Eh… Our service was pretty bad despite us being only one of two tables in the store. One of the employees gave me a rude look when we were coming in and rolled his eyes and walked away. It was very strange. Then a girl that ended up being our server walked up and seated us. It took a long time to get our food and even longer to get our check. Calling it service would be a stretch. At least they got our orders right despite my husbands and kids meal coming out over 5 minutes before my sushi came out. My kid seemed to like the shrimp tempura and that was reasonably priced-$ 6 with a soda and some ice cream. Everything else on the menu was very expensive for being so mediocre and not fresh. I had sushi and the avocado was really gross in my roll. The rice was mushy not sticky. Nothing we had tasted fresh. My husband had the Japanese Curry and he said it wasn’t good at all. It was more like gravy and rice. We won’t be back.

Ugh why did I come here again? This place is always so disappointing and has gone down hill even more. The service is bad, the quality of the sushi is hardly better than the grocery store. I wish this was the first time this has happened, but sadly it is not. The stuff inside the sushi rolls are SO small. You can barely see them. Why am I paying over $ 11 for a roll that is barely edible. They even served us hot tea in a styrofoam cup and do not have tea kettles like other sushi restaurants. I will not be back.

Charge you $ 5 for cardboard. I ordered $ 80 worth of food to go and they charge for the box the food goes in. Idk if they are missing their margins, lack of business, rent is high, but charging for a to go box is absurd. The food is good, but the price exceeds that taste. There is an abundance of quality sushi places where the high price is correlated to the quality. Not this place

Genki’s has great sushi! I love the«I heart Sushi» roll! It is my favorite! This location has a great atmosphere for dining in, but take out orders can be a struggle sometimes. The food is always good, but I have had to wait over 30 minutes to pick an order that I called in an hour before I was there. Awesome sushi though! I will definitely recommend this place to my friends!

We’ve been here twice. The first time as last year and it was pretty good. This time it was not very good. We were the only people sitting on the patio and the service was really bad and it just did not taste fresh. When I’m eating sushi everything needs to be really fresh and it was not. Our whole party felt that way.

I’m surprised at the bad reviews. I guess I got lucky. Check out my pic of their chirashi. It’s was so much food, I could hardly finish. And we are talking fresh sushi here… Great service and delicious. Check it out.

By far the worst ever Chicken Katsu in my entire existence on earth. Soggier than a bowl of ramen. I will never ever go here again. The service equally bad. 3 waitresses and not a simple single. We also got ponzu sauce at the very end of our meal. Why even bother to bring it. Unreal/look at the pic

I’ve been cheating on Ru San’s with Genki, and it feels oh-so good. When going to a new sushi place, I like to get the same thing I get every time and see if it’s up to par with the numerous sushi places I’ve been to in the metro area. Genki exceeded my standards with their bagel roll and vegetable fried rice so much so that the next day(today) I came back for more. Today I ended up getting the Smoking Dragon roll(crab on the inside, seaweed, rice and smoked salmon + avocado on top, with a drizzle of spicy mayo) and some chicken egg rolls. Both blew my mind and blessed my tastebuds. Everything is so fresh and perfectly balanced in all seasonings. Nothing is too greasy, too salty, too… anything. Except too delicious. Service was awesome as well. Helpful, friendly, and honest servers like Janet today and Arthur, from yesterday, make it a more enjoyable experience. Not only am I giving Genki 5 stars, I also might give them the key to my heart.

Even though the Groupon is eligible for a very limited menu, when you add up what they give you on Groupon menu, you can save when you pay the normal price. The service was slow and indifferent. It was more than an hour from when we got there to getting any food. Guess we’ll need to find another place.

This review is a 5 because Genki has two to three items on the menu that you cant find anywhere else. Ambience is probably a 3 or so but the food is excellent. Must order; Portabella mushroom over crispy spinach Mixed vegetable bowl over rice. Pick any meat Tuna Symphony Stick with this and pick any roll and you cant go wrong. We love genki!!!

I always get the Super Crunch, which is enough to satisfy. I tried the fried rice this time after my fellow asian bartender promised it’s better than most. (I hate plain, bland, wack fried rice that most places serve since my mom decks hers out with all sorts of goodies) Turns out she was right! The to-go serving was pretty big and it was gone within hours of being home. Couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to trying it with the blackened chicken next time. Other things that are awesome include: flash fried spinach, edamame, and their fried oreos if you’re living dangerously lol. They have half price bottle on select wine to btw. Additional: Genki’s Prado location is completely different from Buckhead’s local dive sushi atmosphere. The Prado location is newer, nicer, and modern. The food is AWESOME in both location’s, but I should add that I’m only a cooked sushi eater. My sis eats more traditional choices and loves it all the same, so anyone who comes here should be fine.

Really disappointing. Usually love their curry tofu bowl but out of tofu. Out of tofu? Draft beer not working. $ 50 for rice, veggies and a bottle of beer. Oh well.

Meh. Not ur super authentic place but ok «americanized» japanese food. Kinda like a lower grade pf changs of chinese food. Or maybe a higher grade taco bell of mexican. I went for trivia night and liked it ok.

Not impressed… Slow service and the sushi was awful. The nori was stale, the rice wasn’t cooked properly bits of it were crispy and the portions were awful! I got less tuna in a roll of ten then I get in one piece of nigiri else where. Chances on trying this place out and now I just feel ripped off. I won’t be back.

Wonderful service and great menu! I had sushi and my husband had the same as well as calamari. Everything was top notch and the service was the best part. I’d highly recommend for a date night or an intimate dinner. The dessert menu is on point. We had fried oreos. Prices were also very reasonable as well. We came on a Saturday night and it wasn’t that crowded.

Recommended by a friend of ours we decided to dine at Genki. Upon entering we were greeted by a cute little hostess who happily sat us in a booth towards the front. Atmosphere is nice. Service is descent and food was above average. We would definitely come back and try out their extensive sushi menu!

WORST!!! This my second Genki experience, first time at this location. The one in Buckhead sucks too. I’m all for equality, but the sushi makers(they’re not chefs) are Mexican and they’re on their mobile phones while making food. Really? There are two customers here, myself and another single customer. Yet the server gave me the wrong order. The tables aren’t clean… sticky red sauce on the edges and remnants of fish eggs. The miso soup was awful, tasted like it was packaged. And the sushi(the remade version) was poorly presented, clearly rolled by someone who isn’t a chef. The waiter never came to ask how the sushi was) I’m guessing he knew it sucks). I see why this place isn’t busy. I’m very sorry that I decided to come here. If I can say something positive, the tropical fish in the saltwater tanks are pretty. That’s it.

I’ve been a Genki fan since the early 00’s when my girlfriends and I would roll up to the Buckhead location for sushi and cosmos like we were Carrie Bradshaw and her crew. Hint: we weren’t. The Prado location of Genki is a nice middle ground meeting place for people coming from East and West of Atlanta. This is right off I-285. Even when there’s a lunch or dinner rush in this restaurant-heavy corner of the Prado, there’s plenty of spots available in the free parking garage. The sushi and drinks are consistently tasty. I recommend the rainbow roll and veggie tempura roll, but I’m not an adventurous sushi eater. The bowls are a delicious option for non-sushi eaters.

I decided to visit the nail salon a few doors down last Saturday and was tempted by sushi. I decided to stop in and was surprised that it was a little empty. It was rainy and foggy outside though. I sat at the bar and ordered a ginger salad, bagel roll and the tempura fried cheesecake. OHMY… the bagel and salad are classics but that cheesecake… wow. I am still thinking about it 3 days later. DEF check it out if you like cheesecake!
