Amanda Eggimann is an amazing colorist and stylist. She can work her magic on any type of texture(natural sistahs, relaxed ladies, curly queens, and baby fine hair vixens) and Not to the detriment of your hair. She’s colored my hair very light and now dark. She’s extremely knowledgable on products and uses a line that is amazing! Look at her Unilocal reviews at Method Hair Salon. She’s a master at coloring and cutting but also a student in making sure she’s educated with all the latest, greatest techniques and knowledge of all things hair. You will not be disappointed.

Amanda recently moved to Peacock from another salon and I came with! I actually take time off work and drive from San Antonio all the way to Austin just so she can work her magic on my hair. Once you find that one person who takes pride in her work, knows what the f* she’s doing, is the ultimate professional and super sweet, there’s no going back! I have trust issues when it comes to my hair but when I sit down on her chair, totally relaxed, looking forward to an awesome conversation, and she asks«what are we working on today», the words«whatever you want and think needs to be done» just roll of my tongue. And that is priceless! Even more priceless than that? Ever since she started cutting my hair, over two years ago, I’ve never had to brush it! I sh*t you not my friends! the closest I come to that is running my fingers through my conditioned hair in the shower to get rid of any crazy knots. Once I step out of the shower, I put some motion lotion from Kevin Murphy(super natural, paraben free products that Amanda introduced me to, of course), run it through my hair and that’s it! It somehow airs dry all fabulous. People compliment me a LOT on my hair and I always credit Amanda and her genius cuts. Oh, and have I mentioned her color techniques are badassssssss!!! She does my highlights in such a way that when they start growing out they look even prettier! So you’re not needing a retouch every few weeks. If you are tired of being a slave to your hair, if you want to embrace your natural beauty, if you drool with envy every time you see that chick with beachy, effortless waves or if you just need a good freaking haircut, book an appointment with Amanda. The only downside to seeing her is that you will be ruined for life… you won’t want anybody else touching your hair again. Ever.

I’ve been going to Amanda Eggimann for about a couple of years now and previously I was so frustrated w/my hair. Having her cut my hair has made my hair really low-maintenance and manageable(and a lot healthier). Prior to going to Amanda, I got pretty regular brazilian blowouts that stopped working so well after a while and I had given up on my hair. She really is the only hair stylist I’ve been to that understands how to cut thick and/or curly/wavy hair. Also, her haircuts grow out really well and you don’t need frequent trims. I’m also pretty sure that she may be missing out on some(or a lot of) reviews because people are afraid she’ll get super busy and it will be hard to get an appointment, but you should definitely try to get an appointment, and since she’s moved to Peacock, I think she has a lot more schedule flexibility to work within. She’s great and I never write Unilocal reviews, but its truly a hair-life changing experience, and I feel like it’s good karma to spread the word so other people can experience how much easier Amanda will make your life(and you’ll also get a ton of compliments on your hair w/o any work). I’ve recommended family and friends from all over Texas to schedule haircuts w/her and plan trips around it. It’s pretty telling that all of the reviews on here are for 5 stars — I can’t imagine someone being fair and giving her anything less.

Two years ago I wrote the review below about Amanda when I was first blessed by finding her at Method. Since then I have seen her every 12-ish weeks and have never gone to another hair stylist. Everything I said below has remained true for over two years and I will continue seeing Amanda until I no longer have hair left on my head(which will hopefully not be any time soon). I have never in my life received so many compliments on my hair as I have since seeing Amanda. And people are always dumbfounded when I say, «Yeah, I pretty much wash it, let it air dry, and this is how it looks!» She has taught me how to embrace and love my hair, something no other stylist has accomplished! I could go on and on about how amazing she is, but then I’d sound like a weirdo… Soooo… my old review below: Reasons why Amanda Eggimann and I are a perfect fit: 1. I’m lazy yet still want awesome hair. She believes in awesome yet low-maintenance haircuts. 2. I’m a moron when it comes to hair. She teaches and guides every step of the way. 3. I like awesome people. She is an awesome person. Every hair stylist I’ve ever been to spends about a minute or so talking about what you want done to your hair before they start cutting. Amanda spent about 15 minutes getting to know me, my hair, my routine, and what I was looking for. No joke, it was one of the best experiences I’ve had getting my haircut ever. The place is easy to get to, super cute, everyone there was friendly(and duh, Amanda rocked mah socks). Not only did she give me a kick-ass haircut that is basically wash n’ go, but she also passed on a LOT of helpful information on how to maintain my cut and keep my hair healthy. I left the salon happier and smarter than I walked in.

I’ve been seeing Amanda for two years and in 28 years this is the only time in my life that strangers have consistently told me how much they like my hair — at the airport, at restaurants, even walking out of the Target bathroom! Amanda has an expert knowledge of her craft. She is thorough, has an amazing eye for detail and on top of all of that she is a great person and fun to be around.

I moved here from New York and Amanda Eggimann made my transition fantastic by giving me great hair! As a colorist, she not only pays attention to what works with your skin/eyes, but also what works for your lifestyle. I was a blondie blonde gal during our early days. Then when I became a mama and couldn’t handle the upkeep, she brought my color down to a lovely highlighted darker blonde. In fact, she’s the one who suggested this and made me feel confident about going dark after years as a blonde – it was something I alway wanted to try and she was the colorist to take me there. Even more amazing about Amanda is her gift for haircutting. She is an absolute master at working with your natural texture. I always wanted to be a curly girl but I’m a wavy, often just a frizzy, girl. Guess what? Amanda gets me luscious waves and yes, even lovely curls with her cuts. Apparently I’m the curly girl I always wanted to be, I just hadn’t found the right stylist! And she is ALLABOUT low maintenance. She showed me how to do wash and wear hair usual a minimal amount of product. Some days, I don’t even use product – just some conditioner to tame the frizz(she taught me this trick, of course). She is truly the best stylist in Austin and this is why I’m following her to her new salon and why I will follow her just about anywhere…

This is my review of Amanda from 2011 when I first got my hair cut by her at another salon. It was amazing then and based on her success, she’s only gotten better. The only bad thing I can say is that her cuts are pretty expensive, but if I weren’t a grad student and could afford it, it would be worth every penny! 9÷14÷2011: «I just moved to Austin and I spent quite a bit of time online looking for a new salon and found a salon two blocks from my house. Method.Hair. One of the stylists, Amanda, specializes in natural hair and cutting your hair so it enhances your natural features. I have really fine, really straight hair and when it grows past my shoulders, it gets Cher straight(and limp). And I’d like to live in the present day. So I found a pic online and brought it in. As I was describing what I wanted to her, she said that is exactly how she would do it. Subtle layers, no choppiness, length just below the chin. She meticulously cut my hair wet and then blow-dried it with her fingers. When I commented on the lack of round brush, she said, „Well this is how you would do it.“ Why, yes. Yes it is. I can usually find a good cut, but since my hair is so fine a round brush makes it absolutely unbearable for the rest of the day. And because she let it dry naturally, she was able to adjust the length according to how my hair curls under(or doesn’t). She also sold me on trying to wash my hair every other day and spending some money on their petroleum free, completely natural hair care products, by explaining the science behind them, not by telling my how good it smelled(which it does). So long story short(or not), it was a great haircut. The most drastic change I’ve done in a while, but totally worth it. I’ll be doing back.»

Amanda is the BEST. I have curly hair that I had straightened FOREVER… Amanda showed me how amazing my curly hair could look. Now, I marvel that I ever spent all that time and effort straightening my hair when it looks so cute curly! The first time I went, she spent almost a half hour talking to me about my hair before she even began to cut. Now, I can’t wait until my next haircut!(The irony, of course, is that her haircuts are so good, they last much longer than normal haircuts, so I don’t get to go as often. Although her haircuts are more expensive, on average I am actually not spending any more because I go less often!)

Amanda is terrific. I’ve never had my hair cut by the same person twice, and I’ve been seeing her for about two years now. She understands curls. It’s funny how little routines likes this can make a city feel like a home. Thanks Amanda!

Below is an edited version of my original review of Amanda’s work from when she was at another salon. If you’re not familiar with her — she specializes in working with your hair’s natural wave and texture and cutting it in a way that allows you to do as little styling as possible. I really didn’t believe it was possible when I first saw her, because I hated my weird half-ass waves and how my hair looked when it was just air dried. I’ve been to her as recently as a few weeks ago and everything below still stands true. When I keep up my cut, I do not need to use a blow dryer or styling tools on my hair. As I was letting my hair grow out last year, I ended up not seeing Amanda for maybe 8 months or so, and near the end of that time, I was spending so much time on my hair — blow drying and flat ironing or curling with a wand, as my hair had grown from mid-neck to past my shoulder. The damage from all of this had started to show, and I was counting the days until I was going to see Amanda again. She is also still at a Kevin Murphy salon, which is good because I really like Kevin Murphy products. I also went into her online booking tool(thank god for that) and noticed there were plenty of appointments available, this month and next(mostly days, not as many evenings), so perhaps if you act quickly you won’t have to wait a long time to get in to see her :) It will by no means be a cheap hair cut, but will totally be worth it! I’ve learned over the years that if it costs $ 45, it’ll probably look like it cost $ 45. ***** Amanda E. cuts hair like a freaking boss. And she’s super nice, to boot. My cut held up perfectly as my hair grew, and really, I could have left it longer, but I needed my bangs cut(they offer free dry trims, but I live far away so I didn’t get my bangs cut at all between appts), and I just wanted to be back at the salon, getting my hair did up with awesome products and Amanda’s magic hands. The only problem is Amanda is so freaking awesome that she’s booking at least 10 weeks out, so getting my hair cut by her requires a lot of advance planning. But since it grows out well, and bang trims are free, it’s still totally doable and worth it. I have not used a flat iron or blow-dried anything but my bangs since January when I first saw Amanda. This is amazing. I feel like I deserve a sobriety chip for this, and Amanda deserves some kind of medal for helping to unlock my hair’s natural potential and freeing me from the chains of a multi-step, hours long shower/getting ready ritual.
