Pretty good cupcakes, sometimes a little dry but their icing is always SO good. I’ve had meetings here on a Saturday morning and it’s a great casual group spot, i.e. book clubs, informal meeting, etc. Like the variety of drinks — coffees, teas, smoothies, etc. I’d like to give a higher rating to support a local independent place, but overall it’s just mediocre. I mean, it’s pretty hard to make so-so cupcakes.

Where to start, where to start?! My friend lives nearby and wanted to grab some coffee and a cupcake. She really wanted a cupcake so we decided to try this place out. It’s located inside the shopping plaza with Publix and Costco. We each ordered a coffee + cupcake. I ordered the chocolate chip/cream cheese cupcake. My friend ordered the caramel drizzle cupcake. I would like to first say I was excited and caved in to my friend’s suggestion hoping I would get some sweets in for the day since I drove across town. BOTH of the cupcakes were very crusty and hard to the bite; like it was over-baked OR has been sitting out for several days. The taste was there, but I wished it was moist and not so dry/crusty. The coffee we had was okay. PRO: decorative interior, clean, friendly service, variety of drinks(coffee, tea, etc.), and an array of pastries(we came for the cuppies, but were let down). CON: dry, crusty cupcakes, which definitely will affect The Cup because that’s one of the main grabbers for the store. parking is also a pain in the butt.

Although I’d like nothing more than to help resurrect the overall rating of this place, I simply can’t bring myself to do so. Consistent with what other reviewers have reported, my recent experience at The Cup can best be summarized as «edible, but forgettable’. They also receive the distinction of serving one of the worst white hot chocolates that I’ve ever ingested– a feat that takes some effort considering that the drink only has two ingredients. Most reviewers appear to be consistent in their complaints, so I’m baffled as to why the management hasn’t processed the fact that there’s a problem. Food: The Cup serves approximately 15 different cupcake flavors, including gluten-free and vegan options. They also offer a variety of other baked goods, including cakes, cookies, and cheesecakes. I opted for the Ciroc red berry cupcake and a white hot chocolate — I also ordered a slice of the carrot cake to take home. Although the cupcake was aesthetically pleasing, the cake portion was virtually flavorless. The carrot cake was equally as underwhelming — complete with random mushy pineapple chunks in the filling. The coup de grace was the white hot chocolate. There wasn’t even a hint of white chocolate — it was essentially just a cup of steamed white milk, which promptly found its way into the dumper after only two sips. Service: There is no table service — all orders are placed at the front counter. Aside from the heinously disastrous food offerings, the girl working the counter was really quite nice. She took the time to describe each of the dessert offerings and was quick to prepare the drinks and pack-up the order. Atmosphere: Quaint, clean, and tastefully decorated. In addition to a handful of tables, the café also has a hightop counter that looks out the front window. All cupcakes are displayed and clearly labeled in a glass case — additional desserts and baked goods are displayed on top of the counter. Cost: Although the cupcake prices are consistent with most other places in the area($ 2.50/each, $ 29/dozen), the price simply isn’t commensurate with the experience or product quality. Other: The Cup is located in the Town Brookhaven Plaza. Hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday, 10AM-9PM, Thursday-Friday, 10AM-10PM, Saturday 9AM-10PM, and Sunday, 10AM-7PM. There is a $ 5 minimum on credit card purchases. Parking is available in the plaza’s garage, which can be accessed to the right of The Cup — additional parking is also available throughout the plaza, although the vast majority of spaces have a two-hour limit.

I have to say — I am not a fan. Being a cupcake baker myself, I am particular, however I enjoy going out and being treated to the occasional cupcake(one I do not have to do all the work to make). That being said, The Cup, which being a good concept, lacks in execution. The cupcakes are wildly over-baked and dry. Peeling off the cupcake papers alone, they came off in tiny pieces and shreds and made a mess on the table. Once we got into eating the cupcakes, they were too crumbly and the flavor just could not make up for the horrible texture. We had the Chocolate Brownie Surprise(Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup baked inside) and Chocolate Chip Cookie Cheesecake(nothing cheesecake-y about this). Save your money and either go to GiGi’s for icing/sugar overload, or bake them yourself. Sorry«The Cup.» Back to the drawing board for you guys.

I’ve been wanting to stop in here after every time we’ve been to Cinebistro, and since they have coffee, cupcakes, and tea, I thought it’d be a good time. The cappuccino was passable. The tea, well, they have Tea Forte. Tea Forte is overpriced even for drinking at home, so $ 2.50 for a cup is a bit outrageous especially when it’s a large cup and you’re only getting one sachet. Luckily I picked out an herbal tea so I let it steep all the way home to have something decent, but the English Breakfast I’d been eyeing would have been a disaster. The water temperature is also WAY too hot for green tea, so if you want a green, definitely ask to put the bag in there yourself or ask them to drop a couple ice cubes in the cup first. As for the cupcake I tried… I’m glad I only tried one. I thought a Peach Ciroc cupcake sounded interesting, so I got it. The cake was horrible, it tasted stale if I didn’t eat it with some icing. The icing was really the only thing with a flavor. I’m not even a big fan of icing, so it pains me to say they could use more on there… like I would hesitate to even call what they do a 25% frosting/75% cake ratio. I didn’t even finish the cupcake because of that. The people working here were nice but sadly it was not a good cupcake.

I like the location, the decoration and seating layout. However, the cupcakes are just okay. I have tried 5 different flavor. None of them can be called impressive. The thing disappointed me the most is coffee. I know I didn’t order specialty coffee, but it doesn’t mean the ‘regular brew coffee’ can be this cold. It has been sitting more than several hours. The server has great smile though.

Moist cupcakes are a must! After my recent venture to the Town Brookhaven I’ve found a new guilty pleasure… a chocolate chip cupcake! In the days where any and everyone is making cupcakes it’s nice to see specialty flavors and designs that deviate from the average red velvet cake. Although i only tried one cupcake I was impressed with the taste because it was truly like a chocolate chip cookie in a cupcake with cream cheese filling and frosting. A credit card minimum of $ 5 dwindles my rating from a 4 star to a 3 star. In the days where most people in Atlanta swipe and carry little to no cash it would be great if there wasn’t a credit card minimum. So if you go and you just want a cupcake, take cash.

The cupcakes were just okay. I had the Red Velvet and the Asha Cake. The Red Velvet was kind of on the dryer side… not as moist as some others I’ve had. I can also see what other Unilocalers mean when they say that the cakes are flavorless. The RV cake was not very sweet, which is a good thing, b/c i can’t stand overly sweet cupcakes. But… I also could not taste a hint of chocolate either. If you’ve ever baked Red Velvet cupcakes or at least looked a classic recipe for it, you’ll realize that RV cupcakes are basically a Devil’s Food cake recipe(which is chocolate cake, but less intense as a normal chocolate cake), with the added red food coloring paired with a cream cheese frosting. The frosting on my cupcake was decent… no complaints there. The Asha Cake was way too sweet for my taste. The cake was also kind of dry like the RV. The Heath bar crumbles were a good complement to the vanilla cake and whipped cream frosting, but overall, I just didn’t like it. The prices for the cupcakes are $ 2.75, which is reasonable in comparison to other places in the area. However, I also ordered a Tea Forte«tea for 2,» and it was $ 5.99 for a medium sized pitcher of tea for my friend and me. I thought it was definitely overpriced for a bagged tea… even if it is Tea Forte.

This is one of the better cupcake places in this price range that I been to in Atlanta. The Cup can still hold their own compared to many other places — even in the higher price range. Unlike some places — this establishment does not overwhelm with frosting that adds to the additional calories or sugar that you can probably do without. Given the fact that I have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, it has been very difficult for me to find Gluten Free cupcakes that taste like the«real thing». Let me assure you that if you need to have a Gluten Free cupcake — please come here and grab a GF Red Velvet cupcake. It’s moist, full of flavor, and has just the right amount of frosting to keep you smiling for a few hours. Best of all, it won’t break the bank — and you’ll still have money left over for coffee. We also had the key lime cupcake — which stayed moist until the next day. It was delightful to see that it had an appetizing green cake on the inside and tasted very refreshing. As a minor recommendation — the key lime cupcake should have a little more cake and just a little bit less frosting. Perhaps topping it with something more elaborate than a Skittles would give this cucakery(yes, I just made that up) it’s deserved fifth star.

I only gave them 1 star because 0 stars wasn’t an option… These were absolutely the worst cupcakes I’ve ever had. The first time I went to the Cup, I ordered 4 different cakes so that my family and I could sample a few flavors. We tried red velvet, key lime, cookies n crème, and chocolate chip. The key lime was moist, but flavorless, and the other three were dry and crumbly. None of them had a good flavor, and the icing on all of them tasted very odd. I actually wondered if it had gone bad because the consistency wasn’t right. My wife tried them on a seperate occasion when they were on Scoutmob. She said that her cupcake was dense and dry and the icing wasn’t good either. The biggest issue she had, however, came from the owner. He complained that she was using Scoutmob and said that he wished he had never signed up for it because the customers don’t come back. What he needs to understand is that customers don’t come back because the cupcakes and his attitude are terrible. Some friends were in town on another occasion and we were in the Brookhaven plaza, so they wanted to try them. I told them that it wasn’t too good, but I like to give new businesses a chance(which is why I’m just writing this review). Exact same thing! The cupcakes were dense and crumbly, the icing tasted rancid, and I decided that I would NEVER go there again. I’m not sure how this is the same place that is receiving 5 star reviews from some people. I think GiGis is ok and Cami Cakes are pretty good, but this place is absolutely terrible. When a 6 and 12 year old don’t finish a cupcake, that should tell you something…

Tried cupcakes from«The Cup» last night thanks to my dear friend Kelsey who brought them to a bday dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. She went over the top and purchased a bunch(there are still some in my fridge to be consumed) but the two I have tried so far were pretty tasty! Last night I tried some chocolate chip cookie/caramel concoction. I was scared at first that it wouldn’t be that tasty because the paper wouldn’t come off the cupcake but once I finally got it off it was quite tasty. It was crunch on the outside but soft on the inside like a good cookie would be. There was a melted caramel at the bottom which added a unique flavor. There was only a little bit of frosting on top which was fine because it was plenty sweet with what it had. Today I tried the cookies and cream. I love all things cookies and cream but have had some cupcakes that were a crappy attempt to mimic this classic pair. The cup got it right. The frosting was vanilla with cookie crumbles and there was even cream in the middle of the cake. The frosting and filling was SWEET and now I’m ready to take a nap(sugar coma!). I will probably try one more and then the rest are for the hubs. I’d definitely try The Cup on my own now that I know what sweet treasures that have to offer :)

I’ve tried The Cup several times, and like reviewer xteethx b., I’m not sure what place some of these reviewers visited. I’ve visited The Cup on several occasions(as a destination & drop-in after Costco) and I’ve tried several cupcakes including the Key Lime, Asha Cake and my favorite Red Velvet. They were extremely moist, the correct flavor profile, not excessively sweet and had just the right amount of icing for me(I know icing amount is definitely a matter of preference). The tea selection is ON-POINT. That’s major for me since I’m not a coffee drinker and while I enjoy Might Leaf(the general«high-end» tea of choice around Atlanta), I like that they offer Tea Forte. Great atmosphere with plenty of seating. A nice contemporary décor, plenty of parking and wi-fi. While I know cupcakes are a deeply personal, almost religious experience for some… they are just mini-cakes made in a cup-like shape. Some of the negative reviews read more like jihad declarations in favor of their cupcake monger of choice rather than a review of The Cup. IJS.

Judging by the negative reviews I’m not sure I went to the same place or if some of the reviewers had their firstborn robbed here since these are just $ 2.50 cupcakes we’re reviewing. But I guess bad cupcakes can be that insulting to our dignity; we’re the consumer after all dammit. Maybe I went on a good day because the Red Velvet and Asha I had were really good. Red Velvet stayed moist till the next day and both were really rich; they had the right amount of frosting, which surprisingly, is full of sugar! It’s not the best I’ve had, Georgetown Cupcakes, Spot in NY and Big Man Bakes in LA are my favorites, but I would definitely go back to the Cup again. Victor was very nice and helpful as was the cashier.

The cupcakes were just ok. Several of the other reviews complained about their cupcakes being dry — mine were pretty moist. I ate my cupcakes over 2 days, and well next day, no surprise, they weren’t as moist. I had the key lime(my favorite — liked the dollop of lime icing), mint chocolate chip(not a fan — the dollop of mint icing tasted artificial), and chocolate peanut butter(ok). Honestly the reviews would normally convince me not to bother but thanks to Scoutmob, I couldn’t resist a good deal — plus I happened to drive by anyway. Regular price for cupcakes is $ 2.50. They also have cheesecake, sandwiches, smoothies, and tea. Service was very friendly. FYI — this review is based on a visit from over a month ago.

I was in the area and decided to see if there were any Scoutmob offers nearby. Th Cup came up and I cannot resist a cupcake or coffee! I am a cupcake connoisseur if I do say so myself. Hmmmm… this place is cute and clean, they offered about 14 different cupcake flavors, tea, coffee, and a small selection of lunch food. They also have free wifi. I had the carrot cake cupcake. It was okay… just okay. The cake was kind of dry and crumbly, the frosting was plain… I don’t think it was cream cheese which I would have preferred. I also had an ice coffee with sugar free caramel syrup. They didn’t offer regular caramel syrup. The coffee was pretty bad, it just had this awful fake caramel taste and I don’t think the syrup was measured according to the coffee size. I think there are enough cupcake places in Atlanta already.

If all you know are typical American«confectionery» then I suppose you might like these. However, when compared to real European pastries they’re quite crude. In particular, the«cake» portion of the«cupcake» in several of their samples that I tried was really no different than what you get at Publix(ugh) or what you can make out of a box. The icing is full of sugar. Overall they lack finess. If you want to try real pastries, try«Maison Robert» nearby in Chamblee.

I stopped by The Cup after happy hour in Town|Brookhaven. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this place, so I wanted to give it a try… The Cupcakes: they offer a variety — red vlevet, carrot cake, asha cake(heath bar), chocolate chip cookie, pound cake, banana pudding, etc. I had the Caramel Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Asha cupcakes — they are small in size with very little frosting. I found them to be dense and dry. Honestly, they tasted like something I could easily make myself, there was nothing gourmet about them. The cost: $ 2.50 each and they only use cream cheese frosting on all thier cupcakes…

We went here right after leaving one of the restaurants in the area. This is a nice little place to pick up some awesome cupcakes! The cupcakes were not overly huge like most places make them and they are nice and moist. I am not a hard core coffee drinker, but I am sure you coffee freaks will love the place and they also have free WiFi for the moochers.
