I’m way late in writing this update, but we had a group of about 25 people do New Years at West & Mill. I don’t remember a whole lot of details, but I remember that everyone was talking about what a mess they were. After about 10 pm or so, there was maybe 4 other people in the restaurant besides our group, and they were serving a set menu which should have made it easy for them, but they just couldn’t get their act together. The first course was served much later than originally scheduled, and dessert wasn’t served until just before midnight — if I remember correctly, there were 4 courses, and there was about 30 minutes between each course. The food was decent, but forgettable. Anyhow, they lost a lot of money that night — if they’d nailed it, a lot of folks that were there probably would return regularly, myself included, and would probably recommend it. As it is, I’m pretty sure none of us has returned.

I came here for a second breakfast… I have been having a lot of second meals lately, and I’m pretty ashamed. But it was an excuse to eat at West & Mill! West & Mill has hipster vibe to it, but is classy at the same time. We were seated by a fireplace on the left side to the entrance(looked like all the outdoor seating was taken). I wanted to order a breakfast cocktail… but not available before noon on Sunday mornings… it was a sad moment. I cheered up as I instead placed an order of bacon and an order of Italian Gritz. My first breakfast I had a veggie omelette so I needed some meaty protein. The bacon came out to be a bit over crisp, but I didn’t mind it, although I prefer less crispiness and more tenderness to my bacon. The grits were good, but nothing special. If I get the chance, I’ll want to try my first(and only) breakfast again on a Saturday when I can actually order some breakfast booze.

West & Mill gets a smiling 3 stars from me. A friend and I found our way to West & Mill primarily because they offer 1000 point open table reservations before 6:30 during the week. The restaurant is located on the West Side of town beside 5 Seasons and it shares the same large parking lot as the brewery. When we arrived, we were literally the only people in the restaurant. We stayed until about 8:30 and only 2 other groups passed through. This always makes me skeptical, but perhaps their lunch or brunch is much busier. The atmosphere is nice. They have a section by a fire place that is mostly sofas, regular tables and an outside patio area that is apparently inhabited by a family of birds. Much to our chagrin, as we walked up we noticed they have half priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays so we couldn’t say no to a $ 13 bottle. We started our meal with a 2 meat and 2 cheese charcuterie board. We had one spicy and one not so spicy meat, a goat cheese and a milder cheese served with toasted bread, Dijon mustard, chutney and grapes. I was pleased with the selection. We also ordered 3 small plates — Mushroom pierogis, asparagus with pancetta and a farm egg, and grilled duck. The asparagus came first and was good. It was served grilled with mushrooms, crispy pancetta and a fried egg over top. Personally, I would have preferred the egg poached, but it was still a good dish. I had never had pierogis before and they are a mix between an empanada and a dumpling. The texture is right between the two, but the fillings are more varied like an empanada(as I was informed by my friend). Ours came stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and oysters. Honestly I didn’t really taste the oyster or the mushroom. Lastly the duck was served with cooked onions and dijon and was my favorite of the three dishes. Highly recommend ordering. Our whole meal + wine + tip only cost about $ 30 each. The service was solid(remember we were the only people in the restaurant). It did take a fairly long time for our dishes to start arriving though. Towards the end of the meal, all of the employees stepped outside so we truly had the place to ourselves. That made the whole experience a little on the odd side. I certainly think there are better tapas places in Atlanta, but for 1000 open table points, it is worth a try.

Nice brunch spot. Amazing service!(Christy was our server) Short menu but tasty items. We had the chicken sausage omelette, French toast, bacon and fries. Everything was fresh and hot and delicious. The Belgian fries were EXCEPTIONAL. Seriously, you need to try them. Also, they are very family friendly(brought crayons and water with a lid for my 3yo). Only reason I docked them a star in my review… Wines were way too expensive and they were out of several. Other than that, you should treat yourself and try them out. We will definitely be back.

I was in town for a networking event at peak brunch hours last Sunday. We had a table reserved for about 10 people and I was the first to show up. I was offered something to drink while I waited for my company. Everyone rolled in about the same time so our table became instantly busy. We all received our first drink relatively fast but then it seems service went downhill from there. It took at least 45 minutes until I got my small order of French toast and a friend of mine was completely forgotten. He received his omelette maybe an hour after he ordered it. We had multiple servers visit our table but it seems the attention was spread across the restaurant leaving a lot of us confused on who to ask for service. Considering the price of the food I wouldn’t say it matched the quality. It looked pretty but I was starving at that point so it was not filling. My visit was business based so thankfully I was caught up in good conversation. I wouldn’t visit again unless it was on a very slow day.

Something is off here. I should have went directly to Allison C’s review but I went with the overall average paired with no wait for a Saturday brunch, and dove in. So underwhelming. This place has so much potential too. It’s lovely to look at with a nice area with seating outside for a gorgeous day, a fireplace with couch seating right when you walk in, a great bar area, huge old time doors in the middle of the place that add to the shabby upscale chic décor. I thought we were in for a great brunch and then the service happened… or didn’t happen. Kourtney was our sever and the most lack luster server you could ever imagine. No pep in her step, no info on the menu, no suggestions, late drinks, no silverware, took forever for drinks, forgot items we ordered, really just terrible service overall. Not sure how they got this so wrong. The place was pretty dead so it’s not like they were understaffed. When I walked in to request utensils, her and the gentleman who seated us were right behind the bar and assisted immediately but still, after that, the service was still horrific. Onto the food. Went with a latte to start. It was okay, more on the bitter side than I enjoy. Fries — highlight of the experience and meal. They are breaded and double fried and were served piping hot! Score! They were not very heavy either, quite light for all the flavor they held. I could have eaten these for my meal. Shrimp & Grits — really not much flavor at all. The shrimp came with their tails on too so I had to dissect before I dove in. I do give props for the size and plumpness of the shrimp… just wish there was more flavor. The grits were okay in texture but could have been a bit more thick for my tasting and the flavor, like I mentioned, just not there. I do wish this place some positive vibes and hope they are paying attention to their lack of service!

This was my second time eating here(first for brunch, then for dinner). I would reiterate what some others have said, namely that the service needs to be improved. Our waiter was nice but very rushed and seemed flustered, almost nervous. I wondered if they were understaffed. The menu changes daily and 2 of us received outdated menus, which we discovered when we tried to order entrees that were no longer offered. At one point, a side was delivered to our table incorrectly and it later showed up on the bill. In addition, we were charged for one extra drink. Our waiter quickly resolved the errors but something seems off with the service. I really enjoyed my salad and salmon(and glasses of sangria). My boyfriend had the steak frites and the fries were good, but his meat was of subpar quality. Our friends were iffy on their selections as well. One of our desserts was very good and the other, supposedly a white chocolate soufflé, had a very weird consistency. I would hesitate to recommend this place because of its inconsistencies. I may try it in a month or so in the hopes they work out their glitches.

After reading the great reviews on Unilocal,we decided to check this place out. We had a very good first impression of the modern, minimalist décor. We were seated next to the fireplace, which is very cozy. The food is good but nothing special. I ordered the Belgian Fries(what was I thinking?!?) and mushroom pierogies. The fries tasted like… well…fries. texture was slightly on the soggy side. The curried ketchup and mayonnaise tasted like something that I can recreate easily. The special BBQ sauce was just a very sweet version of BBQ sauce. The pierogies are slightly more interesting, but the(ricotta?) cheese and thick dough totally overwhelmed the mushroom filling. Wife’s salmon was perfectly cooked but the taste was so ordinary that she didn’t bother to let me try. HOWEVER, the eggplant crisp on the plate was absolutely heavenly! Crispy flavorful exterior with soft creamy interior… yummmm! It took us about 30 minutes to get our food although the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived(about 5 tables were occupied). We were in a hurry to go somewhere, so no time for dessert. The service was good… but again, nothing special. Overall, it’s really a «ho-hum» experience. Given so many good restaurants out there, I just don’t see why I should spend my time and money here again.

Great location. This was my first time here and I tried the burger. The service was good but the burger might be a tad overpriced for what it was. I have it a 4 star due to the Scout Mob deal otherwise I might have given it a 3. Will I be back? Probably with a discount but not full price.

West & Mill is a great little neighborhood eatery located in Atlanta’s West Midtown district. I’ve been here for brunch, lunch and dinner. The menu is pretty concise, which I think is a good thing since it doesn’t overwhelm the kitchen. I’m really rooting for this place to succeed. The staff is friendly and always helpful. For brunch, the short-rib hash is a good choice if you’re looking for something hearty and filling. The meat is tender and flavorful. A side of polenta with cheese is a good accompaniment. The Pain Perdu, which is basically french bread, is served with fresh strawberries and blackberries. For lunch, standard bistro fare dominates. On my visit, the salmon lox made a nice and light lunch. For dinner, the pierogis are a signature dish.

I stopped in for brunch with a friend last weekend. We needed a place close to midtown that wasn’t too jam packed. I would normally go to West Egg if I’m in the mood for brunch food, but I’m not willing to wait an hour plus for brunch. So we headed down the street to West & Mill. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon so we opted to sit outside on the patio. The place wasn’t really busy at all. I think that everyone was sitting outside on the patio and the inside was pretty empty. They were really nice and moved our table a few feet in order to put us in the shade. I ordered a sangria to drink and the croque madame for my meal. My friend had the french toast. The croque madame is essentially a fancy ham and cheese with bechamel sauce and a sunny side up egg on top of the sandwich. The sandwich also comes with fries(not mentioned on the menu). I am a huge fan of croque monsieur sandwiches(no egg involved) so I was looking forward to this. The sandwich was really good. It had a good ratio of ham, cheese and bechamel sauce. The gooey egg completed the sandwich perfectly. The fries were just so-so. I was able to try a bite of my friend’s french toast and thought it was really good as well. Service was really good while we were there. Very attentive, but we didn’t feel smothered. This is a great alternative to many of the brunch places around town that have super long waits.

Ya’ll know I’m stingy with the 5-star ratings though, right? I ended up here because my mechanic’s shop was closed due to rain, and since I was already out and about I decided to treat myself to lunch on a Scout Mob deal. So the deal ended a few weeks ago lol. But since I was already here I was like«What the hell…» This is such a cute little place! It has an open layout, cute little flowers on the tables and plenty of outdoor seating. The real 5-star experience came from the service and the food though. My server(who turned out to be the GM!) was so gracious! He let me sample the beef/veggei soup while I waited, which was EXCELLENT! I was also lucky enough to be able to sample the open-face smoked salmon sandwich, and let me tell you… THAT was so good it didn’t make no damn sense! It was topped with a generous helping of very fresh greens on crispy thin bread… This sandwich was serious business! The cole slaw was really good too… different. I’m extremely pleased with my experience here. I’ll definitely be returning in the future. Kudos, W&M!

Went to West and Mill’s Bistro Bar for Sunday Brunch. They open at 10 and are relative quiet at 10:30. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. The indoor area has a couch/sofa area and a regular diningroom. We chose the regular diningroom. The menu is limited but has very fresh dishes. My better half ordered the egg platter(over easy medium) with sausage and toast. I had the chicken omelet. The over easy eggs came out overcooked but otherwise the food was well prepared and very tasty. The service at Sunday morning, with few customers was very slow. It took the waiter 5 minutes to greet us and another 10 minutes to get us coffee. The dishes came out slowly and we had to ask to get a refill on the coffee. Expect great food and slow service. If you have the time, this is a great place to enjoy brunch before you explore the rest of the west side fashion district. The prices are very reasonable

I went to West & Mill Bistro last night with a group of friends for a pre-concert dinner. We were the only ones there when we arrived which raised suspicions as to the quality of the food. The décor is minimalist cool, which is to be expected in this trendy area of Atlanta. We ordered several tapas and shared them. We all enjoyed the offerings. Why isn’t this place packed with diners? Definitely order the Charcuterie — the cheese & meats selection are delicious. Also, their fries with the Green Goddess sauce are addictive.

I stopped in here for a quick lunch before getting my nails done across the street at Nouvelle. The place was practically deserted, so I had my choice of tables. I ended up getting the avocado BLT on sourdough bread. The bread was a very poor choice on my part. I felt like I was wrestling with the sandwich to get a bite. Also, the avocado was slightly brown. The fries were good, the right amount of salty and crispy. The service was pleasant, but a bit slow given how empty the restaurant was. I’d be willing to try it again, though perhaps I’ll try one of the brunch options instead.

I went to this fine bistro last Friday, and was surprised it wasn’t busier. We are eager to return when this summer and sit on the patio. The cocktails recipes are well designed. By sticking to the small plate options, it was like have a three course, two-hour meal. The mussels were perfect, as was the tuna tartar with capers. I also suggest the duck and anything with the creamy, warm goat cheese. The waiter staff was polite, but also fun. The only negative was that I was dissappointed in the soufflé. However, for the quality, the pricing was reasonable.

Delicious and giant bowl of duck pappardelle… I would return just for this dish, though it looks like they have a tasty looking menu of entrees, small plates, desserts and craft cocktails. I was eyeing the bacon pierogies, some of the seasonal entrees, and many of the desserts, so I’ll have to return to try them. Used a Scoutmob on my visit, but even without it, it would have been a good deal, given the extra large size of the entrée. Atmosphere…I didn’t find the place cozy or cool… it was more of a mishmash of the concrete industrial steel type of space, with hard uncomfortable chairs and some random shabby chic accents. With a corner location across the street from Octane, you would expect a larger cooler space, but somehow, the seating is a little limited, due to the loungy couch area behind the hostess stand. Service was attentive, different from what other Unilocalers describe. Food definitely drives the stars in this review.

I tried for lunch and used a Scoutmob. It wasn’t very crowded when I entered at 1pm so service was fine. It was a good place to have a casual lunch, free wi-fi and get some work completed. I ordered the french onion soup, croque monsieur with the fries(because other reviewers raved about the fries — I had to know). The french onion soup was delicious — plenty of bread, cheese, onions, flavor. I like that the have two different sizes. It has been awhile since I have had FOS, so I was able to get my fill. The croque monsieur was very good too. The ham was thinly sliced, full of flavor and nicely complemented by the well-toasted bread and gruyère. I agree with others, the fries are addictive. Their secret? Double battered is what i heard. That means double tasty too. I would definitely return because I have to try the pierogies. Its my heritage!

Thursday night for dinner. In addition to their normal menu, they also had some specials listed which we tried(the lamb and the potatoes). We decided to just get 4 small plates and share. Remember these are all small dishes so don’t expect entrée sized portions if you order these. Lamb: Delicious. I believe you get 5 lamb chops along with peas/orange mush in a sauce that I can’t quite put my finger on. Pierogis with bacon: Boyfriend is in love. I think I have to buy these for him on a regular basis now. They are fried and sprinkled with bacon on top. Mixed Green Salad: I was trying to be healthy so I ordered this, although the fried goat cheese croquette probably destroyed any hope of that. The salad is basically greens with cheese/walnuts sprinkled and some sort of vinaigrette with a kick. The salad tasted much better when you mixed the greens and walnut and goat cheese in one bite. Potatoes au Gratin: Very good. I love potatoes and this is definitely delicious. It’s laid out in a ~3×8 rectangle covered in cheese. Service: Not that many people so the service was fine. Sidenote: There was a bit of a price discrepancy on the menu and the final bill but we got it sorted out without too much of a hassle. Also the décor is airy and bright with lots of glass in a very open space. Also this place is hard to find so get familiar with their logo as you may accidentally pass it on the street. Verdict: May go back to try more of their small plates. Perfect sized portions for indecisive people!

I loved discovering this restaurant. It’s trendy and comfortable. Warm. There are comfy sofas around a real, wood fire. A well-stocked bar with an interesting selection of specialty cocktails.(One of them incorporates a real, edible flower.) And the food! These folks really are looking after the flavor. I had the Braised Short Ribs. It was so good, I had to observe a moment of reverent silence.(I’m not joking.) Served with some scalloped potatoes, mushrooms, and asparagus, this was an exercise in perfection. I also got to try the non-veg pierogies. Those delicious envelopes of food goodness are a hit! So was the salmon tartare. And the duck. Staff was kind enough to serve the Angus Burger to us for dinner(it only appears on the lunch menu). In short, we totally enjoyed everything that arrived at the table. Service matched the excellence of the food. The owner herself came out to say hello and check on things. I learned she is/was a caterer who is taking a leap into the restaurant world. I think she’s knocked it right out of the park. I even got a gift-certificate for my sister.(Shhh. Don’t tell her.) I hear good things about the mussels. And I hear that brunch sometimes has a line out the door. I hope you’ll enjoy this place as much as I did. I’ll be going back soon. Holler if you’re coming with.
