My husband and I went to Alphys yesterday. The Philly was delicious and we got our food in less then 10 mins. We will definitely go back

We just had lunch and it was delicious. My husband got the oriental chicken salad and I had one of the daily specials which was an avocado black bean salad. What nice friendly people, and, overall a great experience! We would highly recommend this for anyone traveling in this area as we were.

Found a new favorite. Nice staff and good food. Hubby had the prime rib sandwich which was cooked perfect and I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was full of flavor and delicious. We will return.

My mom and I stopped in to get lunch. The staff is extremely nice. They were personable and the food was amazing! We ordered the BLTA and opened our bag to find 2 bags of chips and extra coleslaw even though we didn’t mention the fact that we were sharing. I recommend this place for sure!

I guess this is the place to go if you want the guys behind the counter staring at your significant other or perhaps giving you dirty looks at you walk into the place. We left immediately and decided to give someone else our business.
We simply laughed and enjoyed the rest of our day.
We’ll never stop in here again, nor will we suggest this place in the village.

We love alphys! The salads are huge and fresh as delicious!
The owner is always there and oversees the quality and sets the customer service tone. He is always positive and makes sure you get what you want.
I order he pulled pork sandwich recently and it’s delicious!
If you are downtown Arroyo Grande, you should try this place for sure.

My family and I love coming out here on the weekend. We also like to bring out of town family. The setting is casual and the food is delicious. We have tried a little bit of everything but we keep coming back for the burgers and coleslaw.

SITREP We went for lunch and it was a nice sunny day (like almost every single day in AG). We ordered our food and turned around and there were no tables that weren’t directly in the sun. It was kind of a pain to be on your lunch hour and not have a place to sit. We had to ask someone to clean off a table inside. So right there I thought I would never come back. My litmus test for a good restaurant is the soup. There aren’t many places around AG where you can get a good bowl of soup for lunch. The sign said the soup was «Roast Turkey Vegetable». What I got was clearly beef, so if that’s something you don’t eat, be sure and check with the guy and make sure it is indeed turkey. However, it was a good bowl of soup. It was home made, with a very nice clear broth and loaded with vegetables. We also had a Ranchero Salad with chicken. Another excellent dish with field greens, tasty grilled chicken, black beans, tomatoes, corn and tortilla strips. They use their home made salsa with ranch for the dressing. Although the service was friendly, there were a few details that made the staff seem out of touch. The seating situation, spilling my soup (which was supposed to be turkey) when he put it on the table and then just walked away, and my husband had to get up and ask for our salad because it was sitting behind the counter, «it didn’t have a ticket» was the reason he was given. 0 ambiance, but the food is good.

Let me start off with saying that the food here is very good. I love the fist tacos and everything else from here that I’ve tired has been really good too. My only problem with this place is that when you order to go, they seem to ignore your special requests such as no tomatoes.
Today while eating here, they seemed to be in a rush and put tomatoes on our food after we asked for it without and as we were sitting outside eating, they continued to take away every other chair and table that was around us including the shade for our table and the other two chairs at our table. We felt very uncomfortable and as if we had to shove our food down our throats to get out of the way.
I really love this place and will continue to go here because the food is so good and the owners are amazing. Very sad that I now have these bad feelings towards this place.

I would not recommend the Chinese Chicken salad. There is no diversity in the flavor. The chicken and the dressing taste the same, salty. I like when the sesame ginger dressing has the sweet taste to it, and this had none at all what so ever. I took two bites and boxed it up hoping that someone else will eat it so my $ 8.95 doesn’t go down the drain.
The pulled pork special of the day looked good, if there is a next time, maybe I will try that.

It was ok. The prices are fair, service was friendly. The burger was a bit overcooked and chewy while the trip tip was way over done. The French roll for the trip tip was nice and the salad, even the spring mix (not my personal fav) was ok. It was all just ok. No complaints, but no raves. Just not our kind of place.

Alphy’s is amazing, definitely in my top 2 for the village of AG. The service is always great, no question, and the food is just as great.
Standouts:
— Salmon salad
— The Burger (best in the village in my opinion)
— The Whaler (my personal favorite)

Pretty much Generic Non-​Ethnic American Faster-​Food for tourists.
Had a burger here awhile ago, which was rather generic.
It had a generous amount of beef & decent fixin’s, but it
the beef was not charred, BBQed, nor too tasty. They
did make it toward the rare side, like I ordered it.
I made the mistake of eating inside, which lacked any
atmosphere, except for watching & hearing them prepare
food. The boss did check on me, to see if I liked the burger
the way it was prepared. I did say & think it was OK, but
lacking the usual tons of fixin’s & other features of a
savory burger… what else could I say.
I may go back some day, but I prefer the more upscale
inside sit-​down places in AG Village.
It has a rather disjointed array of fast-​comfort food,
that is fresh, but is not inspired.
I think that this is a great place to take the kids in AG,
& not spend a fortune. The Gyro place up the street,
is another good place for kids.
AG & many places in SLO county
tend to be pricey.
It does have a nice big area to eat outside, but it is not
comfy, nor do you have a view of AG village.
I especially dislike the hard cheap plastic
patio chairs (see the many pics).
I have Neuropathy in my leg & usually do not sit outside, unless
it has comfy higher end patio furniture, so that it will not irritate
my Sciatic nerve. In my mature age, I am rather particular
about seating. Even inside, I want nice comfy chairs with a
cushion. The new fine dining place just up the street, meets
or exceeds many of my preferences.
Up the street, there are at least 3 – 4 superior sit-​down places
with table service, ranging from Comfort food, to Italian, to American, to Fine
Dinning…all you have to do, is walk up the Village & explore
a bit. Some have a real nice covered patio, so you sit outside
in comfort… but yes, they may cost a bit more.
Since Alphy’s occupies a good spot right at the start of the
AG Village, the old fact of location, location do apply.
In the past, they did offer a very limited Basque special menu,
& did also own a Basque place in Shell Beach which was closed
awhile back. The following replacement with the Brewhouse
was a mediocre replacement.
Anyway, if you want a cut above fast-​food, without ambiance
, that offers IMHO rather overrated food, then
go here.
Here is yet another place where the rating is overinflated,
by joyous tourists & even locals. Why… I haven’t a clue.

Burger is soooo much better than «up the street!» My wife’s Chinese chicken salad was a huge A+. Tri tip not a wow. Fish tacos are on my come back list. Quesadillas a little too much olive. I’d actually order without olives.
Yes I’m coming back. Tacos and burgers for me and the kids. Salads are big and delicious according to the mommy review.

It has been a while since I’ve come in a I have forgotten now much I enjoy this place.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal and it’s really nice to see the owner (s) behind the counter working here everyday.
This is one of the places you can feel the love they have for food.

Lance is a culinary Genius! He has taken his simple, yet innovative, recipes and changed downtown Arroyo Grande forever (we hope). Before even taking into account the prices, his menu is surely to delight (especially with groups). He’s got a little (certainly not talking about the portions) for everyone.
This is a MUST STOP for parents, as Alphy’s kids menu is PERFECT!
