I’ve been to W hotels & bars before & am accustomed to their quality, but rarely have I received service this awful: extremely slow, extremely poor attitude from our waitress. And all this with about 20 people in the entire place on a Sat night. No wonder the place isn’t close to full. Never again.

Drinkshop is located updated up the stairs from the lobby of the W downtown. I was expecting something extremely snootie given that information. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t as pretentious as I initially had imagined. I was hoping for a quiet mixology bar with quality cocktails. I did get a quality cocktail. However, they blare their music so as to discourage conversation with the company you bring. I do have good things to say about the old-fashioned I ordered. Definitely a well made cocktail with an interesting twist I haven’t seen before. My bartender heated the orange twist on a match before zesting the rim. Very cool! I’d probably end up returning should I make my way back to Atlanta as my girlfriend enjoys the environment while I enjoy the drinks. So it caters to both of our likings.

Oh my gosh, what delicious, delicious drinks these are! After hearing the fame of the mixology going on over at DrinkShop, I decided to give it a go one night. I took a friend and we had the bartender Adrian surprise us. It was nothing short of amazing! After asking me a few questions, Adrian served me a Moscow Mule. One of the best drinks I’ve ever had. It’s a testament to the bartender, because I tried the same drink at a fancy bar weeks later and was sorely disappointed. From now on, Adrian at the DrinkShop will be the sole mixologist of my Moscow Mules. Of course, both my friend and I had to try several drinks, and he never missed a beat. Love the venue, love the drinks, I’ll be a returning customer!

I really fell in love with the cozy lounge. I will say I was expecting a much larger area to party in. However I didn’t mind the intimacy of overall space. I read the reviews of drink prices and I was looking for damage once I received my bill. But to my surprise the prices are cheaper than Miami prices so I didn’t bat an eye. Lol. I said it once and I will say it again: if ya pockets can’t handle it don’t front and damage it! Haha. So ladies its a great girls night out spot to drink and bash the love of ya life or ex boo. Even better to mingle to find someone new ;)

I wanted to check this place out since it got such good reviews, however my experience didn’t live up to the hype. I was here around midnight on a Saturday and the place was practically empty. Music was so-so and the drink menu was a lot more limited than I thought it was going to be. The pluses were the décor/ambiance, servers were friendly, and the drinks were pretty good.

I visited the W’s pool bar last night, which is separate from the Drinkshop. Same hotel, same management, same vibe, just 16 floors up. The décor was classy. The pool was swanky. The bartender was friendly and quick. The ubiquitous security staff was, well, ubiquitous.(Why do much security? I dunno.) Here’s the rub. My mojito cost $ 13. It was mediocre. Maybe even a bit watery. Lots and lots and lots of ice. I don’t mind shelling out $ 10 or more dollars for a nice cocktail. I have a lot of respect for mixologists. But if I’m gonna shell out $ 13, I want a $ 13 drink.

Very creative cocktails. More like they-hit-the-spot drinks. You take one and you’re done. Or you stick around and love evrything about the place. The service is hit and miss. When they’re very busy it’s more of a miss, but if you get there early and can attract their attention, then it’s A-plus service. The ambiance is very sexy sophisticated chic. It transforms you and leads you to believe you’re in some tres chic place. And when there’s a good DJ to add to this ambiance it’s even more entrancing. Great place for ladies nite out.

After an awful experience at Rooftop 866, hubs and I were tired, hungry, and wanting drinkies. I remembered my Unilocal bookmarks( Unilocal, always to the rescue) and chose the nearby Drinkshop at the W Downtown. I was too tired not to valet, but it was an absolute breeze, and I felt princess-y. This place is FANC-AY! Our server was pleasant, not TOO snooty. The food was just average. It’s necessary if you’re going to be drinking, and we were pretty hungry after the disaster that was Rooftop 866. We had the flatbread pizza — this was decent, but I could have come up with this in my kitchen. We also ordered the garlic truffle fries — um I didn’t taste anything truffly. Anyways, on to the drinks — DELISH and strong. LOVED the music. A bit of old-school hip-hop/reggae/Sean Paul — perfect. Overall, the Drinkshop is a swanky lounge and a great place to celebrate a special event. Not sure this is worth it for a generic night out for the average person, but for an extra touch/celebration(in our case, a birthday) — go for it.

Drinkshop… It’s super sexy and a nice bar to go to in the only W Hotel that is built from the ground up(previously W Hotels would buy a building, gut it and put their signature stuff in it). Even our bartender was HAWT! She looked like she belonged in a Ciroc commercial with Pdiddy. The drinks were awesome. I had a glass of a California Pinot Noir and a signature drink called the«Billy Dee» its a concoction of a whole bunch of things but it taste like apple pie! BUT The only thing going against the Drinkshop is that you’ll never know what crowd you get. Even the bartender said that. If there is a high occupancy at the W Hotel… the Drinkshop is poppin but if it is not then it’s not fun. My friend and I came around 9pm and the place was dead! This place seems more of a bar for out town-ners and convention people. Seems like ATL natives don’t really hang out here. I definitely think Drinkshop is worth it to come out for the drinks but for the crowd… you’ll be taking a gamble.

this is quite a snazzy bar. and yes. these are overpriced cocktails mixed by the finest. they will meet up to your standards and crawl up to your level if they have to. every drink they make is well crafted, so why not just take that leap of faith and go in for the dive… into alcohol. i had the moscow mule, which is one of my favorites. and it has been THEBEST here. the ice cube(which was a huge rectangular block) finished off the drink in the most perfect way possible. it made the drink taste THAT much better. the mixologosits will definitely do handstands for you. i can’t frequent this place often because it will break my wallet and it’s in a hotel.

I only had one drink(and a shot!) and I came here after a party but I liked it. I thought the staff was very nice and attentive and the space is kinda cool and swanky. The drinks are pricey and they have a list of their fancy cocktails to choose from or you can do what I did — tell them what you like and ask them to whip you up something fun. They did this and made a variation of one of my favorite girly drinks I’ve been into lately(they took my Champagne + Campari up a notch). I also had a Key Lime Pie shooter that I thought was tasty(and, actually, not too sweet). I’d come back here if I was in the area or meeting someone around here. I’m not sure it would be a destination place for me but I would definitely not be opposed to coming here.

Came here on a weeknight after taking my wife on a helicopter tour off the rooftop helipad. Afterward, we wanted to grab a drink so we stopped by Drinkshop. We had heard about it on Unilocal and saw pictures. The pictures turned out to be a little deceiving. The place was not as large as I had been led to believe. And though the steps leading up to the bar was unique, the actual bar was unimpressive. It was difficult to escape the fact that we were in a hotel bar, and the drink prices were simply exorbitant. We didn’t stay long. As a side note, there is a restaurant downstairs called BLT Steak with more reasonable drink prices. My wife ordered the cucumber martini and loved it. So if you’re in the neighborhood, that would be the better option in my opinion.

Although I only had 2 drinks… it was pretty darn awesome!!! The first one I had was Combination of grapefruit/honey= awesomeness!!! I also had the penicillin cocktail which was a tasty mix of scotch, honey, lemon… etc…The hottie mixologist was nice to ask me if I liked it more on the sweet or sour side– I can definitely appreciate that. I also finally had a chance to check out the wet bar, located on the 16th floor. An outdoor rooftop patio with a small pool, and lounging area was pretty nice, I can see this being a nice summer hotspot. Crowd was pretty diverse, and the music was great that night.

I am really not up on the bar scene in Atlanta, it’s just not something I do, but I made the trek down to Drinkshop, in rush hour traffic, for an event and was really glad I did. As others have said, it’s a very upscale, modern looking space. The dark walls and low ceilings gave it a really intimate feel. Now on to the ice, at first I kind of wondered why it would be necessary to have 5 different kinds, but now I am a believer. I had to drive home afterward, so I only sampled two different kinds, but that’s just a good excuse for me to go back and try more next time. I first had the Lazzaroni Sour, which came with the ice sphere. It was perfectly suited to the drink because it kept it icy cold without melting and diluting the sweet/sour almondy flavor. I also could have spent all night just spinning that thing around with the cocktail straw, so entertaining, it was nearly baseball sized! Next up, El Diablo! This one was served with cubes, maybe about an inch square and did melt faster than the sphere, which was good because it helped counteract the bite from the house-made ginger beer. The only thing I might have changed about the drink is that I might have preferred a salted rim, it was delicious without, but I just crave salt with my tequila. Overall, I had a really good time and wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to go back next time I am downtown.

I was totally unimpressed with the Drinkshop. This place really doesn’t have an identity. The design is contemporary and«loungey», but there is nothing about it that is special. Well, except for the communal sinks outside the restrooms. Nice idea. The bartender seemed a bit out of it. Maybe because I did not order a specialty cocktail and that through him off. Not sure, but he misplaced my debit card and I happened to see it on the back bar and pointed it out to him. «Oh, that’s where I put it?» There was a DJ spinning eclectic music and a couple of people dancing on the small space that was allocated as the dance floor. Just seemed out of place. I give the Drinkshop one star for the communal sinks outside the restrooms and one star because it’s associated with the W brand which I’m a fan of. Tip — do not park at the W. Use the garage across the street and pay $ 5. I stayed for less than an hour and the valet was $ 8. Ouch!

Unlike my fiancé, I do NOT want to give this place a second chance. In theory, the drinks were inventive and awesome, but in practice the only thing I noticed was how small they were. I mean, I’m not expecting a pint glass, but for $ 13 I should get more than a few dainty sips. And $ 8 beers??? Come on. It’s Sweetwater 420. It’s brewed right down the road. The atmosphere, again, was probably really cool on a blueprint or in a design studio. But in real life, it was dark, crowded, and LOUD. At 29 years old, I should not have to a) hold up a candle to read the menu, or b) lean to within an inch of my companions in order to hear them. On the plus side, our server was frickin’ hot.

Don’t get me wrong, I have always liked a cocktail or 12, and while there are definitely liquors that strike my fancy more(whiskey and gin, I mean, in case you were curious), it wasn’t until Kathleen R. and Becca S. came into my life and showed me the meaning of a REAL cocktail. These ladies took me in stride and hunkered me down at New York’s infamous Milk and Honey on several occasions, skilling me in the lessons of mixology. It’s kinda like that saying about flying First Class, once you fly it, you can never go back to Coach. And that’s how I now feel about a really exceptionally mixed cocktail. Enter: Drinkshop.(Another Sasha Petraske joint, might I add) I was already displaying a little snobbery — Vodka? Served at the bar? Blasphemy!(clearly, I learn from the best) — however the cocktails they offered on the menu seemed up to par. I opted for the Bee’s Knees — gin, honey and lemon juice — simple but mighty refreshing. They also have that fancy schmancy ice that is custom chipped for each glass. In terms of vibe, this is a definite departure from Petraske’s New York haunts, very open with lots of windows, low slung electric blue settees and metal hangings and splattered paintings. Much more modern — though they still sport the same«Rules» in the bathroom. Well, after our first round, I decided it was time to take things up a notch. Of course, I still had to text Kathleen R. to ask«What was that drink I really liked?» She responded immediately: The Penicillin(and if you like Scotch, you should try this puppy out!) I smugly asked the waitress for the drink, thinking perhaps this would trip them up. Nope! A beautiful Penicillin was delivered to me, and was spot on. I happily let Kathleen R. and Becca S.(The reigning Queens of Cocktails!) know that I had discovered another great cocktail place, you know, next time we’re all in Atlanta at the same time.

Ooooh. Mama likey. Drinkshop is unlike anything else I’ve experienced in Atlanta. It’s very New York, very trendy, very cool, and because of that it feels kind of forced, nearly out of place in downtown Atlanta. It’s located on the 2nd level of the new W hotel, and it just oozes swank. Low seating, dramatic lighting, and perfectly coiffed cocktail waitresses round out the appeal. Vodka is stored in freezers behind the bar and lemons, limes, and other fruits are cut and displayed, prepared for juicing. Luckily the drinks live up to the hype. I started with a «Clover Club,» a lovely frothy combination of gin, lemon juice, raspberries, and egg whites. It was, in a word, delightful. Perfectly tart and fresh… I could have had several. For the next round I ordered something a great deal stronger: a vodka cocktail with muddled limes and strawberries. Nearly straight vodka has never tasted so good. The truffle fries were coated in parmesan and quite yummy and the buffalo rock shrimp were good but not great. While the $ 13 drink prices seem strangely reasonable due to the preparation and high quality ingredients, the food feels overpriced. While it’s far too expensive for me to come on a regular basis, Drinkshop is a great spot if you’ve got someone you want to impress. Or you’re feeling the need to splurge. Or you want to thank me for my wonderful friendship over many, many, MANY oh-so-tasty drinks.

What an amazing experience. First of all, I had a VIP tour of the space which ended me right in the presence of Mr. Sasha Petraske! The drink czar tried my drink and let me know it was exactly correct. Thrilling. I had an old fashion that i watched them crush the sugar cube and fizz it… nice. Topped with a chuck of ice since Drinkshop feature 3 different types of ice. Odd suggestion… Try a plain ginger ale while your there, they make it homemade and it is one of the greatest things I have ever tried. To think a bar where everything is actually correct and handcrafted… The space is perfect and minimal. The music was completely on point. the crowd was better then normal for Atlanta. I was quite pleased. This was the first of MANY trips.
