A very cool place in a great area of Buckhead. The menu is great with small plates and a spectacular wine list. They offer ½ glasses, full, or by the bottle and their tasting notes are spot on. The food was very tasty but for such small portions they could afford to spice up the presentation. The night we were there it was not very crowded at all but our food took a very long time. The hostess seemed rushed to get people moving, but our waiter did his best to keep us happy. We even got a free dessert for our wait! A great place for a date.

We went for dinner & drinks Friday night, ended up eating dinner at the bar. Bartender knowledgeable and very helpful in our wine selection. Food was great, friendly atmosphere … what can I say about the Krispy Kreme bread pudding!!!

So this is an odd place because you are basically ordering entrees at appetizer size and price. The food was good but I was still hungry shortly after.

Worst bar tender I have ever encountered in my life. I think his name was John. I politely asked the bartender to make me a whiskey sour and whether or not they could do it with egg whites. He answered with«who makes this drink with egg whites?» The better answer would have been who doesn’t. Its a drink from the 1800s! He gave me a snotty stuck up attitude for the rest of the night treating me like I knew nothing about drinks. I don’t need to spending my money for horrible drinks and a bartender with a big ego.

Went here for tapas and dessert after show at improv. I like the layout and convenience of this complex but the music and the volume of music from the patio is like you are in a club even though it’s only 9:30. If the restaurant weren’t empty, they could argue it’s not a deterrent to business. Menu interesting, execution good on some items(flatbreads) and not on others(would not get filet or bread pudding)

I had been to the Andrew’s Entertainment District before, but never tried Cellar 56 because I was thinking it was too formal, but it was perfect. I was lucky enough to have a scoutmob deal here. The food was really tasty, «tapa» sized portions. I had salmon with quinoa and a caesar salad. I think this place would be amazing for a romantic date. It was really intimate with low lights and candles also it was quiet.

It’s a tapas place located in East Andrews Plaza. The food is pretty good; I ordered fried green tomatoes and their flat bread pizza. Service was ok. Bartender is a rude mother fucker because he thought it would be idk cute? douchey? to say something about my friends boob? I didnt find it amusing or funny.

Mediocre food, superb service, and convenient location. The facility appears to be nice upon first glance but the closer you look the more rundown it is. Simply do not order the chicken, it’s dry and bland. Hummus and fried green tomatoes were good.

Krispy Kreme bread pudding WOW! We shared some tapas that were all really great! Strawberry salad, scallops, mushroom flatbread to name a few. The service was questionable, our waiter was kind of rude to us and did not seem to want to be there. I would go back for the food though!

Amazing dinner! We went for Valentines Day pre-fix dinner and because there were three of us we could order everything on the menu. The combinations of flavors was extremely satisfying. From the Strawberry salad to the BBQ flatbread, short ribs and lamb chops. Excellent! Dessert was perfect with s’mores and a crispy cream treat. Service was A+. We only come to Atlanta 4 times a year –Cellar 56 will always be one of our stops from now on!

Great wine and tapas bar. Loved the selection of tapas. We enjoyed a nice quiet evening with good food and wine. Low light, low key atmosphere, which is what we liked.

Good food. Horrible service. My girlfriends and I went a couple of weeks ago, and I’m still wondering why we landed here instead of one of the new, awesome places I keep hearing about. We came in long after the dinner crowd(if there is one), so our server should have been able to manage our group. We way overwhelmed her, and our drinks took at least 20 minutes to come out. My girlfriend and I ordered a bottle of wine and didn’t have the option to taste it before they poured it into our glasses. The wine sucked, so we ended up letting it sit. Our server never asked if she could get us another bottle. Once we finally received our food, we scarfed it down and left since it was pushing 11PM. The food was good, but the overall experience will keep me from returning.

Went here for dinner tonight. Had the short rib(yum), the scallop(yum) and the mussels(meh). Sarah was our bartender/server and she was fantastic. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great experience. Will definitely be back!

Food was good, the service was very minimal(what do you want to drink, are you ready to order, drop the check kinda thing). I could hear 3 different types of music playing, which was coming from surrounding businesses. I could barely carry a conversation without raising my voice. I assume this is mostly due to it’s location, being right next to East Andrews bar. Also, the table we sat at was majorly uneven and wobbly the entire time. I think that is unacceptable with their price of food. I probably won’t return unless it’s with a group of people. I would recommend the lamb which was cooked perfectly and very tender. The short ribs could’ve been better when I had them.

I have to admit, I rarely come here for a full meal. Tapas is great for snacking, especially when I work so close by! Tonight I had the flour less chocolate cake(also gluten free) and a glass of Apothic Red, a California winemakers blend according to the bartender. It was lovely, slightly sweet, dry on the finish. One of my new favorites!!! I would stay away from the coconut pie only as it’s mostly a whipped cream covered graham cracker crust but a friend of mine adores it. As far as deals, it’s Two tapas plates for the price of one on Tuesday. Awesome! I suggest the tuna and avocado salad with a grapefruit vinaigrette! It’s delicious and served with tortilla chips. It’s accompanied by a shrimp ceviche that’s more a South American salsa type of dish, I usually order double crab and avocado. My favorite plate is the Prince Edward Island mussels. Not embarrassed to say I consume the whole dish – the mussel sauce is creamy salty garlicky and wonderful. The Cesar salad is yummy and dressing is authentic. They have good wines, definitely not the place for a wine snob. Simply good, solid wines with decent prices! Examples include Slingshot and Hook & Ladder. I’m a red girl so I haven’t explored the white wines… I’m a fan of the fruit and cheese plate, the fig jam is my absolute fav! It’s crunchy because of the little seeds and the perfect hint of sweetness. Shrimp and grits are good as well and the shrimp is butterflied and de-vained thank god! I also like the scallop and creamed corn, but honestly the creamed corn is the prize on the plate. I’d like a full cup of it if it were up to me. They always run promos like groupon and scout mob – who doesn’t love that?! Try it. Ask for Sophie, she is their Host. She will make sure all your needs are taken care of !!

Checked in on Unilocal and got a free dessert item. Located in Buckhead inside a small strip mall. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and wonderful food. The wine bar selection is impressive. Let’s skip to dessert first, KRISPYKREMEDONUTBREADPUDDING served piping warm with camel sauce will make your toes curl… amazing. Lamb chops were slightly overbooked and dry. Short ribs was tender and full of flavor. Flatbreads on freshly made bread is tasty and only two bites. Fried calamari with aioli had a slight spice kick, just perfect. Green beans sautéed with garlic rounded off a wonderful meal. Service was super impressive.

A truly disappointing experience, one of those that makes you think, «Now WHY did we decide to come to Buckhead again?» I used to love Cellar 56. It’s perfect for a group of picky eaters and the prices aren’t too outrageous, considering there’s almost always a deal running here. Tuesdays are still your best bet– 2 for 1 tapas. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed is that it was LOUD. Like having to scream across the table at my date and he still not being able to hear me loud. Like our server having to ask us to repeat ourselves 2 – 3 times for each order because it was so loud. The culprit? A table of about 8 women. They had actual just been seated, but it was very clear they had been pre-gaming. There was lots of screaming(«WOOOO!!!») and drunken story telling(«NO…NOOOOO…»). This table made every table around them miserable. We actually exchanged looks and conversation with the tables to our left and right about said table. I mentioned the noise level to our server and she mentioned another one of her tables was being moved to another area because they were not pleased. Then a new table of 8 got next to the rowdy table, and it only took them approximately 60 seconds to tell an employee that they either needed to be moved or they would leave. And they got moved. When I asked if we too, could be moved, I was told no. Here’s what could have been done: 1 — They could have asked the women to keep quiet. They eventually did, but it was 45 minutes too late. And the women could only stay so quiet. 2 — They could seriously look into installing acoustical features to reduce the noise carrying in the restaurant. 3 — They could have done a little more than say«sorry» when we complained to the hostess, server, AND manager. For the rest of the world: don’t be these people the restaurant. Our date was miserable– we couldn’t even enjoy each other. If this were a first date I would have been completely mortified. As for the actual restaurant experience. When we were seated there were no wine glasses or wine menu to be found. Their menus are in serious need of replacement; mine was falling apart(pages had come un-bound) and the front plastic page had been torched by previous customers who accidentally hold this piece over the table candle. Both my menu and my date’s menu was like this. We started with the mac & cheese. It came to the table quickly and it was HOT– as if it had been sitting in an oven or under a heat lamp for a while. None the less — it was pretty good. We scraped it clean. I liked that they used tortellini instead of elbows, and that it wasn’t overly creamy. Then we ordered three more items. We waited an extraordinarily long amount of time for these items to come out from the kitchen — almost 45 minutes. For a tapas restaurant I find this pretty unacceptable, even when the place IS slammed. Our server came over twice during the wait and expectantly held her pen to paper for our next wine order. When we said we were fine… just waiting on food… she said, «Oh yeah, it’s on it’s way.» Both times. I know front of house and back of house are generally separate operations, but really? We would have at least appreciated a «Sorry, we’re backed up due to ____» or «X dish takes a little longer because we cook it a special way.» But we didn’t get an explanation for the wait, nor an apology. Finally the tomato flat bread arrived. I’m not a tomato fan but my date noted that it was«pretty good». We also ordered the scallop and the«mini meal» filet. The scallop looked great but it was overcooked– a bit rubbery– and I caught a few gritty bites… very unpleasant. The corn it was resting atop of was seasoned well, but I felt the corn itself was slightly under cooked. The filet — talk about a mini meal. I was pretty shocked at the price they were charging for such little food. The«filet» was cooked really well. The potato on the side was one of those tiny honey gold potatoes. The potatoes were very garlicy. I didn’t mind but others may. Since we only ordered 4 dishes between the 2 of us, we felt we had room for dessert. We asked for dessert menus, and our server brought them over as well as a dessert tray. We needed a few minutes to decide but not the 15 we got. Dessert is pretty much always an upsell, so I was pretty shocked our server disappeared for that long after we indicated we were interested in dessert. We ordered the s’mores and asked for the check at the same time. The check came fairly quickly but we waited another 15 minutes for s’mores. The dessert was pretty good — and came 3 to a plate, perfect for sharing. The food was the highlight. But we did not have pleasant experience at all. Thank goodness we had a discount via Scoutmob because that experience was not worth $ 60. I felt terrible for talking this place up to my date as the only really cool place in the Buckhead area. I don’t see myself coming back here anytime soon.

Look, I’m not a snob when it comes to places to go drinking, but you need to have options. Especially in this day and age when people have restrictions to their diets — Gluten-free being a BIG one. Now, I am not a GF person, but I dislike beer. I’ll drink wine if that is my only option, but you need to have some good selections that won’t break the bank. But at 1 in the morning, a $ 8 glass of Cabernet is not what I am hankering for, and certainly not after having several drinks prior. Cider is where it is at. Every bar should have a cider option — period. Now if you don’t, fine, but make sure your bartenders are not complete jerks when they are asked what cider they do have. That’s okay, I can spend my money upstairs instead… and I did. Oh, and my friends left you a pittance for a tip, too. Service — 4⁄10 Menu selections — 6⁄10 Atmosphere — 5⁄10(I’m not really a fan of the Buckhead scene to begin with) Take a look at the canvas and rethink the drink menu and your ornery bartender.

Last night I was finally able to treat my lovely ex Z(aka Luke’s uncle since he adopted him for me — may have to give that man a key so he can play with Luke any time he wants!!) to dinner out. So nice to have a paying job that lets me be sweet to the people who’ve been so good to me over the past couple of years(I have kept a running list!). He’s done way more for me in all ways than a single dinner could acknowledge, but it was a good start! Our favorite bartender was working and I hadn’t seen him in awhile, so it was good to catch up. I learned he’s just used PROMOVE to find his new apt and is super excited! Go, team PROMOVE! We had a small smattering — the short rib, the scallop with corn, the fried green tomatoes and the spicy lime corn. I have to say the food was really only three stars last night, but they keep four based on the service and everything else. The short rib was a little dry(to me — Z loved it), and the fried green tomato was a little bland(the goat cheese was good though, and Z liked it better than I did). The corn was good and a little messy as always and I loved the scallop as usual(I do think the corn with bacon bits with the scallop is better than the corn on the cobb, just an aside). Great deal as always, and a lovely time for us to catch up over a real meal. A very happy Tuesday, indeed.
