This place is really great. The Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, and Samosas are really on point. The food really is amazing. What is very evident about this place is the pride and the hospitality that the employees consistently deliver every time we come here. Will come back every time I have a craving for Indian.

Thank goodness for Tandoor! In a word: convenient. Oh, and reasonably priced! I come here in ALL of my moods. It is super popular for dinner on weekends and almost any day for buffet, so my family and I almost always order take out. Food is usually ready in 15 – 30 minutes. My favorite dishes are chicken tikka masala(of course) and chana masala punjabi. You really cannot go wrong with samosas and garlic naan.

One of my very favorite lunch buffets — go early! The line moves reasonably quickly at this incredibly delicious and unassuming spot, but it gets really long around 12, and by 12:15 you’re pretty much guaranteed to be waiting on a table. Of course, the place doesn’t open until 11:30, so that leaves about a half-hour window when it’s reasonably calm and you can just walk up to the buffet line. I appreciate that they keep all of the vegetarian options grouped together — it demystifies the whole buffet selection process and makes it so I don’t have to spend two minutes poking at things in the bottom of the dish and wondering what’s in it while people stack up behind me in line. Essentially, the buffet is in three sections: the first section is salad and chutneys, the second section is the meaty stuff(along with jasmine rice and veg pakora), and the third section is all vegetarian. They typically have about four unique vegetarian dishes; saag paneer(a pretty delicate, mild treatment — heavy on spinach flavor with big, creamy cubes of paneer), a standard curry with potatoes and chick peas(sometimes slightly overcooked so the potatoes fall apart, but always packed with delish), and then two other revolving dishes. Sometimes it’s perfectly cooked eggplant, sometimes it’s daal, sometimes it’s awesome veggie dumplings in yellow curry sauce, but it’s always wonderful. Also plenty of naan and some really terrific samosas. The naan is great — just barely too salty, but always light, fluffy, flavorful, and not at all greasy. Nothing is excessively spicy, so you can afford to be pretty fearless.(I wouldn’t mind it being substantially spicier, but I’m a weirdo.) You can probably ask them to crank up the spice if you’re ordering off the dinner menu. The price is right, too — at $ 8.00 for the buffet, you can afford to come here often — or you can spring for a delightfully tart mango lassi if you’re feeling sassy. The service is also terrific… until you want the check. It seems like every time I come here they’re 100% on the ball until I’m ready to pay and leave and then it’s like they vanish. Maybe because I’m usually leaving around the time that the place looks like it’s about to burst at the seams with people. :-) The interior isn’t great, but the window into the kitchen is fun, so you can see them making the naan, and you really won’t spend much time looking at the walls. Just be sure to get a bowl of their kick-ass rice pudding before you head out. The mango pudding is also great, but the fluorescent orange color is a little bit of a turn-off.

This is my favorite Indian place and one of my favorite restaurants overall. It is very unassuming on the outside and it is situated next to an Indian market behind Pet Supermarket and Starbucks, so it is very easy to initially overlook. The interior is pretty but not overly«fancy» and they have a wide variety of dishes for everyone, even vegetarians/vegans. Their chicken tikka masala is my favorite. Like someone else said, it isn’t spicy but is very flavorful. They served the rice in a bowl for us both to split but they were very attentive and brought more when we were running low. When you sit down they give you some papadum to start with but their garlic naan is to die for and is always served hot. I also love their chai, although it is served from a coffee pot and sometimes develops a skin over the top. There is a window at the back where you can watch the cook as well. The staff seems to be very helpful, which can be important at a restaurant where people may not be very familiar with the cuisine. During my last visit, we were seated next to a couple that didn’t open their menu but one of them told the server that they wanted«the red chicken» with«the white rice, not the yellow rice». The other wasn’t sure what she wanted at all. The server worked with them to figure out exactly what the red chicken was and suggested and described other things they may like and when the food came out they seemed happy. That was a huge plus for me because I’ve been in that kind of position before and it always helps when you have patient, helpful waitstaff. I haven’t tried the lunch buffet but dinner is always wonderful and you definitely get your money’s worth!

Curry: one of the top 3 I’ve ever had in the entire metroplex… even from Irving. It was *not* spicy at all, however, just incredibly flavorful and with a perfect silky texture. I’m going to ask them to spice it up next time! Naan: number 1 best I’ve ever had. I’m not sure, but it sure seemed house-made! Very fresh and soft and flavorful! Rice: nice and tender, probably the nicest softest prepared rice I’ve had with curry. Quantity of food: omg, soooo much food! Like 2 whole pints worth of curry, plus a huge chinese take-out box full of rice and a whole slab of naan. The shop is a bit odd though… you walk in through double doors in a run-down shopping center to the front of a small little rectangular room. I panicked until I finally noticed that the staff was waiting over on the opposite side of the room at the back, so I had to traverse the entire length of the room diagonally past several quietly dining parties to get to the back to pay and pick up my to-go meal. I felt like I was disturbing the patrons dining in. :(I just want to slink in and quietly pick up my to-go order, not disrupt everyone’s meals. I *almost* want to knock off a star or two for that… but man that food was SO good, and that’s what we really go to restaurants for anyway, right? So yeah ok… 5 stars.

I had lunch here for the first time with a couple of co-workers. We got there just as they opened; I’m glad we did. By the time we left there was a line going out the door and more coming in. The buffet had a nice selection of typical Indian cuisine and all of the dishes were high quality. The servers were attentive and polite. The place is clean and they keep the buffet well stocked. Our ticket for three for the buffet(2 waters, 1 tea) was $ 27, I would easily pay more for this quality of food. This place gets a thumbs up from me. On a side note; there is a picture window with a view to a small room behind the buffet. In it you can see a turbaned gentleman making the flat bread they serve. It reminded me of Zoltar from the movie BIG as he looks like he is in a glass case. This place will be on our regular rotation.

A simple place you need to get here early for. I like the buffet because it’s cheap, even on the weekends. Not over priced and you get a lot of good selections. The lamb is is excellent. I don’t eat much lamb but it’s flavored nicely and it’s my favorite meat here. The desserts were very good, not to sweet. There is a good selection of chutney and appears to be made there. The tamarind chutney is excellent, a must have with the samosas. This place gets crowded quickly for lunch, especially weekends. Be prepared for a crowd and wait in line that forms out the door. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.

The lamb vindaloo and spicy chicken tikka forever! And palak paneer! I don’t pretend to be ANY sort of Indian food connoisseur, but I DO know when a place is DELIVERING on the smokey, savory, spice content of their dishes. I enjoy Tandoor so much. This Indian food is delicious, y’all.

This place is amazing. My friends and I NEVER fail to come to Tandoor when we go on break and come home from school. It is a must visit restaurant and I would even say that it’s my favorite restaurant in Arlington and definitely my favorite Indian restaurant by far! I’ve only come here for their weekday lunch buffet(because of the awesome price at around $ 8?) but I’m sure any meal at Tandoor would be incredible. I have tried all of the meat dishes and the vast majority of their buffet selection so I can speak to the quality of all their food which is top notch, however, I have narrowed my favorites and will always get the rice, chicken tikka masala, samosas, naan, and loads of mango lassi(kind of like a pudding). The chicken tikka masala? Divine. I don’t even have the words to describe it’s perfection but the chicken is moist and bountiful and the sauce is addictingly good and great to dip just about anything in. The samosas are always super fresh and crispy with a great ratio of potato, other small vegetables, and seasoning. They are always putting out fresh naan which is just great quality and a delicious side to help you finish up the sauce from the masala(there is even a window that allows you to watch them make it!). As for the mango lassi, I pretty much drink it like it’s a smoothie. I’m the type to always like something sweet as a drink alongside my meals and it is the perfect palette cleanser? kind of haha It just tastes really good. They also have a rice pudding for dessert that is also pretty good, but I prefer fruity things. As for vegetables, I’ll be honest, I’m more of a meat and carb eater, but I have scoped out the salad bar and their vegetable dishes for a friend and they have a pretty good selection! I’ve posted some photos that I snapped for my health-conscious friend so although I can’t really speak for how good those things are, you can see what they look like! Overall, this place is A+. Seriously, go try it out.

This is a restaurant that has been around for many years. It’s inside a strip mall. It’s décor is going to be what you’d expect in a retalk D grade location but it is clean far as the lunch buffet, it’s the verity of standard Indian buffet choices Americans have come to expect. The quality of taste is fair. not wow’ed by it but for $ 8 is acceptable. The issue I do take is with the sturno lit pans instead of a actual buffet table. This allows the food to lose temp. Over all I can say I would come back for lunch again but not drive out of my way for it.

This place has been a favorite of mine since the 90s. Still the same great service and flavor as it was back then. The portions are great with the right balance of seasoning. By far the best place for chicken curry that I’ve tried thus far. The restaurant is small, so be mindful of a possible wait. I always call it in and carry out. My food is always packaged well for the drive and piping hot upon arrival.

Overall, the food is probably 3 stars, but the price of $ 7 for a buffet brings it up to a 4. Most of the food in the buffet was not hot enough. The place was packed so I’m not sure how that could be. The service was great. Overall the food was also on the mild side so there were a lot of Westerners there.

As I write this I am nursing an Indian food baby. Sunday buffet is $ 9.95pp and well worth it. Korma, Paneer(spinach), tikka masala, chicken tikka and several other items I wouldn’t dare pronounce or attempt to spell. Everything was just delicious! Especially loved the korma, masala and of course dessert. Naan was being freshly made and was very good. Ate way too much. We got there at about noon just before the HUGE lunch crowd. When we left, the line to get seated was out the door. We did feel a little rushed to eat and leave, but considering the line it was understandable. It’s the reason I gave four instead of five stars however. We will definitely return as soon as I hit the gym and work off all this food.

The delectable buffet of wonderfully spiced flavorful cuisine welcomes you as you enter the door along with the friendly greeting of the staff. Following in the traditions of the northern part of the country influenced by Arabic spices and rich flavors creates a much more pallet arousing opportunity. The buffet at $ 10 is one of the best values in the metroplex. It offers soups, curries, salads, the stand tandoori chicken, nan and dessert. Additionally be adventurous and try one of the various many specialty beverage beverages offered. They are kind and always coming around with water, clearing plates, and assisting. Service, quality, and more!

I’ve heard somewhere that there are two types of people in this world: Those that love Indian food, and those that haven’t tried it yet(I’d reeealllly love to say following a chat with the hot Indian chick on Top Chef, but really, I think I read it on the back of some Indian frozen food). This is a great intro to Indian food. Hell, it’s where I met Indian food. It’s a buffet, and you can have as much or as little of everything you don’t know the name of. Annnd Idk wth I have to re-write this; I’d copy paste my old review but the highlights are– *$ 7LUNCHBUFFETS You’d be hard-put to find better buffet tikka masala. Do it, try it. The best Indian food we have ever had! We walked in and could tell this was authentic! We ordered the garlic naan and the assorted bread plate. Also the vegetable samosa for appetizers. They were all incredible! I got chicken tiki masala and my husband had lamb curry. Both of us loved our dishes! They came with rice. I also got the rice pudding desert and loved it! We will definitely be back here! My husband says its the best Indian he has ever had, and he loves Indian!

This place serves amazinggg entrees. Every time. Order anything off the menu and you won’t be disappointed. The look of this place doesn’t scream chic, yet it has a lovely vibe to it. Friday night dinner time, this place was packed. And every single one was enjoying their food. The pleasant smiles on their faces is enough proof of that(what? I’m not supposed to look around? Oops! But I have eyes.) We ordered samosa and chicken saagwala(spinach chicken) this time. We were served 2 papad with 2 chutneys as we waited for our food to arrive. Nothing to write about they were standard chutneys and tasted good. Then came samosas(2 per plate for $ 2.95). It was a 3⁄5. Filling was on the bland side(not super spicy) but that’s not the problem. The problem was the crust, it was very greasy(dripping oil) and the dough just wasn’t done right(had bubbles in the crust). It tasted okay regardless of the crust not being flaky. Then our star arrived. The chicken saagwala. Can’t write enough good things about this one. It came with rice, which was perfectly cooked a seasoned. We didn’t order extra naan coz we weren’t hungry to begin with. But once we started eating, we couldn’t be stopped. The creamy spinach gravy was out of the world delicious with so many layers of flavors perfectly marrying together. Even though it was creamy, it wasn’t a heavy dish. And the boneless chicken cubes were oh so tender. I could’ve sworn I was eating a well-prepared goat dish, it was that rich in flavor. Finally, the service here was exceptionally fast and attentive. Our glasses were always filled with water, and our food arrived quickly. The prices for the quality of food we get here is commendable. We paid less than $ 14 for all that food(excluding gratuity).

Too«authentic» for me. I came here for lunch, but it was buffet only, and there were only certain options available. The service was so so, and the manager/owner person was rude. The food was mediocre, the nann could have been better. I wouldn’t really recommend it nor would I return here.

Finally got a day off and where did I want to go? Yes, THIS place to try their lunch buffet! We got there at 1:30pm and the place was still quite full. We were greeted and seated promptly. Nothing fancy about the atmosphere and décor, but that’s ok, as long as it’s clean. The staff was efficient, walking around filling water glasses regularly, but not as sociable as I’d like. I love Indian food and theirs did not disappoint. The rice, veggie samosas, and chicken tikka masala were all delicious. The naan, omg the naan! Fluffy on the inside, nicely charred on the outside. Two lunch buffets for $ 15 bucks! Can’t beat that!

So I guess I’m the only one thus far NOTBLOWNAWAY with this place. I agree that it is a lot of bang for your buck with the LUNCHBUFFET. An affordable lunch buffet at an Indian restaurant I had never tried was solely the reason for choosing this place. I gave it a try and if one of my friends wanted to try this place, I would go with them. BUT I don’t think this would come back here on my own. I went with my sister and we agreed that we probably wouldn’t choose it for one of our lunches again. So at least her and I left with a similar opinion of the place. It’s always VERYAWKWARD to come here when it is busy. You are left standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for a table or between the two doors in the entry way. But friendly customer service. They did have around ~9 entrée options in the buffet, but they were all pretty similar in taste so it was more like they had less options. They did have a small salad bar, but most were passing it up. I passed because it did not look too fresh. They do HAVEGREATNAAN! If you can get some, you’ll agree. I went for lunch on a Friday and people were taking naan faster than it was made. You can watch the naan being made through a window into one part of the kitchen. The tandoori chicken was good, along with the chicken tikka masala. Instead of rice, which was made well here, I ate my chicken tikka masala with the naan I had to wait for. Yes, I am in fact commenting on the fact that they made their rice well. Ever been to a restaurant where they made their rice horribly? Well you’d notice rice quality after that. or if you’re asian. Haha I kid. kind of. They had a beef dish that I wasn’t too fond of and I would be able to comment more on their specific dishes but the name plates for the dishes were almost non-existent. They only had one beef dish when I went, so you’ll know which one I am referring to. It’s a buffet though, so give it a try. But take a small bite, in case you end up not being too fond of it either. Let’s talk dessert. They have two options; rice pudding and this other mango thing. The rice pudding was very good. I had two small servings of it haha. The mango pudding thing was very glutenous and I don’t really like that type of texture. It was okay. But you know, the typical fake fruit taste.

Tandoor is a great restaurant I have been here many times. And I love the food. We have done the lunch buffet few times and it is very good. If you are not sure what to get this is a good idea. I have tried many different item on the menu all have been good. I even try different items sometime. If you order at least 2 items you can share with your dinner partner since the food comes in separate dishes. The Beef Shahi with an almond cream sauce is great the best even. The Chicken Tikka Masala is never a wrong choice. I tried the Chicken Vindaloo it is a hot dish and it is good but a little too hot.

Well I was the Unilocal«Duke» of Tandoor before the listing change, which should tell you how often I visit this great little Indian restaurant in Arlington. I’ve been visiting them regularly for about 3 years, give or take. The Tandoor offers a lunch buffet which is a good way to familiarize yourself with a few different choices if you’re new to Indian food. It is replenished often, always good and hot food with a pretty wide variety of Indian cuisine selections. There’s a section for sauces and a couple of desserts as well. My kid loves the Rice Pudding! If you can make it to the Tandoor for dinner service, they are even better than their lunch buffet. The Chicken Tiki Masala is my favorite and it’s always such a treat. The sauce is so creamy, so rich and delicious. The pieces of chicken are perfectly prepared and so succulent. And the Naan bread is amazing. Grilled just right. Fluffy but with a little bit of brown char in a few places to give it some amazing flavor by itself, or you can get it with garlic if you prefer. Whether you visit for lunch buffet or dinner service, you will certainly have a good meal at the Tandoor. They have a great staff who are friendly and attentive and everyone always seems to be friendly even when they are slammed with customers. Seriously give these guys a try if you’re in the mood for curry. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And if you’re new to Indian cuisine, their buffet is a great place to get started trying something new. Highly recommend this place. :)

My oh my, this is some great food. If I could give more stars I would. Now I’m by no means an Indian food expert and barely above a novice. They have a buffet but I normally try to avoid the buffet. Not that is it not top notch but because I’m not good at telling myself to stop. The food is just so good that I eat till I’m stuffed. OK I guess that makes me a pig… who are you to judge. :) We normally get the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Beef Shahi. The are both WONDERFUL. We share the meals and have always been happy. The Lamb Kofta and Lamb Curry are also great. The Naan flat bread is oh so good. The prices: Very fair — $ 10 — $ 12 The service: You cannot ask for any better. The food: I think I made my point above. The wine: The house Cabernet is very good and not bad on the price. Look for us you will see us there at least twice a month.

I can not give this place enough stars… it is just wonderful– it’s dingy inside– but a wonderful dinginess at that! First of all– if you don’t know to look you wont find it on your own. its tucked in the corner of an old shopping center on the North– West corner of Fielder and Randol Mill– Just look for the big red door! OK– the place is old, and it looks old inside– PLEASE don’t let this discourage you, the food is amazing and worth the old nasty carpet and old smell– even though the spices tend to mask the odors well. for an first timers– to this place or Indian food in general– you have to go during the lunch buffet– this gives you a chance to try everything at once. The buffet is every day from 11– 2 and it is cheaper during the week than on the weekend. I always skip the salad bar– they have some great marinated tomato and cucumber salad– but I always want to save room for the good stuff! I have to have Tandoori chicken– its bright red and looks grilled but its smoked in the Tandoor to perfection and don’t let the color fool you, it is not spicy. The Beef tips is a must try as well as the Chicken Tikka Masala– this is my favorite dish. When I can not make the buffet I opt for this but ask for it extra spicy– ooohhhh baaabbbyy!!! Its a creamy tomato based sauce full of tender chicken and it is HEAVEN when sopped up with hot naan bread! Not to mention all the yummy vegetarian sides they have including samosas– I always tell people its an Indian empanada– hahaha! A flaky crust full of potatoes and peas with just a kick of spice. I would just suggest taking a small bite of everything then go back when you know what you like. I promise there is something you will fall in love with!
