After reading good reviews, we were very disappointed with the service. At 8:15pm on a Thursday, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait for our pizza. It took over an hour until we finally got our food. The dining room is noisy and they told us they were«swamped with phone orders.» I guess phone customers are their priority over people dining in. Not worth eating here unless you have an evening to spend.

Best pizza in Arlington. My favorite is the eggplant red pepper with pepperoni. The arancini and bruschetta are also delicious.

Absolutely loved the pizza from here. Delicious and not over cooked. WILLBEBACK. The prosciutto arugula is to die for & the chorizo is equally as satisfying. The service was quick and efficient. Patio in the back is cute and artsy

This is very good pizza, if a little pricey. Unless I’m understanding incorrectly, they only have one size of pizza, which is just short of a medium in other pizza joints. The crust is relatively thin, so they limit the number of ingredients on each pie. I got a pizza with cheese and three other toppings, which ended up being about $ 14. But it was definitely good.

Normally when the line is out the door I assume the food has to be good. Unfortunately this is one of those exceptions. Now I don’t know if our order was an aberration due to the volume of people but our order is the only thing I can go on. The food was very disappointing. First off the eggplant arancini. I assumed this would be my favorite thing on the menu. Sadly not. It was just bland. They put smoked mozzarella in it to add some kick but it needed a better eggplant flavor. Also got the eggplant parm pizza. The crust was an odd combination of soggy, undercooked, and burnt. I know that Neapolitan pizza should be a little burnt on the bottom but I also know that it shouldn’t be soggy and even doughy. Overall very disappointing.

The pizza is a little $$$ but very worth it. True authentic Italian pizza is hard to come across. This definitely hits the spot. Lines can get crazy, I would definitely recommend going on a Tuesday or Wednesday. FYI Their oven closes every day from 3:30−4.

Delicious pizza and best in the area. Fresh ingredients, friendly service and reasonable prices. I ordered the Prosciutto with Arugula and Diavola pies. Both had creamy cheese, soft dough and the meats were so tasty. I ordered the garlic bread. Yummy, but I wouldn’t recommend it for the price. I’ll be back to try the other pizza combinations and their gelato. Place can be tight on the weekends so get here early. Parking is limited in the front, but you can always park across the street. I do recommend if you are carrying out tell the chefs to give your pizza some time out of the oven before they toss it in a box to go. The dough needs to rise and you don’t want it soggy after its fresh from the oven.

There aren’t many things that would bring the young professionals from Arlington north out to Arlington south, and even fewer that bring friends from DC across the bridge, so when I heard that there was a restaurant that did just that, I knew I had to find out more. On a recent Thursday I convinced two co workers, reluctantly, that they needed to join me, branch out from our tried and true pizza spot to explore the newest spot. When we got there the line was almost to the door and initially I was confused on the system; where and when you order, how you get a table etc. Once we figured out where to order it took several tries for the girl at the register to get our order right and we were only ordering three pies and two beers. Even after a few minutes of back and forth and eventual conclusion of the correct three pizzas, we ended up charged for an extra beer, ‘from the bar’ which we weren’t clear on what she was referencing(pro tip: it’s in the second room with the tables). Even with all these errors, this place earns the four stars. The pizza was just that good. Each one was a flavor experience– the kind of meal that makes you glad Atkins is very much out of vogue.

These guys are the real deal, one of 3 pizza places in the DC area with a true Neapolitan pizza oven that comes from Napoli Italy. Their fare did not disappoint either. Aubs and I shared the Neopolitan pizza and the pesto pizza, both were great. Neopolitan was our favorite, I think because the fresh mozzarella, sauce and basil ingredients were all so great by themselves and even better together. The pesto was also nice, and the roasted pine nuts on top was a nice touch. The pizzas arent small, the 2 of us ate 1 and half pizzas and took home a half. Aubs didnt love their sangria which tasted like a mixture of different wines and not very sweet but I liked it. Pizza prices at 12 $-14 $ were very reasonable, service was great, I cant wait to go back.

Ate here for dinner last night — my third visit to Pupatella. They know how to make a delicious pizza! I ordered the Diavola and enjoyed every bite. Had a slice left over for that I’ll be enjoying for lunch today! My husband had the Buffala Bianca that was also very good. I’d say this is some of the better pizza you’ll be able to find in the area. Don’t expect much in the way of service. You order and pay then they seat you. We got our own water from the serving station and waited for our food to be delivered. We had also ordered the #3 salad and that came out very quickly. Pizzas didn’t take much longer than the time it took to eat the salad, so we were happy with the quick timing. They had one guy busing tables who came around and cleared the table for us. We were seated on the back patio that was very quiet, so that may have been why there was little service; I’ve sat inside before and had a little more attention from the staff. Not really a complaint though since they had a serving station where we could get anything we needed including a to go box for our leftovers. All-in-all a great spot for pizza that we’ll be back to visit again soon!

I really, really wanted to like this place because I am a sucker for mom and pop, authentic, fresh homemade restaurants. But… I just wasn’t a fan of the crust and for me, it’s all about the crust. Slightly crispy and doughy, not too thin not too thick, with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. The crust here is soggy and mushy– it doesn’t serve well a few hours later(the top crust got crispy but the bottom of the pizza was soggy). :/ However, I did appreciate the freshness of the ingredients, the family friendly atmosphere since we were dining with friends with kids, and their arugula salad with grapefruit/Apple was delish. I would come back just to try the focaccia.

The line is alarming but the wait is actually not bad(the tricky part for us was parking, since there are so few spots). I’d say we waited in line for only about 15 minutes, despite it snaking out the door, and then got our food about 15 minutes later, so overall, it wasn’t bad. Their system involves everyone standing in the same line to place your order and pay, whether you want to eat there or get takeout, which I guess is easier for them but seems less enticing for customers. When we thought about bailing on the line though(because the one server we tracked down adamantly refused to give us a sense of how long she thought it would take), others who were clearly locals and regulars told us we absolutely had to try the amazing pizza. So was it worth all that? Mine, definitely– the burrata($ 16) was super creamy and the cherry tomatoes were lightly roasted but not too runny so that the integrity of the crust stayed intact. I hate eating pizza with a knife and fork so that’s important! I really enjoyed the slightly blistered, lightly chewy, hand-pulled crust. The prosciutto and arugula red pizza($ 13) was also pretty good. The sausage and onion pizza($ 12), on the other hand, was super soggy and floppy. The taste of the toppings was great– apparently they make the sausage in house– but the whole thing just didn’t hold up. It was a nice day so we decided to sit in the outdoor patio in the back, though we didn’t realize that was available to us until one of us went to the bathroom and saw people heading out that way. I wish the servers would have told us that was an option! We had to bring our plates and water and utensils out with us.

I can’t get enough of this place. I love this place so much, that I’m just updating my review. I introduced this place to a group of lovely ladies last night. Yes, the place was packed with the line outside the door, however always seems to move swiftly, especially when your deciding what to get off a spectacular menu. I tried something new last night. The Pesto pizza with their house made pesto, walnuts, fresh and smoked mozzarella. I made a fantastic choice of adding spinach and basil too it. I’m at a loss of words, it was just out of this world fantastic.(i can taste it now.) Well, I guess I’m not at a loss of words… And my lady friends were quite pleased that I introduced them to this wonderful jewel. While in the line there was a peppy staff member handing out menu’s and asking if anyone had questions. She was pleasant in AND out of the restaurant. Pupatella? Will you marry me? lol.

Finally! After years of hearing all of my friends rave about Pupatella, I managed to have the time to stop by in this famous pizza spot. I am so happy that I did! Crispy and chewy dough, topped with a delicious topping of cheese and sauce. I’m usually a fan of the margherita but went with the prosciutto and arugula this time around. I was impressed! A nice hefty portion of prosciutto topped with many handfuls of arugula. The sausage mozzarella was also equally delicious. I think I like that better than the prosciutto, milder in flavor! Seating was fairly easy, and we came in during the lunch rush on a Friday. You can easily order to go as well! Or eat in the car if you can’t wait. Trust me, the pizza is better hot than cold. It would get too chewy if you wait too long. To top off your already pizza-filled stomach, end with some gelato that are so smooth, the pizza heat can quickly melt it in your mouth. A nice end to our quick Italian lunch! Definitely on the top of my list for brick, neapolitan pizza.

As many have said previously, great pizza. Casual environment. Hard to find parking out front. It is super convenient to park at the Safeway across the street and walk right over. No big deal, honestly. I got the Margarita Doc, which I’ve had a few times before. It’s usually consistently good. I must mention that during my most recent visit the pizza was pretty soggy with sauce dripping off while I was trying to eat, but I chalked it up to it maybe not being in the oven long enough. All in all, a good place to get consistently good pizza but it will not travel well. Eat it right away!

My friend raves about Pupatella and since pizza is one of my favorite foods, I had to give this place a try! Pizza — While I think the pizza is good, it’s not my style. Pupatella pizza is more conservative with the cheese and the crust can be super soft and flaky in some parts and then charred in other parts. This is not a bad thing but is worth noting. Value — To get a whole pie for $ 12 – 14 is a pretty good deal. It’s easy to eat in one sitting but also easy to take home a slice or two! Space — Order first then seat yourself. There are a fair amount of tables but it can get really packed during peak hours. If you’re in this area and love pizza, I would check place out. And for brownie points, you’ll be supporting a local business!

After all the hype, we finally tried it. The dough was very good and chewy. I liked that it was very airy and would deflate once bitten into and it was fun to chew like naan. However, flavor-wise and everything was what would be expected from a decent pizza place. We actually agreed that the Italian store pizza was more memorable in the flavor department. We tried the prosciutto and arugula and the margherita pizza. I liked the margherita more just bc it was less salty. The texture was great. Brussel sprouts as a starter and that was ok — a bit oily. It had some very very vinegar soaked apple pieces. I ate one and teared up and coughed and choked a bit on the vinegar. So be careful. Parking is in a tiny lot and will probably run out of space. We had to park on the street and walk over. The wait wasn’t too bad on a Saturday around 5 — only about 30 min to get our pizza. Overall, was enjoyable and fun, but I still prefer the Italian Store.

Had the a dream-y suburban day today, ie went to Michaels and Home Depot, and rewarded myself with some delicious, authentic neapolitan pizza with bae! DC proper needs a spot like Pupatella, quick, delicious and affordable. The pizzas range between $ 10-$ 13, and they recommend a pie per person! Ummm, ok! The crust isnt only thin, its light, if that makes sense, so 1 pizza is super easy to finish and maybe want to order another one! I like how you order at the counter and they bring you the pizza, makes it feel more casual, and it was super easy to find a table, though I imagine it can get crazy!

I can’t believe that I worked right up the street from this place for a year, and lived here for two years and never ever once heard of Pupatella. I regret this past year now«/ On a recent business trip, I found this on Unilocal and was shocked at the reviews. Coming from Brooklyn with all the pizza craze from traditional to modern, I was a bit skeptical that NOVA could compete. Pupatella did not disappoint. A line out the door is the first sign, and the local ale along with delicious/fresh salads were a true compliment. The only warning — eat this pizza immediately. I got full and saved a couple of slices; ate them an hour later and it was shocking how unpleasant it tasted. This is, by far, the best pizza in NOVA/DMV area!

You’re here because you are considering pizza. This is pizza. This is good pizza. Of all the pizza you could probably choose from for the meal you are planning, this is the best in show. If you go somewhere else and get pizza, it will be worse. In all seriousness, this place is great. The ingredients are fresh and there are interesting pizzas they are always willing to customize to suit your tastes. The space can get a bit crowded at times, but it is generally possible to find a table even at peak times. But there is a reason this place is thriving and it is that the pizzas are great. Our party had multiple different types and everyone was satisfied. White or red, and every combination is probably a good bet if it sounds good to you. You can’t go wrong at this classic spot.

Sin duda alguna la mejor pizza napolitana que he probado jamás! Horneada en el estilo tradicional pero con ingredientes del nuevo y viejo mundo. He probado cinco variedades distintas y todas excelentes. Aunque se llena en los fines de semana, el personal no deja de ser amable y servicial. Te hacen sentir más que bienvenido. Merece regresar y regresar.
