The recent price increases have caused me to have to remove this restaurant from my favorite frequently visited places to eat. I often decide on who is going to give me the greatest value for my money, and if I can go and enjoy a steak, 2 sides, rolls and a drink for less than I would spend here then I might choose the better value. It is still a good place when you are craving seafood, but perhaps not the best value for feeding your entire family.

I am a little biased because I work in a fried seafood place, but this is exactly what you’d expect it to be. lots of food for the price. quiet atmosphere with tacky décor. service was friendly. the fried scallops were amazing, everything else was good but not to die for. I would go back if I’m in Asheville and craving some fried seafood!

We thought we’d try this restaurant for dinner one night, first clue should have been the waitress didn’t know if they had soup or their menu at all. We ordered appetizers, jalapeño poppers and their blooming onion, both were tasteless, poppers were frozen not fresh, got a salad which was wilted with a watery Caesar dressing, by this time we canceled our order and decided to leave, charged us for the tasteless food and just thought we had to go, didn’t even want to know why we were walking out. We told the woman who was checking us out the food was terrible and we weren’t staying for tasteless fried frozen food, she told us everything was made there fresh and no attempt to try and save our business with them or offer compensation for a dinner ruined. We’ve never walked out of a restaurant before to put into perspective how bad our experience was.

I was relatively new to Asheville and wanted to eat somewhere other than a chain restaurant, so I decided to give Fisherman’s Quarters a try, even though I’m usually wary of inland seafood restaurants unless they’re recommended to me. I went here because it was convenient to my motel. It was Tuesday night, very slow(only three or four tables, which put me off a bit — you expect a good local place to be hoppin’ even on a weeknight), and the waitress was very attentive. I ordered a catfish/popcorn shrimp combo, with a salad. Both the fish and the shrimp were well-cooked, but not overly, and were tasty enough. I gathered that both were fresh rather than frozen, but I wouldn’t swear to that. The hush puppies and french fries were okay, nothing special, as was the standard green salad. All in all, not a bad meal, especially for the price, which was very reasonable. This is hardly gourmet fare, but for the money, with the cordial service, I came away satisfied. Just keep your expectations low.

I agree with the other reviewer. I was blown away by the proportions. For the price, you get a lot. The food was not spectacular, but at least it wasn’t greasy. The deviled crab was pretty delicious. but their clam chowder was lacking. Not gonna rush back, but I’m not opposed to another meal there. I did takeout, but the place looked comfy. Nice and kitsch.

A-OK is about right, I suppose. The portion sizes here were pretty good, the service was friendly enough. I just wasn’t overly wowed by the quality of the food considering the price. My salmon was quite overcooked, but the rest was pretty tasty. The place was probably around 80 degrees while we were in there though, so it wasn’t super comfortable.

The food was very good. I ordered the Captain George’s Combo which consisted of: Filet of Flounder, Oysters, Clam Strips, Popcorn and Deviled Crab. My husband ordered the YACHTMAN’S SPECIAL which consisted of Broiled Fresh Filet of Flounder with Crab Meat Stuffing. Each meal came with your choice of potato, hushpuppies and coleslaw. It was a lot of food for the price. I would have given the restaurant a 5 star if the waitstaff was a bit more professional. The waitresses conversed very close to where the people were eating, they swept under the booth and the floor right next to where we were eating a couple of times and they brought the bill out half way through the meal. This is something that I would expect at Dennys, not a place that is commanding higher prices.
