I have been a customer at Macs for over 15 years, but no more. My wife and I went in there tonight and ordered the fish and chips($ 16.95). When it came up there was three measly pieces of fish that looked for all the world like off-cuts or broken pieces. I called the manager over and said there was no way that it was a seventeen dollar meal. He looked at me like I was stupid and stated that it was fresh cod. I replied that I’d be ashamed to see this served in a high school cafeteria — no raised voice, no offensive language. He preceded to lecture me on talking to him nicely. At that point, rather than demonstrating what not talking nicely to him sounded like, I tipped our waiter and walked out. I live 5 minutes from Macs and have eaten there with friends and family many times, but I will never return and I will tell everyone I know why. Too many places provide overpriced food and underwhelming service and Macs has clearly decided to join the growing cast of crap local restaurants. I should have gotten the managers name tonight, but I was so dumbfounded by his pathetic attitude I stormed out without doing so. I’m sure it won’t be long before this jerk is asking me if I want to supersize my fries. If I could give Macs 0 stars I would! By the way, if you want to see what real fresh cod looks like go to Zeke’s in Fort Worth.

I finally stopped in here after driving by all the time. Staff was friendly. The food was great! Little soul food twist. Prices were better than I expected. I stopped by for happy hour after my first visit and sat at the bar. Very friendly bartender, patrons were friendly too. And again the food was delicious!

I was there last night and unfortunately the kitchen was backed up for some reason. We arrived at 7:15 and didn’t get our food until 8:00. When we did get our food, they had over cooked my son’s hamburger. We ordered it medium and it was more than well-done. Not quite hockey puck but definitely dry. I sent it back and we had to wait another 15 minutes. The second burger was perfect. My prime rib was cooked perfectly and delicious as usual. The one thing that bugs me about last night is that we never got an apology for the food taking forever and especially since we had to send food back. Due to the prices of this restaurant and quality of the food, I would have expected a bit more customer service. We didn’t complain, and it is unfortunate that we would have had to complain in order to get a «sir, I’m so sorry you your burger wasn’t cooked appropriately, and that you had to wait so long for your food.» As to my four star rating, the wait for the food kept me from giving it five stars. Overall, this place has great food. Their salad dressing is among the best I’ve ever tasted!

I started out with the Cajun popcorn, oh so good! So fresh and melted in my mouth. I then discovered I could have unlimited salad for $ 3.95 with an entrée. That salad will make u slap yo momma. The dressing the cheese, the grape tomatoes. I felt as if I was in Italy picking fresh vegetables from my garden. The salad is accompanied by out of the oven bread with salted butter. Let me tell u, I normally only eat ½ of what these restaurants give me but today! I ate all that homemade bread and asked for extra dressing and cheese for my salad. The wait staff is so nice, so affable. Oh yea my entrée lol I ordered chicken piccata it’s taste so good but due to me eating an appetizer, a huge wonderful scrumptious salad and mommas home made bread; I’m gonna take it to go. This is definitely a place I will frequent.

It’s hard writing a bad review on such good food, but at these prices it should be much more than good food. The waitstaff here doesn’t live up to the percentages they ring up. J really didn’t appreciate the salad they bring out without telling you is an upcharge. Suddenly your meal is $ 3 extra when the tab comes. I had the chicken fried steak due to the reviews and it was delicious.(But not worth the $ 17 it cost after paying for a salad I didn’t eat. My wife’s pecan crusted trout was ok, but they used canned mushrooms. What’s most sad is its the same fancy place I used to take dates out in high school in the early 90s. Literally nothing has changed except the same people are coming here 30 years older.(It’s a Lubys crowd) How many bars do you know that close at 10?

This is my second time coming to Mac’s. First experience was not so great. The food was great and the place was very nice so I decided before giving a harsh review I would call instead. I talked to Mike and he made me feel better about my experience and we decided to come give it another try. Service was excellent and food was great again. On my first visit we had the fish and chips with salad and shrimp cocktail and a few drinks from the bar. On our second visit we had the pork chops with a baked potato and cup of gumbo then I had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and salad with wine and a drink from the bar. Food and drinks were great, service was great. They really redeemed themselves and we look forward to coming to dine here again.

For consistently delicious food, we count on Mac’s. Always great service and the bread and butter is icing on the cake! And they support #mansfieldcares!

Mac’s has a great ambiance and good service. They are typically pretty crowded and could use some breathing room between tables. The salad and bread are great. I ordered the prime rib medium. It came out well done but the waitress quickly fixed the issue. It was okay, but not the best. My wife had blackened redfish, which was excellent. All in all, it was good, perhaps not as good as what we paid for.

All their food is great but you must stop in for Sunday brunch! Not only the food but atmosphere is wonderful. The owner is incredibly sweet. Love this place.

Here’s why 4 stars… For $ 3 per person you can get the bottomless delicious salad., Complimentary fresh bread, and the food is high end southern comfort. The chicken friend chicken & steaks are of course huge, and the gravy is seasoned well, unlike most places where it’s bland or watery. You can ask to get a grilled jalapeño on top of any fried steak. Yum for me! The steaks here are big, juicy, and a great price! My only disappointment was the crab cakes! They were different as described in the menu(1 star off), and basic. They have a great steak kabob with a baked potato that’s healthy and filling. I found out today that they just opened one of these on Main Street Grapevine, which is the closer location I will be going to from now on. Everyone raves about this place as well as their brunch. Any place with a bottomless salad and good chicken friend chicken, and I’m pretty much going to be coming back to you! They have a cozy wood bar, with lots of high-tops and TV’s to watch sports. Great food, and again High end southern comfort at comfortable prices.

Stopped by on a whim for my friends birthday and i do not regret it! I want to start things off with saying that the gravy took my breath away, if I could ride off into the sunset towards a gravy ocean this is the one I want it to be. I also had a sandwich and that was great too! It came with sweet fries and dipping the sweet fries in the gravy was superb. I still have dreams about the gravy here and you have to try it!

Mac’s has been around since 1987& it’s a great sign when a local place always has a full parking lot. If you have not yet tried Mac’s, well, what are you waiting for? Sure, they are tucked in at the end of a strip centre, along the I-20 frontage road. Don’t let that intimidate. This is the best meal in South Arlington. They are especially good for Brunch, which we did today with the kids. They have a selection of Eggs Bennies including one with crab(Eggs Point St. George) and one with Filet Mignon. All the brunch items include their fruit & salad bar. Make sure you try the warm cinnamon rolls. The Bennies call be ordered full– or half-sized. Not sure if the omelettes are 2– or 3-egg, but they are substantial & all the breakfast dishes come with their home-style potatoes. I ordered the Eggs Point St. George today. The poached egg was cooked perfectly, and the Hollandaise was absolutely wonderfully creamy. They have a number of lighter options, like a Gumbo & Salad combo. The gumbo is good(just not«Louisiana good»). Reservations can be made on Open Table, and I strongly encourage it. They do have bar seating, but no a lot, and it is not terribly comfortable. Mac’s offers a very sophisticated menu for the area. It is refined, not rustic. So, with great food and a very fine décor, why only four stars? Service is always slow(and not terribly attentive). For example, our table ordered two soft drinks and three glasses of water today, but got only straws for the soda. We had to ask twice for straws. When the food came out, our server had no idea who ordered what. Also, and possibly due to the slow service, the food tends not to come out hot. Do yourself a favor and try this place as a changeup for brunch on the weekend or a really nice dinner out.

In the spirit of trying new local places, my mother and I had been planning for quite a while to stop here one evening for dinner. It’s a LOT fancier on the inside than one would expect it to be! The price range is between $ 12-$ 18 a plate. However… The food is FANTASTIC. It was the perfect portion size for each of us and seasoned perfectly. I had the Southern Fried Chicken and Fries while my mother had Chicken a Fried Steak and Baked Potato. The service was great, as well; our tea glasses never emptied and our waitress wasn’t the only server ensuring our time there was perfect. The only reason I can’t say 5 Stars is because the price was a biiiit on the high end of what we were looking to spend but it was still worth it!

Mac’s is a great local restaurant that serves food with an opinion. The service is great. Sometimes waiters aren’t very friendly but our’s was more than happy to make menu suggestions and tell us what she thought of different items. The place is a little nicer than casual but you can wear casual clothes. The bread is amazing. I have had the prime rib(only on dinner menu) and the philly cheesesteak which was out of this world(but it was a special).

Mac’s has been around for over 20 years and there’s a reason why — consistent quality. If you’ve been there even once, you will remember the first impression — their salad and bread. Both are worth coming back for on their own. Sourdough bread with SOFT butter. Salad is simple but spectacular with blue cheese crumbles, red onion rings, cherry tomatoes, and house Italian dressing. Tonite I had the salad as an entrée, that’s how much I like it, with salmon on the side. This is the best $ 8 you’ve ever spent. A generous portion of salmon that is delectable. I enjoyed it with a Pinot Noir, Belle Glos Meiomi. I love this wine. It’s an easy drinking, go with anything red wine. Subtle notes of berry and chocolate. Like chicken? Their best dish is cilantro chicken. Amazingly delicious! Served with pasta but I recommend asking for a carb-sub of julienne vegetables.

My hubby suggested trying Mac’s out for lunch one day, I was a little concerned it would be too pricey, but their burgers and sandwiches at lunch are about the same as they’d cost at a Cheddars. For some reason, hubby was expecting more of a dive bar and less of an upscale place so he did a double-take when we walked in and saw something kind of mini-Pappadeaux-esque in décor. We ordered burgers(mine was a guacamole burger) and a side of mac & cheese, because I always have to try the mac & cheese. They brought us bread and butter, the bread was kind of mediocre and harder than I was expecting. I like a softer roll generally. I enjoyed my burger and would order it again. The mac & cheese wasn’t bad, and was runny enough to dip my fries in the cheese which was nice, but it wasn’t top of the line mac & cheese so I’d probably skip it next time since burger + fries + mac & cheese was too much food. It wasn’t really up to the quality I expect from an upscale mac & cheese though it was fresh and somewhat better than you’d get at a cheapo place. Service was friendly but a bit slow. We ended up there for probably 75 minutes for a weekday lunch, which is not really works-in-an-office friendly. All in all, pricewise the lunch menu is a pretty good deal if you want a leisurely lunch. Their regular prices are much higher. Based on the lunch food, I’m not sure if I’d come at dinner as there are better places for the higher price point. But I might give them a shot sometime.
