This place is Amazing. The best Gyros hands down. The Greek Salad was sooooo delicious. Fantastic Service. My family and I will definitely be back. Love supporting small business. Totally recommend this restaurant.

I’m in Gyros and Baklava heaven. Sami Alasi the owner greeted us warmly when we arrived. I had the Roman Gyro, which adds feta cheese to the standard gyro. Spouse had the chicken gyro and a ‘183 Salad’ a mixed salad with walnuts, dried cranberries and Gorgonzola. Both gyros had a nice portion of meat with crisp veggies on on a soft warm pita. The salad was fresh and tasty. We shared an order of baklava, with two large pieces. The décor was calming making for easy conversation, and the background music was great. Tea refills were offered frequently. We want to go back and try some other items. The menu is not extensive. It features burgers for those who aren’t wanting gyros or falafel. This place is a nice addition to the neighborhood, located in the step center between the FedEx Store and Cover 2. Look for the giant red decal on the front window — it’s hard to miss. It’s nice to see this family-run place in the land of McDonalds and Long John Silvers. Go check it out.

My husband and I stopped in today for the first time. Let me just say this: WONDERFUL! We shared a 183 salad. Everything was fresh and you could tell that it wasn’t pre-made and just waiting to be pulled out of the fridge. Then we each had a gyro. I can’t remember what his was, but mine was the chicken. The pita was warm and soft. The veggies were crisp and cold. The chicken was hot, tender, and delicious. The tadziki sauce was a perfect compliment. Everything was perfectly prepared. But wait, there’s more! Baklava for desert. Oh so very yummy!!! Do. Not. Skip. Dessert. The owner/chef was so friendly and cordial. We will definitely be back for more!!!

I went to this little gem with a friend from Houston and it was just great — the food was so good! We were a little concerned at first because we walked in at 4 p.m. and were literally the only guests. The host(maybe the owner?) seated us and was a really nice guy. I had a traditional gyro and some fries and my friend had the grilled chicken cilantro entrée. The salad she had was super fresh, as were the veggies in my gyro. We were both impressed with the quality and how well cooked the chicken was — juicy and not tough. My gyro was delicious. Definitely the best gyro I’ve had in Austin and rivaling anything I’ve *ever* had. The fries were pretty average — nothing special. Even though their menu is small, they seem to really specialize and do it right for what they do have. I prefer it that way. I’ll definitely be back again. They also do to-go orders, so I might check that out next.

Great Gyros & very friendly staff. My wife & I frequent this place for takeout when we need something quick and reasonably healthy in Northwest Austin.

I am so happy my husband and I found this place. We came in for dinner tonight based on other Unilocal reviews, and we were not disappointed. The owner was so personable, attentive, and kind. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. The hibiscus tea was AMAZING, and don’t even get me started with the Baklava… So yummy! Don’t hesitate to try this place — you will be glad you did! Needless to say, we can’t wait to come back!

Was headed out of town and ran by to grab some carbs to stuff down my face on the road. Service was super fast and super nice. Food was great! Got a gyro meat thing with fries. Threw the fries out because we know better — would have appreciated a different side, but it’s not all about me. I guess some people still eat fries. Great people, really nice part of the neighborhood. Support your locals!

Man, its hard finding good food places with reasonable prices that’s actually good! 183 Grill is quality(from fresh ingredients to taste). Definitely going back again for lunch. BTW…the owner is really cool

I have been driving by 183 grill on my way home for several months. My wife and I decided to try it tonight. It is nice inside and the food is really good. I had a cheeseburger and fries, and my wife had a gyro. The food was fresh and hot. It is nice to find a locally owned neighborhood restaurant with great food to eat in or take out. Give it a try, you will be glad you did.

A Halal place that serves complementary wine — talk about trying to cater to the entire market! A sign of a good Mediterranean/Greek place is the falafel — make no mistake these were no home made falafel. They were hard, chewy and lacked taste(vs. soft and flavorful). Disappointed! 6 for $ 5.99 came with flat bread and tahini sauce. Now I know why Verts keeps boasting they are different and continue to grow in Austin. Update 10/08/2015. Downgraded to 1 star after owner response below. Unprofessional and in denial, with no sense of customer service. I was going to go back for a burger sometime but you killed that too! Do you really think personally attacking a person is going to make your falafel taste better? It’s not. Want more business? Improve your recipe. Otherwise your place is going to stay empty like it was at peak lunch hour.

Came here on a thursday night… Only us and one other couple. The guy that owns this place seems to run the front and the kitchen on his own so we appreciated his hard work. If you come and aren’t greeted immediately, just wait a bit. The falafel was delicious and fresh. We both had gyros which had some pretty delicious flavor for a reasonable price. serving size was good. Would definitelycome back!

These guys have a small menu consisting of burgers, gyros, salads, soup, a salmon plate and a chicken breast plate, and, some appetizers. Some items are a little on the pricy side. I went in for lunch and got the lunch combo. It was a choice between traditional and chicken gyro. I went with traditional. The lunch combo was $ 7.99 and included fries. Firstly I’ll point out that the dining area is open. This used to be a rug store so it’s not all that big, but, big enough to serve its purpose. The temperature in the room was a bit warm and when we pointed it out to the waitress she agreed. She said their AC was on max and moved us to another table towards the back where it was a little cooler. As for the gyro neither of us were that impressed. All the ingredients tasted good, but, the ratio’s were off. All I kept thinking about was that old Wendy’s commercial«Where’s The Beef?». In this case«Where’s the [gyro] meat?». They went skimpy on the meat. It is cut into bite sized pieces and gets drowned out by excess pita bread and lettuce. The sandwich got real dry and a bit difficult to swallow. I ended up opening it up and eating the ingredients like a salad. :( I don’t think there’s anything here that sets these guys apart from their competitors. Certainly nothing here that makes me wanna go back. I think I need to revisit Tino’s.

Good food at a place I would not have thought of if it wasn’t for Unilocal! Searched Unilocal!and found the 183 Grill. not disappointed. Out of all the businesses on this side of the strip center I would have never thought that I would get a good meal in a quiet atmosphere, but I did. The place is still new and it is very comfortable. The music swayed to the sound of classic Frank Sinatra and the young waiter was fresh in his new job; you could tell by the frequent table checks and small talk he was learning.(nothing wrong with that as he was motivated) I ordered the Dolma and the Classic Gyro with Greek side salad and they were honestly good, fresh, and served well. The Dolma’s had that nice mint and olive oil flavor you enjoy about eating stuffed grape leaves and the Gyro(with Greek side salad) was served on a fresh warm pita bread, with warm gyro meat, and fresh crisp tomatoes with clean and cool garlic sauce. It seems that this would be a good lunchtime spot when I am in the area, though I was here for dinner and it seemed that people were placing«to go» orders and picking them up. I like the food and the new small charm that the place has and honestly if it would not have been for Unilocal!I probably would not have known it was here. Thank you Unilocal!and thank you 183 Grill, I will see you again when I am back in the area.

Just opened on Aug 1, 2015 We were the only patrons at 5pm. We stumbled onto this place while in this part of town and decided to give it a try. We order the Dolmas(grape leaves) and they were quick to arrive. They were ok… Next we ordered a traditional Gyro and a Roman Gyro. They have a combo special where you can add your soda /tea plus a Salad /Fries. The positive point to make is that they are fast. Once you order, the food was ready, but again only people here. The fries were frozen fries, the salad was a typical house salad…(no olives for a Greek restaurant?) Our waiter spent most of his time behind the counter, so I had to call for him for refills. The décor is very basic. Would I come back, no. I works real close to this location, so I try to find new places to eat.

Enjoyed a gyros sandwich, which came out of the kitchen quickly. The meat and pita bread were warm – the meat juicy, the pita soft – and the tzatziki sauce and veggies cool and fresh. It was handily wrapped in foil for easier eating. I wasn’t interested in having fries with the sandwich, and the staff volunteered to substitute a nice salad for the fries. The tea was refreshing. All in all, a friendly, refreshing dining experience. One tip for finding this gem: It’s on the edge of the shopping center, down the strip/parking lot from the FedEx. Might be hard to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant.
