I cannot show myself in public without well groomed eyebrows. I have been getting them done since I was 12(thanks to hairy lineage) and have visited hundreds of nail salons because I tend to move around a lot. That being said, I recently moved to the area and needed a wax. I walked in and waited about 20 minutes. When the lady took me back she found the need to tell me my eyebrows were horrible. Well no kidding, that’s why I am here! I brushed it off and proceeded to let her wax my eyebrows. I could tell from the first strip it would be too hot but she proceeded to continue with even hotter wax even after I told her to please cool it down. Needless to say, I left with a bad wax job which I had to immediately pluck to salvage and am just now able to peel back the scab from the burn she left me. This is not an acceptable place to get a wax no matter how cheap you are. Avoid!

I think Angela seems to be missing the fact that you do not go to an $ 8 brow appointment expecting to have an artist work with your facial contours. You run in for a quick clean up and then they thankfully get you out and on your way in 5 minutes. Clean place. Nice people. Pretty nails. Check plus.

I was a walk-in at Bee Cave Spa & Nails today. The technicians there were all very busy with manis and pedis, but the woman who told me to write my name down on the list took me to the back right away. It was a very small room with a cushioned table covered with a lime green towel on top and a purple towel on bottom. I should have walked away then, but I have been given excellent service in less chic atmospheres. The woman immediately spread the scalding hot wax on the bottom part of my eyebrow. It was WAY too hot. She was gentle, however, and immediately massaged my brow after pulling the wax paper off. She was done with my right brow in about 3 minutes. She let me look in the mirror to see if it met my expectation. I wasn’t impressed, but I also believe that the brows are an art. The duty of a technician is to SHAPE my brow to accentuate my natural features, not just pull the wild hairs out from around the main eye brow. I didn’t believe I would be able to communicate this to her effectively since her English wasn’t the best so I just said«Sure. It looks fine.» She proceeded to the next brow and was done in about 2 minutes. I had to ask her to wax in between the brows. She never used the magnified glass and light to perfect the arches or find the light colored hairs that like to grow right on the edge of the corner. Oh well. It was a total of $ 10, so I guess the old adage of «you get what you pay for» was truly in effect for me. My brows don’t look as out of control as they did when I went in, but there was NO art to what she did, and I won’t go back.
