I’ve been here plenty of times, but I had such lovely service last night that I had to comment on it. I honestly usually avoid Brickwall on the weekends and in the summer because it’s so packed, but I went last night(a Saturday) with a party of five. I was expecting to wait at least a half hour, but we were seated immediately even though half our party was still on their way. Beer was great, food was great, per usual, and the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Jonathan, was fabulous with handling all of our staggered food and drink orders(because everyone showed up at different times.) When he saw we were struggling to figure out how to pay our bill, he offered to split the checks and did so with zero issues. I always feel like I’m being annoying when I’m in a larger party and everyone wants to pay with different cards and such. So thank you, Jonathan, for making us feel like we weren’t a giant pain. A good attitude goes a long way.

The Brick Wall is a great place to get a bite to eat and an exceptional craft beer. It is on Cookman Avenue right in town and if you can get a parking spot near the restaurant consider yourself lucky. Asbury Park has increased the paid parking in downtown over the last couple of years. Everyone is hurting for revenue. There is free parking but you’ll have to walk and not always in the best area at night. BW always has 15 to 20 good quality craft brews on tap. Samples are given freely. Beer sizes are poured generally according to ABV or cost of the brew itself. A 6 or 7% ABV generally comes in a pint glass but anything over that usually in a 10 oz tulip. Food is decent for a pub. I love their chile, burgers, and wings. Raw bar is open year round and they have food and specials during happy hour. The bar staff are always friendly and attentive. This past visit I tried a fairly new item on the menu; beef tacos. They were good but my only complaint is there wasn’t enough there to eat. They come out in 3 separate tiny tacos. They should also have some decent hot sauce. They offer Cholula hot sauce which really is worthless as it is practically devoid of scoville units. I’ve been going here for years and will continue to. It’s the go to place to try new beer.

Im updating my review… I always try to find the good in people, situations and restaurants I’ve had a bad experience at. I really wanted to be proven wrong and leave giving a new review of 4 but sadly no. Returned because my friends wanted to go here last Sunday. We walked in an was immediately greeted by a smiling hostess. Now our waitress was totally opposite, made us feel Unwelcome and annoyed we were there. She never smiled, never checked on us when food was brought out. When you asked for something like a refill she didn’t acknowledge you just walked away. She did give a refill but you didn’t know if she was going to or not. We would have ordered many more drinks because they were pretty good but wanted to just go someplace that had a happier tone. So now onto the food. I’m still not impressed. Cold bacon and eggs, cold egg wrap, bacon over cooked and cold. So if you are coming here to drink only you are good but food is not worth it. Last chance.

They have a great selection of beer and offer a beer flight of their craft selections for $ 15. We didn’t eat but the guy next to us ordered pulled pork and it looked amazing.

Food was good, but server was a snot. Sophie loved the black bean burger with avocado, bacon and onions. Elliot had chicken-fried BLT. Pretty tasty he said. I had tuna and sweet potato tater tots. I’m a picky tuna eater and theirs was pretty good, but the rye bread was stale. Tater tots were perfectly crisped. Eclectic menu to suit many tastes and cool atmosphere. A good go-to burger joint in AP.

Solid reviews led me to Brickwall after a nice walk around town. My friend and I were here for lunch on a pretty slow Saturday. I ordered the fig and pear salad with a side of Brussel sprouts and 3 oysters for $ 3! She had the pulled pork sandwich with a cup of chicken noodle soup. The good. Our server was super friendly and helpful with menu guidance. He was informative with beer recommendation for our sampler.(so many to pick from). The bar was clean, nice tvs, and the staff all looked content to be working! My salad was scrumptious! Solid amount of fig and the pears were sweet and delicious! It was guilt free, yet filling, just what I needed. My friend enjoyed her pulled pork sand, it was huge and smelled delish but I’d rather see Wilbur on the farm! Onto the no Bueno. $ 15 Sampler, 4−5oz beers. $ 15?cmon! The Brussels were definitely not fresh. Tasted like frozen, boiled then fried. They had flavor and mushy. I don’t know if it was old oil or they used frozen fries and microwaved them, but the French Fries were disgusting. The chicken noodle soup didn’t have any noodles. Our food took forever to come out and then our server could not be found when were ready for our check. Total was $ 56. For lunch. In New Jersey. Some good, some bad, if I were a local, I’d probably give BW another shot based on the friendly atmosphere alone!

I love Brickwall. Their food never disappoints, although I do wish it were a bit more seasonal. They seem to keep the same menu for months, if not years. Everything they have is incredible, so why not add some new items from time to time? Their tap list is also always on point… have tried many great beers here. The walls are lined with things drunk people have said, which is highly amusing. One complaint is that it’s way overpriced, but that seems to be expected if you’re going out anywhere on Cookman. Two beers, one app, one dinner and one sandwich was $ 84 with tip. A little excessive if you ask me so you definitely can’t make coming to Brickwall a weekly thing, unfortunately.

Fantastic beer selection that rotates weekly. The food was well priced for the area, pretty decent, and vegetarian friendly. I got the cheese sandwich which I don’t recommend because it’s essentially a block of cold cheddar with bread around it. But other items like Pierogis and the snack bar are solid. If coming on a Friday or Saturday, be ready to wait even with a reservation if you a larger party because it gets pretty packed.

It’s such a shame what some people do while rating restaurants. «It’s absolutely great and everything was great but *insert tiny problem here* 2 stars». The place is great. Awesome atmosphere, good beer/wine and great food. Service was good for a tavern, I didn’t expect a Michelin starred experience, but the food really shined. The raw bar(oysters and clams) was good and fresh. The black bean burger was fantastic. Had it with tater tots which were perfectly fried and not greasy. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat.

Of the people I know, I seem to be the only person that likes this place. I’m not sure why… Everyone says the bartenders are snotty and rude and tend to deliberately ignore you if you’re not covered in tattoos and piercings and ordering PBR or Yuengling drafts or shots of fireball. I say this is part of the Jersey Shore experience. Everyone is an asshole and no one is going to treat you special. I like the variety of draft beer at Brickwall and I love the option of a flight of beer. Happy hour snacks are decent and I think the food is good– it’s tavern/diner fare but with effort and thought behind it. I guess the raw bar is great for people who like rubbery gelatinous textures sliding through their mouths and into their throats…

Brickwall Tavern came highly recommended and it lived up to the expectations! Our party started off with $ 1 oysters during happy hour and they went through a dozen of them(great display on ice, with citrus options, and small squeeze bottles of cocktail sauce and a selection of vinegar mignonette sauces). We also had the pierogi appetizer and their grilled, bourbon chipotle wings(these were terrific — some of the best wings I’ve had in ages! Sweet, smoky, saucy, and a very little heat). They have a good beer and cider selection, including revolving tap options. Also a very good selection of liquor options — both mainstream, and offerings from craft distilleries. The menu is arranged in price order — a trick that I really appreciated! I had the Extra Sharp Aged Cheddar Sandwich(with avocado, tomato, arugula, red onion, and whole grain mustard). This is normally a cold sandwich, but the server offered to have it grilled up and that was the best advice! This sandwich is the stuff of dreams — exactly what I want to eat most days. Everyone else was really pleased by their choices and some of us decided that it is a good thing that we don’t live nearby — I’d want to eat here way too often!

I used to enjoy the brickwall. They had a small menu with unique items that combined healthy and bar food. It was good. Never great but good. Well all has changed with their new menu. Gone is the healthy options replaced with generic bar style food. Now that’s not always a bad then except when it is. As it is at the brickwall. The generic bar style food is generically bad. We started with tater tots which were obviously frozen. The issue is that our plate consisted of inconsistently cooked tots. Some where golden brown and crispy, others were pale yellow and mushy. We also ordered biscuits, which I believe are a new item, that were dry. So. Very. Dry. Since the falafel wrap is no longer an option, I chose pirogies and vegan chili. The pirogies again were frozen and not made fresh however they were the best thing we ate, which speaks volumes. The vegan chili which is an old menu item, was so thick I could have used it to build a new brickwall. It was like cement. My wife ordered the grilled cheese which had a very strange and unpleasant smell to it. I assumed at first it was the types of cheeses used and hoped it tasted better than it smelled. I was wrong. It tasted exactly like it smelled. After the meal we suffered through I wondered how on earth is this place doing so much business? It was packed with a line out the door. Which made for a very loud, chaotic, bustling experience. Dodging staff with hot plates of food, trays of drinks, and people weaving in and out to find the bathroom or return to their seat. I miss the old brickwall.
