Crowd is definitely important. I stopped going after Duluth police decided to open up a precinct in the parking lot. I can tell you this, don’t go with troublemakers and make sure you always have a DD or have the number to a Korean taxi.

This place brings back some good and bad memories. It all depends on the crowd that you’re with. I’m not talking about the fun, I’m talking about getting in. Here are two scenarios. I went with a couple of my Korean friends and we got in with no problem. The selection of music was awesome, service was good, and their facilities were not bad at all. I really liked their rooms and I enjoyed myself so much that I decided to go back again… my second experience with them. A couple people and I had just finished a missions trip, and we decided to go celebrate by eating dinner and going to karaōke. Being around the area, and having a great time the first time, I decided to go to Do Rae Mi. This was a Friday night, and I understood it would be a little busy. There were about twelve of us total, and we went in to see if we could reserve a room. Being from a Chinese church, we didn’t have any Korean people with us this time. After the guy behind the desk realized this, he wouldn’t let us in. I got really agitated, and demanded to know the reason why. He blurted something out in Korean and repeatedly asked us to leave. I immediately called one of my Korean friends and recited the bits and pieces that I tried to remember from the guy’s Korean. I remembered Jun gook and Han gook — Korean and Chinese. That’s all I needed to hear to never go back there again. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place, and I did have a lot of fun. But do yourself a favor, bring a Korean friend along.
