So, as I sit here waiting for my order, I notice that the tables look like they haven’t seen a rag all day and the floors are discussing. Considering when I came in, I was the only person in line, and still had to wait for 5 min before I order, I’m a little surprised. I thought they must have been cleaning. Nope, guess not. The girl who took my order was rude. Glared at me the whole time. I was planning on eating here and had she asked if I wanted a drink, I would have purchased one. Unless you have to eat here, I’d bypass it.

My son and I eat here before we see a movie most of the time. Haven’t been to a movie lately. We stopped after about 2 months today and it just wasn’t the same. The place had a funky smell like sour milk. I noticed the hot sauce selection was sparse. I asked the manager what was up with that. They advertise right above to have 75 hot sauce selections. He told me that the owner had a problem with the health inspector so they had to pull them. Not good. Ordered the shrimp tacos and the picture of the selection shows eight to nine pcs of shrimp in each taco. When I got my order there was 5 – 6 pcs in each taco. Not what they advertise. This place is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Stay away!

I LOVED the old manager! He was always so friendly and kind, it made coming here enjoyable. The new manager is rude and always grouchy. Hopefully they’ll change management. Not planning on returning.

I’ll give the benefit of the doubt for this review since there seemed to be no AC on in the place(thermostat was set to 65 °F and read 86 °F…ouch). There was one person with a to-go order and a party of three ahead of us, with no others inside the restaurant. Once again we ordered a burrito, the two taco — beef and carnitas — deal with chips and queso. This time, from the time we received our receipt to when we received our food was 10 minutes. While this was an improvement from last time of 16 minutes of waiting, I still think there is room for improvement. I also watched the two ladies behind the counter making the food, still seemed like they didn’t have the assembly line method down in reaching over one another to make the food rather than having one person handle the tortillas, rice, meat, and the other handle the toppings. I was told the burrito was pretty good and worth getting again. However, once again they cannot follow instructions on what to put in the tacos. The menu says it comes with salsa, no salsa was present. Thankfully, I didn’t have to take a huge bite of cilantro this time and the meat and carnitas was still tasty. The soda machine was out of pretty much every flavoring but it seemed like the counter workers were getting ready to fix that(call that poor timing on my part). I would like to call out Sam on being very patient in training the new employee on how to use the register, always a good thing to see.

I had a BOGO coupon and decided to go in today to get a burrito. The girl in the front seemed bored and annoyed but didn’t give me a hard time. I ordered the Bacon Chicken Club burrito and the California Screamin’ burrito. The Bacon Chicken Club burrito was very dry. The description said it comes with jalapeño ranch sauce which I didn’t taste at all. The lady who made it must’ve put a couple of drops in only. There wasn’t much flavor to it at all. The rice was a little undercooked, the chicken was overcooked and dry. I’ve only been here twice because of coupons.

I can usually count on Cal Tort when I’m traveling for work and need something quick. This location is an exception. Firstly, it’s dirty. The floor, the bathrooms, etc are all gross. I waited at the register for a solid five minutes before an employee asked me for my order. There were literally 5+ employees who saw me. Finally a teenaged employee who was standing no more than 10 feet to my left was asked by another employee to take my order and it was like he’d never noticed someone standing there. Oi. Food was fine, but my quesadilla was very sloppily put together, which meant it was messy and involved a fork. Not your typical CalTort, that’s for sure.

This California Tortilla is usually disappointing. The people making your food don’t care at all and it shows. For example I got the Korean bbq tacos that are supposed to be topped with green onion. All the pieces of onion were the white part of the green onion. No attention to detail. Chipotle is way better.

I’m giving this location(brambleton) a 2 star rating. This place was dirty. The tables were dirty, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. I know I’m not the only one who knows this, but great management keep the bathrooms, floors and tables clean. The booth we sat in was even cracking open. The soda machine was spilling over. We ate there anyway, even after my attempts at finding the sanitizing rating on the wall… could not find it anywhere, which scared me more. The food was good. In fact, it was really good. This is the only reason why I will try three Leesburg location next time. Perhaps they will have a cleaner score.

I’m not sure if the women who took my order wasn’t listening at all or what but I ordered a burrito bowl and a side of chips and guacamole and received a burrito(tortilla and all) and chips and queso instead. How do you get an entire order wrong? The burrito was just ok. Too much lettuce that got soggy really quickly and I didn’t taste any of the sauce that I ordered to go inside. The guacamole was very good though. Also very cold inside the restaurant. Definitely little to no heat on.

Usually a perfectly fine place to get a quesadilla for the kids, but it’s now 45 minutes after the place is supposed to open and the doors are still locked. I was shooed away by an employee from the back who didnt feel like coming to the front and explaining the delay to my disappointed 3 yr old.

I enjoy burrito bowls because they don’t have gluten. I am, however, picky. CT can be good, and the restaurant by Wegmans is far better in terms of consistency. This restaurant is OK for a simple steak burrito bowl, but everything else I’ve gotten here has been bad or wrong. Add in that the Choose Your Own coke machine is ALWAYS out of Dasani Sparkling water(& how, since its just seltzer which every other soda flavor should be using, I don’t know!), and I try to hit up the other locations.

CaliT’s execution is frustratingly short of matching its model. There are few fast food places I wanted to like more. They should have it all: 1) Their menu is fantastic, many options, many ways to customize your order. They offer build-your-own to specialty burritos including many very creative concoctions that appear very appetizing. The offerings appear well-thought out, well crafted and I bet probably tasted very good in tests. If I were judging a place based soley on mission-burrito style menu choices, I’d give this place a 5. 2) This copy of CaliT’s is clean, friendly, and very accessible. They’re fast and efficient, and very helpful if you’re having trouble deciding. The staff and service is great here(better than their neighbors at the IAD copy). 3) The core concept is California style Mission Burritos which for whatever reason never caught on out here on the East Coast. A favorite out west, it boggles my mind that they’re not a favorite out here in NoVA. So points for that — though their menu wanders from the mission burritos as well. 4) They’re kid friendly, robust kids menu which is great if you’re «Mit Brood». Their brownies are genuinely good(so I’ve heard). 5) The hot sauce schtick is neat — though on last visit they were pulling from the display cases. My girls love testing me with ever-hotter sauces. They love that — and so this is still in my rotations for brood-only outings. But despite ALL that — great concept, great restaurant etc, they just don’t deliver — and that hurts. Often their chicken is WAY overdone. Their queso is no good, and their tortillas overly thin. CaliT — we gave you 5 – 6 tries, and you’re out of the adult rotation. GOTTAFIXSOMETHING — everything is there but executing right.
