I must have been here 9 times already. I love the authenticity of the place, but be aware it’s not probably very good for you. The wait-staff are great, the food tastes great, and its not exxpensive.

Waited 20 minutes just to get a cup of coffee and then Waited over an hour to get my food. They either need better servers or more of them. Not a place to go if you want good service.

Vile is the only word for our breakfast. Scrambled eggs were dry, bagel was the worst I’ve ever had, hash browns were cold and undercooked. The bacon was the only decent thing we had, and all that great food for just $ 22.00. Oh, the waitress was surly, never smiled and after two requests for water we gave up. Also took her almost 10 minutes to finally bring us our check. So bad I left only a buck for a tip. Sorry, this is the first review I’ve written this bad but it is deserved. I’m wondering what restaurant the other reviewers here went to. This place was horrible. One star for the bacon.

It was pretty busy for a weekday morning. My friend suggested Dempsey’s for breakfast, and I was down for some pancakes and eggs to start off my day. There really isn’t anything special about the interior of the place, but it was packed when we visited. The tables & booths on the dining floor reminded me of Sprite’s colors — a bright yellow and green. The waitress we had was very friendly and she tried to make small talk with us. I definitely got the«hometown diner» feel here, which is awesome because some diners don’t really interact with their customers. I ordered a Slim Jim Fat Boy off of their menu, which comes with: 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and your choice of meat. I also got corned beef hash a la carte. Everything turned out okay. My scrambled eggs were a little runny and my pancakes were a bit dry, but overall I had an enjoyable, hearty breakfast. I liked the fact that the corned beef hash was a little crispy on the outside. The only thing I didn’t really like about Dempsey’s is the amount of single-use packets of butter, syrup, and ketchup they gave us. It would’ve been better if I could get the syrup/ketchup in a bigger container or bottle because it would’ve cut down on the amount of trash taking up table space. Dempsey’s is a good place to have breakfast, especially if you appreciate a homier feel. The food is what you would expect out of an average diner — nothing too special, but it will start off your day right!

I love to go here for breakfast. The scrapple Is very good and the pancakes are awesome. They have a solid lunch/dinner menu but I’ve never eaten here for that.

Awesome breakfast spot! There was a crowd of people waiting but we were all seated really fast. Great service and the breakfast was delicious… the Jim Junior hit the spot! We just moved to Olney and the previous owners recommended Dempsey’s too us. Would highly recommend.

Solid little hole in the wall place. Tastes like home cooked food which is comforting. Last visit I got the corned beef hash(the kind out of a can), an English muffin, and hash browns. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and yummy!

This place is the perfect small town diner. Your expectations walking in need to be that you came here for a greasy spoon experience(interpreted in the best way possible) and you get it. The food is good and the place is always crowded for breakfast — probably the best meal they serve. But everything is good. Here is a little secret… if you ever ate at Holly’s on the eastern shore on the way to OC and had their AMAZING shakes, Dempsey’s makes the exact same thing. Slim Jim Fat Boy breakfast w a chocolate shake to wash it down! That’s real eatin” But its not cheap — that’s ok because that is what is keeping doors to places like this open. Worth the extra money.

A few years ago I used to go here with a friend for breakfast and it was decent. I like to support the local places. However, today was the worst and I’m upset about spending over $ 35 for a breakfast(not including tip) for 2 that was terrible. The good… The French Toast was just ok… plain sliced grocery store bread but tasted fine. The eggs were scrambled per our orders, and the pancakes were fine. The bad: 3 pcs. of bacon. One was way undercooked, one was overdone, old and chewy and tasted like onion(in not a good way). One was just right. The ham slice my guest had was so dry and chewy, he took 1 bite and needed a drink to wash it down. It went uneaten after that. The home fries are actually hash browns(looked like the frozen grocery store variety)…they were undercooked and 1 bite was taken from them. A lot of wasted food. The coffee was bad, too… unfortunately…I don’t usually add sugar but did to make it palatable. I refused a refill. I should’ve said something but the place was crowded and I just didn’t want a confrontation, especially with a guest. The service was fine. They should look into an exterminator as small black ants were crawling on the wall our booth was attached to. I can deal with ants, those little ones are tough to get rid of. What I can’t deal with is bad food and a large breakfast bill and feeling ripped off. My fault for not taking up for myself, I guess. Obviously, I will not go back. So much for my attempt for eating breakfast local. I’ll go to IHOP.

Great for breakfast, good for lunch. Dinner is hit and miss. Weekend breakfast can get very crowded so pick your times carefully.

Well it takes forever to get seated and when you finally do the food is decent, but overpriced for this 1960’s place in the country.

The food and staff are great at this place, and they always remember us. Our young son LOVES Miss Audrey, Nikki and Mel especially. There is something for everyone here. Soups are also always really good and I enjoy the tuna salad salad as well. I just wish it was bigger and able to accommodate more people. Just got to get there early I guess!

Ate breakfast and chatted with old friends here, which attributed to us overstaying our welcome. Our waitress walked by, mumbled something about us still being there under her breath. Her tactic definitely worked as we left promptly after that. I thought breakfast was decent. Ordered waffles, eggs, bacon. Bacon was especially magnificent. Waffles and eggs were simply waffles and eggs, nothing fancy. Got their hot tea, and I love how it came in a novelty mug on a saucer with a doily. Small diner feel. The place was bumbling with a steady flow of customers. It must be a go-to spot for the locals in the area. I’d return for the sake of supporting a local businesses over a Denny’s or IHOP(even though the food is virtually the same). I’d be mindful to leave immediately after you eat and perhaps having coffee someplace else for conversation.

I thought the food here was very good, especially the French fries which were so crispy and delicious! The service was good as well. The only thing I wish I had known was that they served breakfast all day. I also would have liked to have seen some more vegetarian options. I definitely plan on going back! There was a good atmosphere and everyone was so friendly.

Friendliest staff in town. Décor is nothing to really brag about, but the food’s good, and the staff is outstanding. It’s a neat place, with great local color.

I was leaving Montgomery General Hospital after some minor out-patient surgery and was pretty hungry so I asked for a recommendation for a place to go for breakfast. The staff recommended this place. It was OK but really not that wonderful. It was a diner type restaurant located in a strip center. Obviously filled with«regulars» who knew all the waitresses and cooks. The sign says it’s a tradition since 1993 and I can believe it. The food is OK but, to be honest, I’ve had better diner food. The staff was friendly enough but you could tell that unless you were one of the regulars you were from«out of town», if you get my drift. They have booze in case you like to drink and they serve breakfast all day. The tables are a little cramped and I really felt that the conversation I was having with my wife was being overheard by the people sitting literally 3 feet away from us. Bottom line: It’s OK. It’s obviously a «tradition» but you can probably do better in this part of Montgomery County. I think.

Another neighborhood greasy spoon. The people here know each other, and the regulars, and the food is good. The seating is a little cramped, so get friendly. It also is reminiscent of the old linoleum benches at McDonald’s. The mugs are a random assortment of donations that appear to have come out of people’s kitchen. I would not recommend the coffee. Cute, close to church, and even though it’s packed, can usually seat you within 20 minutes. I pretty much always order waffles, but the hashbrowns and eggs are yummy. It’s a little pricey for a neighborhood place, but I’ve taken out-of-town guests here before and they were equally satisfied.

Hooray for the local diner-style restaurant. My family ate breakfast here on a Sunday morning and it was a treat. Nothing was fancy, everything was just right. The breakfast was just like you’d expect for a small diner, with no frills or bad attempts at cuisine. When it gets busy, the seating system sort of stinks, but it’s worth the wait.

It is a little county kinda place in a strip mall. We have grabbed a few beers and late lunch a few times. It is clean, generous portions, good service and unique. I have to say there is someone in the kitchen that puts detail in to the presentation. The biggest issue I had was the vegetables tasted boiled not steamed. Worth a try. I have not had a bad meal. Fried oysters is my fave.
