Not bad, but certainly not great. Pizzas were decent, but a little bland… and the coal-fired ovens weren’t used to their full ability, as the crusts were not so crisp. Service was lacking, but they were quite busy… but isn’t that a normal thing on a Saturday evening? Not many choices in the area, so it works, but no reason for me to go back. One-person bathrooms in a place that serves 100+ at a time is a little rough… esp for females.

Great service, delicious pizza. Not the best *ever*, thus not 5*, but a great place to visit in this area.

I had never had coal fired pizza before but this was fantastic. We got a pepperoni/mushroom, pepperoni/sausage and the arugula/prosciutto. Each one was really great. The service was really great and we really enjoyed this experience. [sausage had more bite than most spicy sausages do, but we were warned.]

Stopped in here while visiting CFHF. Service was excellent. Pizza was good, ask for it well done. Greek Salad was amazing! Huge! My husband and I shared a salad and a pizza. More than enough food for two of us. We really enjoyed this place.

Solid 4.5 stars and so close to being 5. We ate here tonight and we’re more than pleased with our meal. We found Max’s based on a recommendation from the front desk at our hotel. Looking at Unilocal beforehand we were really looking forward to the garlic knots but we’re disappointed to find out that they were not on the menu tonight. It was explained that when a sporting event is going on they have a smaller menu than normal. We opted for the meat balls instead and they were very good and came with some really great garlic bread. Their marinara has a little bite to it but overall is good. The only thing I would change is maybe add a little salt. On to the pizza which is why we came in the first place(and the elusive garlic knots). We ordered the Tradizionala and had them add garlic. This pizza was OK but the crust was a little undercooked in the middle. The garlic was amazing and they actually put whole cloves on the pizza instead of little pieces. The sausage and pepperoni were nice but the pizza was missing something; again I think it was just the red sauce needing a pinch of salt. The second pizza we got knocked our socks off. It was the fontina and funghi. This pizza alone would have got this place a 5 star review easily and I would probably rate this pie in the top 5 pizzas I have ever eaten. The white sauce was amazing, perfect balance of salt and spice and the mushrooms were sautéed just perfectly. We ended up fighting for the last piece and wished we would have just gotten 2 of these; we also wished we had more when it was gone. If you like mushrooms on a pizza, don’t think twice, order this and you will be so so happy you did. The restaurant is very nice too. Small and a cozy feeling even though they have some large(10+ people) tables and the kitchen is open; literally in the dining room, so you can see everything being made. If the weather were nice the outside area would be great too. Unfortunately it was near freezing during our visit and we got sat right by the door so when people came or went we got hit with a blast of cold air. Lastly, the service was great until the very end. I was drinking a soda and my wife a water and somehow our waiter knew when we were almost at the point of needing a refill and he would magically appear with replacements. We even commented how great he was. But at the very end he stopped refilling our drinks? We had friends that came in and sat at the table next to us after we told them how good it was. We received our check when they received their food. The place wasn’t busy at all; their were several open tables, and we stayed another 10 to 15 minutes while they ate. Our waiter came and picked up the signed check but never once thought to offer us a refill or to even just appear with them like he had done all night long. I really want to give this place a 5. Eat here and you won’t be disappointed.

Such a quaint place for pizza and beer and to watch the game. The pizza was great and so was the service. Everyone working there was very happy and helpful!

This place walking distance from the World of Coke and GA Aquarium. They don’t sell slices, you have to get whole pizza which has about 6 large slices. My friends needed 3 to be full. It has a great ambiance, lots of TVs and patio space. Perfect to watch a sports game or hang out with a beer. The average pizza ranges from 15 – 19. You can bulid your own or try any of their amazing special pizzas. The Garlic knots need to be greesier & garlicier. $ 5 They were alright, I’d like to try a different appetizer next time. We ordered the Prosciutto arugula goat cheese $ 19 — It was fantastic. The pizza has a great crust which I loved. I always say a pizza should be able to be judged but just the flavor of the pizza crust. It was buttery, flaky and perfect. The toppings where a mixture of fresh arugula, lemon pepper, prosciutto and goat cheese baked on top.

Very good pizza. Almost as good as Sally’s and Pepe’s in CT. Add the mixed olives. Would have loved a clam pizza!

We were nearby at the Coca Cola Museum, and found this had some decent recommendations online. I love oven baked pizza and salad as a combo and this was amazing. We shared three pizzas as a group of nine, and three salads. Try the Garlic Knots appetizer and the Caprino pizza!

Me and my boyfriend ordered one 12″ pizza to share. Each additional topping is $ 2. We got pepperoni, apicy italian sausage, and green peppers, with a side of garlic knots. The pizza was very good. The sausage wasn’t the crumble kind, it was the sliced sausage(and it had a little kick, which we loved!) and everything looked and tasted fresh. I just wish the pepperoni’s were bigger. My boyfriend liked the garlic knots. I thought they tasted too«bready» or something. But i did like that they were generously seasoned. I would have just liked more cheese or something. But the pizza is really good. The service was okay. Not outstanding. But not«bad» per say. We might be willing to go back.

I was apprehensive to try another pizza place, but I am so glad I did. The waiter recommended that I try the Fontina & Funghi pizza only if I «really really like mushrooms», which I do. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The crust was just the right thickness, the veggies were juicy. The mushrooms were exploding with flavor! The service was great too! The pizzas came out in just a few minutes, and drinks were flowing!

Hidden in an unassuming store front a block from Centennial Olympic Park is a delightful coal fired Pizza shop. Don’t let that fool you, however, because there are other hidden gems on this menu. We started our meal with an antipasto platter loaded with Italian goodness. Three cheeses, several meats and assorted peppers with a balsamic vinaigrette. For a moment I felt like I has been transported to an eatery in Little Italy. Excellent. Shortly after finishing that treat our coal fired pizzas arrived. One was pepperoni and the other spicy Italian sausage. Both were cooked to perfection. The pepperoni was tasty and not overly greasy, but just enough grease to ensure it was real deal pepperoni. Authentic spicy Italian sausage was pleasantly flavored. Both pies were smartly dressed with a flavorful crushed tomato sauce and just the right amount of cheese. Several adult beverages are available and there are other menu items that should be able to suit most eaters.

Max’s brings a funky fresh vibe and overpriced pizzeria fare to Luckie Marietta in downtown Atlanta. A hip soundtrack and a selection of inventive pies(Greek, sausage and goat cheese, artichoke and olive) and decent beer list cater to a young-ish clientele. None of us were particularly hungry or in the mood for something as heavy as pizza, so we each went with a salad-and-sandwich combo. I snagged the Italian hoagie and a Greek salad. The portions were definitely generous: that’s a six-inch roll stuffed with prosciutto, salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and hot peppers and a bowl roughly the size of a basketball half filled with greens, feta, olives, cucumber, onion, and more hot peppers covered in a tangy vinaigrette. The salad wound up much better than the sandwich: while the meats were quality, the bread was too chewy and the sandwich too heavy on lettuce. All in all, not a bad place for a quick meal.

Great Pizzaria pizza taste. Order enough by getting one extra. They are not thick, but very very good. I’ll be back. Walking distance from the Georgia Aquarium.

This was mine & my fiancés first time at Max’s Pizzeria and we thought it was really good. We ordered Garlic Knots and a custom made half chicken and pepperoni pizza. The pizza was outstanding. Very well cooked, cheesy, and great for dipping in some ranch. The Garlic Knots however were a slight disappointment. I was expecting usual Garlic Knots that are buttered and topped with Garlic and Herbs. Unfortunately these Garlic Knots were rather dry and came with a not so good Mariana sauce. That being said our server Nicholas was fantastic. Very friendly, attentive, & aware of everything that was going on, he will be the main reason why we go back to enjoy some more pizza. When dinner time rolled around, we were still stuffed from lunch at Twin Smokers, next door to Max’s, but coming down from a World of Coke sugar buzz. With deference to what looked and smelled like credible pizza, dinner was the salad and sandwich combo for all five of us. After jettisoning half of the hot peppers, the Italian sandwich presented a winning combination of Genoa salami and pepperoni. Dressed with a particularly tasty Caesar dressing, it was the salad, however, which stole the show. Together, this was a satisfying dinner. Service at Max’s was attentive, friendly and competent, and although they were obviously very busy, Kathleen and her colleagues didn’t miss a beat.

Since none of us was up for pizza, we couldn’t attest to the signature offerings, but a glance at the rather limited menu suggests a good assortment of meats(sausage, pepperoni, capicola, salami) and cheeses(mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, feta, goat) at slightly high($ 15– to $ 19 for a 12-inch pie) prices. Instead, we all opted for the $ 10 salad and half sandwich combo. The Italian sandwich was satisfying albeit a bit heavy on the hot peppers while the Caesar salad, though basic, tasted fresh and hit the spot. The ambiance was lively and comfortable, and service proved adequate. Though it is not a standout eatery, you could do far worse than Max’s.

Lucky to find Max’s. We were in town for a convention and all the restaurants around the convention center and the dome were packed for dinner. At Legal Sea Foods it was a 3 hour wait! As soon as we walked in to Max’s we found two seat at the bar and Ethan«The Bullet» as my wife called him was incredibly fast and efficient. Running around the whole place. Our drinks never went empty, our food was out in under 10 minutes and he brought the check in time for our next event. He even knew the schedule, very impressive. Oh and I didn’t mention the pizzas are really good too. We will definitely return. Thanks again!

Good pizza place in Atlanta. I stopped here with my dad after we took a tour of the Coke factory and were looking for something relatively quick. We came in around 1:30pm so the restaurant wasn’t too packed and we were seated immediately. The reason this is 3 stars not 4 is because of the service. Service: Although we were promptly seated, the service for the rest of the meal was a little slow in that they didn’t check up on us until we signaled for assistance or that we were done. The server and hostess were eating when we walked into the restaurant and during the meal. Don’t get me wrong, I know staff has to eat but it was a little weird to be watching them eat while they grabbed our food. Food: We ordered the caprese salad which was absolutely fantastic! The caprese salad was probably both of our favorites: fried tomato, mozzarella, and tomato with balsamic glaze and arugula. It really was a fantastic dish. As far as our pizza fix, we ordered a make-your-own with different veggie toppings on either half. The pizza was average, came out relatively quickly, and we were satisfied after 1.5 pieces each. If a restaurant can’t make a pizza, then we have a problem, so I think Max’s did a fine job with this. The food was definitely a 4⁄5 stars.
