This space was very nice. I knew the owner and his son who were very ambitious. The owner is British. The food was very nice and of a high quality. My mother appreciated it also. Andre’ 3000 use to frequent this restaurant too I believe. I did a two month long solo exhibit of my artworks at D’jango. It was quite nice and memorable. I am sorry to hear that this location has closed. However the general declining quality of the Atlanta population may have played a role in its closure. D’jango was a bit upscale and fashionable offering a somewhat highbrow selection of food and atmosphere. The place was hip for Atlanta, though in my opinion too hip. D’jango in my opinion would have been better received in communities like White Chapel(London), Dusseldorf or maybe a part of Los Angeles(West Hollywood?), etc. I think the place may have intimidated some visitors and later when the business tried to open up to an other crowd it led to many, many problems. It is unfortunate.

Great place with great food and very cool atmosphere. Where all the hipster buppies go in Atlanta to listen to soul/hip hop music. Downstairs is the dark, basement-style dance club with a bar, upstairs is the restuarant/lounge area. Usually great bartenders, and the good is pretty damn good. Great location, right off Peachtree near where Verve used to be.

This place is wonderful at night as it serves as a club downstairs and a bar upstairs. Its a welcoming environment and a great atmosphere for my boyfriend and I to relax in.

Went here on a Saturday night… Nice spot to hang out. I didn’t eat, only had drinks which were mixed well. Sort of loud environment, so definitely not good for a first date, but the dj was awesome, and the atmosphere was calm. For a Saturday night, it wasn’t overly crowded so I was able to enjoy myself and watch some sports on the flat screens as well.

I was here for a Halloween party this year and even though it wasn’t my first time this is my 1st review. :-) I haven’t had the food, but the drinks are the best. You’ll normally find a drink special or two but you have to remember to ask about it. The bartenders are the most attentive to customers but they do make good very good drinks! :-P

Best food ever!!! It was meant to be! Originally from Chicago, we were walking by, saw the place and decided to give it a try. «Django Jypsi Kitchen & Saloon» k’mon we had to try it. When we got to the door, it was closed!!! as we waited in front of the place to decide where to go, someone opened the door and told us that they were going to open like in 30… eager to check out the place we went for a walk and most definitely came back!— best decision ever!!! drinks were a tid bit strong but still delicious… The FOOD!!! AMAZING. we ordered a bunch of appetizers… YUM! couldn’t get enough! THEWINGS! best wings I have ever had anywhere in the WORLD. Full of flavor, DELICIOUS! Calamari, Pizza, yum yum yum… I didn’t like ATL that much but would definitely go back just to get some more of those wings. wish they delivered via air mail. yummmmm Django wings, I crave you!

I hear that this place is great during late night. Definitely more crowded than around 7pm. I actually went for the food which was just okay. The waitress was very nice. The location was pretty sketch and I wouldn’t advise walking the parking lot alone after dark. The inside was nicely decorated. very unique I’d say. I would suggest going more for socializing than eating though. The drinks were good. I would go back to check out the night scene.

ATMOSPHERE: Went there on a Saturday night at 6:30 — not too crowded with a couple tables filled. It’s nice inside — dimly lit, decorated with some tribal looking art. However, the trek there is a bit scary — shady parking lot and run down looking stairs up to the place. I wish it were in a better area(it’s down the street from the homeless shelter so there are bums walking around everywhere). FOOD: Okay, so meat eater tried to order the shrimp/mussel linguine but they were out! If you don’t have something on your small menu specify when seating. Geez! Vegetarian selection is limited — no entrees available. Some salads and small plates, which is what I ordered including: 1. Veggie quesadillas — good. Poblano sauce on top with carrots, celery, onion, cheese mixture topped with some lettuce. 2. Black bean soup — with carrots, celery. Too salty! I didn’t even finish all of it so I took it to go to try to modify a bit at home but they didn’t even have soup to go boxes!!! Okay, if you are serving soup then have soup to go boxes! 3. Meat eater ordered ribs and said they were too salty. Mashed potatoes were average. nothing unique. SERVICE: Nobody greeted us when we walked in! We just wandered in and picked a table. Little slow but whenever I asked questions about the food the server would just simply admit she didn’t know and would not offer to find out… I had to ask if she could ask the chef or someone who would know. I asked simple questions like a particular ingredient in my black bean soup which turned out to be carrots but I just wanted to make sure since it resembled meat. I also asked about what sauce was put on top of my veggie quesadillas and instead she brought me more sauce instead of explaining what it was. Basically our server was not very knowledgeable about what she was serving… maybe she’s new? I hope so since that would explain things. Also, it’s not like it was an interrogation from me about the food… just a few simple questions about ingredients… PARKING: There’s a free parking lot behind the place specifically for Django. Be sure to turn left on the street BEFORE you see the restaurant, which is right next door to Shakespeare’s Tavern or else you will end up having to go through a maze of 1 way streets — a hassle! Parking is in shady area but lots of cars were parked and our car didn’t get broken into. PRICES: Food is waaaay overpriced considering quality what you get. Quantity is fair. Luckily we used a Creative Loafing Bites certificate($ 30 certificate for $ 15) — . WEBSITE: Warning! Website says opens at 5:30 pm BUT actually opens at 6:30 pm!!! We went here once at opening time according to website only to discover on the door it’s 6:30pm opening. That deserves another«geeez!» Forgot to tell management about this when we were there… CONCLUSION: Service and food were unimpressive, especially for a vegetarian like me. Won’t be coming back again.

Well! I made reservations for a «Divas Night Out» for my motorcycle club… I ended up increasing the number of attendees about(2) days prior to the event. Upon arriving, we were seated in a very nice loft area and told that our buffet would be ready shortly… STOP! we didnt order a buffet so I asked to see reservations… so much confusion and so little communication, I was sent to the waitress then the bartender(who by the way seemed to have started happy hour shortly before coming to work) then even the cook got into the whole fiasco… After being brushed off for(1 ½) hours the manager finally arrived much to my frustration and rather than coming and addressing my group, he walks up, says to the waitress«Move them downstairs» and attempts to walk off with not even the slightest nod in our direction. We were moved to(3) tables put together right infront of the entrance(yep, we froze). My guests were very unhappy especially since we all had to sit with out coats on!!! I was not impressed with DJangos in the least bit, they couldnt even get the grilled cheese sandwich correct! But I try to find a positive out of every experience-our waitress really tried! She was brand spankin new so she had no idea what to do, but she tried, and thats all that matters.

Ok so i’ve never actually been here to eat… as a matter of fact, i’ve never been here in the daylight… but i HAVE been here several times to partay! it’s a rare occasion that i’ll actually come here at the beginning of the night and shut the place down at 2am… but they do usually have some beautiful drink specials… i mean like, ALLTHEGREYGOOSEYOUCANDRINK… for what? for FREE!!!(or all the well drinks you can drink) the special is usually over at 11, but by they we’re good and ready to move onto another spot… just make sure you tip the bartenders!

Not too shabby free-form jazz was playing on a Wednesday night at 9pm. The bar was free of chocolate martinis and the true barflies were throwing back bottomless red wines and some pretty decent margaritas. Sat down for a few hours and heard someone talk politics, another couple talk Braves, and down near the end of the bar someone was arguing about the merits of being a ‘good wingman’ to his bro. Pretty relaxed and casual, just like a good bar should be. The service can be kind of slow, but that’s just because when you come here you’d better be on Atlanta time, and when I say Atlanta time what I mean is relaxed and ready for some tapas and a good margarita.

My life on a whim… I had a great time here. Like mentioned by Gabrielle the Calamari was excellent, the drinks were delicious. I’m not sure if this was regular pricing or because our party took up the entire upper level, but we had a selection of about 10 to 15 different tapas for about $ 5 each and the drinks ran about the same. I’m quite surprised that we were allowed to have our ‘party’ here, I’ll just say this wasn’t a Tupperware party ;-) Had a great time, the atmosphere was very serene and peaceful no one seemed to mind that the people from downstairs were coming up to join us, the staff was nice and very accommodating. Will definitely return.

It’s one of my favorite places to go in Atlanta. I love their fried calamari(yes, it’s typical but I do love it!) with hot and spicy sauce. I usually hit it up when an artist/dj comes in town. Grab dinner early to avoid the line and head down to the basement for some good music afterward. Atmosphere is relaxed, no one grill on you for looking wack, hot or not. You might find one or two utensil dirty or chipped serving plates, but the waiters are friendly and the crowd are fresh. Warning though, parking is not pleasant and the Mission is right behind the joint.

I was wandering around the city in search of a hole in the wall with good food, when I happened upon the menu display at D’Jango. Jason bounded out of the restaurant and urged me to try it. I couldn’t really resist his encouragement and entered the fairly empty establishment. While it’s menu describes it as a gypsy kitchen and saloon, D’Jango looks like a somewhat hip yet oddly decorated college bar. The panel TV at the end of the bar was showing Top Chef, while the exposed brick and stone wall next to my table housed what looked like decorated coconuts and hands sporting finger puppets. My table and the others in the restaurant were heavily lacquered and surrounded by cream colored molded plastic modern chairs. The long wooden bar was lined with red stained wood chairs. Eclectic describes not only the décor but also D’Jango’s menu. I started off with warm sourdough rolls and salad that included what I think were pickled radishes. Although the salad had more dressing than I prefer, it was good and huge! I sampled the butternut squash soup next. It was very rich, and I could have done without the oil that was on top. Finally, I followed that with fried plantains. These were heavenly. There was just enough powdered sugar and whipped cream garnishing the plate. The texture was perfect, soft and warm. All the while, Jason was attentive but not overbearing. I’m happy that his good nature lured me into the unique restaurant that serves up some Southern specialties with a trendy twist.

I don’t get this place. It’s kind of weird, undergroundish, «gypsy». Ok so I actually ate here. The menu was very limited and because my stomach is not the strongest, I decided to go for the shrimp caesar salad. But wait, let me back up. Parking is shady, pay to park in a well-lit parking lot on Peachtree. Many, many bums and random people that don’t look«right» are in this area. I had to pay $ 10 to get in. My friend was on their mailing list and forget to bring the e-mail and the girl at the front was being a winch and made us pay saying the next time we need to RSVP. Anyway, we sat ourselves at a table and waited about ten minutes for acknowledgment. Finally, a waitress appears and says«I’ll be right back with your water». Ok… she comes back and says«What can I get you». I am trying to figure out where my water is but I order and say think maybe she will bring it after she puts in the order. Nope, didn’t happen. She didn’t bring it until after the salad was delivered. Oh boy! How many people have had a Caesar salad with Italian dressing and tomatoes with NO parmesan cheese? I didn’t think so. I complained and got my food free(1 kudo for Django). Downstairs where the dj and dancing takes place doesn’t get jumping until after 12:30. I did not enjoy the dj, his theme was«I get money». All songs had to do with money with no variety. It was annoying. I danced for about twenty minutes and left.

I didnt’ eat here. I did, however, have 3 martinis. They’re delish and very generous for an awesome price. First I had a lemon drop — it was nice and tart but not overly so. Then I had 2 Djangotinis. Whoa — tasty and lethal — Melissa mixes these to be STRONG… pineapple juice, bacardi coco, ketel one citroen, and chambord. Nice music and service — I could see making it a drop in place if I lived/worked near it. This was one of only 2 places in ATL that didn’t disappoint

I find the food at Django to be a little hit or miss(the fried calamari with spicy sweet sauce drizzled over it is my favorite, but can be a little tough). But the cocktails at this gypsy themed bar are usually on the mark and atmosphere is very unique. Downstairs a DJ spins on the weekends, while upstairs you’ll occasionally find live jazz. And every once in a while the owner’s mom will set up shop and tell fortunes for a quarter.

I’ve never actually been to Django to eat because I’ve been there so many times when I was looking for late night places to party. I don’t dine where I dance most times. Local promoters have picked this place up as a venue to throw the events that all the urban trendsetters want to attend. I’ve tasted the food, but mostly just appetizers. One of my ex-employers would have happy hours here as well. Parking is a little scarce. Django has some spots in the back, but walking around alone can be a little intimidating because people do tend to loiter in this part of town. Django has a door in the back that I’d suggest single females use if they are meeting someone here. It is typically open and late at night a doorman will be posted here. To me, Django is more of a bar or hang out spot, but the interesting thing to note is that the restaurant has been highlighted in Atlanta Magazine over the past several years. Maybe I am missing out on something.

Located in a sort of downtown Atlanta neighborhood that most locals don’t venture to after dark. DJango is a real hipster joint with its roots deep into European cafes and clubs with a little bit of the«Dirty South» hip-hop scene thrown in. The crowd here is a mix of intowwn urban pioneers, hipsters, and soul scenesters – if that is too many buzzwords for you, let’s sum it it up like this: Dunwoody it ain’t! Django is a combination of restuarent, café, bar, and nightclub. Many nights have a dJ or a band, and the action heats up around 11pm. This is a very eclectic place, with an above average food menu. I would compare the menu to that of Apres Diem across town, a mix of starters and entrees with flavors reaching across all cultural bounderies. I think of this place as more of a bar than a restaurant and enjoy the reasonably priced wine list and well mixed cocktails.
