and horrible service. «Famous fries» After having 1, i said«famously the suk»

I went with a group of guys from work and had never heard of the burger house. My first impressions, which turned out to be their seasonings, was that it smelled like a high school locker room. I guess that’s what happens when your seasonings are onion and black pepper. So the B.O. smell was thier seasonings, how… intriguing. So I order my burger and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was very pleased to see the prices. Very cheap. So when the burger arrived it was actually pretty good. So if you can get past the smell of the seasoning you’ll find a pretty good tasting cheap burger.

i was not impressed by any one thing that this place did. the fries were suppossed to be the attraction with the seasoning and so on. honestly i think even short stop trumps burger house. two stars for a very average burger. its up on wendy’s but below the aforementioned short stop and a long long long way from the billy’s, hut’s, dirty’s etc. i won’t even mention that place on sixth in the same sentence. go if it is close because average is better than most. but you could get wallybanged next door if you want something better.

A longtime Dallas staple, Burger House was known for their special seasoning and crisp hot fries. The new Austin location delivers on everything I came to expect in Dallas. This is the best fast food burger east of Phoenix(In N Out — I’m looking at you). Order it any way you like it — I prefer grilled onions and thousand island — make sure to shake some seasoning on the fries and burger first, then take that delicious greasy burger and enjoy. Another secret of theirs is they dab butter on and grill the bun. The fact that I took a trip to cheeseburger paradise for $ 3.95 is icing on the cake.

I love the cherry shakes here — made with real ice ream and milk — just the right thickness so you won’t get brain freeze. burgers here are pretty good too. the fries and the onion rings — are okay — i am not really a fan of that seasoning which oddly seems like the same seasoning that’s used at red robin. gets pretty busy here on the weekends… there’s outdoor seating if its nice.
