Always best to do this popular place off-peak where Irina can regale you with plentiful information on the beautiful vineyards in the background of this a-bit-off-the-beaten-path beautiful tasting room. Very accommodative staff. We really liked the chardonnays(both 2013 and 2014) and the pinots. Joining the wine club makes sense if you’re buying a lot of wine(which we did).(note to management: You need to fix the flickering lights shining down in the tasting area… we turned them off).

Great experience!!! Michelle took great care of us in our wine journey.(Note to the owners, this gal deserves a raise). I’m not much of a white wine drinker, but I tried a Talley chardonnay and a Bishops Peak sauvignon blanc and they were both delicious. Their pinot noir is amazing. And let’s not forget the Elevation(Bordeaux blend)… amazing wine at an exceptional price point. On top of that you can fill a growler with a white, rose, or red wine. I will be back again.

We felt very welcomed as soon as we entered the tasting room even though they looked very busy. A hostess greeted us and then walked us over to our server, Joslynn, who was excellent from start to finish. As we were enjoying our wine tasting we had noticed a conversation next to us. Tasting room associate Garrett was telling these two ladies that he did not want to charge them for their tasting because they did not care for any of their wines and proceeded to give them back their $ 20. Being in the wine industry myself, that was great customer service in my opinion. This was a great experience as I was very impressed with the service, the wine, and especially the staff. CHEERS!

Frank took great care in describing the wines and presenting how they will go with different foods. It was busy but they take the time with the individuals.

This place was recommended by a few of the tasting rooms in Santa Maria. They definitely have a beautiful outdoor seating area with lots of covered seating. However it was a little bit on the warmer side so we enjoyed our tastings indoors. They have a large tasting room with lots of goodies to see. I’m assuming their kid friendly because they had a basket full of toys for young children which I think that’s awesome. They had have Chardonnays and Pinots and I believe I tasted a Cabernet Sauvignon. They were very friendly and easy to talk to..

Some staff were attentive, others were not. No special selections. Would have been better if they offered some cheese and crackers complementary but we had to buy pretty much everything there. Their library selection only contain Chardonnays. I would not be back again unless I felt I received more value for my money. Mediocre experience.

The location is beautiful. It is especially enjoyable as a local that the temperature is usually about 10 degrees higher than in the town of AG but only a few miles away. My husband and I were wine club members here for 2 – 3 shipments about 2 years ago. At the time I loved all the wines and loved bringing guests here to taste. Today’s visit… It was still a pretty scenery, however none of the 5 wines in the tasting line up stood out as anything I would want to purchase. Nothing was offensive in taste, but also didn’t stand out as «wow». I love this tasting room and hope to try them out again when the next year of wine comes out, but unfortunately for now I will not be a member nor have I found a favorite wine I’m interested in purchasing.

Driving up to this lovely tasting room overlooking Talley’s beautiful vineyard I was struck by the visual contrast between this location in Arroyo Grande and our earlier stops that day in the Lompoc«Wine Ghetto». Coming to Talley from«The Ghetto» is like apparating from New York’s Lower East Side to Beverley Hills! We met a number of friendly and helpful Sommeliers during that day of wine tasting, but Mike at Talley easily took the prize; he had an exceptional sense of humor with deadpan delivery and great timing. When I asked him if I could use one of the wine menus to write notes on, he said«the paper that’s printed on is VERY expensive — you should take this pen to write on it with». There are two tasting options: the«Core Flight» is $ 8, and you’ll receive pours of their five most popular wines. The«Distinctive Menu» is $ 15, and you’ll receive five pours of their pricier selections. TIP: A Unilocal check-in gets you 2 tastings for the price of one; use it to buy the«Distinctive Menu», then add the«Core Flight» for the complete Talley tasting experience. I’m very partial to reds, but this tasting included 4 Chardonnays; of these I was startled and pleased by the 2012 Bishop’s Peak Chardonnay. Amazingly inexpensive and aged in stainless steel, it has an good nose full of tropical fruit and tastes of bright citrus, with clean well-balanced acidity. We tasted four Pinots that day; all were good, but my favorite was the Talley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir. Honorable mention goes to the 2011 East Rincon Vineyard Pinot Noir; it was very good, but not good enough to merit the $ 60 per bottle price tag. I really enjoyed the tasting experience at Talley, and I found that couldn’t walk away without buying a bottle at last one bottle. I chose the 2010 Bishop’s Peak Rincon Vineyard Syrah. At $ 28 a bottle, it’s an exceptional value; a spicy, sweet nose with a full body and smooth flavors that include dark fruit, elegant tannins, and hints of clove, pepper, and licorice. Writing this, I realize that I’m long overdue for both another day of tasting on the Central Coast, and another visit to Talley Vineyards.

Super friendly folks really made our tasting enjoyable. No pressure sales, just good conversation. They are one of the few wineries in the area where you can bring in your growler and they will fill it right up for ya! It’s like table wine on tap. I’ve never seen that before til today. Like most wineries in the area, Talley is known for their chardonnay and pinot noirs. Although I’m more of a cab person, I found their pinots to be fun to drink. Very fruity. Our Unilocal check in got us a free tasting, which is $ 10 for 5 pours. They also had a chardonnay lover’s tasting for $ 18. Buy over $ 50 and you get a tasting comp’ed as well.

This was the first stop on our bi-weekly Thursday«date night». We received a complementary tasting for 2, and were looking forward to trying a tasting room we had never visited previously. We are members of Talley’s «Fresh Harvest» program, so we had high hopes for the standards we’ve come to associate with the«Talley» brand. We arrived 45 minutes to closing, handed them our gift certificates, and were greeted as warmly as if we had been the first customers of the day. The open layout, and panoramic views of the vineyards, made for a very welcoming environment to taste wine, and socialize, in. I loved when the man(I lost my notes at the hot tub later that night) pouring our wine would say, «this is grown over there», pointing over his shoulder. If you’re looking for a great deal on some good wine, they offer wine-on-tap in growlers. If you don’t finish(or just want to buy a few for later) they can seal the bottle for you. Being a geek, I immediately lit up when The gentleman said they have core samples from the different vineyards around the area. At this winery you’re not only able to taste examples of the same varietal, grown a short distance apart, but SEE why they taste different! Arriving so close to closing time, I asked if we could order a glass of wine, and walk the grounds. Our host said, «sure, stay as long as you’d like. Simply set your glass on the barrel out front, and enjoy your evening». It was just as we’d hoped, Talley hospitality. We walked around the grounds shooting pictures, talking, and enjoying the sunset, for about an hour. If you are looking to take a group of people, or simply need a romantic night at a winery with your«special someone», this is the spot. Large enough to accommodate, yet intimate enough to make you feel personally special. The Talley family seems to have the formula down, in everything they do.

Lovely tasting room, and the outdoor seating area is so comfortable. I have been to several events there, and enjoyed them all. The view from the tasting room is truly amazing. I fully enjoy Talley.

Top notch winery! Excellent service, solid wines, awesome view, and cool family story. The staff was top notch and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and felt at home. Awesome Pinot’s and Chard’s. They even have some stellar wines at a lower price point as well. Incredible view. Cool winery history which you can read about on the wall. Excellent visit.

Visited Saturday 10÷22÷14. Customer service was not what you would expect after walking thru the beautiful grounds up to the tasting room. Server poured wines, gave minimal background on what she was pouring, and walked away. Was more interested standing around the«tap» with other servers. This level of service drives the 3 star rating. As for the wines, they were just not my style. I prefer the bolder reds more typical from Paso. If bold reds are not your style, you may enjoy these wines.

What a wonderful experience at @TalleyVineyards! This was my first time tasting in the San Luis Obispo area(Arroyo Grande to be exact), and even though I can be a Nor Cal snob, this place absolutely nails it. The tasting room attendant Jane made our visit special, and we felt as if we were the only persons tasting in a packed room. Her knowledge of the wines and region went far beyond regurgitating descriptions on the tasting page, and gave us a deeper understanding of the entire region. My preference is for big reds, but the vineyards estate Chardonnay was perfect. This place is a must visit on your trip to the region.

Helloooo cheap thrills! Check in with Unilocal to get a BOGO tasting!(Buy one get one) Found Tally Vineyards via Unilocal during out recent trip to Pismo Beach. In lieu of riding the dunes(it was windy and cold) we opted to head inland for some wine tasting. Located about 10 – 15 mins from Pismo, we were excited to venture out into the hills and sample some local wines. Albeit small, the grounds were really pretty, and the staff very kind and accommodating. Tally offers two tasting options; one consisting of 5 premium chardonnays($ 15) and the other a variety of 5 other wines($ 8). We opted for the less expensive variety and enjoyed each sip. A cool experience that i’d definitely recommend if you’re on a budget.

A classy winery in the midst of golden grassy hills dotted with old California oaks and million dollar homes. Very countrified and genteel. They have a delightful setting away from the crowds, a view that won’t quit, and are very welcoming. The 6(?) mile drive east from Arroyo Grande takes you by farmlands, cattle ranches, walnut groves, and a roadside fruit and vegetable stand. Checking in here using Unilocal will get you a free tasting, but you must buy one bottle of wine. Not hard. Mr. B’s tastes leaned toward the Chardonnays and Reisling which he bought. He also really enjoyed three different pinots that he held off buying because… He joined their wineclub. At no cost to join, and no cost to quit, he got an initial 25% discount for his purchases for joining. There are several kinds of club memberships and there are two shipments a year. He will get the estate bottled wines from the Rincon, Rosemary’s, Oliver’s and Stone Corral Vineyards — 6 bottles per shipment. In the spring, June, their shipment will be their pinots(that’s why he held off buying the pinots right now). October is the time for the Chardonnays. Club membership gets you a 20% discount on all purchases normally and free tastings for up to 6 guests. Good deal. The wine club gives us a good excuse to return here, so we could pick up his wines. And I will continue to coerce yet more stops at nearby Doc Bernsteins for some fabulous ice cream. Maybe twice a year if I am lucky.
