Genco Import

Stopped in here for Halloween only to discover just two bartenders working. The service was horrible so I left. The drink prices are a bit steep, too.

Stopped here briefly for the advertised $ 2 fireball shots! Excited, we took our shots… Wait. What happened to all the whiskey? The shot glass was misleading. Half the glass was filled with, well, undrinkable glass space that makes for aesthetic beauty but the fact that we paid $ 2 for half a shot…
I guess we can’t complain: you get what you pay for. Don’t advertise full shots when you are only going to provide us with a fireball tasting.

Had a great time there last night, I was made really welcome as a line traveller in there and really enjoyed my few bud lites etc. the music was great and all the folks in there were also great. Thanks to Allysa and the guys… I will stop by again soon!

This place it tons of fun. An older crowd makes it an oasis within the khaki divide. Find Madison for great conversation and generous pours. They’ll find the game you want to watch while playing music you should have heard before. On top of all that great specials makes this a place you should keep in business. Come visit and chat with friendly barflies.

Small bar with a great staff. Meredith our bartender was super nice as well as the rest of the staff who came in later on in the evening. Quick and friendly service. Who can complain about that.
The drink specials are awesome as well. $ 1 champagne and bottled beers before 10pm as well as other drink specials.
We had an awesome time. The crowd was cool, the staff was awesome, and the drinks did the trick. We’ll be visiting this place again on a future trip to Athens.

Genco Import Co. or «Genco’s» as most of the students in Athens refer to it, is a fairly small bar that somehow manages to always be packed.
I visit this location often when I am in the Athens, GA area because I have such a history with the bar. Throughout my college career every time I would go hang out with my friends who went to UGA we would always make a pit stop at Genco’s in the middle of our night out in on the town.
The biggest strength that Genco’s is the personal relationship bartenders make with their customers and the small area around the bar that basically forces you to meet other customers. These two qualities are essentially the biggest reason that Genco’s is even able to take business away from the other bar giants in Athens like Flanagan’s and Classic City.
The bartenders always seem to be in a festive party oriented mood which makes everyone’s experience all the more enjoyable. The bartender also always remember most of their regular customers and they always ring the bell to give any individual praise if he/​she gives a great tip.
The bar area itself is well furnished with dark oak polished counters and tables, along with comfortable leather cushioned seating arrangements available during their less busy hours.
